Emily Koepp, 81
Emily Koepp, nee Czarniewicz, 81, formerly of the Hartford area, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend.
She was born in Milwaukee on June 13, 1918, to the late Cyryl and Frances (nee Durdel) Czarniewicz and married Erwin Koepp Sr. on July 24, 1935, in Waukegan, Ill.
Together they farmed in the Rubicon and Hustisford area until retiring and moving to Hartford.
Emily was also employed at the Broan Manufacturing Co., Hartford, and in the summers worked at the Libby Canning Co. in Hartford.
Her husband passed away on Dec. 31, 1980.
In 1996 she moved to Cedar Bay, and just recently became a resident of the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
Survivors include two children, Erwin "Erv" (Marilyn) of West Bend and Jerry (Helen) of Glendale, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Laurie (Steve) Justman, Sandy Wis-kirchen, Ken (Linda) Koepp, Steve (Lisa) Koepp, all of West Bend, Joe (Wanda) Gindt of Green Bay, Susan (Doug) Nadar of Brookfield, Michael (Mari) Koepp of Waukesha, Jodi and Jason Koepp, both of Neillsville; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Kehl of Oconomowoc; a brother, Chester (Marion) Ziemienski of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Laura Koepp of Wausau; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was her stepfather, Chester Ziemienski.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Family Center at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield. Rev. Jeffrey Haines of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, West Bend, will officiate, and entombment will be held Thursday morning.
Visitation at the Family Center will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association are appreciated by the family.
The Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.

Norman ‘Barney’ Heideman, 79
Norman R. "Barney" Heideman of West Bend died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999 at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital of West Bend at the age of 79 years.
He was born May 3, 1920 in Wausau to the late George W. and Emma A. (nee Zink) Heideman.
As a teenager, he moved to Milwaukee where he became employed at Harley-Davidson until entering the United State Army.
After his discharge, he returned to Harley-Davidson for a short time and then was employed as an iron worker.
In the late 1960s he settled in the West Bend area.
On April 17, 1981 he married Ruth Bloecher at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Barney enjoyed woodworking and was an active member of a local card club. He was a member of the International Society of Bridge and Structural Ornamental Iron Workers Local #8 AFL-CIO, Milwaukee.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Pamela (Rich) Just of New Berlin and Sharon (Arnie) Slaasted of Albuquerque, N.M.; two stepdaughters, Annette (Mark) Wenzel of Wauwatosa and Evea (Ron) Kind of West Bend; four grandchildren; the mother of his children, Grace Heideman of Milwaukee; one sister, Delores Weber of North Dakota; three brothers, George (Ruth) of Wausau, Harvey (Irene) of Muskego and Ralph (Nancy) of Wausau; his mother-in-law, Sylvia Bloecher of West Bend; a brother-in-law, William Bloecher of West Bend; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was a brother-in-law.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 16, 1999 at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend James R. Ziesemer officiating. Burial was be at Union Cemetery, Newburg.
Memorials to Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Threshold Inc. Sheltered Workshop are appreciated.
The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family.

Ronald J. ‘Max’ Menden
Ronald J. "Max" Menden, age 66, died Nov. 5, 1999.
He was the loving father of Terry (Carmine) Vara and Michael (Cindy), loving friend and companion of Gertrude Buth, dear grandfather of Paul and Katelyn Vara and Jennifer, Jeffrey and John Menden; great grandfather of Jurnee Menden; brother of Betty (Doug) Corrigan, the late Richard Menden, Robert (Doris) Obst and Janice (Chuck) Baldridge. Special friend of Jack and Ed. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday after 5:30 p.m. at Wisconsin Memorial Park - Chapel of the Chimes, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, with the service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.
The Church and Chapel Funeral Service is serving the family.

Alois J. ‘Ollie’ Okruhlica, 82
Alois John "Ollie" Okruhlica, 82, of the town of Jackson, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend.
He was born Dec. 10, 1916, in Milwaukee, to the late John and Anna (nee Vrabel) Okruhlica, and married Elnore A. Hillman on July 25, 1942, in Butler.
The couple farmed the Hillman homestead in the town of Jackson. He enjoyed flying.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Kathleen (Donald) McLellan of Chippewa Falls, Thomas (Jean) of Jackson and Lynn (Mike) Ballbach of West Bend; 11 grandchildren, Robert McLellan, Lori (Dennis) Parmenter, Kim McLellan, Kelly McLellan, Michelle (Jeremy) Przybyla, Kristin, Jeffrey and Justin Okruhlica and Amy, Andrew and Adam Ballbach; a sister, Mary Stich of Wauwatosa; two brothers, John (Arlene) of Waukesha and Frank (Marge) of Menomonee Falls; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, West Bend, and was a town of Jackson supervisor for over 18 years.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 22, at 3 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend. Father James Strupp will officiate, and interment will be in Mill Church Cemetery, town of Jackson, at 9 a.m. on Monday.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.

