Andrew Grichtmeier
Andrew "Andy" Grichtmeier, 72, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Hubertus, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, after a long battle with cancer.
Andy started his career in the building trades; however, for the past 30 years he was the owner and operator of the Sail Inn Tavern in Hubertus, along with Beverly, his wife of 50 years.
Andy retired to Fort Myers in 1997.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Andrew J. (Susan) of Newport, R.I. and Gary (Diane) of Kewaskum; a brother, Elmer (Shirley) of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandchildren, Greg and Austin; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.
Burial services were private.

Sam W. Wilson
Sam W. Wilson, 82, of Lannon, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000.
He is survived by Dottie, his loving wife of 60 years; five sons, Garwood (Mary) of Waukesha, Miles (Donna) of Campbellsport, Randall (Jayne) of Florida, Wendall (Linda) of Adell and Terry (Theresa) of Wales; two daughters, Dixie (Bob) Spencer of Stoughton and Kimberly (Rick) Kimball of Menomonee Falls; 39 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Bartelt Funeral Home, Menomonee Falls.

Lena L. Nehm
Lena L. Nehm, formerly of Hartford, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2000 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home at the age of 93 years.
She was born March 5, 1906 in Summit, Wis. to parents Aaron and Lillie Lawton. She was married to Louis Nehm on Oct. 14, 1936 in Hartford. She is preceded in death by her husband.
Lena is survived by her daughters Doris Belling of Lomira and Lois (Keith) Jahnke of Toccoa, Ga. She is the loving grandmother of Robert (Sharon) Belling of Lomira, Sharon (Tony) Del Ponte of Lomira and Kristy and Kevin Jahnke of Toccoa, Ga. She is survived by her brother William (Lois) Lawton of Mauston and sister-in-law Agnes Lawton of Mauston. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Berndt Funeral Home in Hartford. Funeral Services are to follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment is at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Freese, Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Nehm was past president of the Senior Doers of Hartford past president of Priscilla Circle at St. John's United Church of Christ and a long time member of St. John's The Berndt Funeral Home is serving the family.

Wanda A. Roever
Wanda A. Roever, nee Taggart, 63, of Slinger died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of West Bend.
She was born June 21, 1936, in Manawa to Robert and Evelyn (nee Kostrzak) Taggart, and married John T. "Jack" Roever on August 31, 1957 in Manawa.
Born and raised in Manawa, Wis., she attended Little Wolf High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1954. She then attended UW-Oshkosh for four years, graduating in 1958 with a BS Degree in Education. She did post-graduate work at the University of Toronto Canada, UW-Milwaukee and Carroll College of Waukesha, completing her Master's Degree. Her Master's Degree was awarded in Carl Orff Method of Music Education. After marriage, the couple lived in Wauwatosa, where she taught in the Elmbrook School District.
The couple finally settled in Washington County in 1965. She was a newspaper reporter for the West Bend Daily News. In 1972, she became treasurer for the town of Polk for 10 years. She then became the State Director for the U.S. Senate for Sen. Robert W. Kasten for 12 years, retiring in 1993.
Afterward, she devoted herself to volunteer activities as the Washington County Representative for the Southeast Regional Health Planning Commission and the Washington County Humane Society. She was presently active with the Republican Party of Washington County, the Wisconsin Sesquicentennial Committee of Washington County, the vice-chair of the Washington County Civil Service Commission and chairperson for the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board.
A member of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Slinger, she was a devoted wife, mother and daughter who loved plants and flowers.
Survivors include her husband; two children, Mary (John) Macukas of Norfolk, Va. and Peter Roever of West Bend; her mother, Evelyn Goetz of Manawa; a sister, Katherine Larson of LaCrosse; two brothers; Thomas Goetz of Wautoma and James "Joe" (Nancy) Goetz of Jackson, Mo., and special friend "Humphrey," the family dog and spokesdog for the Washington County Humane Society. She was further survived by nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was her father, Robert, and stepfather, Leonard Goetz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Slinger with Fr. Robert J. Bales officiating.
Visitation will be at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend on Monday, Jan. 31 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Closing of the casket prayers will be at 10 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home on Tuesday.
Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery of Slinger following the Mass.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.

