Roman J. Staehler, 88
Roman J. Staehler 88,of Kewaskum, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 17, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend.
He was born Oct. 16, 1911, in the town of Kewaskum, to the late John and Elizabeth (Rodenkirch) Staehler, and on Nov. 27, 1943, married Regina Koenen at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kewaskum.
Mr. Staehler was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum, and farmed all his life in the town of Kewaskum.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Allen, Tom (Pat) and John (Karen), all of Kewaskum; a sister, Marie Matenaer of West Bend; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were five brothers, Alois, John, Andrew, William and Sylvester, and two sisters, Rose Mueller and Alma VanBeek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kewaskum. Father Mark Jones will officiate, and burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the parish cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to the Holy Trinity Parish Education Center are appreciated.
The Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, is serving the family.

Rev. Edward A. Vogel, 73
Rev. Edward A. Vogel, 73, of Racine, was welcomed home by the Lord on Thursday, March 23, 2000.
He was born in Milwaukee on May 22, 1926, to the late Emil and Margaret (nee Hahn) Vogel, and attended St. Francis Minor Seminary from 1943-'45 and St. Francis Major Seminary from 1945 until graduating in 1950.
Father Vogel was ordained to the priesthood in Milwaukee on May 27, 1950, at St. John's Cathedral by Most Rev. Moses E Kiley, Archbishop of Milwaukee.
His appointments included: June 16, 1950 at St. Mary Czetochowa Parish in Milwaukee as curate; July 16, 1955 as Notary in Tribunal; Dec. 13, 1955 at St. Mary Parish of Menomonee Falls as curate; July 1, 1964 at St. Theresa Parish of Milwaukee as associate pastor; July 1, 1965 at St. Mary Parish in Mayville as associate pastor; Aug. 13, 1968 at St. Peter Claver Parish of Sheboygan as associate pastor; and Sept. 23, 1969 at Holy Name Catholic Church of Racine as pastor.
While at Holy Name, he served as a Pro-Synodal judge for the Milwaukee Archdiocese.
On June 30, 1998, Father Vogel retired as pastor of Holy Name Church, and on July 1, 1998, became the chaplain of St. Monica's Senior Citizen Home of Racine.
Father Vogel will long be remembered as the priest who was always seen with his mother on his arm as they traveled about Racine. Through the years, they both endeared themselves to people of all faiths and beliefs.
Father taught us to love God by his caring example and dedicated ministry. In so doing, he became a part of each family he served. We will all miss this very special priest and friend as we rejoice in his birth to eternal life. Truly there is much joy in heaven.
Surviving are his dear nieces and nephews, Joanne (Joseph) Cox of Watertown, Rosie (Randy) Baumann of Slinger, John (Vickie) Vogel of Arlington, Texas and Joseph (Jo Amy) Vogel of Mayville; great-nieces and nephews, Anne and Brian Krische, Brian and Ellen Cox, Ben and Beth Baumann, Nicole and Michael Arndt, Spencer and Seaver Vogel. Further surviving are his longtime friend and pastoral assistant, Timothy Sadowski, and many loving cousins and caring friend too numerous to mention by name.
Preceding him in death were a brother and sister-in-law, Carol and Evelyn Vogel; a niece, Sharon Vogel; and a nephew, Jerome Vogel.
The concelebrated Masses will be held on Monday, March 27 at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church-15th Street (formerly Holy Name Parish), 1503 Grand Ave.
The morning Memorial Mass was held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jack Kern and Rev. Russell Roetzer officiating. The evening Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. with Bishop Richard J. Sklba officiating.
Visitation at St. Richard Parish-15th Street, will be Monday after the 11 a.m. Mass until 7 p.m. and at the Resurrection Church in Nenno on Tuesday from 11 to 11 a.m.
Interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to St. Richard of Chichester Parish.
The Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, Racine is in charge of arrangements.

