Gertrude L. Harter
Gertrude L. Harter, nee Riesch, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, at the age of 88.
She was born June 13, 1911, in Dodge County, to the late Benjamin and Clara (nee Sprenger) Riesch, and married Elmer A. Harter on Nov. 18, 1933, in Michigan City, Ind.
Following their marriage, the couple settled in West Bend.
Gertrude will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Steven (Luella), Robert (Sue) and Daniel (Pat), all of West Bend and David (Catherine) of Madison; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen (Russ) Roecker of West Bend; eight grandchildren,Michael (Jennifer), Mark (Rebecca), Tim (Sara), Lisa (Scott) Christianson, Dina, Amy (Paul) Johnson, Pamela (Gregory) Jochims and Lori (Michael) Kurer; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn Gehl of Des Moines, Iowa;other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were two sons, Richard and Donald; a granddaughter, Diana Harter; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Van Riesch, Leroy Riesch and Roy Riesch; three stepbrothers, Tom Riesch, James Riesch and Robert Bradley; a stepsister, Esther Geidel, and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Kaniess.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. Terry Berg will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from noon until 1:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.

Harmony Weissbach
A funeral service will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church of Cedarburg for Harmony Weissbach, 85, who died on Jan. 22, 2000. Schramka-Gunther Funeral Home, Cedarburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ms. Wiessbach graduated from Downer College in Milwaukee in 1936 and received her master’s degree from UW-Madison. She taught in Milwaukee Public Schools for 40 years teaching German, French and world history.
She was an active member of Community United Methodist Church of Cedarburg where she taught Christian Education to young and old. Other church positions included being past president of the United Methodist Women, member of the church choir for over 25 years and former choir director for 17 years.
Along with serving on numerous committees, she was a member of the College Woman’s Club AAUW, helping women get loans to continue their education. She was also active in the League of Women Voters, of which she was past president, and was a board member of the Ozaukee Jail Literacy Program. She was a strong supporter of The Gamaliel Chair which promotes education and awareness of peace and justice. She was also involved with Interfaith Council of Greater Milwaukee and Advocates of Ozaukee County.
Survivors include: cousin Dorothy Bartelt, Milwaukee; niece Jean Palmer, Germantown; nephews Gordon and William Simons, other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the church and will be distributed to her favorite charities.

Ruth Herzinger
A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at Divine Word Catholic Church, Cedarburg, for Ruth Herzinger (nee Armbruster), 79, who died Jan. 20, 2000 at Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation, Cedarburg.
Visitation will be at the church from 5 p.m., with Father George Gajdos to officiate at the 7 p.m. Mass. Inurnment will be at Zur Ruhe Cemetery.
Mrs. Herzinger was born Dec. 13, 1920, daughter of George and Jennie (nee Barth) Armbruster. She was a fourth generation Hilgen, one of the founding families of Cedarburg.
She married Henry ‘Hankö Herzinger, and he preceded her in death. A homemaker, Mrs. Herzinger loved painting and gardening.
She attended Divine Word Catholic Church, Cedarburg.
Survivors include daughters Betty (Kurt) Schanz of Cedarburg and Kathy (Michael) Weber of Milwaukee; sister Helen Bruederle of Cedarburg; grandchildren Denise Schanz of Milwaukee, Derek A. Schanz of Cedarburg, Joseph ‘Joshö Weber of Milwaukee and Tracy Weber of Milwaukee; four great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by sister Lillian Rix, grandchildren Henry Karl Schanz and Michelle ‘Shellyö Weber.
Spiritual offerings for Masses would be appreciated.

Charles H. Drews
Charles H. Drews, 75, of West Bend, formerly of Milwaukee, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
He was born April 1, 1924, in Clinton, Iowa, to the late Edward and Olga (Venske) Drews, and was raised in Milwaukee.
He attended Riverside High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
After his marriage to Hazel M. Kreuser on Nov. 9, 1946, at St. Boniface Catholic Church,, Milwaukee, the couple lived in Milwaukee.
He was employed at the Milwaukee Athletic Club for over 43 years, retiring in 1989.
The couple settled in West Bend in 1992.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Dennis (Melissa) of Mayville, Donna (Olafa) Hammerstad of Plover and Debra (David) Santopoalo of West Bend; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Allen (Kathy) of Hernando, Miss.; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Drews of Dayton, Ohio and Lorraine Drews of Freeport, Fla.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were two brothers and a son, Wayne.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes, Brookfield. Pastor Oscar Kraft will officiate, and interment will take pace at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
Visitation at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes, will be Wednesday from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Memorials to the Disabled Veterans of America are appreciated.
The Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, is assisting the family.

