Josephine M. Pomahac, 85
Josephine M. Pomahac, nee Mesarich, of West Bend, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, at the age of 85.
She was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Milwaukee, to the late Stephen and Elizabeth Mesarich, and married Robert Pomahac on June 1, 1935, in West Bend. He passed away Sept. 29, 1985.
Josephine was currently employed at the St. Vincent de Paul store in West Bend.
Survivors include three children, Jo Ann (Jack) Isselman of Newburg, Robert (Judy) of Roscoe, Ill. and Holly (Lee) Novotny of Pewaukee; seven grandchildren, Jackie (David) Newell of California, Julie (Bill) Gladbach of Virginia, Jody (Eric) Hiller of Florida, Jonathan Isselman of Newburg, Steven Pomahac of Roscoe, Ill., Laurie (Tim) Berry of Minnesota and Heather Novotny of Pewaukee; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Regnitz of Cedarburg; a sister-in-law, Doris Pomahac of West Bend; a special friend, Earl Senkbeil of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were four brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Burial will be in Fillmore Union Cemetery at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 p.m until the time of services.

Ione G. Maertz, 77
Ione G. Maertz, nee Jensch, of Newburg, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at her residence, at the age of 77.
She was born July 3, 1922, in Milwaukee, to the late Fred and Ruth (nee Grellinger) Jensch, and married Robert J. Maertz on Jan. 11, 1944, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Milwaukee.
Following their marriage they lived in Milwaukee until settling in the Newburg area in 1971.
Her greatest enjoyment in life was her family and in the later years her grandchildren. She was passionate about animals and nature and pursued interests in gardening and antiques.
Survivors include her husband; two children, Susan (Jim) Stowers of Bangor and Sally (Gary) Wise of West Bend; 10 grandchildren, Andy (Brook) Stowers, Angela Stowers, George Stowers, Bob Stowers, Melissa Stowers, Merri Stowers, Tom (fiancee Teri Jacobs) Wise, Ruth Wise, Kate Wise and Dan (fiancee Kathleen Miller) Wise. She was the proud great-grandmother of Samantha Stowers, and is further survived by a special friend, Abby.
The family would like to thank Kitty Wolski, Paul Kennedy and Dr. Bruce Wilson for their kind support and care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, town of Trenton, with burial following in the parish cemetery. Father Robert Sampon will preside.
The family will greet relatives and friends following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the local humane society or to St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, S.D.

Earl Hennings, 85
Earl Hennings, 85, who died on March 27, 2000, was buried after a ceremony by Rev. Bertain of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Fairfield, Calif. on April 3, 2000.
Mr. Hennings was a native of Grafton and graduated from Cedarburg High School and from Marquette Univesity School of Engineering in 1937.
Survivors include: wife Ann (nee Pflittner); sons Richard Hennings of Sunnyvale, Calif. and Barry Hennings of Palo Alto, Calif.; four grandchildren; brother Marvin Hennings of Grafton; other relatives and friends.
Kenneth P. Voigt, 76
Kenneth P. Voigt, 76, of Fillmore, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.
He was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Milwaukee, to the late Clarence F. and Esther (nee Birkholz) Voigt.
Prior to becoming a resident at the Samaritan Health Center, Kenneth lived his entire life in Fillmore.
He worked his entire career in masonry construction, many of those years with his father.
Kenneth was a lifetime member of St. Martin's United Church of Christ and a member of the Fillmore Horseshoe Club.
Survivors include three brothers, Arnold of Fredonia, Clarence (Arlene) of West Bend and Ronald of Fillmore; a sister, Darlene (Daniel) Ebert of Fillmore; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Doris (Roland) Pomahac and a sister-in-law, Carol Voigt.
Private family funeral services were held Friday, April 14, at 1 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. David Jerger, pastor at St. Martin's United Church of Christ, officiated, and burial followed in Fillmore Union Cemetery, Fillmore.
Memorials to St. Martin's United Church of Christ are appreciated.
Nora A. Wickman, 95
Nora A. Wickman, nee Burg, 95, of West Bend, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the Samaritan Health Center.
She was born Sept. 29, 1904, in Menomonee Falls, to the late John and Susan (nee Lawer) Burg.
After her marriage to August Wickman on Nov. 25, 1925, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Menomonee Falls, they farmed in Hartford for 11 years before moving to West Bend in 1941.
Her husband passed away on Aug. 2, 1976.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed at The West Bend Co. for over 30 years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing, cooking and baking, card playing and raising flowers.
Nora was the oldest living member of the West Bend Co.'s 25 Year Club for the past two years, and was also a member of the Apostolate of Suffering and the Christian Women's Confraternity at Holy Angels Parish.
Survivors include three children, Dolores (Reuben) Weber of Hartford, Phyllis (Jim) Gagan of West Bend and Norbert (Rose) of West Bend; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Nick (Anna) and Edward (Frances); and two sisters, Elizabeth (Peter) Brill and Katherine (Arthur) Treptow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend. Fr. Jerry Repenshek will be the presider, and burial will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to the Holy Angels Church Building Fund are appreciated.

Edna L. Friz, 96
Edna Louise Friz, nee Freder-king, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend, at the age of 96.
She was the loving mother of Edna-Marie (Clarence) Grunwaldt of Colgate, Dorothy (Harold) Henrich of Mequon, Corinne (Donald) Bergmann of Pasadena, Calif., and daughter-in-law, Jane Friz; grandmother of 16; great-grandma of 39, and great-great-grandma of four. She is also survived by a sister, Esther Voelker of Glendale, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, N89 W16856 Appleton Ave., Menomonee Falls.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m.

Claude F. Huiras
Claude F. Huiras, age 72, of Fredonia, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2000 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
He was born on July 6, 1927 in the town of Fredonia, the son of the late Joseph and Susan (Geib) Huiras and was united in marriage to Carol Becker in Fredonia on Oct. 21, 1950.
He was employed by the Gehl Company of West Bend for 43 years, retiring June 3, 1989 and was a member of the Hexelbank Club. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family and playing many different card games.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Fredonia; two children, Steven L. (JoAnne) of Fredonia and Chris (Jim) Mueller of Random Lake; three grandchildren, Chad (Sandy) Arndt, Valerie Arndt (finace Todd Stange) and Al Huiras; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terry and a sister, LaVerne Wolf.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2000 at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Waubeka.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2000 at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum.
Veronica 'Verona' Becker, 88
Veronica E. "Verona" Becker, nee Berres, 88, of West Bend, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1911, in Barton, to the late Edward and Pauline (nee Otten) Berres, and married Melvin Becker on June 22, 1929, at Holy Angels Church, West Bend.
Melvin preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1990.
While in high school she was the artist for the WBHS yearbook.
Following high school, she worked full-time for B.C. Ziegler Co. and continued working there part-time following her marriage.
Verona was a member of the Mission Circle and the Apostolate of Suffering.
Survivors include four children, Alan (Linda) of Thiensville, James (Adrienne) of Woodstock, N.Y., Robert (Lesa) of Sterling, Neb. and Mary (Bruce) Barker of West Bend; 15 grandchildren, Samantha (Bruce) Crownover, Melissa (Mike) Wendorf, Meredith Becker, Alison Becker, Andrew Becker, Jonathan Becker, Daniel Becker, Hannah Becker, Elisabeth Becker, Jacob Becker, Calib Becker, Kathleen Miller, Christine Miller, Andy Miller and Ben Barker; a sister, Adeline Smith of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Berres of Washington, Ill.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Lawrence, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, with Fr. Gerald Brittain presiding. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to the Holy Angels School Trust Fund or the charity of the donor's choice are appreciated.