Frederick ‘Fritz’ Regner Sr., 76
Frederick John "Fritz" Regner Sr., a retired Air Force Major and descendant of a pioneering West Bend family, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was 76.
Born in 1923 in West Bend, Regner was the son of the late Mathias H. and Elsie (nee Schaefer) Regner.
His father, Mathias, a well-known pharmacist and local sports figure, operated the Regner Rexall drugstore in West Bend from 1911 to 1933. The store and once-popular soda fountain counter was housed on the first floor of the present Centrum Building on Main Street.
The druggist was also featured in the local newspaper for coaching and promoting the high school's basketball team, among others.
In addition, Regner's grandfather was Mathias Regner Sr., a pioneering Civil War veteran whose family emigrated to Wisconsin in 1857 from Spiesheim, Germany.
After the Civil War, Mathias Sr. settled in West Bend, operating a farm and a combined sewing machine and music store. He is credited with erecting the Regner block in the downtown area.
The family name was also bestowed on Regner Park on Main Street. It honored Regner's uncle, the late Henry O. Regner, the mayor from 1926 to 1930. Another uncle, the late Frank P. Regner, was a prominent county judge in Wausau.
Regner grew up in West Bend along with his two brothers, Dr. Mathias F. and William H. (both now deceased), and his sister, Ruth. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1941, earning the school's Pick award for football.
After attending Beloit College and Marquette University, Regner enlisted in the Air Force. As a P-51 fighter pilot he served with the 78th Fighter Group and 83rd Fighter Squadron in England and Germany during World War II. He commanded and flew more than 20 types of aircraft. He fought in the Korean War, then was stationed in Ashiya, Japan for four years.
Regner retired in 1966 after 24 years in the military. He chose a second career as an auditor and concessions manager for the Army/Air Force Exchange Service which operates the commissary, PX and gas stations on American military bases worldwide. This took him to Vietnam, Dallas, Washington D.C. and Louisville.
In 1972 he retired to Florida's west coast. For the past two years he was a volunteer at the MacDill Air Force Base hospital pharmacy n Tampa, Fla.
Like other family members, he was an avid golfer and boating enthusiast. According to the family, he passed away while playing a round of golf, his favorite pastime.
Regner was a member of the P-51 Mustang Pilots Association, American Legion Post 357, Knights of Columbus Council 2105, Moose Lodge 1145, the American Contract Bridge League, the Boca Ciega Sailing Association, Bay Palms Golf Club and St. Raphael's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Avis R. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sons, Frederick "Fritz" Regner Jr. of St. Petersburg, Matthew Regner of Mebane, N.C.and Col. Michael Regner of Washington D.C., the U.S. Marines' Senior Liaison Officer to the U.S. Congress; a daughter, Patricia Eikenberry of Greenville, Ohio; a sister, Ruth (Edward) Adler of North Fort Myers, Fla.; eight grandchildren; a first cousin, Marion Bohn of West Bend; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Wisconsin and elsewhere.
Anderson McQueen Funeral Homes in St. Petersburg made the funeral arrangements.
The MacDill Air Force Base Honor Guard conducted military honors for the burial service held Aug. 19 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater, Fla.

Gertrude Goldberg, 92
Gertrude Goldberg, nee Price, 92, of Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend, formerly of Port Washington, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999.
She was born Aug. 22, 1907, in Assumption, Ill., to the late Addison and Reba (Moon) Price, and on Sept. 18, 1930, married Elmer A. Goldberg in Port Washington. He passed away in 1976.
Mrs. Goldberg was a member of First Congregational Church, Port Washington and a member and past matron of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two children, Harvey (Donna) of Three Lakes and Patricia Goldberg of Cleveland, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 31, at 2 p.m. at First Congregational Church, Port Washington, with Rev. Jeff Suddendorf officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Port Washington.
Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., and at the church Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.
Eastern Star services will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Memorials to First Congregational Church are appreciated.
