Eleanora R. Horlamus, 85
Eleanora R. Horlamus, nee Reetz, of West Bend, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, at the age of 85.
She was born May 30, 1914, in the town of Jackson, to the late Emil and Augusta (nee Seidensticker) Reetz, and married John P. Horlamus on Oct. 13, 1946, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, town of Jackson. He passed away Feb. 19, 1973.
Eleanora worked in the Washington County Register of Deeds office for a number of years in the 1940s.
In 1956 she and her husband founded Horlamus Industries, which they operated together for many years.
After her husband's death, she continued to operate the business with her sons.
She also owned and managed a registered Holstein dairy herd that produced foundation breeding stock for many other herds in the county.
Eleanora was a 4-H leader for the Every Ready 4-H Club in the town of West Bend for many years. She was an active member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church of West Bend, belonging to the Senior Choir and the Ladies Guild. She was also an avid antiquer and collector of Hummels.
Survivors include two sons, J. Patrick (Dianne) and Richard (Kathleen), both of West Bend; nine grandchildren, Jaclyn Horlamus, Collin Horlamus, Laurie (Richard) Bremmer, John Horlamus, Jennifer Carron, Jamie Carron, Courtney (Jeff) Neumann, Michael Carron and Michelle Carron; six great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Rosenthal of Cedarburg, Doris Reetz of the town of Jackson, Carol Horlamus of Pound and Jean (Walter) Huchthausen of Stewart, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Warren (Westie) Horlamus of Cedarburg; her dear friend and companion, Ruth Kannenberg of West Bend; her cat, Lottie; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Norbert Reetz and Paul Reetz, and a brother-in-law, Robert Horlamus.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend. Rev. George Mumm will officiate, and burial will follow in Union Cemetery, West Bend.
Visitation at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to St. John's Scholarship Fund or St. John's Music Fund are appreciated.

Marlin W. Harter, 83
Marlin W. Harter, 83, of the town of Scott, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2000,, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of West Bend.
He was born Sept. 4, 1916, in Sheboygan, to the late Charles and Ida (Hintz) Harter, and on Feb. 7, 1942, married Evangeline Minz at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.
Marlin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Scott, and was a member of the Beechwood Fire Department for many years.
He was employed by Willkomm and Schneider of West Bend and Geidel Brothers of Fillmore as a carpenter.
Marlin enjoyed hunting, fishing and dart ball.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Kenneth (Sandy) of Campbellsport, Donald of West Bend, and Donna (Roman) Ernst and Gerald (Joan) both of Campbellsport; a brother, Reuben (Alice) of Beechwood; a sister, LaVern Kleinke of West Bend; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were a grandson, Jeffery Harter, and a brother, Alton Harter.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 9, at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Scott. Rev. William Robinson will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church only on Sunday from noon until the time o f services.
Memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church Organ Fund are appreciated.

Gertrude E. Thorn, 77
Gertrude E. Thorn, nee Schreier, 77, of Kewaskum, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at the Hartford Care Center, Hartford.
She was born April 21, 1922, in the town of Addison, to the late Arthur and Viola (nee Renk) Schreier, and married Peter G. Thorn on June 7, 1941, at Sacred Heart Church, Allenton.
Gertrude was a life-long resident of the West Bend area and enjoyed polka music and dancing.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Rosemary (Ronald) Fink of West Bend, Robert (Bernadette) of Kewaskum and Kenneth (Shirley) of Campbellsport; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Fink, Debra (Scott) Roffers, Tamara (Brian) Cerniglia, Bonnie (Scott) Rindt, Brian, Timmy, Tommy and Tony Thorn; five great-grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Roffers and Eric, Kimberly and Cody Cerniglia; a sister-in-law, Margaret Jung of Kewaskum; a brother-in-law, Walter (Sheila) Thorn of Tofton, Pa.; special friends, Gary and Amy Bohn of Kewaskum; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Shirley in 1998; a granddaughter, Pamela Lynn Fink in 1968; and her stepfather, Elmer Kleuver.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church, West Bend, with Fr. Patrick Wendt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until a prayer vigil at 8 p.m.

Lloyd J. Smith, 72
Lloyd J. Smith of West Bend died Friday, April 7, 2000 in West Bend at the age of 72.
He was born May 19, 1927 in Kewaskum to the late Roman and Catherine (nee Eischele) Smith and married Norma A. Wendtlandt on June 25, 1949 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Lloyd worked at the West Bend Company for 49 years.
Survivors include his wife Norma; three children, Karen (Michael) Spelleter of Phoenix, Ariz., Gary of Eden, and Susan Smith of West Bend; six grandchildren, Mike Smith, Elizabeth and Daniel Izzo, and Alex, Michelle and Matthew Spelleter. He is further survived by a brother, Armond (Betty) Smith, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be Monday, April 10, 2000 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend. Private funeral services will be held. Burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park.

