Norman G. Leege, 95
Norman G. Leege of West Bend, formerly of Clearwater, Fla., and Oconomowoc, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center at the age of 95.
He was born on March 19, 1904 to the late Gustav and Marie (Wessel) Leege in Maplewood, Wis.
He married Ella L. Benesh on May 7, 1932 in Milwaukee.
Raised in Forestville, Wis., he attended Algoma High School. After his marriage, the couple lived in Wauwatosa and later Oconomo-woc, retiring to Clearwater. He was the production manager for Black Hawk Manufacturing of Milwaukee and later the owner/operator of Cooney Liquor Mart of Oconomowoc for more than 10 years, retiring in the mid-1960s.
He was a past member of the Oconomowoc Lions Club.
He is survived by five children, James (Mary) Leege of West Bend; Elizabeth (Walt) Roeser of Lakeland, Fla., Thomas (Carolyn) Leege of Couer D’Alene, Idaho, John (Elsa) Leege of Las Cruces, N.M, and William (Sherilyn) Leege of Oconto; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Aug. 27, 1990; one daughter, Kathleen; and one brother, Raymond.
Cremation will take place at Cremations of Fond du Lac. A memorial service will be held in early spring in West Bend.
The family thanks the special staff at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center for its kind care and companionship.
The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.

June I. Borlen, 75
June I. Borlen (nee Meyer) of Hartford passed away on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at St. Luke’s Hospital at the age of 75.
She was born June 16, 1924 in Richfield to Esther Meyer. She married Jerome Borlen on July 3, 1948 at St. Kilian’s Church in Hartford.
June was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Kilian’s Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts, bingo and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Jerome of Hartford; three sons, James, Steve (Bonnie) and Thomas Borlen, all of Hartford; two daughters, Pat of Hartford and Cindy (fiance Frank) Borlen of Oak Creek; five grandchildren, Will and Matthew Schallock, Eric, Dustin and Aleaha Borlen; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther; daughter, Diana Borlen-Schallock on May 10, 1997; aunt, Lorraine Kurtz; and a great uncle, Ben Dickel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Petrie officiating. Visitation will be held at the Shimon Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Interment will be at St. Kilian’s Cemetery.
Memorials to the St. Kilian’s Building Fund are appreciated.
The Shimon Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Hada J. Cardarelle, 87
Hada J. Cardarelle, nee Wren, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, at the age of 87.
She was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Neillsville, to the late Thomas E. and Amy J. (nee King) Wren, and married Louis W. Cardarelle on Dec. 3, 1930, in Neillsville.
Her husband passed away May 9, 1979.
Hada was employed as a telephone operator with the former Wisconsin Bell for 27 years, retiring in 1975, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Survivors include five children, Ardell (Eunice) of Melbourne, Fla., Donald (Jeannette) of West Bend, Melvin (Lucille) of Sheboygan Falls, Janel (Ollie) Wiesner of Brownsville and Dennis (Janette) of West Bend; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Shirley) Wren of West Bend; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a granddaughter, a brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. George Mumm will officiate, and burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 6:45 p.m.

Ruth F. Duenkel, 80
Ruth F. Duenkel, nee Balthazor, of West Bend, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lomira, at the age of 80.
She was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Lomira, to the late William and Eva (nee Welling) Balthazor, and married Earl Duenkel on Nov. 8, 1941, at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish.
He passed away Jan. 23, 1983.
Ruth was a member of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish and St. Mary's Christian Mothers.
Survivors include three children, Ruth Ann (Tom) Washington of Palatine, Ill., William (Linda) of Ripon and Duane (Marion) of West Bend; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Kaiser of Fond du Lac and Caroline (Oswald) Reimer of Lomira; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a son, Frederick; a sister, Thelma Masilko; and a brother, Raymond.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. Patrick Wendt will officiate, and burial will be in the new St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lomira, are appreciated by the family.

Gerald "Jerry" Decker
A memorial Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington for Gerald "Jerry" Decker, 73, who died on Feb. 9, 2000. Rev. James Ernster will officiate at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Poole Funeral Home, Port Washington. The family will receive friends at Smith Bros. Restaurant in Port Washington after the Mass.
Mr. Decker was born July 20, 1926, son of Louis and Amanda (Kershaw) Decker. He was a foreman and superintendent for 20 years with E.H. Moldenhauer & Sons Construction Co. in Cedarburg.
Survivors include: wife Rita Decker; sons Duane Decker of Glenbeulah, Dan Decker of Port Washington and Jim (Pam) Decker of Cedarburg; daughters Cheri (Mike) Wiersema of Houston, Tex., Jane (R.J.) Harrison of Phoenix, Ariz. and Linda (Bob) Jeffers of Hartland.
Further survived by eight grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by brother Gene Decker.
Memorials to St. Mary’s Endowment Fund or Ozaukee Humane Society are appreciated.

