Arla M. Johnson, 75
Arla M. Johnson, nee Glaesman, 75, of Big Cedar Lake in West Bend, formerly of Wauwatosa, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
She was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Markesan, to the late William and Rose (nee Ewald) Glaesman.
After her marriage to Dwight M. Johnson in Markesan on April 26, 1946, they lived in Wauwatosa for many years, moving to Big Cedar Lake in 1990.
Arla was a past member of the American Guild of Organists, the Wauwatosa Women's Club and an organist and member of Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Gwen (Tom) Williams and Gayle (Greg) Dombrow; grandchildren, Melanie and Bradley Williams, Joe and Alex Dombrow; sisters, Iva Parker and Verna (Emerson) Kellom; a brother-in-law, Paul Johnson; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will beheld Thursday Jan. 6 from 5 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m. at Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church, 1529 Wauwatosa Ave.
Entombment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wisconsin Parkinsons Association are appreciated.
Schmidt and Bartelt of Wauwatosa are in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Fredrick
Arthur O. Fredrick, 93, of Rubicon passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 at Hartford Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 8, 1906 in Buffalo township, Wis. to Julius and Amelia Fredrick.
He was married to Leona C. Pfuehler Dec. 20, 1930 in Portage at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
He is survived by his wife; sons Harland (Margaret) Fredrick of Hartford and Kenneth (Elaine) Fredrick of Wisconsin Rapids; and daughter Donna (Roger) Malchow of Slinger. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neosho and Rev. David. W. Meister officiated. Interment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
The Berndt Funeral Home served the family.

Angela E. Leitheiser, 86
Angela E. Leitheiser, nee Ewert, of West Bend, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at her residence, at the age of 86.
She was born Feb. 24, 1913, in Theresa, to the late William and Marie (nee Duehring) Ewert.
After her marriage to Louis Leitheiser the couple settled in West Bend. He passed away on Dec. 7, 1959.
Angela was employed at The West Bend Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1975.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheting, and was a member of the 25-year Club at The West Bend Co.
Survivors include three children, Diane (Harlon) Ekvall of West Bend, Kenneth (Carol) Clermont, Fla. and Barbara (Jim) Baka of Mequon; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Victoria Gonring of West Bend and Gertrude Hlavemka of Eagle River; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Marilyn Klug; a great-grandson, David Leitheiser; two sisters; and a brother.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 6 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Pastor Cal Seban will officiate, and burial of the cremated remains will be in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 4 to 5:45 p.m.
Those who wish may give memorials to the American Cancer Society.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

William Merriman
William F. Merriman of Hayward passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 1999 at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee after a brief illness at the age of 84 years.
He was the dear husband of Louise, nee Thelaner, of Mequon; dear father of Jane (Jack) Derr of West Bend and Carol (Skip) Scwind of Hubertus; dear grandfather of Lynn Derr; Wende (Mike) Prucha, William (Allison) Scwind and Carrie Scwind; dear great great grandfather of Carson Prucha; dear brother of Everal (Donna) Merriman, Max (Betty) Merriman, Maxine (Laverne) Buck, Monie Merriman, Merlin (Bonnie) Merriman; brother-in-law of Gene Rudiger; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Private services will be held.
The Berndt Funeral Home is serving the family.

John Milner
John E. Milner of the town of Ashippun died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999 at home at age 67.
He was born Nov. 16, 1932 to John and Sophie (nee Bocowski) Milner in Milwaukee and married Kathleen Wunder on April 14, 1956.
Mr. Milner was president of the Brewery Credit Union, retiring in 1995. He was also a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Ashippun Sportsman’s Club and Credit Union Review Board for the state of Wisconsin. He also served the U.S. Army in Korea.
He is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, son Dean and brother Gene.
Survivors include children, Jeffrey (Kim) of Oconomowoc, Richard "Chip" (Connie) of Slinger and Susann (Joe) Schmitt of Ashippun; five grandchildren, Heidi, Cody, Tom, Chad and Hunter, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 E. Summit Ave., Highway 67, Oconomowoc. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Mapleton, with Rev. David Verhasselt officiating. Burial followed in St. Catherine’s cemetery.
The Pagenkopf Funeral Home served the family.