Kenneth G. Koeferl, 50
Kenneth G. Koeferl of Mukwonago, formerly of West Bend, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2000 at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa. He was 50 years old.
Kenneth was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 11, 1949 to Isidore and Dorothy (nee Henriksen) Koeferl. On Nov. 7, 1970, he married Eileen Gindt at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Goldendale, Wis.
Kenneth was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Mukwonago, a manager at Dorn’s Delivery & Transfer Inc. in Milwaukee and was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include his wife Eileen; his daughter Kelly Ann of Whitewater; his mother Dorothy Koeferl of Menomonee Falls; a brother Gary (Sue) Koeferl of Kewaskum; two sisters, Nancy Koeferl of Menomonee Falls and Cheryl (Thomas) Kane of West Bend; his mother-in-law Bernadette Gindt of Slinger; a sister-in-law Diane (Thomas) Sheehan of Hartford; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Colleen) Gindt of Slinger and Allen (Gloria) Gindt of Fisher, Ind.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Isidore and his father-in-law Alfred Gindt.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 11, from 4 p.m. until the time of a Funeral Mass at 7 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 830 Highway NN East, Mukwonago. Officiating will be Fr. Robert Drutowski, Fr. Robert Gloudeman and Deacon Thomas Wuchterl.
Schmidt & Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral Home, 262-363-7126, Mukwonago, is serving the family.

Sylvester A. Hesprich, 82
Sylvester A. Hesprich, 82, of Hartford, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2000, at Hartford Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 21, 1917, in Rubicon, to the late Julius and Agnes (nee Glynn) Hesprich, and married Magdalyn Schmitt on Sept. 7, 1940, at St. Mary's Church in Breckenridge, Minn. She passed away in March, 1955.
He then married Dolores Bauer on July 29, 1961, at St. Peter's Church, Beaver Dam. She preceded him in death in March, 1984.
Sylvester was a machinist at Wisconsin Motors in Milwaukee, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of St. Kilian's Catholic Church, Hartford.
Survivors include three sons, Glen (Geraldine) of Huntington Beach, Calif., Gary (Marlene) of Hartford and Mark (Darlene) of Waukesha; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Butz of Madison and Jane (Tony) Schmitt of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Jim Hetzel of Madison; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Vincent, and a sister, Betty Hetzel.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Kilian's Church, Hartford, with Fr. Michael Petrie officiating.
Inurnment will be in St. Kilian's Cemetery, followed by fellowship at the church.
Memorials to the American Cancer Association are appreciated.
The Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family.

Arnold G. Trobaugh
A funeral service was held on Friday at Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton, for Arnold G. Trobaugh, 76, who died on April 3, 2000. The service was conducted by the American Legion. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton. Mueller Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Trobaugh was born July 28, 1923 in St. Paul, Minn., to Charles and Julia (nee Geske) Trobaugh. He married Nessy Pfaff on Oct. 17, 1964 in Illinois.
He served in the Army and Air Force during WWII and in Korea. Mr. Trobaugh worked as an engineer for Johnson Controls and was a member of the Grafton American Legion Post.
Survivors include: wife Nessy Trobaugh, Grafton; daughter Gale (Roger) Collins, Australia; grandchildren Walker, Jennifer and Jill.
Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Kenneth W. Reid
Cedarburg resident Kenneth W. Reid died March 25, 2000 at the age of 69.
Services were held at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Cedarburg, with interment at Calvary Cemetery, Springfield, Ill.
He spent his boyhood in Springfield, attending St. Joseph Grade School and Cathedral Boys’ High School, as well as Springfield Junior College, St. Louis University and Northwestern University. In his professional career, he was a computer manager for IBM. More recently, Mr. Reid was a golf pro manager at Mee-Kwon Park Golf Course in Mequon.
A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Reid was a member of the American Legion Post in Cedarburg. He also served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and donated countless hours to community service.
He was the beloved husband of Marianne (nee Trello) Reid; dear father of Kenneth Jr., Karen (Duane) Block, Kathi (Tom) Czarnecki, Kevin (Elena), Kellee (Stephan) Wallock and Keith (Cathy); loving grandfather of Josh, Justin, Shannyn, Nick, Kyle, Tracey, Sean, Nicole, Hannah, Stephanie, Amber, Alex, Jacob and Elli; special grandfather of Megan Martinez; brother of Marilyn (Leo) Hochalter; special father-in-law to James Kaminski, Diane Gibas and Kenneth Kissel; special friend to Bernard Sanner and Sung Yon Mills. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff at Mequon Care Center, singling out the attention provided by center director Jim Lehmkuhl.
