Gladys V. Wilcox, 85, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, February 5, 2004 in Pioneer Court.
She was born May 16, 1918 in Duluth, MN, the daughter of Robert and Mary Vander Ploeg Sproul. Gladys was a graduate of Hononegah High School and Carthage College.
In the 1960’s Gladys hosted a half hour cooking show on WTVO called “What’s Cooking with Sue.” She was employed by South Beloit High School as the Home Economics teacher and later by Harlem High School where she coordinated the student work program. During the summer months Gladys worked at Macktown State Bank. She was a member and treasurer of the Kinnikinnick School Board and First Congregational Church in Roscoe, IL.
Survivors include her son, John (Karen) Wilcox of Roscoe, IL; granddaughters, Ann (Chris) Hankins of Belvidere, IL and Sara (Braxton) Neiman of Wichita Falls, TX; two great grandchildren, Clare Hankins and Braxton “JB” Neiman; one brother, Hugh Sproul of Rockton, IL; sister-in-law, Mildred Sproul of Rockton, IL; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, sisters, Hester Bigelow and Genevieve Kampe, brother, Robert Sproul.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Gene Van Galder officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in her name to North Suburban Library, Roscoe, IL.
Lena Marie Waller, 83, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, January 30, 2004, in Beloit Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 20, 1920, in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Antonio and Josephine Vanella Martingilio. Lena attended South Beloit High School. She married Kenneth F. Waller on July 3, 1943. He predeceased her on July 21, 1978. Lena was employed by the Beloit Hosiery Plant and the Beloit College.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Colborn of Beloit, WI; step son, Lonnie (Judy) Waller of Brooksville, FL; grandchildren, Richy Colborn of Superior, WI, Kelly (Scott) Wywialowski of Beloit, WI, Jackie Sposato of Salisbury, MO, Shelly Blake of Sarasota, FL, Donnie (Kelly) Waller of Tampa, FL, Todd and Craig Waller of Rock Island, IL, Michael Waller of Minnesota, and Tammy (Ron) Novak of Minnesota; great grandchildren, Caden, Danielle, Amber, Chelsea, Lilly, and Will; sisters, Dorothy (Fred) Horn of Brooksville, FL and Virginia (Sam) Dedio of Chicago, IL; brother, Leo (Cheryl) Martingilio of Beloit, WI
She was predeceased by her parents, three grandsons, Jeff Waller, Tony Waller and Jimmy Waller, two stepsons, Kenny Waller and Don (Sandy) Waller, three brothers, Joe, Jim and Austin and sister, Catherine Linarys.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004, in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to the Beloit Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Ivan O. Wald, 73, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2004 with his family by his side.
He was born December 13, 1930 in Janesville, WI, the son of Ivan Wilmer and Elizabeth Wald. Ivan attended Beloit High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Ivan married Arlene Wells on August 27, 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI. She predeceased him on February 11, 2000.
Ivan was employed by General Motors of Janesville, WI, retiring in January of 1990. After his retirement, Ivan enjoyed time at his lakeside cabin in the Birchwood, WI. He hobbies included hunting, fishing, art and gardening. Ivan was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving on the board of trustees, deacon and Evangelism. He was also a member of the choir.
Survivors include his children, Karl (Janice) Wald of Phoenix, AZ, Nancy (Rusty) Mitchell, Kurt (Amy) Wald both of Beloit, WI, and Kevin (Kristen) Wald of Rockford, IL; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Justin, Garrett, Sean, Brett, Amber, Keith, and Kaylee; two brothers, Carl (Roberta) Fairbert Sr. of Janesville, WI and Ken (Connie) Fairbert of Beloit, WI; three sisters, Janet Conradson of Janesville, WI, Delores (George) Skilling of Beloit, WI and Darlene Worrick of Brodhead, WI; several aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his daughter, Sally Ann Wald and his brother, Peter Fairbert.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Reverend Edward May officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

Mary Ellen Weiser, 66, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, December 26, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.
She was born on January 3, 1937 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Milton F. and Helen Beatrice Garret Sheppstrom. Mary was a 1955 graduate of Rock Island High School and a 1959 graduate of Monmouth College, where she was affiliated with Alpha Xi Delta, social sorority, Pi Alpha Nu, and honorary music sorority. She married John R. Weiser on February 18, 1961 in the Old Stone Church in Rockton, IL.