Eric Willard "Ricky" Schatz
Eric Willard "Ricky" Schatz, 45, of Franksville, formerly of Hartford, died Dec. 5, 1999.
Beloved husband of Sandy (Miller); loving son of Willard and Merle (Gerken); brother of Robert (Alice), Kathy Verbanac, Coreen (Jeff) King, the late Janet and Daniel Schatz; son-in-law of Walter and Erna Miller. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999 at the Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home. A private burial was held at Forest Home Cemetery in Richfield. Memorials are appreciated.

Roland "Rollie" Vergenz
Roland "Rollie" H. Vergenz, 90, of Juneau passed away on Dec. 23, 1999.
He was born on Oct. 4, 1909 in Juneau to Herman and Amanda Vergenz. Roland married Ruth J. (Hichey) in 1947.
After his retirement from the Dodgeland School System, he enjoyed tending bar at the Blew Inn Restaurant. Roland was an avid gardener and supported and loved the many recreational baseball leagues in Juneau.
Preceding him in death was his wife, who died in 1967; his parents and a brother Merlin.
He is survived by his sons, John (Elly) Vergenz of Blaine, Minn. and James (Kathleen) Vergenz of Clyman; daughter Jane (James) Hoffman of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was an active member at Immaculate Conception Church, and served as a member of the Juneau American Legion Post #15, the library board and the election board.
Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Juneau. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at noon with Rev. Eugene Kinney officiating. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Memorials to the Juneau Public Library are appreciated.

Laura Gutjahr
Laura E. Gutjahr of Hartford passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at the age of 86 years.
She was born in Hilsburg, Wis. Aug. 24, 1913 to Karl and Olga Bohn. Laura married Henry Gutjahr Nov. 24, 1937 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and a son.
Laura is survived by her husband Henry, her sons Charles (Marion) Steffen of Fayatteville, N.C. and Larry (Sandi) Gutjahr of Sussex. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a brother Armand Bohn and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Berndt Funeral Home, Hartford, and Friday at Peace Lutheran Church from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Funeral services were Friday at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Jon Tesch officiating.
Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Memorials to Peace Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

Shirley Marie Weasler, 50
Shirley Marie Weasler, nee Zosky, of West Bend, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa, at the age of 50.
She was born April 27, 1949, in Peoria, Ill., to the late Albert and Marie (nee Zoghzoghi) Zosky and was an alumna of The Academy of Our Lady High School in Peoria and Marquette University, Milwaukee.
On Oct. 3, 1979, she married Anthony V. Weasler II of West Bend at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Peoria.
Shirley was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, the Christian Women's Confraternity, Marquette University High School Mother's Guild, a Girl Scout leader of Troop 135, a life member of Marquette University President's Council, and a life member of the Abbot Marmion Society of Marmion Abby and Academy in Aurora, Ill.
She was also an active volunteer at St. Frances Cabrini School.
Survivors include her husband; six children, Anthony III of Milwaukee, Jill, Bethany, Marc, Joseph and Elizabeth, all at home; three sisters, Diane Normoyle of Moline, Ill., Judy (Hon. Mike) Mihm of Peoria and Renee (Bob) Bladek of Fresno, Calif.; three brothers, Thomas of Peoria, Edmund (Diane) of East Peoria, Ill. and Joseph (Susan) of Hinsdale, Ill.; her father-in-law, Anthony V. Weasler Sr. of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a brother-in-law, Don Normoyle and her mother-in-law, Lucille Weasler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 5 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church. Father Jeff Haines will be the principal presider, and burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the church only will be Wednesday from 1 to 4:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Frances Cabrini Education Fund or to Marquette University High School.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.
