Max E. Stone, 66
Max E. Stone, 66, of West Bend, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, in Lakewood, Calif.
He was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Murray, Ky. to the late Galen and Alma (nee Wilkerson) Stone, and married Rosemary Spychalski in West Bend.
After serving with the U.S. Navy in the Korean Conflict, Max returned to West Bend and was employed as an engineer at St. Joseph's Community Hospital. He retired after 35 years.
He enjoyed hunting with his sons, camping and traveling.
Max was a member of the VFW Post 1393 of West Bend.
Survivors include his wife; seven children, Jay (Lisa) of Wisconsin Rapids, George (Bev) Baerber of Winneconne, Terry (Gloria) Baerber and Randall (Darlene) Baerber, both of West Bend, Kim Tomko of Appleton and Guy (Sandy) Baerber and Carla (Scott) Geib, both of West Bend; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard and "JT" (Rae) of Detroit, Mich.; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend. Pastor Frank A. Bauman will officiate, and interment will be in Newark Cemetery, West Bend, following the service.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials are appreciated.

Bernard W. Mueller
Bernard W. Mueller of Nabob died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999 at St Joseph’s Community Hospital in West Bend at the age of 86.
He was born on April 5, 1913 in the town of Richfield to the late William and Mary (nee Stuettgen) Mueller and married Clare T. Piek on Oct. 5, 1936 at Holy Hill.
In 1942, they started farming in the town of West Bend. From 1948 through 1966, Bernie hauled mile for the Slinger Creamery.
His wife preceded him in death on May 23, 1967.
On June 8, 1968, he married Catherine M. (nee Breit) Dornacker at St. Matthias Church. Catherine preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 1999.
Survivors include four children, Marie (Thomas) Simek of Menomonee Falls, Anthony (Betty) of Rubicon, Eugene of Slinger and Martin (Ginny) of Hillsboro; sic loving and caring step-children, Math (Maricia) Dornacker Jr. of Wisconsin Dells, Ronald (Carol) Dornacker, Kenneth (Helen) Dornacker, Diane (Tom) Schweiger, Nancy (John) Boden and Donna (Robert) Wieting, all of West bend; 14 step-grandchildren nine great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren three sisters, Clara Vollmann of Milwaukee, Eleanor Weidmeyer of Richfield and Helen Kratz of Menomonee Falls; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one son, Sgt. Joseph Mueller, one daughter-in-law, Mary Mueller, two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at St Matthias Chapel, Nabob. Burial will follow and St. Matthias Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until a Prayer Vigil at 8 p.m. and Saturday morning prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, masses or memorials to the St. Lawrence Church Roof Fund are appreciated.

Ernest E. Van Aistine
Ernest E. Van Aistine of Hartford passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 1999 at Hartford Memorial Hospital at the age of 92 years.
Ernest was born Feb. 2, 1907 in Kilbourn, Wis. (Wisconsin Dells) to Warren and Emogene Van Aistine and married Ilse in Minneapolis, Minn.
Mr. Van Aistine graduated from Carroll College, Waukesha, in 1929 and went on to manage stores with the Kresge Corp. From 1951 until 1974 he owned Van Aistine’s Variety Store in Hartford. He was a lifetime member of Hartford’s Lions Club and was also a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Hartford.
Survivors include Ilse, his wife of 65 years; a son, James; two nieces, Joyce (Russell) Schenke and Alice Maynard, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 8 at the Berndt Funeral Home in Hartford from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral service were held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Arv Arveson officiating. Interment was Tuesday, Nov. 9 at Spring Grove Cemetery, Wisconsin Dells.
The Berndt Funeral Home is serving the family.

Charles A. Melton
Charles A. Melton, 52, of West Bend died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999 in West Bend.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1946 in Rhinelander.
After attending Rhinelander schools, Charles served in the U.S. Army and later moved to the West Bend area where he was employed for 13 years by J.T. Roofing Co. of Saukville. Charles was an avid NASCAR fan, especially of Ernie Irvan. Charles also enjoyed deer hunting, working on race cars and racing at the Tomahawk Speedway.
Charles is survived by his wife Cindy, West Bend; his mother Maxine Melton, Rhinelander; daughter Michelle (Steve) Melton, West Bend; nine grandchildren, stepchildren Anthony Woller and Francie (Todd) Hahn, both of Merrill, and Julie Bloom, Rhinelander; brothers Larry and James (Barb), both of Rhinelander; sisters Cheryl (Rocky) Piasecki, Mosinee, Kathy (Ronnie) Johns, Eau Claire and Anne (Chris) Rhode, Sugar Camp. Further survivors include 12 nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his father.
Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Hildebrand-Darton-Russ Funeral Home, 24 E. Davenport St., Rhinelander. Rev. Michael Morning officiated.

