William J. Heitz
A funeral service was held Tuesday at St. Eugene Catholic Church in Fox Point for William J. Heitz, 69, who died on Feb. 17, 2000. Private entombment was held at Resurrection Cemetery. Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, Mequon, assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Heitz was born April 27,1930 in Chicago, Ill., son of William and Evelyn (nee Whittingham) Heitz.
He was the president and co-founder of Exacto Spring Corp. in Grafton.
Survivors include: wife Sandra Heitz of Bayside; daughter Stephanie (Peter) Fleming of Mequon; son Greg (Kimberly) Heitz of Mequon; grandchildren Leslie and Julia Fleming and Ashley Heitz, both of Mequon; sister Marlene (Carl) Street of Rockton, Ill.
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials to the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center for Colon Cancer Research are appreciated.
Dolores Lillian Ploof
Funeral services will be held Friday at Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton, for Dolores Lillian Ploof, 73, of Port Washington, who died Feb. 22, 2000 at St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m., with Rev. Pete Peterson to preside at a memorial service planned for 7 p.m.
Mrs. Ploof was born in Milwaukee on Jan. 10, 1927, daughter of John R. and Elizabeth (nee Wagner) Umbs.
She married George D. Ploof, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons George (Sheila) Ploof and Jack (Lori) Ploof, both of Random Lake; daughter Patricia Ann (Richard) Jansen of Adams; brothers Robert (Laverne) Umbs of Colgate and Thomas Umbs of Montana; sister Margaret Scholfield of St. Paul, Minn.; sister-in-law Okju Umbs of Pittsville; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Umbs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Rudy O. Hilkert
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Grafton for Rudy O. Hilkert of Cedarburg, who died on Feb. 25 at the age of 69. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. at the church. Rev. Franz Rigert will officiate at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg.
Mr. Hilkert was born Nov. 25, 1931 in Stuttgart, Germany, son of Otto and Paula (nee Dalaker) Hilkert. He married Elaine Hoefert on Jan. 24, 1975 in Kohlsville. He was the owner of AOK Vac shop that served the Cedarburg and Grafton area. He was active at Pilgrim United Church of Christ. From July 13, 1957 to May 23, 1963 he served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: wife Elaine Hilkert of Cedarburg; daughter Michelle (fiance Jeff Thompson) Farmington Hills, Mich.; sons Paul Hilkert of Cedarburg, Eric (Tia) Hilkert of Menomonee Falls, Scott (Adele) Hilkert of Brookfield; sister Liesel Schneider of Völkingen, Germany; grandchildren Eric J. and Calman Hilkert.
Further survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pilgrim U.C.C. are appreciated.
Ronald "Tony" Nielsen
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. this evening at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington for Ronald "Tony" Nielsen of Port Washington who died on Feb. 26, at the age of 45. Father Jay Lambert of St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Mequon will officiate at the ceremony. Following cremation, his remains will be buried at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. Visitation will be at the Eernisse Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. today.
He was born Nov. 30, 1955 in Neenah, son of Ronald and Patricia (nee Sanderfoot) Nielsen. On March 24, 1979 he married Debra Edminster in Grafton.
He worked at his family’s business DIMAT Inc. in Cedarburg as a ceramic engineer.
Survivors include: wife Debra; children Sarah, Ronald Jr. and Robert; parents Ronald and Patricia Nielsen of Cedarburg; brothers James (Laurie) of Port Washington, Randall (Janice) of Centerville, Ohio and William (Connie) of Neenah.
He was preceded in death by his sister Laura Jacoby.

James M. Shafer
James M. Shafer, Sr., 87, of Waukesha, was born to eternal life on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001.
He was the loving husband of the late Helen (nee Effertz); father of Jane H. Gardner, James (Nancy) Shafer Jr., Matt (Sandra) Shafer; grandfather of Elizabeth (Jon) Kocik, Benjamin J. (Shelly) Shafer, Sarah J. Shafer, Natalie R. (Jason) Laufenberg, James Shafer III and Daniel J. Shafer; great-grandfather of Kaylin E. Shafer, Ariana Kocik, Jude J. Laufenberg, Nicholas Kocik, Makenna Shafer; and dear friend of Jane Will.
