Barbara A. Hetzel
Barbara A. Hetzel (nee Mortenson) of Rubicon died on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee. She was 59 years old.
She was born March 21, 1940 in Hartford to Gordon and Margaret (nee Laubenheimer) Mortenson. She married Frank Hetzel on Nov. 8. 1958 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rubicon.
She is survived by her husband, Frank of Rubicon; stepmother, Marie Deutsch of Hartford; four sons, Todd (Janet) of Iron Ridge, David (Sally) and Joseph, both of Rubicon, and Robert (Linda) of Hartford; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Tina, Tony, Nicole, Cody, Bradley, Dakota, Brittny, and Alex; two stepbrothers, Dennis of Texas and Brad of Arkansas; stepsisters, Mary of Texas and Lori of Cedarburg. Barbara is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Margaret; parents-in-law Frank and Marie; brother Gordon Mortenson; sister-in-law Diane; and stepfather, Ozzie Deutsch.
Private services will be held by the family.

Eleanor Dettmann
Eleanor Dettmann (nee Henke) passed away Oct. 18 at her home in Conover.
Mrs. Dettmann was born to Fred and Helen (Kohler) Henke of Plat May 30, 1920. She married Elmer Dettman Oct. 22, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Holy Hill.
Her husband, Elmer, and her son Arnold preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Dettman was a lifelong member of the St. Columba Catholic Church at Lake Five, as well as a member of the Birthday Club, the Lake Five Card Club, and also the prayer chain and the Christian Mothers Alter Society.
She and Elmer were members of the Lake Five Senior Citizen Group.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Jim) Barnekow of Conover and Susan (James) Schlink of Rubicon; a son, Robert of Conover; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Oct. 22 at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River, with Rev. William Horath officiating. Burial was in Hildegard Cemetery in Conover.

Lester L. Giese
Lester L. Giese of Juneau died Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau. He was 75 years old.
He was born Sept. 4, 1924 in Hartford to Frank and Ella Giese.
He worked for Midas International and Libby’s. He enjoyed baseball and baseball trivia.
He is survived by sister-in-law, Vernette Giese of Mayville; and nephews, Mark (Dawn) Giese and David Trott, both of Mayville. Lester is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Franklyn.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 pm at Shimon Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Noldan officiating. Visitation at the funeral home was on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm. Interment, Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Lois M. Van Dyke
Lois M. Van Dyke of Hustisford passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27 at Clearview Nursing Home at the age of 88 years. Preceded in death by her former husband Bartholomew D. Van Dyke.
Survivors include her two sons, David (Geraldine) Van Dyke of Mesa, Ariz. and Allen (Susan) Van Dyke of Hustisford. She was the grandmother of Crystal, Cassandra and Cara of Concorde, Calif. and Jared of Hustisford. Also survived by nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Alma Bush of Watertown, Ferne Kohn of Hustisford and her brother Allen Lapp of Richwood.
Visitation was Friday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Berndt Funeral Home-Hustisford and Saturday from 9 to10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Hustisford. The funeral service took place at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment was at Hustisford Cemetery.
Mrs. Van Dyke was a member of the American Auxiliary in Hustisford for 55 years and she was past president of the Auxiliary. She was a charter member of the Hustisford Historical Society and past Leader of Sinissippi 4-H Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hustisford, a former elder of the church, Sunday School teacher and member of the Evening Circle. Mrs. VanDyke worked for the Hustisford School System for nearly 27 years and retired in June 1982.

