Robert J. Vanark Sr., 78, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, February 2, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 7, 1925 in Saxon, WI, the son of Sylvester and Cecilia Meyers Vanark. Robert was a 1943 graduate of Valparaiso High School in Valparaiso, IN and attended Marquette University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving as an Aviation Cadet during World War II. Robert married Erna G. Henn on August 20, 1949 in Sauk City, WI. She predeceased him on December 31, 1998.

Robert was a Lab Technician for Allis Chalmers for 19 years, Fairbanks Morse & Company for 6 years and at Rockford Products for 17 years until his retirement. He served as past president and lifetime member of the ASM International, Rockford Chapter, served over 50 years in the Boy Scouts and received his 50 year pin in 2003. Robert was named “Lion of the Year” in 1996 and served as a board member and volunteer for the Salvation Army.

Survivors include his son, Robert Vanark Jr. of Beloit, WI, daughter, Virginia Vanark of Plymouth, MN; two brothers, Jim (Doris) Vanark and Roger (Betty) Vanark both of Green Bay WI; sister, Janet (Joe) Custer of Hanover Park, IL; aunt, Irene Bentley of Hayward, WI; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, son John Vanark, stepmother Amelia Vanark, and sister Marion.

Prayer services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Visitation will also be 9:30 until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Lions Foundation.

Charles P. Voss, 58, of South Beloit, IL, died Monday, November 24, 2003 in his home.

He was born December 14, 1944 in Madison WI, the son of Wesley “Bud” and Marian Reilly Voss. Charles was a 1963 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1968 and was awarded two Bronze stars, combat field infantry badge and the Purple Heart. Charles was previously employed as a truck driver. He was a member of the Mics Masters.

Survivors include his parents, Wesley “Bud” and Marian Voss of Beloit, WI; two sons, Scott Voss and Brett Voss both of Madison, WI; two brothers, Terry (Sandy) Voss of Mercer, WI and David (Jean) Voss of Beloit, WI; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Marian and grandparents.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2003 in St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the church. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

ELDON J. “Jake” VANCE, 80, of Beloit, WI, was called home on Friday, September 5, 2003 to play music with the angels.

He was born June 2, 1923 in Vernon County, WI, the son of Homer Jacob and Letha Dary Vance. Jake worked as a chef in many Janesville and Beloit restaurants. He also played piano in many area nightclubs and he liked to play for his friends and family. Jake was a generous and giving person.

Survivors include his brother, Enzley (Darlene) Vance of Beloit, WI; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, Edith Blaha, Veda Berg and Gladys Johnson, three brothers, Albert Vance, Vivian Vance and Gharld Vance.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Thomas R. Wanner officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Jake Vance memorial fund for a marker stone.

JOHN PHILLIP VANARK, 41, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, September 2, 2003 in his home.

He was born July 4, 1962 in Waukesha, WI, the son of Robert and Erna Vanark Sr. John was a graduate of Turner High School and received his bachelor’s degree in human services from Marquette University, and then a master’s in business administration from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.

John was employed by the City of Beloit in the Finance Department. He was past president and treasurer of the Beloit Noon Lions Club. He was also the zone chairman for the Lions. John was involved with the Boy Scouts serving as the district camping chairman and received the Eagle award. He was a member of the Literacy Council board serving as the Finance Committee chairman. John also was involved with the Red Cross for six years serving as treasurer. He received volunteer of the month from the Beloit Daily News in April of 1996. John enjoyed golf, playing basketball, volleyball and playing Fantasy Football.

Survivors include his father, Robert Vanark Sr.; one brother, Robert Vanark Jr. of Beloit, WI; and one sister, Virginia Vanark of Grafton, WI.

He was predeceased by his mother.

Prayer services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a scripture service at 5 p.m.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Lions Foundation.

LYLE VOGEL Jr., 70, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 in his home.

He was born October 9, 1932 in Rockton, IL, the son of Allie Lyle and Abbie Stickler Vogel. Lyle married Cleta Johnson on June 30, 1951 in Janesville, WI.

Lyle was employed by Rockton Paper Board for years and later worked for Longview Fiber, retiring in June of 1981. He was a beanie baby collector and fishing was the love of his life. Lyle was a member of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Cleta; five children, Kathy (Wes) Wenzel, Lyle A. Vogel both of Beloit, WI, David (Donna) Vogel of Exeland, WI, Sheila (Ben Shear) Vogel of Beloit, WI, and Daniel (Edie) Vogel of Janesville, WI; 15 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; one sister, Phyliss Baker of South Beloit, IL; five brothers, Clyde (Her) Sly of Rochelle, IL, Glenn (Marilyn) Parr of Beloit, WI, Paul (Geneva) Parr of Rockton, IL, Kenneth (Shirley) Vogel of Sawyer, MI, and Frank (Linda) Vogel of Capron, IL; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; special sisters-in-law, Marge Brown of Fulton, MO, and Deborah Crown of Independence, MO; beloved friend, “Bridgett.”

