WILLIAM T. WOODWARD, 92, of Roscoe, IL, died Monday, July 14, 2003 in his home.

He was born February 1, 1911 in Beloit, WI, the son of William and Elizabeth Buchanan Woodward. William was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He married Ethel G. Sharpe in Reno, NV, in 1942. She predeceased him on October 4, 1995.

William was a farmer. He was a member of the Rockton American Legion Post #332, and Kinnikinnick school board. He was past president of the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department for 25 years. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church where he was an elder and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include his three sons, Adrian W. (Chung-He) Morgan of Lakeland, FL, Thomas (Linda) Woodward of Roscoe, IL, and David (Lou) Woodward of Rockford, IL; daughter-in-law, Dawn Morgan of Beloit, WI; 12 grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, two sons, Michael Woodward and Richard Morgan, one daughter, Judith Woodward, and one grandson, Michael Woodward Jr.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2003 in the St. Andrew Lutheran Church with the Reverend Richard Wagner officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the church. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be given to the Harlem-Roscoe Ambulance Service.

CHARLES JOHN WORRICK SR., 64, of Brodhead, WI, died Friday, March 28, 2003 in Mercy Hospital, Janesville, WI.

He was born February 1, 1939 in Stockton, California the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Worrick.

Charles married Darlene A. Fairbert on July 23, 1966 in St. John’s Lutheran Church Beloit, WI. He was employed by Woodbridge in Brodhead, WI for 17 years retiring in 2001.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Darlene; three sons, Charles(Traci) Worrick Jr. of Lake Mills, WI, Randy Worrick of Janesville, WI, and John Matthew Worrick of Brodhead, WI; two grandsons, Christopher and Charles III Worrick.

Charles was predeceased by his parents, and one sister.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2nd, 2003 in East Lawn Cemetery.

Malissa A. Yakes, 40, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, December 6, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born on April 17, 1964 in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Jake and Zelda Foreman Richter. Malissa was a 1983 graduate of Parker High School, Janesville, WI. She married David Yakes on June 4, 1994 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI.

Malissa loved animals, children and anything to do with her Native American culture. She had an indian name “Little Panther.” Malissa will be remembered as a people person.

Survivors include her husband, David; two sons, James Briggs Jr. of Janesville, WI and Daniel Briggs of Elkhorn, WI; father of her children, James Howard Briggs; her parents, Jake and Zelda Richter; one brother, Jake Richter Jr. of Beloit, WI; two sisters, Penny Richter of Janesville, WI and Vanessa (Scott) Krouger of Janesville, WI.

She was predeceased by her grandparents and uncle, David Richter.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Norman Starks officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.

Nellie G. Yagle, 85, of Rockford, IL, died peacefully on Saturday, May 8, 2004 in Fair Oaks Health Care Center, South Beloit, IL.

She was born July 15, 1918 in Creston, IL, the daughter of Minnie Meirath. Nell grew up in Rochelle, IL. She married Charles Boloski and later married Robert Yagle. She operated Weise’s Cafeteria for many years in Rockford and also ran her own restaurant. Later Nell was self employed in home service. Nell resided the last 12 years at the Luther Center. She filled her days creating her whimsical cards filled with the delightful poetry that she wrote. Nell enjoyed sharing her cards with family and friends never missing a holiday or special event. She loved to cook and was always trying new recipes and wanting to share her goodies with everyone. Nell was an avid reader and a faithful listener of the television ministry “In Touch Ministries” and rarely missed listening to the messages of Pastor Charles Stanley. Her most beloved hymn was the “Old Rugged Cross.”

Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Mark) Place of Beloit, WI and Diana (Sam) Osborne of Ft. Meyers, FL; five grandchildren, Travis (Sarah) Place, Amber Place, Jeff (Mary) Osborne, Brad (Jessica) Osborne and Chris (Margaret) Osborne; eight great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her mother.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Mark Place officiating. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to the family.

Jane Yeager, 67, of Beloit, WI, was call home to be with the Lord on , October 26, 2003.

Jane was born in Watseka, IL on February 11, 1936, the daughter of Ferd and Marie Nail.

Jane grew up in Milroy, IN. She was a court reporter in the U.S. Navey, worked for Rock County as a Typist III and worked for 20 years as a Pharmacy Technician at Shopko Pharmacy in Beloit.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathi Kurth of Grants, NM and Karin (Todd) Vesely, of Portage, WI; two granddaughters, Amanda (Greg) McGraw of Bloomington, NM and Kara Nessler, of Portage, WI; and special friend Mary (Greg) Madison of Beloit.

“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” Matt. 7:12

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. There will be no visitation.

Leah M. Zimmerman, 68, of 2229 North St., Beloit, died Sunday, December 21, 2003 after a long-term illness.