He is also survived by cousins and many good friends.
After being in vaudeville in his 20s, he later had a career as a manufacturer's representative for various companies, had considerable success as a real estate developer and only recently retired.
Jim was a member of the Tripoli Shrine, Fox Point Lutheran Church, the Wisconsin Club and the Friday Noon Forecasters Club.
A memorial service will be held at Fox Point Lutheran Church, corner of Calumet and Santa Monica, at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 5.

Marilyn Jean Bandurski, 68
A funeral Mass will be held Friday morning at St. James Catholic Church, 11300 N. St. James La., Mequon, for Marilyn Jean Bandurski (nee Hanrahan), 68, who died Feb. 29, 2000.
Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m., with Father Kevin Kowalske to officiate at the Mass. Committal services will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Schramka-Densow Funeral Home, Thiensville.
Mrs. Bandursky was born in Fond du Lac on June 8, 1931, daughter of Evelyn (nee Fahl) an Leo Hanrahan.
She had been active in the Mount Mary College Parent’s Association, the Schlitz Audubon Society, the Mequon-Thiensville Junior Woman’s Club and the Arion Choral Society. She was also an active parishioner at St. James Catholic Church in Mequon and a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, John Bandurski; sisters Patricia (Dr. Edward) Biel, Sharon (Dr. Ernest) Biel and Nancy (Paul) Loepfe; brothers Dennis (Margaret) Hanrahan and Bob (Marti) Hanrahan; daughter Deborah (Rev. Mark) Kastner; sons Jeffrey (Jane) Bandurski and Michael (Daisy) Bandurski; grandchildren Jeremy, Jennifer, Jonathan, Kristen and Katie; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
The family extends a special thank you to the nursing staff at Marilyn’s Hospice, the nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee, Doctors Scott Jorgensen, Daniel Ochalek and Allan Torkelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee for cancer research would be appreciated.
Magdalena E. Kalies, 98
Magdalena E. Kalies, 98, of Port Washington, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Heritage Nursing Home, Port Washington.
She was born May 7, 1901, in Port Washington, to the late William and Bertha (Miller) Lubahn, and on June 25, 1927, married Karl Kalies at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Saukville.
He passed away Jan. 29, 1983.
She worked as a housekeeper for the Moser family for many years.
Survivors include her brother, William of West Bend; sisters-in-law, Clara Bartelt of West Bend, Dorothy Sill of Milwaukee, Martha Leininger of California; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many, many friends.
Preceding her in death were four sisters, Ella Miersch, Augusta Parnitzke, Marie Sudbrink and Adela Katchever, and four brothers, Arnold, Henry, Albert and Clarence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at Friedens Evangelical Church, Port Washington. Pastor Mark Voll will officiate, and burial will be in Union Cemetery, Port Washington.
Visitation at the church only will be Saturday from noon until the time or services.
The family suggests memorials to Friedens Church or the Arthritis Foundation.
The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is assisting the family.
William F. Lettow, 81
William F. Lettow, 81, of Campbellsport, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.
He was brn Oct. 16, 1915, in Milwaukee, to the late Edward and Helen (Kiesling) Lettow, and on July 7, 1943, married Marie Fellenz at St. Michael's Church, St. Michael.
He worked at Hein-Warner in Waukesha and at Kerney-Trecker in Milwaukee before farming in the Kewaskum area. Later he was employed in construction and then worked for the West Bend School District.
William was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Campbellsport, the West Bend Knights of Columbus and the Modern Woodmen of America. He also greatly enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Frederick (Virginia) and John (Peggy), both of Kewaskum, Janet (Ron) Lieders of Fond du Lac, Michael (Debra) of Kewaskum and Leo (Monica) of Random Lake; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were two sisters and a brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Cambpellsport. Rev. Francis Mallaoy will officiate, and entombment will be Monday in Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.
Visitation at the church will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew's Church.