Robert N. Becker, 61
Robert N. Becker (Bob) of Hartford, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 23 at his residence. He was 61 years old.
He was born Jan. 12, 1938 in Hartford to Everett and Melania (nee Hug) Becker. He married Kay Wittenberger on Aug. 16, 1958 at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church in Hartford.
Bob worked for 35 years for the Washington County Highway Department until his retirement on Nov. 6, 1998. He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard for several years and also worked part-time as a police security guard. Bob was a member of St. Kilian Church. He enjoyed hunting and working on cars.
He is survived by his wife Kay of Hartford; two sons Thomas (Julie) of Hartford and Steven of Jackson; grandchildren Dustin and Dana Becker of Hartford and Kyle Becker of Jackson; his mother, Melania of Hartford; two brothers, Glenn (Donna) of Cedarburg and Richard (Wendy) of Hartford; a sister, Joan (Kenny) Klink of Rubicon; two sisters-in-law, Ruth (Clarence) Naber of Placitas, N.M. and Marjean (Harry) Kleb of Hartford. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Becker, his father-in-law, Arthur Wittenberger and his mother-in-law, Pearl Bakke-Wittenberger.
Visitation was held at the Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford on Monday, Dec. 27 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial followed Monday at 7 p.m. at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church in Hartford with Father Franklyn Becker officiating. Interment was at St. Kilian Cemetery.
Memorials to St. Kilian School or the American Cancer Society are appreciated.

Irma A. Frank, 89
Irma A. Frank (Margelofsky) of Juneau formerly of Neosho, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 23 at the Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau. She was 89 years old.
She was born April 25, 1910 in Ashippun to Paul and Matilda (Miller) Margelofsky. She married Leohard Frank on April 19, 1931 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neosho.
She was employed at Libby’s Canning Company in Hartford for many years and also the Copper Mug in Neosho. She loved her family and loved baking.
She is survived by four daughters, Doris (Martin) Callies of Hartford, Myrtle (Luke) Gundrum of Rubicon, Florence (Floyd) Polster of Rubicon and Shirley Weiss of Beecher; two sons, Paul (Carol) Frank of Mayville and Bob (Sherri) Frank of Amberg; a son-in-law Donnie (special friend Jean) Fuiten of Rubicon; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Frank of Lakewood; 32 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lavern Johnson of Oconomowoc and Ruth Woock of Hartford.
She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leohard Frank; a son, Arnold; a daughter, Alice Fuiten; a son-in-law, Dave Weiss; and a grandson, Jeff Polster.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neosho with Rev. David Meister officiating. Visitation at the church was on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and internment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Neosho.
Shimon Funeral Home assisted the family.

Albert F. ‘Al’ Schroeder, 69
Albert F. "Al" Schroeder, 69, of the town of Trenton, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at his residence.
He was born July 18, 1930, in Milwaukee to the late Joseph and Helen Schroeder, and married Rosemary T. Shaw on Jan. 30, 1975, in Waukegan, Ill. She passed away Jan. 7, 1993.
Following their marriage the couple lived in Milwaukee, moving to the town of Trenton in 1976.
He was an independent truck driver for J.L. Shandy of Chicago for over 26 years, retiring in 1995.
Survivors include four children, Beverly (Dennis) Franke of Franklin, Donna (Ronald) Herman of the town of Trenton, Mary Joers of Brown Deer and Ruthanne (James) Degen of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Caroline Frugeman of Cicero, Ill. and Lorraine (Gil) Horenberger of Brookfield; four brothers, Matt of Green Lake, Adolph (Dolores) of Grafton, Joseph (Shirley) of New Berlin and George (Laurie) of Tucson, Ariz.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Al was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Newburg.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend. Father James Strupp will officiate, and cremation will be at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to the Vincent Lombardi Cancer Research Center are appreciated.

Harold ‘Hise’ ‘Harry’ A. Schmidt, 67
Harold "Hise", "Harry" A. Schmidt, 67, passed away at his home in Seattle on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999 surrounded by his best friend and loving wife Sandra and son Michael.
He was born Aug. 30, 1932 to Henry and Hildegard (Peters) Schmidt in West Bend. He moved to the Seattle area in 1968.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving in the Korean Conflict from November 1951 to February 1954.
He is survived by sisters Mary Ann Kissinger, West Bend, Violet (Linus) Becker of Minocqua, Rose Mary (George) Steffen of Cedarburg, Doris (Harold) Gauger of West Bend, Phillis Gahagan of West Allis; brothers Marvin (Dolores) of West Allis, ; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother Donald, sister-in-law Jeanette and brother-in-law Alfred Kissinger.
A funeral memorial Mass will be held at Holy Angels Church Catholic Church, 138 N. Eighth Ave., West Bend Saturday at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Northwest Cancer Center Foundation, 1560 N. 115th St., Suite G16, Seattle, Wash. 98133 or the Hope Heart Institute, 528 18th Ave., Seattle, Wash. 98122.