Roma Wolf
A funeral service was held on Friday at Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton for Roma Wolf, 82, who died on Jan. 18, 2000. Rev. Franz Rigert officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton. Burial was at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
Mrs. Wolf was born April 3, 1917 in Cedarburg, daughter of Robert and Johanna (nee Mohrheusen) Schultz. She married William Wolf and owned and operated the Grafton Beauty Shop for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary and attended Pilgrim United Church of Christ.
Survivors include: husband William Wolf of Grafton; daughters Suzanne (Ralph) Miller of Random Lake and Shirlee Wolf of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother Melvin (June) Schultz; grandchildren Michelle, Ralph Jr. (Lori) and Marshal.
Further survived by five great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Robert C. "Bob" Hron
Robert C. "Bob" Hron, 74, of West Bend, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at his residence.
He was born June 8, 1925, in West Bend, to the late Michael and Amalia (Katzenberger) Hron, and graduated in 1944 from West Bend High School.
Later he served with the U.S.Navy during world War II.
After his marriage to Theresa M. Spaeth on June 10, 1961, at St. Frances Cabrini Church, West Bend, the couple lived in West Bend.
He was self employed as an architect for over 10 years. He was also the assessor for the city of West Bend from Nov. 1, 1960 until retiring June 7, 1995.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Jacqueline (Mark) Schomisch of Fond du Lac and Joanne (Bernie) Krantz of Madison; three grandchildren, Monica Schomisch of Fond du Lac and Robert and Katherine Krantz of Madison; a sister, Adeline Hron of West Bend, and on Theresa's side, a brother-in-law William Spaeth of West Bend and three sisters-in-law, Armella (Ralph) Schaefer of Hartford, Bernadette Spaeth of West Bend and Vivian (James) Lisko of West Bend. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend. Father Jerome Repenshek will officiate, with a 9:30 a.m. closing of the casket prayer at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.
Interment will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials to the American Heart Association or Holy Angels Building Fund are appreciated.

Marie L. Schmidt, 85
Marie L. Schmidt, nee Roecker, of Hartford, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Wellington Place at the age of 85.
She was born Nov. 4, 1914, in the town of Addison, to the late Charles and Elsie (nee Basler) Rocker.
Marie was employed at Bloomberg's of Menomonee Falls in the early 1970s.
She played the kazoo in the Kitchenaire Band, and was a member of Hartford Senior Friends and St. John's United Church of Christ.
Marie enjoyed crocheting, loved music, and played the organ and piano all her life.
She will also be remembered for her butterscotch pies.
Survivors include three sons, Roger of Milwaukee, Gerald (Sandra) of Virginia and Kenneth (Carol) of the town of Polk; two daughters, Darlene Watson of Arizona and Sandra (Paul) Forgach of Brown Deer; a brother, George (Sylvia) Roecker of West Bend; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and many dear and special friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 27 at noon at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated.

Kenneth H. Faber, 56
Kenneth H. Faber, 56, of Eau Claire, died suddenly Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, in Chippewa Falls.
He was born May 19, 1943, in Jackson, to Clarence and Bernice (Graff) Faber.
He graduated from West Bend High School in 1960 and from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1964.
On Aug. 25, 1962, he married Christine Fortney in Wheeler.
Ken taught woodworking at Chippewa Falls Senior High School from 1964-'78, and also at the Chippewa Falls Vocational School. He owned FM Construction Co., doing remodeling and cabinet making.
Ken was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.
Survivors include his fiancee, Nila Moe of Eau Claire and her two sons, Ronald (Beverly) Day of Dousman and James (Jacqueline) Day of Oconomowoc; two daughters, Laura (Dale) Konwinski of Chippewa Falls and Jennifer (Robert) Kysilko of Cornell; two sons, Kevin (Wanda) Faber of Cornell and Eric (Rachel) Faber of Clarksville, Tenn.; his parents, Bernice and Clarence Faber of West Bend; three sisters, Darlene (Harry) Brown of Grafton, Karen (Pete) Krueger of Milwaukee and Diane Faber of West Bend; 12 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and his dog, Daisy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, with Rev. Howard A. Kusler officiating. Entombment took place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday from noon until the time of services with a luncheon to follow.
Memorials are appreciated.
