Sue C. Schmoldt, 57, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, February 13, 2004 in the Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born on November 30, 1946 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Edgar and Burnay Swallender Elliott. Sue attended Beloit Schools and was employed by Ryeco as a machinist and at Encore Senior Villa as a caregiver. She was a member of the Beloit Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #191.

Survivors include her children, Brenda (Chet) Faust of Beloit, WI, Gary Schroeder of Oshkosh, WI, and Burnay “Bunny” (Mike) Ferguson of Wausau, WI; 17 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers and sisters, Judy Moldenhauer of South Beloit, IL, Idalu (Chuck) Sennett of Ft. Meyers, FL, Arthur Elliott of Beloit, WI, and Sandy (Alvin) Howell of Hancock, WI; several nieces and nephews.

Her parents predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Mary Froiland officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until time of service in the funeral home.

Cecil R. Sherman, 61, of Beloit and Friendship, WI. died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at the University Hospital in Madison, WI.

He was born on March 23, 1942 in Big Flats, WI, the son of Sylvester and Doris Bentley Sherman. Cecil was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his mother, Doris Sherman of Fontana, WI; children, Julie (Paul) Reichoff of Coloma, WI, Donald, Richard, and David Sherman all of Beloit, WI; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Edward Sherman of Florida, Beverly (Herb) Renner of Janesville, WI, Sandra Sherman of Capron, IL, Margery (Lloyd) Duncan of Janesville, WI, Sharon (Bert) Weeks of Janesville, WI, Yvonne Gamble of Ft. Atkinson, WI, Dianne Wynn Sherman of Fontana, WI, Frank Sherman of Fontana, WI, Debra (Chuck) Bish of Jupitor, FL, John (Tonya) Sherman of Oshkosh, WI, and George Sherman of Rockford, IL.

Cecil enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching Enduro Races.

His father and brother, William Sherman, predeceased him.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend David Meding officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given in his name to the family.

Caroline L. Swatek, 97, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, January 8, 2004 in Rock Haven, Janesville, WI.

She was born on November 30, 1906 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of William and Bertha Schwolow Luebke. Caroline attended Beloit schools and was a 1925 graduate of Beloit High School. She married Edward Z. Swatek on December 31, 1953 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on June 7, 1980.

Caroline was employed by Yates American Machine Company for 31 years. She was a member of the Yates-American Quarter Century Club, A.A.R.P., Phoenix Chapter #215, Order of the Eastern Star, Senior Citizens of Grinnell Hall and the Grinnell Goldenaires. Caroline served two years as secretary for the American Lutheran Women. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and also sang in the choir.

Survivors include her step daughter-in-law, Gertrude Swatek Foley of Janesville, WI; three step grandchildren, Richard (Cheryl) Swatek of Lake City, MN, Susan Swatek of Janesville, WI and Scott Swatek of Osceola, WI; five step great grandchildren; and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, stepson, Richard Swatek and one sister.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Roger Elliott officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services Monday in the funeral home.

Chester A. Severance, 92, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, January 5, 2004 in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing.

He was born on August 1, 1911 in Bemidji, MN, the son of Arthur Burton and Emma Sophronia-Grow Severance. Chester married Zanetta Belle Sloeum on December 24, 1932 in Plaza, ND. She predeceased him on October 9, 1988. He later married Bessie Brooks on February 14, 1993 in Rock Valley Church.

Chester was owner and operator of Severance Plumbing, retiring in 1974. He was a licensed master plumber in Wisconsin and Illinois. Chester was a member of the Plumber’s Union and Rock Valley Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie of Beloit, WI; step daughters, Marilyn (G. Robert) Bancroft of Arcadia, CA, Adelwyn Dillenbeck of Laurel, MT, and Nancy (Norman) Dresser of Zephyrhills, FL; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2004 in the Rock Valley Church, with the Reverend Greg James officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

Maynard L. “Bud” Schoonover, 72, of Beloit, WI, died December 24, 2003 in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing.

He was born March 13, 1931 in Hub City, Richland County, WI, the son of Guy E. and Myrtle Mae Richardson Schoonover. Maynard worked for American Motors in Kenosha. He drove semi truck for Mid States in South Beloit, IL. Maynard was self employed in the iron and metals business until his illness.