Elfrieda I. Quandt
Elfrieda I. Quandt of Hartford passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19 at Hartford Memorial Hospital at the age of 70 years. She was born Oct. 30, 1928 in the township of Herman to parents Walter and Lydia Quandt. Elfrieda was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Hartford.
She is survived by two nephews, three brothers and many friends at Senior Friends and other relatives.
Visitation took place on Oct. 23 at Berndt Funeral Home from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The funeral service was at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Jon Tesch officiating. Interment was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Ralph E. Daley
Ralph E. Daley, 79, of West Bend, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
He was born Aug. 7, 1920, in the town of Erin, to the late Joseph and Margaret (nee Goetz) Daley.
He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After his marriage to Gertrude Vahl on Jan. 4, 1947, at St. John's Church, Monches, they settled in Hartford until 1951 when they came to West Bend.
Ralph was employed at St. Joseph's Community Hospital as a licensed maintenance engineer from 1951 until retiring in 1982.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also loved gardening. Ralph was a member of the Hartford VFW Post 8834.
Survivors include his wife; eight children, Ellen (Gerald) Steier and Joseph (Colleen), both of West Bend, Tom of Cedarburg, Kathleen (James) Hawig of Campbellsport, Patricia (Scott) Schweitzer, Michael (Susan), Arleen (Ronald) Koepsel and Daniel (Christine), all of West Bend; 16 grandchildren; one brother, James (Dorothy) and a sister, Evelyn (James) Stapleton, both of Hartford; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a son, Ralph in infancy; a granddaughter, Mary Colleen Daley; and a brother, Clarence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church. Fr. Patrick Wendt will be the presider, and burial will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery (new).
Visitation at the church only will be Monday from 4 to 6:45 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

Mildred A Welhoefer
Mildred A Welhoefer (nee Pieper) of Hustisford passed away on Tuesday Oct. 19 at her residence. She was 78 years old.
She was born March 19, 1921 in Hustisford to Paul and Helena (nee Groth) Pieper. She married Elton Welhoefer on May 11, 1946 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Hustisford.
Mildred was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She loved crafts, sewing and playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by her husband Elton, a daughter Sandy (Allen) Pieper of Hustisford, a son Wayne (Shirley) Welhoefer of Neosho, five grandchildren, three brothers, a sister, a brother-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Hustisford, with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Visitation at the church was on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Internment took place at Hustisford Cemetery and memorials can be sent to the church or to a charity of one’s choice.

Loretta C. Hagen, 92
Loretta C. Hagen, nee Gehl, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, at the age of 92.
She was born Oct. 5, 1907, in St. Lawrence, to the late Matthew and Alvina (nee Ziegelbauer) Gehl, and married Jacob Hagen on Jan. 27, 1923, at St. Kilian's Catholic Church, Hartford.
She worked as a sewer in a shoe factory.
Loretta lived in Hartford for 50 years and was a member of Royal Neighbors for over 50 years.
Survivors include four sons, Robert (Gloria) of Illinois, James (Luella) of Princeton, Donald (Donna) of Hartford and Howard (Beverly) of Milwaukee; three daughters, Mary Jean Pankratz of West Bend, Phyllis Ribbens of Waukesha and Joan (Donald) Kastenholz of Brookfield; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Karen Hagen of Sussex; a stepbrother, Alfred (Lorraine) Schodron of Slinger; a stepsister, Eva Jane (Melvin) Obermeyer of Slinger; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband; a son, Thomas; sons-in-law, Robert Pankratz and John Ribbens; a granddaughter, Cheryl Ziebell; and her stepfather, John Schodron.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Kilian's Church, Hartford Father Michael Petrie will officiate and interment will be in St. Kilian's Cemetery.
Visitation at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, will be Friday from 9 to 10:40 a.m.

Louis J. Lauters, 87
Louis J. Lauters, 87, of Beechwood, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at Beechwood Rest Home, Beechwood.
He was born July 1, 1912, in the town of Port Washington, to the late Henry and Mary (nee Hagel) Lauters, and on May 27, 1933, married Margaret Leider at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Saukville. She passed away on Sept. 22, 1995.
Mr. Lauters was a member of St. Matthias Catholic Church, town of Auburn, Beechwood Senior Citizens and the Kewaskum XYZ Club.
His special hobbies included playing sheepshead, bowling and farming.
Survivors include three sons, James (Joann) of Campbellsport, Ronald (special friend, Nellie Dowdal) of Hixton and Daniel (Helen) of Kewaskum; two daughters, Irene (Leroy) Gnacinski of Beechwood and Gladys (Clayton) Weinreich of Fillmore; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, John, Carl, Nickolas and Henry; five sisters, Mary Dundore, Margaret Kugel, Anastasia Elwert, Theresa Schimberg and Viola Schroeder; an infant son; and three grandchildren, Scott, Jim and Karla.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at the Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Matthias Catholic church, town of Auburn. Father Mark Jones will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 p.m. until a prayer vigil at 8 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Beechwood Rest Home or Holy Trinity Catholic School.
