Mrs. Doris E. Thorn
Mrs. Doris E. Thorn, of Kewaskum, passed away on Monday, Feb. 14, 2000 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital in West Bend. She was 79 years old.
She was born on July 15, 1920 in Hartford, the daughter of the late Victor and Harriet (nee Foote) Hauschel. On Nov. 9, 1940 she was united in marriage to Herbert Thorn at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford.
Mrs. Thorn was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.
Survivors include four sons, James (Lois) of Hustisford, John (Linda) of Kewaskum, Raymond (Mary) of West Bend and Michael (Joy) of Campbellsport; two sisters, Mary Smith of West Bend and Lucille Collins of Hartford; four grandchildren, Jeff, Kurt, Bobbie Jo and Nick Thorn; three step-grandchildren, Scott (Tracy) Biertzer, Ginger Biertzer, and Brenda (Todd) Gress; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 15, 1998, and a daughter, Jane Marie on Sept. 4, 1960.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the church only on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Mark Jones will officiate and burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in the parish cemetery.

Katherine T. Butzler
Katherine T. Butzler (nee Schnitzler) of Hartford passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000 at the Hartford Memorial Hospital. She was 101 years old.
She was born Oct. 16, 1898 in St. Lawrence to John and Anna (nee Hug) Schnitzler. She married the late George A. Butzler Sr. on June 28, 1921 at St. Kilian's Catholic Church in Hartford. Katherine had retired from food service at the Hartford Union High School. She was a member of St. Kilian's Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by her son Bob (LaVerne) Butzler of Hartford; three daughters, Mary Ann (Mark Y.) Hite of Modesto, Calif., Margaret (Doug) Smith of Hartford, and Sister Helen Butzler of Milwaukee; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Butzler Sr. on June 25, 1975; her son, George J. Butzler Jr.; four brothers; and one sister.
Mass of Christian burial was Saturday, Feb. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Kilian's Catholic Church with Father John Campbell officiating. Visitation was Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home. Prayer service was Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Interment at St. Kilian's Cemetery. Memorials to School Sisters of St. Francis, St. Kilian's Building Fund or Hartford Memorial Hospital Family Hospice Unit appreciated.
Lavern B. Schmidt
Lavern B. Schmidt, 75, of Slinger, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000 at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee.
She was born to Milton and Rose Ann (nee Scheberl) Haacker on March 24, 1924 in LeRoy and married Jerome W. Schmidt on May 4, 1949 in Hubertus.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Roger Schmidt of Juneau; a daughter, Janice (Neal) Ruffing of Sussex; two grandchildren, David and Kevin Ruffing, both of Sussex; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There was a private family visitation and service on Monday evening at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Theresa.
Adelia E. Rettler
Adelia E. Rettler (nee Roethle) of Hartford passed away on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000 at the Hartford Memorial Hospital at the age of 104 years old.
She was born Oct. 21, 1895 in Rubicon to Nicholas and Barbara (nee Gehring) Roethle and married the late Peter N. Rettler on Nov. 8, 1921 at St. John's Catholic Church in Rubicon.
Adelia and Peter farmed northeast of Hartford until they retired and moved into Hartford.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Marcella and Therese F. Roethle, both of Rubicon. Adelia is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter in 1977; four brothers, Norbert, Norman, German and Joseph; and three sisters, Celia Grinwald, Sister Lizana and Armella Ziegelbauer.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Kilian's Catholic Church with Father Franklyn Becker officiating. Visitation was at the church only on Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m.
Interment at St. Kilian Cemetery.
Elsmer B. Quandt
Elsmer B. Quandt of Theresa passed away Wednesday Feb. 9, 2000 at his home at the age of 76 years.
He was born April 16, 1923 in the township of Herman to parents Walter and Lydia (nee Hackbarth) Quandt. He is preceded in death his wife Eleanor in 1986.
Elsmer farmed in the Woodland area for many years before working at the Woodland Foundry. Later he was employed by the Harnischfeger Corp. and then by the Slinger Foundry until his retirement.
Elsmer was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church and he enjoyed going on the many WTKM Traveling Tours with his friends. He resided in Theresa the last 14 years and will be missed at the Citgo Service Station, where he would go for his morning cappuccino and visit with neighbors.
He is survived by his loving son David (Christine) Quandt of Lomira. He is the loving grandfather of Sarah, Elizabeth, Anna and Rachel. He is also survived by his brothers Edgar (Shirley) of Mayville and Robert of Milwaukee. He is survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Sunday Feb. 13 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Berndt Funeral Home, 226 S. Main St., Hartford. Funeral service followed at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. JonTesch officiated at the service. lnterment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
The Berndt Funeral Home is serving family.