She was born November 29, 1935 in St. Croix County, WI. The daughter of Leonard and Jeanne (Bonneprise) Hedrington. Leah graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1953. She was a devoted loving mother, who spent a lifetime as caregiver to her parents, husband, children and foster children. She was an avid Elvis fan and doll collector. She enjoyed her hobby of genealogy, working on her family tree for many years. Leah married Harry Zimmerman on October 25, 1968 and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Zimmerman; two sisters, Delores (Larry) Tyler and Anita (George) Riphan; one brother, Patrick (Shirley) Hedrington; six children, Harry (Laurie) Zimmerman, Tom (Justine) Larson, Paul (Linda) Zimmerman, Vickie (Rich) Shipler, Theresa Zimmerman and Leonard (Veronica) Zimmerman; one foster daughter, Josephine (Lloyd) Taylor; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jennifer, Lisa, Nichole, Danielle, Robert, Alisha, Brittany, Andrew, Amanda, Nichole R., Devyn, Dylan, Harry, Nichole M., Brody, Quinnesha, Javinn, Jaliyah, Tasia, Riley, Malachi, Ceneese; several cousins, nieces and nephews; a host of lifetime friends including special friends, Edward and Ann Dodge.

Her parents Leonard and Jeanne Hedrington; twin granddaughters, Shyanna and Savanna Shipler; and several aunts and uncles, predeceased her.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2003 in the St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Steven Kortendick officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation. Ethel E. Zuehlke, 88, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, November 17, 2003 in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing.

She was born June 18, 1915 in Stevens Point, WI, the daughter of Franklin and Martha H. Kuehle Zuehlke. Ethel was a graduate of Beloit High School.

Ethel was employed by several medical and dental professionals including Dr. George W. John and Doctors John and Jack Frye as an office manager, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Wa Tan Ya and other professional women’s organizations.

Survivors include her sister, Jeanette (Robert) Mueller of Beloit, WI; brother, Robert (Lois) Zuehlke of Beloit, WI; nieces, Dr. Martha (Stuart) Greene Zuehlke of Oak Park, IL, Barbara Zuehlke of Fort Atkinson, WI, and Ann (Anthony) Totten Zuehlke of Hood River, OR and five great nieces.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Private services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend William Wagner officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Robert F. Zimmerman, 76, of Beloit died Friday, September 19, 2003 at home.

He was born January 8, 1927 in Rockford, IL, the son of Jacob and Gladys (Helms) Zimmerman. He married Beverly Dietz on May 28, 1955 in Beloit.

Robert was employed as an Electrician with IBEW Local #364 for 45 years. He also worked for the City of Beloit Public Works Department as an Electrician for 12 years.
He was a Navy Veteran and served in WWII. He was a member of the Beloit Field Archers, Coached Youth Baseball in Beloit for several years, avid hunter, fisherman and Green Bay Packer Fan.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Beverly of Beloit; four Children, Deborah Zimmerman of Lake Geneva, WI, Diana (Norman) Traeger of Beloit, WI, Dawn Mummery of Beloit, WI and Robert (Kandy) Zimmerman of Roscoe, IL; eight grandchildren, Jessica Bosch, Jenna and Jacob Traeger, Joshua and Sarah Mummery, Tyler, Tanner and Hailey Zimmerman; two step-grandchildren, Kyle and Kylee Karns, 1 Brother, William (Alyce) Zimmerman of Rockford, IL; one sister, Margaret (Bill) Morick of Rockford; his in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Paul Zimmerman and sister, Mary Ekhart.

Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed deeply by his family and all that knew him well.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Steve Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

MARION CROWLEY ZABEL, 78, of Mequon, WI, formerly of Beloit, passed away August 22, 2003 after a long battle with cancer.

She was born May 7, 1925 in Beloit, the daughter of Harry and Francis O’ Neil Crowley, the eldest of 7 children. She married Stan Zabel in Beloit on January 24, 1948. They enjoyed 52 wonderful years together until Stan’s death in August 2000.

She was the loving mother of John S., Jr. of Rowayton, CT, James L. of Baraboo, WI, and Mary Jane (Mark) Baumgartner of Cedarburg, WI; a doting grandmother to Andrew, Tim and Matt Baumgartner and John S. “Jack” Zabel, III; a loving sister to Leo Crowley of Green Bay, WI, Jean Rish and Margaret Hennessy, both of Winnetka, IL. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was a loving sister to the late Florence Kemman, Kate Coughlin, John Crowley and, Tom, who died as a child.

She attended Beloit Memorial High School and Madison Edgewood High School, graduating from Madison Edgewood in 1943. She graduated from Rosary College in River Forest, IL in 1947 with a BA in English Literature.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and was involved with volunteer organizations, including; Beloit Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Birth Right and Life Counseling, Our Lady of the Assumption Altar Society and Catholic Women’s Club. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 25 years. She was also a member of The Beloit Historical Society, Current Literature Club and Bridge Anonymous.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2003 in Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church, by Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor-Calvary Mausoleum. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the church. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

The family would appreciate any donations be made to the Our Lady Of The Assumption Building Fund.