He was predeceased by his parents, son-in-law, John, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Norman Starks officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery, Rockton, IL. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorials to the family would be appreciated.

Donna J. Voss, 71, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, March 26, 2004 in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born August 26, 1932 in Fennimore, WI, the daughter of Vic and Florence Brainerd Adkins. Donna was a 1950 graduate of Fennimore High School and a 1953 graduate of Wisconsin State College Platteville. She married William J. Voss Jr. on July 28, 1956 in Beloit, WI.

Donna came to Beloit in 1953 to teach First grade at Converse Elementary School. She taught there until 1958. From 1962 to 1963 Donna went to work for Clark School in South Beloit, IL. In 1967 Donna and her husband established Voss Agency Real Estate, Insurance and Builders. In 1978 Donna was President of the Beloit Board of Realtors and named as Realtor of the Year. She served on the Beloit City Council from 1979 to 1981 and was involved on the Redevelopment Authority, and the Traffic Review Committee. Donna was a member of the Beloit Planning Commission from 1979 to 1987. From 1989 until the present she served many roles as a board member and officer for the Rock Valley Correctional / Community Programs, Inc. Donna was very active in PTA, school events and sports with all her children and grandchildren. She was dedicated to her career in Real Estate, her clients and the Beloit Community.

Survivors include her husband, William of Beloit, WI; four children, Steven (Holly) Voss, Sheryl Voss, Natalie (Todd) Hovland and Jeffrey (Tracy) Voss all of Beloit, WI; eight grandchildren, Tiffany and Tanner Voss, Shana Genna and Morgan Herstad, Stephanie Thompson and Matthew Hovland, Josh Regan and Vanessa Voss; two great grandchildren, Nataija and Nacio; sisters and brother, Beverly (Bruce) Johnson of Lake Geneva, WI, Shirley (Carrol) Kreul of Clovis, CA and Gregory (Marjorie) Adkins of Fennimore, WI.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004 in the Central Christian Church with the Reverend Norman Starks officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

Memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Regional Hospice or the Rock Valley Community Programs, Inc.

JOHN T. VILLA, 61, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, April 25, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 27, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the son of Jay Clinton and Birdell Solbeck Villa. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Barbara Sue Derrickson on May 30, 1961 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Rockford, IL.

John was formerly employed by the Rockton Police, Villa Chimney Sweep for 12 years, Walmart, and was a volunteer for Rockton Fire Department. He was a supporter of Fishing Has No Boundaries and the Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward, WI. John was a member of McHenry County Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sue Villa of Beloit, WI; three children, Diana Lynn (Donald) Ramsey of Clinton, WI, Jay Allen (Millie) Villa of Batavia, NY, and Mary Elaine (William) Walker of Rockford, IL; eight grandchildren, Matthew Ramsey, Jennifer Ramsey, and Andrew Ramsey, Kirk Villa, Toby Waites, Justin Villa, Brett Villa and Corey Villa; two brothers, Paul (Anne) Villa of Venice, FL, and David (Carla) Villa of Mesquite, TX; sisters-in-law, Connie (Buzz) Hellman of Oxnard, CA and Phyllis (Edward) Taylor of Machesney Park, IL; numerous cousins, aunts and special friends, Shirley Tassoni, Bud, Mike, and Sylvia Labree.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Military Rites to be held at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Donald W. Weigelt, 74, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born on July 23, 1930 in Oconto, WI, the son of Albert and Julia Mocco Weigelt. Donald was a 1947 graduate of Oconto High School. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the U.S. Air Force. Donald married Arnelda A. Monnette on January 8, 1955 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lena WI. He was employed by Ryan Construction, retiring in 1993. Donald was an avid Green Bay Packer and NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his wife, Arnelda of Beloit, WI; seven children, Keith (Elizabeth) Weigelt, Betty Jean (Wesley) Heinsohn, Byron Weigelt, Bob Weigelt, DuWayne Weigelt, Tom Weigelt and Brenda Weigelt; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

A special thanks to Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl, Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady, Dr. Gold and Dr. Leo Egbujiob.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Orville and Vernon.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be given to the family.