Henry J. Faess
A memorial service is being planned in Canada for Henry J. Faess, 82, who died on Feb. 11, 2000. The Jensen Jinsky Funeral Home in Plover assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Faess was born May 20, 1917 in Milwaukee, son of Carl and Anna (nee Rumpf) Faess. He married Marcella Lindberg on Oct. 23, 1943 and worked as a Canadian tourist camp operator from 1953 until 1984. He also served in the United States Army during WWII.
Survivors include: daughters Nancy (Richard) Czarnecki of Port Washington, Sally (James) Uselding of Cedarburg, Bonnie (Robert) Rutta of Plover, Jean (Gary) Cutts of Dryden, Ontario, Marilyn (Chuck) Bongard of Prairie Du Sac, Carol (Phil) Nelson and Sue (John) Lamb, both of Madison; son Thomas Faess of Yellowknife, Northwest Territory.
Further survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Stan Obermiller
Mequon resident Stan Obermiller died Feb. 6, 2000 at home. He was born in Faith, Minn. to Frank and Josephine Obermiller on Dec. 1, 1914.
Mr. Obermiller graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1931, receiving the American Legion Award. He attended North Dakota State University and Marquette University pursuing the field of journalism. World War II intervened and he served as a court reporter for the 5th Army in the South Pacific.
In 1946 he married the former Elaine Bursch.
Mr. Obermiller had a pilot’s license. He was also involved in various sports including; skiing, whitewater rafting, hot-air ballooning, and waterskiing. He also motorcycled in Norway/Sweden, Alaska, the British Isles, New Zealand, Cyprus and the High Alps while in his 70s.
Mr. Obermiller was the founder and owner of Palette Shop Inc. in Milwaukee. Memberships include: Milwaukee Area Teachers of Art; Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors; Men’s Sketch Club; Cream City Calligraphers Guild; Wisconsin Regional Artists Association; Knights of Columbus (where he was past Grand Knight); National Art Materials Trade Association (where he was past president and member of its Hall of Fame).
His wife , Elaine, died in 1999. He is survived by a son, Michael of Milwaukee, daughter Karen of Mequon, sister Sr. Helen Margaret OSB of Mount St. Benedict in Crookston, Minn., half-brother Ben Schirmers of Sauk Centre, Minn., and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and 24 half brothers and sisters.
After a Christian Mass of Burial at St. James Catholic Church in Mequon, officiated by Father Gregory Spitz and Father Gerald Hauser, Mr. Obermiller was laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery, Mequon.

Donna Mae Stecker, 69
A memorial service was held on Saturday at Divine Word Catholic Church for Donna Mae Stecker, 69, who died on Feb. 16, 2000. Fr. Mike Barrett officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg.
Mrs. Stecker was born Aug. 4, 1930, daughter of Mathias and Mary (nee Wallender) Wimmer. She married Eugene Stecker on Dec. 8, 1951 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg.
Mrs. Stecker was a longtime active member of St. Francis and was active in Cedarburg area community activities. She was also a real estate agent for 25 years.
Survivors include: husband Eugene Stecker of Cedarburg; daughters Faith Stecker of Saukville, Katherine (Peter) Engel of Wauwatosa and Meg Stecker of Cedarburg; son Mark (Susan) Stecker of Whitefish Bay; brothers George (Ave) Hickmann of St. Petersburg, Fla., James (June) Hickmann of Security, Colo. and William (Karen) Hickmann of Delafield; sisters Janice (Harry) Stauske of West Bend and Sr. Rosemary Hickmann of Orlando, Fla.
Further survived by grandchildren Kaitlyn, Courtney, James, Elizabeth and Emma-Kate, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated.

William H. “Bill” Lamp, 81
Funeral services will be held Thursday evening at Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton, for Grafton resident William H. “Bill” Lamp, 81, who died Feb. 17, 2000 at St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m., with Rev. Larry Prahl to preside over the 8 p.m. service.
A private interment will be held at Southeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
Mr. Lamp was born in Milwaukee on May 1, 1918, son of William H. Lamp Sr. and Annie (nee Siewert) Lamp. A 1936 graduate of Grafton High School, he married Elsie Fritsch in St. Louis, Mo. on June 21, 1942.
Mr. Lamp served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945, and was a member of Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355 in Grafton, CBIVA Milwaukee Basha and VFW Post 10171 of Cedarburg-Grafton.
Mr. Lamp worked as a laborer at Pabst Brewing Co. for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Elsie Lamp of Grafton; daughters Patricia Lamp of Wauwatosa, Barbara (Dennis) Rochwite of West Bend, Marie (Arthur) Soucek of Hales Corners and Lori Hembrook of Milwaukee; sons Richard (Lynn) Lamp of Amarillo, Texas and David Lamp of Grafton; sisters Mabel Piaro of Waukesha and Hazel Kunz of Milwaukee; grandchildren Tracy, Reggie, Sandy, Samantha, Elizabeth and Everett; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the VFW National Memorial would be appreciated.