Alice B. Stefan
Alice B. Stefan, 84, of Berlin, formerly of Winneconne, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000 at Berlin Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 12, 1915 in Horicon to August and Bertha (Stahlkopf) Werner. She married Victor Stefan on Dec. 23, 1967 in Horicon. They made their home in Pike Lake and in 1978 they moved to the Town of Winneconne. In 1996 they moved to Berlin.
Her husband preceded her in death on June 29, 1996.
She was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Donald and Diane Schlegel of Horicon; one daughter and son-in-law LouAnn and Donald Kehi of Ashippun; one brother, Clarence Werner of Horicon; one sister and brother-in-law Gladys and Carl Bernhard of Theresa; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Stefan; two brothers, Raymond and Palmer; and one sister, Hilda.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne, with Pastor John Covach and Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial was Monday at 1 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, Horicon. Friends and relatives may call at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
A memorial has been established to St. Paul 's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne.
The Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, is serving the family.

Kathleen Stewart
Kathleen Stewart of Milwaukee, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2000 at the Marina View Manor. She was 54 years old. She was born July 17, 1945.
Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 28, 2000 at the old St. Kilian's Cemetery.

Ray A. Keller, 70
Ray A. Keller, 70, of Kewaskum, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend.
He was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Batavia, to the late Roman "Inky" and Althea "Faye" (Holz) Keller, and on April 25, 1953, married Amatta Lichtensteiger at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Campbellsport.
Ray was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kewaskum.
He was employed by Regal Ware Inc., Kewaskum, for 43 years, and at the time of his retirement in 1992 was chief inspector in the Quality Control Department.
Ray was a member of the Regal Ware 25-Year club, and served his country in the U.S. Army in 1948.
Ray loved life. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and golf.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cheryl (Frank) Fellenz of Campbellsport and Dawn (Doug) Franzen of Kewaskum; four grandchildren, Carrie Fellenz (fiance Scott Jones), Bruce Fellenz, Lisa (Jon) Walczak and Doug Franzen (fiancee Tiffany Ramthun); a sister-in-law, Carole Zehren of the town of Auburn; other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Lloyd "Cocky" Keller and a great-granddaughter, Mikaela.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kewaskum. Rev. Timothy Henning will officiate, and entombment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
Visitation at the church only will be Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
The Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, is serving the family.

Richard J. Sander
Richard James Sander, 71, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000.
Dick was born in Milwaukee, and was the president and owner of Falls Collection Service until he sold it in November, 1999.
He founded the Credit Bureau of West Bend in 1963.
Dick was a past president of the West Bend Kiwanis Noon Club, a past member of St. Frances Cabrini School Board, a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Slinger, the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce, the American Collectors Association and the Wisconsin Collectors Association.
He loved the times he spent with his grandchildren, was an avid tennis player and enjoyed landscaping.
Dick started each day with a goal of making at least three people smile. He easily attained this.
He was the beloved husband of Judy (nee Knox) with whom he shared homes in Scottsdale and Big Cedar Lake.
Dick is further survived by his daughters, Mary Sander of West Bend, and Susan (Patrick) Flattery of Duluth, Minn; his stepsons, Mitch (Susan) Knox and Greg (Melissa) Knox; his grandchildren, Ryan, Michael and Meghan Flattery and step-grandchildren, Rob, Will, Rebecca, Molly and Abby Knox. He is further survived by a sister, Marianne Kubousek of Brookfield.
Preceding him in death were his son, John; his parents, Marie (Kastner) and Herman Sander; a sister, Gloria Dietrich; a brother, Tom; and an infant step-granddaughter, Katy Knox.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 5 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Slinger, from 10 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Foundation or Exodus House of Kewaskum are appreciated.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.