Larry W. Wigg, 57
Larry W. Wigg, 57, of Sheboygan died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Friday, March 24, 2000.
He was born March 8, 1943, in Brawley, Calif., to H. Trueman Sr. and Ruth Roberta (Label) Wigg, and graduated from schools in Brawley.
He received an associate degree from Imperial Valley College, and later earned a bachelor's degree in business management systems from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
On June 15, 1968, he married Rita Lesar in Milwaukee.
Larry was a quality manager with Premier Aluminum in Allenton and Racine.
He was currently serving in the Army Reserve with the 1/339th Co. A 84th Division and held the rank of MSG. He had been with the Green Beret Special Forces and served during the Vietnam Era and was called to duty during Desert Storm.
Larry was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. Sheboygan and the ASQ.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Morgan (Tina), Charlie and Lawrence, all of Sheboygan; a daughter, Laura Marie Wigg of Sheboygan; granddaughters, Candace and Erica; his father, H. Trueman Wigg Sr. of Julian Calif.; a brother, H. Trueman Wigg Jr. of Brawley, Calif.; and a sister, Carolyn Wigg of Julian Calif..
Preceding him in death was a sister, Sally Korson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 29, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, with Rev. James Voitek, pastor, as celebrant. Following cremation, burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation at the Ramm-Ziegler-Novak-Rettke Funeral Home, Northside Chapel, 726 Michigan Ave., Sheboygan, will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church, North Sixth and New York Avenue on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Dona Becker, 67
Dona Becker, 67, of West Bend, died Friday, March 24, 2000 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital in West Bend.
Visitation will be at Schmidt Funeral Home West Bend on Tuesday, March 28, 2000, from 1 to 5:45 p.m. Closing prayers will be held at 6 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 6:30 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church.

Anita M. Kratzke, 49
Anita M. Kratzke, nee Wild, of Reston, Va., died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at her residence, at the age of 49.
She was born July 21, 1950, in Hartford, to Louis X. and Rosie M. (nee Ritger) Wild, and was married to Robert T. Kratzke for 30 years.
Anita was a volunteer who worked extensively with school children in the Reston area.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Robert W. (Christine) of Hanover, Md., Christopher J and Michael T., both of Reston; her mother, Rosie Wild of Hartford; five sisters and two brothers, Joseph Wild, Irene (Jerry) Seybold, Dolores Wild, Gladys (the late Fred) Sachse, Arlene (Michael) Barron, Mary (DeWayne) Butcher and Dennis (Kathy) Wild; her mother-in-law, Donna Kratzke of Slinger;, and on Robert's side, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Karen (Doug) Weiss, David (Linda) Kratzke, William (Christine) Kratzke and Kevin Kratzke; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her father and a brother, Jerome.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 27, at 3 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence. Father Robert J. Bales will officiate, and interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Slinger.
Visitation at the church only will be Monday from noon until the time of Mass.
Memorials are appreciated.

Norma Hagner, 86
Norma Hagner, 86, of Antigo, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Homme Home for the Aging in Shawano.
She was born May 10, 1913, in West Bend, to the late Ralph and Alma (Mierke) Hagner.
Norma moved to the Rhinelander-Minocqua area in 1946, moved to Summit Lake in 1960 where she was employed as a bartender and waitress at Wayne's Supper Club, and in 1962 moved to Antigo.
She was a lifetime member of the "600" Club, Women's International Bowling Congress, and the Antigo Pool League.
Survivors include friends,Marge McCann of Antigo and Lila Ahlers of Mosinee, and nephews and nieces.
Preceding her in death was a sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, at noon at the Bradley Funeral Home, Antigo. Rev. Kate Kraft will officiate, and burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Summit Lake.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon.

John Reksten, 58
John Reksten, 58, of Quincey, Mass., formerly of West Bend, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, in Quincey.
He was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minn., to the late Theodore and Gladys (nee Lee) Rexsten, and graduated from West Bend High School in 1960.
John served with the U.S. Navy during the 1970s and was stationed in Italy.
He was a construction consultant in various parts of the country.
Survivors include his wife, Sally; two brothers, Errol (Gill) of Ooltewah, Tenn. and Robert (Dawn) of Adell; a sister, Sylvia (Carl) Rolfs of Kasson, Minn.; eight nieces and nephews; and other family and friends, and their two cats, Buffy and PeeWee.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 25, at the Hamel Wickens and Troupe Funeral Home, Quincey, Mass., followed by burial.