Survivors include his companion and best friend of 20 years, Beverly Peterson; five sisters, Lucille Ellis, Delia Carr both of Beloit, WI, Maxine (Kenny) Miller of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Charlotte (Dick) Delaney of Bristol, WI, and Genevieve (Duwaine) Stretsbury of Waunakee,
WI; two brothers, Robert Schoonover of Beloit, WI and Ernest (Liz) Schoonover of Adams, WI; brother-in-law, Robert Schreiber of Beloit, WI; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Vicki Stewart and children of Beloit and Rodney (Kim) Peterson and children of Machesney Park, IL

He was predeceased by his parents, one son, Michael Schoonover, two sisters, Helen Schreiber and infant sister, Arlene Schoonover.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Gene Van Galder officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in New Lisbon Cemetery, New Lisbon, WI. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

Ernest W. Schultz, 75, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003 in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing.

He was born August 23, 1928 in Chemung, IL, the son of Ernest W. and Lydia H. Jensen Shulz. Ernest was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He married Catherine Dobrowolski in Beloit, WI.

Ernest was employed by Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion post #265. Ernest enjoyed fishing, bowling and country music.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine of Beloit, WI; adopted daughter, Tiffany of Beloit, WI; sister, Vera (Roy) Bollinger of Balsam Lake, WI; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Helen Shulz and Gloria Taylor, and one brother, Kenneth Shulz.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Dunham Chemung Cemetery, Chemung Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice.

John E. Saladino, 66, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, November 26, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1937 in Beloit, WI, the son of Anthony and Helen Rasmussen Saladino. John was a 1957 graduate of Beloit Catholic High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. John married Phyllis A. Pedigo on June 30, 1962 in Fort Knox, KY.

John was employed by Beloit College and later by Turner High School. He was a former member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. John was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; two sons, John Thomas (Christine) Saladino and Timothy W. Saladino both of Beloit, WI; two grandchildren, Karl and Caitlyn Saladino; one sister, Donna (Frank) Curtis of Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Joseph Saladino of New York, NY; mother-in-law, Cinda Pedigo of Hardyville, KY; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. James Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

William Dean Stoddard, 85, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 23, 1918 in Paris, Illinois the son of Willard and Ethel Wood Stoddard. Dean was a 1936 graduate of Paris High School. He attended the University of Illinois. Dean married Jean N. Egnatchuk on May 10, 1941 in the Old Stone Church, Rockton, IL.

Dean was employed by Freeman Shoe Corporation beginning as a salesman, later as a foreman and purchasing agent. He later worked at the Mack Paper Company, Rockford, IL until his retirement. Dean was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He loved his vegetable and rose gardens, yard work and reading.

Survivors include wife, Jean; children, Sally J. (John) Kelley Heineke of Beloit, WI and William “Bill” (Linda Savage) Stoddard of Iowa City, IA; three grandchildren, Katherine (Dave) Kelley Zanzig of Berterange, Luxembourg, Margaret (Rob) Kelley Mann of San Francisco, CA and Daniel William (fiancé Laura) Kelley of Las Vegas, NV; four great grandchildren, Hannah and Nathan Zanzig, Benjamin and Ethan Mann; three nephews, Ron Walters, Jim Walters and Robert Yontz; two nieces, Beth (Ike) Marcadis and Katrina (Nelson) Archer; sister-in-law, Sonya Walters of Minocqua, WI.

He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters, Ruth, Edith and Lucille.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Rosalind Driver Scott officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church.

Ann A. (Cassata) Shepherd, 85, of Beloit, WI, died peacefully Sunday, October 12, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital surrounded by her children.

She was born August 8, 1918 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Philip and Rose Messina Cassata. Ann was employed by Freeman Shoe Company, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Freeman 20 year club and St. Jude Catholic Church.

Survivors include her one son, Donald (Sharon) Shepherd of Beloit, WI; one daughter, Sandra (Frank) Parker Jr. both of Beloit, WI; seven grandchildren, Tommy (Rachel) Ames of Chicago, IL, Keri Ann (Gary) Wisnieski of Racine, WI, Jamie (Amie) Shepherd of Lexington, KY, Brent (Suzanne) Shepherd of Chicago, IL, Lance (Rachel) Shepherd, Chad Parker, and Julia Parker all of Beloit, WI; seven great grandchildren, Zachary, Michaela, Regan, Nolan, Allison, Parker and Cassandra; two sisters, Lillian Sieber of Machesney Park, IL and Katie Baden of Beloit, WI; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Louis Cassata and Angelo Cassata, two sisters, Louise Maggio and Carrie Cassata, several nieces, nephews and family members, one godchild, Betty Larson.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Steve Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Thursday in the funeral home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2003 in St. Jude Catholic Church.