Nancy Lee Micklas
Nancy Lee Micklas of Mayville died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000 at Linden Grove in Menomonee Falls at age 49.
She was born Feb. 1, 1951 in Hustisford to parents Alois and Verone (nee Liebenow) Micklas.
Nancy Micklas attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and was a 1969 graduate of Mayville High School. She then attended Fond du Lac Technical College. She was employed at Mayville Metal for 28 years. Nancy enjoyed the outdoors and spectating at her nieces' and nephews' sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Verona, and special friend, Ron.
Survivors include her father, Alois of Mayville; brother Steve (Sue) of Mayville; sister Mary (Dean) Kirley of Hartford; nephews Ross and Adam Kirley and Steve Jr. and Chris Micklas; nieces Leah and Lindsay Micklas; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 14, 2000 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mayville with Rev. Charles Wester. Cremation will take place. Visitation was Monday, Feb. 14 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the church.
Elmer J. Lawton Jr.
Elmer J. Lawton Jr., of the town of Polk, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of West Bend. He was 82 years old.
He was born Elmer J. and Margaret (nee Smith) Lawton, Sr. on April 24, 1918 in Brookfield and was raised in Marcy. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Dorothy J. Bailey on June 2, 1945 at St. John's Cathedral in Milwaukee. After marriage, the couple moved to the Jackson area in 1953. He was a welder for Milwaukee Railroad for more than 55 years, retiring in 1985. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children, Wayne Lawton of Jackson, Margaret (John) Tennies of Slinger, and Linda Lawton of Painesdale, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Julie (Tim) Erickson of Campbellsport, John Jr. (Fiancee Angela Geidel) Tennies of Campbellsport, Mary (Jeff) Kutsche of West Bend, Jeffrey Tennies of Kewaskum, Bradley Miller of Painesdale, Mich., Kelly Schraufnagel of Knowles, Tyler Hiefala of Painesdale, Mich; four great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Connor Erickson, Samantha Kutsche, and Austin Tennies; three sisters, Mary Kroogman of Menomonee Falls, Evelyn (Roy) Schaefer of Menomonee Falls and Francis (LeRoy) Schumacher of Pittsville; one brother, Joseph (Viola) Lawton of North Lake; one sister-in-law, Marie Lawton of Pittsville. He survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Sylveseter "Bud" and one grandson, Joey Tennies.
Visitation was held at the Phillip Funeral Home in Slinger on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. until the time of casket prayers. Closing of the casket prayers was at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Slinger at 7:30 p.m. with Father Robert J. Bales officiating. Cremation took place at Parkveiw Cremations of Fond du Lac.
Hilda E. Krubsack
Hilda E. Krubsack (nee Jaeke) of Watertown, formerly of Ashippun and Oconomowoc, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000 at Watertown Memorial Hospital. She was 94 years old.
She was born June 17, 1905 to Hermann and Wilhelomine (nee Kloth) Jaeke in Ashippun. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ashippun and St. John's Ladies Aid for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Saniter of Watertown and Mary Ann (Donald) Schmitt of Oconomowoc; grandchildren, Barbara (Ronald) Johnson, Debbie (Peter) Kreuziger and Brian (Chrisy) Schmitt; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Henry Suelflow, second husband Fred Krubsack and granddaughter Lisa Schmitt.
Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. until time of service at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ashippun. Funeral services followed at the church at 1 p.m. with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Interment at St. John's Cemetery.
Memorials are appreciated to St. John's Lutheran Church.
Harold M. Kehoe
Harold M. Kehoe of Katzenbach (town of Polk), died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of West Bend. He was 85 years old.
He was born to John and Annie (nee Bolte) Kehoe on Dec. 30, 1914 in Eage River where he was raised. He served as a medic with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked many dedicated years in various trades. He was a member of the Fohl-Martin post 483 of Allenton, International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers, International Woodworkers of America, M.&H. Zinc Workers Union Local #80 of La Salle, Ill. and The Electrical Worker's Benefit Association.
He is survived by two sons, John P. (Leslie) of Thomaston, Mass. and Kenneth E. of Sturgeon Bay; three sisters, Betty Castano of California, Rose Guerin of Arkansas and Anne Lucey of Janesville; three sisters-in-law, Anne Kehoe of Illinois, Josephine Kehoe of Missouri and Betty "Sis" Kehoe of Illinois, special friends in Katzenbach, Steve and Judy Henrich and Tom and Carol Ferguson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Art, Lawrence, Martin, Jim and Edgar, and one sister-in-law.
A memorial service with the Fohl-Martin Post #483 of Allenton was held Monday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend. Cremation will take place at Parkview Creamtions of Fond du Lac.
