Marie Edna Buettner Snyder
Marie Edna Buettner Snyder, 91, died peacefully at Mary Crest Manor in Culver City, Calif., on Monday, Sept. 25, 2000. She was born on Dec. 8, 1908, in Kewaunee, to the late John and Mary Buettner. Marie was a graduate of Kewaunee High School and the Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing. To her last week, Marie enjoyed the columns of Mabel Temby in the Kewaunee Enterprise and news of her hometown. Marie is survived by two sons, Tom, Los Angeles, Calif.; and John and his wife, Mary Carole, Dallas, Texas; and grandson Matthew and granddaughter Ann Marie, and great-granddaughter Madeline Marie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and eight brothers and sisters. Remembrances in her name can be made to Mary Crest Manor, 10664 St. James Drive, Culver City, CA 90230.

Margaret L. Heider Jendrusiak
Margaret L. Heider Jendrusiak, 80, an Abrams resident died October 1, 2000 at Grancare Nursing Center in Green Bay. Margaret, the oldest of seven children born to the late Alex and Florence Knowles Heider, was born March 15, 1920. She married George B. Jendrusiak October 30, 1937; he preceded her in death August 19, 1957. Margaret was a member of United Methodist Church, Abrams. In addition to her commitment to her family and friends she served as a troop leader to many Abrams Scouts, receiving a lifetime achievement award from the Boy Scouts of America for her service and dedication. Margaret is survived by a daughter, Cathy Tom Kozlowski, Abrams; four sons, George Marie, St. Petersburg, FL; Charles Wanda, Seymour; Ken Rosemary, Clearwater, FL; Larry Roberta, Green Bay; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Heider, Hermansville, MI; Jay Arlene Heider, Rochester, MN; four sisters, Marian Wilson Smith, Leesburg, FL; Grace Louie Krause, Bark River, MI; Edna Tylka, Battle Creek, MI; Carol Cox, Abrams; a special nephew, Russ Judy Heider; many other cherished nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ruth Heider; two brothers-in-law, Frank Tylka and Vern Cox. Friends may call at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Frederik Schulz officiating. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery.

Mrs. Stanley (Audrey) Scheffen
Mrs. Stanley Audrey Scheffen, 71, formerly of Oconto, died Friday afternoon, September 29, 2000 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. The former Audrey Matravers was born August 20, 1929 in the Town of Pensaukee. She was the daughter of the late Mearl and Margaret Lefevre Matravers. As a young lady, she attended Teacher's College and received certification. On June 3, 1950 Audrey married Stanley Scheffen at First American Lutheran Church, Oconto. The couple farmed in the Town of Pensaukee and Mrs. Scheffen also taught at area schools. For the past eight years, she had been employed by the Farm House Restaurant at Abrams. Audrey was a loving mother and grandmother and was also an avid bowler. She served on the Oconto Board of Education and FMHA board. Surviving are her husband of 50 years Stanley; three children, Stanley and special friend Lisa Kennedy, James and his wife Lora, and Peggy Bridger and her husband Bill, all of Green Bay; a sister Loraine Elmer Zimmerman, Sioux Falls, SD; as well as three grandchildren. Also surviving Audrey is her mother-in-law, Pearl Scheffen, Oconto. She was preceded in death by an infant son. Private family graveside prayers were held at the Brookside Cemetery, with interment following. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials may be addressed to: Stanley Scheffen 1635 Janice Ave. #12 Green Bay, WI 54304. Raymond B. Ackerman Jr. Funeral Directors assisted the family.

Gene Stewart
Gene Stewart, 70, Oconto, died unexpectedly Monday morning, September 25, 2000 at home. Gene was born February 27, 1930 at Oconto, one of two sons born to Henry and Ann Clement Stewart. On November 5, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Jo Kazlauckas. Gene was employed for Damkoehler Paper Company, Oconto for 41 years, until retirement in 1989. He greatly enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing. Gene will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Jo; his mother, Ann Stewart, Oconto; three sons, Rich, Abington, MD; Randy and his wife Ev, Oconto and Larry and his wife Karen, DePere; three daughters, Jeanne Follett and her husband Tom and Lori Scanlan and her husband Pat, Oconto; Jackie Bauer and her husband Paul, Green Bay; a brother, Jason and his wife Janet, Green Bay; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father and two great-grandchildren. At Gene's request, there was no visitation. A private family service was held and grandchildren served as casketbearers. Ackerman Funeral Directors, Oconto assisted the family. Raymond B. Ackerman, Jr. Funeral Director.

