James F. Egan
Former Mequon mayor and alderman James F. Egan died Oct. 6, 1999 of congestive heart failure at his Milwaukee home at the age of 76.
A memorial service was held Saturday at Feerick Funeral Home in Shorewood.
Mr. Egan was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 15, 1922, son of William and Viola Egan. He graduated from Riverside High School, served in the U.S. Army during World War II and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Wisconsin.
Mr. Egan married Penelope Stout in 1950, and the couple moved to Mequon in 1954.
In 1959 he was elected to the Common Council, and ran successfully for mayor in 1965. He served through 1971, and then lost a mayoral election to Thomas Leisle.
Mr. Egan was a past president of the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission and a member of the governor’s study committee on mass transit in the 1970s and a study group of the Comprehensive Health Planning Agency of Southeastern Wisconsin.
Survivors include wife Penelope Egan; son John of Vista, Calif.; daughters Penelope of Whitefish Bay and Sarah of Brooklyn; sister Vi Candee of Campbellsport; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Colin.
William ‘Wally’ Sendrewicz, 83
William "Wally" Sendrewicz, 83, of the town of Wayne, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lomira.
He was born Dec. 19, 1915, in Kenosha, to the late Joseph and Josa (nee Selecka) Sendrewicz.
Mr. Sendrewicz was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church Kewaskum, and loved polka music.
Survivors include special friends Harold and Lilly Westerman of the town of Wayne, and other true friends, Jerry Boden and Annie Feucht, both of Lomira.
Preceding him in death was a brother, John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, town of Wayne. Father Mark Jones will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
The Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, is assisting with services.
Gary R. Gundrum
Gary R. Gundrum of Hartford passed away at his residence on Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999. He was 48 years old.
He was born Jan. 26 1951 in Hartford to Bernard and Helen (nee Horst) Gundrum. He married Debra Ehley on Aug. 20, 1971 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rubicon.
Gary was an employee for Ozaukee County in soil conservation for the last several years.
He is survived by his wife Debra; his parents Bernard of Rubicon and Helen of Slinger; his parents-in-law Don and Lois Ehley of Hartford; two brothers Bernie (Gail) Gundrum of Hartford and Jeff Gundrum of Horicon; six sisters Kathy (Pat) Johnston of Onalaska, Fay (Mike) Selsing of Hartland, Darlene (Mark) Adelmeyer of Lomira, Gail (Mark) Clark of Rubicon, Marlene (Ted) Corey of Allenton and Jean (Frank) Csizmadia of Allenton. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held at Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford Sunday, Nov. 28 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Fletcher officiating. Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Sedonia Thoma, 102
Sedonia Thoma, nee Tesar, 102, of West Bend, formerly of Little Cedar Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
She was born July 13, 1897, in Newburg, to the late Albert and Mary Tesar, and married Edwin Thoma in September, 1917, in Newburg.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Grace Haebig of West Bend; a granddaughter, Mary Ellen (John) De Haven of Shorewood; a grandson, Joseph (Josephina) Beck of Carterville, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Anne Marie De Haven of Chicago, Ill.; other relatives and friends.
A daughter, Evelyn Beck, preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, West Bend. Father Jeff Haines will officiate, and interment of ashes will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at the church before Mass, beginning at 1 p.m.
Memorials are appreciated to St. Frances Catholic Church School Fund.
The Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.
The family extends appreciation for the loving care provided by the Cedar Lake Campus staff.
Carol Berlin Manzoni-Hron, 52
Atty. Carol Berlin Manzoni-Hron of Chicago died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at her residence, at the age of 52.
She was born March 28, 1947, in New York City to the late William H. and Amelia (nee Mendez) Berlin, and married Michael G. Hron on April 7, 1990, in Chicago.
Carol was a prominent labor lawyer and the former co-managing partner of the law firm of Ross and Hardies of Chicago, New York and Washington D.C.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Benjamin and Jonathan, both of Chicago; a sister, Susan (Michael) Klimpl of Doylestown, Pa.; her parents-in-law, Sylvester "Vessie" and Ruth Hron of West Bend; three brothers-in-law, Richard (Mary) Hron of West Bend, Dr. John (Dianne) Hron of Cedarburg and David Hron of Amherst; two step-sisters-in-law, Margaret (Jeff) Hodgson of Waterford and Barbara Boerger of West Bend; two nephews, Jason and Timothy; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. Daniel Klem will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials, in Carol's name, may be given to the Episcopal Cathedral of St. James, 59 E. Huron St., Chicago, Ill. 60611, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Marie J. Luedtke (nee Meer), 89
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, Nov. 15 at St. Cecilia Church in Thiensville for Marie J. Luedtke (nee Meer), 89, who died on Nov. 12, 1999. Private Interment was held at St. Catherine of Alexandria Cemetery. Schramka-Densow Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Survivors include: daughter Carol (Elroy) Depies; sons Jerry (Mary Jane) Luedtke, James “Pinky” (Bonnie) Luedtke; sister Catherine Bienlein; brother Franz (Lorraine) Meer.
Further survived by 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Luedtke.

William J. Alf, 45
William John Alf, 45, of Marshfield, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, as a result of a duck hunting accident in the town of McMillan Wildlife Area.
He was born Dec. 5, 1953, in Marshfield, to Marshall and Rosemarie (nee Ploen) Alf, and graduated from West Bend West High School in 1972.
In 1977 he graduated from Madison General Hospital School of Nursing, and in 1982 from Wausau Hospital Center School of Anesthetist.
Bill was a certified anesthetist at Wausau Hospital from June-November, 1982, when he moved to Marshfield.
He joined the Marshfield Clinic as a certified anesthetist where he was employed up to the time of his death.
He married Cynthia A. Goeden on Aug. 22, 1975, in West Bend.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, cross country skiing, biking and being with his family and two dogs, Lucky and Callie.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mahriah, at home; his parents, Marshall and Rosemarie Alf of West Bend; a brother, Steve of Glidden; two sisters, Jeanne (Pat) Wallschlaeger of Wausau and Donna (Jeff) Weide of Greenfield; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Rembs/Kundinger Chapel, Marshfield, on Wednesday at 7 p.m., with Rev. Mark A. Krueger officiating.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
Nancy Wyman, 52
A memorial service will be held today at 7 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton for Nancy Wyman, 52, who died Oct. 10, 1999.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Betty Jean Bischel will officiate at the ceremony, with Mueller Funeral Home assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Wyman was born April 22, 1947 in Milwaukee, daughter of Ted and Ruth (nee Treichel) Spella.
She married James Wyman and worked as a bookkeeper at Tennies Hardware in West Bend.
Survivors include: father Ted (Betty) Spella of Sun City West, Ariz.; husband James Wyman of West Bend; daughter Jessica Wyman of West Bend; son Zachary Wyman of West Bend; sister Jerilyn (Peter) Norum of Random Lake; sisters-in-law Jeanne (Russ) Mavis of Bay Village, Ohio and Joyce Wyman of La Belle, Fla.; father-in-law Raymond (Evelyn) Wyman of Bay Village, Ohio. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Spella.