Prior to her marriage Mary was employed by Converse School as the third grade teacher. She enjoyed playing the piano, snow skiing, and water skiing. Mary was a Wisconsin Badger fan and was one of the original tailgaters. She was a member of First Congregational Church.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, John; four children, Scott (Kathleen) Weiser of Beloit, WI, Sue (Bob) Penn of Mt. Vernon, IA, Rick (Lisa Kaufman) Weiser of Cross Plains, WI, and Katherine Weiser of Beloit, WI; seven grandchildren, Stephanie McNabb, Cole Weiser, Maci Weiser, Lauren, Rob and Jonathan Penn and Nicole Weiser; extended family and numerous friends.
She was predeceased by her grandmother, Mrs. Mary E. Garret, parents, Milton and Helen Sheppstrom, father-in-law and mother-in-law, H.S. “Bud” Weiser and Geraldine Weiser, and sister-in-law, Nancy Weiser.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2003 in the First Congregational Church, 801 Bushnell Street, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Gene Van Galder officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the church. Kenneth L. Warriner, 80, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, November 24, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
He was born August 25, 1923 in Tomah, WI, the son of Burton L. and Esther A. Johnson Warriner. Ken was a 1941 graduate of Sparta High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin. Ken was a WWII veteran serving aboard the USS Witter in the Pacific where he participated in shelling and the invasion of Leyte in the Philippines and the Battle of Okinawa. He married Dorothy Ann Hedrick on April 17, 1948 in Sparta, WI.
Ken worked as a clerk for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad from 1949 to 1964. He then was employed by the United States Postal Department as a mail carrier in Beloit for 24 years, retiring in 1986. Ken was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #197. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul and St. Thomas Catholic Church where he helped with funeral luncheons and was a commentator at Sunday masses. Ken loved to read, he was an avid Packer fan and the consummate handyman around the house.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy; one daughter, Carol (Dennis) Seeley of Beloit, WI; six sons, Charles (Robin) Warriner of Watertown, WI, Thomas (Christine) Warriner of Rockton, IL, Timothy (Candice) Warriner of Roscoe, IL, Michael (Aloha) Warriner of Seattle, WA, David (Jennifer) Warriner of Auburn, ME and Steven (Tracey) Warriner of Ventura, CA; 20 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Warriner of Verona, WI; one sister, Doris Deno of Sparta, WI; many nieces and nephews.
Ken will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a hardworking and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents, daughter, Barbara Peterson, brother, Harry Warriner and brothers-in-law, Clyde Deno, Francis Nicol, and Dave Sullivan.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003 in St. Thomas Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established to help the visually impaired.
Paula Ann Otto Wells, 53, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, October 6, 2003 in her home.
She was born May 6, 1950 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Carl and Lila Genung Otto. Paula was a 1969 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School.
Paula was formerly co-owner and operator of Stateline Dental Lab. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Paula enjoyed spending time up north with her family. She had many friends and had a special love for them all. Paula will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Survivors include her children, Kelly Wells and Erin Wells both of Beloit, WI; three grandchildren, David Merritt, Jada and Sebastion Savage; her mother, Lila Otto of Beloit, WI; one brother, Carl A. (Pat) Otto III; two nephews, Scott and Brian Otto; her partner, Nora Fick.
She was predeceased by her father.
Memorial services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2003 in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend David Zimdars officiating. Raymond W. Whitney, 78, of Roscoe, IL, died Friday, October 3, 2003 in his home.
He was born April 23, 1925 in Durand, IL, the son of Arthur and Helen Snyder Whitney.
Raymond was a WWII veteran serving with the U.S. Army. He was employed by Warner Electric for over 30 years, retiring in 1990.
Survivors include his son, Wayne (Debbie) Whitney of Ft. Meyers, FL; his daughter, Diane (John) Henriksen of Roscoe, IL; brother, Donald (Betty) Whitney of Loves Park, IL; sister- in- law, Doris Whitney of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Nicole Henriksen and Jaret Whitney; nieces and nephew, Barb Nelson of Rockford, IL, Mike Whitney of Las Vegas, NV, and Kathy (Gary) Johnson of Machesney Park, IL.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Robert Whitney.

SUNHEE MARY WESSELMANN, 46, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, April 27, 2003.
She was born March 15, 1957 in Seoul, Korea, the daughter of Sang Myon and Yun Chu Hwang Sim. Sunhee married Patrick J. Wesselmann on September 10, 1989 in Colorado Springs, Co. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick; one son, A.J. Wesselmann of Beloit, WI; three sisters; and one brother.
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until the time of services Thursday in the church. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