Herman Mursau
Herman Mursau, 85, a former Coleman resident died Saturday September 30, 2000 at Whispering Oaks Care Center, Peshtigo. The son of Charles and Martha Cudnohufsky Mursau was born March 19, 1915 in the town of Brazeau. He was married to the former Irene V. Rosner on December 29, 1936 at the Section Eight Baptist Church, Pound. She prededed him in death on Aprl 2, 1994. Herman operated a farm in the town of Pound from 1937-1980 and then worked at Unit Structures for 14 years. He also was employed for Country Gardens, Coleman for two years and then for the town of Pound from 1981-1996 as a landfill attendant. Herman was a member of the Marinette Pork Producers for 22 years and a member of the Wisconsin Pork Assoc. for 15 years where he served 11 years as Director. He was a member of the Section Eight Baptist Church, Pound since 1934 where he served as Trustee, Deacon, and Usher. Surviving are four children, Beverly Norman Hagenau, of Mukwonago, Kenneth Joan Mursau, of Pound, Gary Judy Mursau, of Coleman, and Vicki Tom Pecor, of Oconto; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gust Esther Mursau, of Crivitz, John Dorothy Mursau, of Pound, and one sister, Alice Boyd, of Pound. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Agnes Bieber and a grandson, Matthew Mursau. Friends called on Monday at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman, where a prayer service was held. Funeral service was conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Section Eight Baptist, Pound. Rev. Ronald Hoffman officiated with burial in the First Baptist Cemetery, Pound.

Harriet 'Hattie' Zeifert
Harriet 'Hattie' Zeifert, 80, of Oconto, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday September 25, 2000. 'Hattie' was born October 15, 1919 in Oconto to the late Joseph and Mathilda Jurko Zeifert. 'Hattie' was a life-long resident of Oconto. 'Hattie' is survived by two sisters-in-law, Arlene Zeifert, Coleman, and Juanita Zeifert, Marinette; four nieces, Kathy Turek, Diane Bruette, Gina Zeifert, Cindy McKillip; three nephews, Chuck Horch, Tom Zeifert, Ricky Zeifert; great-nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Charles, Raymond, and Victor Zeifert; one sister, Frances Horch; an infant sister, Mary Zeifert, and a special friend, Alfred Sellen. The family received relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, where a prayer service was held. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday September 29, 2000 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. David C. Ruby officiating and burial at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.

Anna F. Couillard
Anna F. Couillard, 96, Oconto, died Thursday September 28, 2000 at Riverside Health & Rehabilitation, Oconto. Anna was born February 14, 1904 in Norway, MI to the late Joseph and Frances Tomasewska Wojner. She married Vane V. Couillard on January 11, 1922 in Menominee, MI. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1968. She was active in the Rebekah L.A.P.M. Lodge, Eastern Star, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto. Anna is survived by one son, William 'Bud' Roberta Couillard, Oconto; one sister, Mrs. John 'Agnes' Bond and Truman Bond, Oconto; one brother-in-law, Clarence LaCourt, Oconto; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Couillard, Milwaukee; Myrnel Wojner, Madison; Rose Wojner, Milwaukee; four grandchildren, Patricia Augustine, Green Bay; Michael Roberta Couillard, Madison; Sandra James Stellmacher, Oconto; Roger Tracie Couillard, Abrams; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Ethyln Couillard Gilles, Shirley Ann Couillard; six brothers, Stanley, John, Walter, Paul, Mike, Edward Couillard; one sister, Julia Lauric, and a brother-in-law, John Bond. The family received relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday September 30, 2000. Funeral services were conducted 12 noon Saturday at the church with the Rev. Thomas Beck officiating and burial at Evergreen Cemetery. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, assisted the family.

Patricia L. Tappa
Patricia L. Taplpa, 73, of Peshtigo died September 18, 2000 at St. Mary's Burn Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is survived by her five children: Bob and Keyon Tappa, of Rathdrum, ID; William Tappa, of Peshtigo; Dan and Cheryl Tappa, of Oconto; Randy and Becky Tappa, of Oconto; Mary Ann and Steve Young, of Ringle, WI; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
