Emmy S. Bruland, 99
Emmy S. Bruland, nee Schneckenberger, 99, of Morton Grove, Ill., died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Skokie, Ill.
She was born Oct. 31, 1900, in Poland, and married the late John A. Bruland.
She was a housewife.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanne O'Dwyer of Slinger.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 4, at noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Skokie. Rev. E. Lee Jones will officiate, and burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Skokie.
Visitation at the church will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 7878 Niles Center Road, Skokie, Ill. 60077.
The Haben Funeral Home, Skokie, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald R. 'Jerry' Hron
Gerald R. "Jerry' Hron, 60, of the West Bend and Kewaskum area, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at St. Luke's Medical Center of Milwaukee.
He was born Dec. 14, 1939, to the late Edwin and Irene (Smith) Hron, and married Shelby J. Schenk on Nov. 18, 1961, in West Bend.
He was self employed for many years, and worked at St. John's Lutheran Church of West Bend until retiring.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Craig, Scott and Lisa Hron; four grandchildren, Tonya, Jessica, Dustin and Mitchell; three sisters, Dorothy Downs, Ruth (DuWayne) Wornardt and La Verne Koerble; three brothers, Allen (Margaret), Fred and Russell (Myra); a sister-in-law, Susan Hron; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were two sisters and a brother.
He was a member of the Kettle Moraine Klassic Kar Klub and the Hudson Car Club.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend. Rev. George Mumm will officiate, and interment will follow the service in Washington County Memorial Park , West Bend.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from noon until the time of services.

Dorothy Marks
Word was received by Dorothy Marks, a former Cedarburg resident now living in Ashland, of the death of Sakda Prangpatanpon, an AFS student who attended Cedarburg High School in 1969-’70. Sakda died on Feb. 29, 2000 in Bangkok, Thailand.
While attending CHS, Sakda lived with the Leonard Marks family and returned to Thailand after graduation. He attended college there and after receiving his undergraduate degree came back to the United States and earned his doctorate at Brandeis University in Waltham, Ma.
He returned to Thailand and started his career as a professor at Burapha University in Chonburi. At the time of his death Sakda was chairman of the Educational Foundation Department and director of international programs. He continued to be very active in the Thailand AFS program which was very important to him.
Sakda’s last visit to Cedarburg was October 1993 to attend the wedding of his AFS sister, Sally, and he was hoping to make another trip to Wisconsin in the near future.
He is survived by his wife and daughter, a college freshman in Bangkok, his AFS Marks family and many friends made while attending CHS.

Adolph Fulton Marcheske
A funeral service was held yesterday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Suring for Adolph Fulton Marcheske, 96, who died on April 29, 2000.
Rev. Russell Kampfer officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg.
Burial was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Suring.
Mr. Marcheske was born April 29, 1904 in Oconto, son of Karl and Anna (nee Krause) Marcheske.
He married Elsie Hein and worked as a dairy farmer.
Mr. Marcheske also attended St. John’s in Hayes.
Survivors include: daughter Jane (LaRue) Hansen of Hartford; son Ralph (Trudy) Marcheske of Sheboygan; sisters Martha Sommer and Sophie Lorier, both of Sheboygan; brothers Clarence Marcheske of Sheboygan and Walter Marcheske of Menasha; grandchildren Steve (Jean) Hansen of Hartford, Cindy (James) Shewmaker of Atlanta, Ga., Beth Hansen and Scott Hansen, both of Hartford and Michele (Robert) Konrad of Sheboygan.
Further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Henry E. Kurth
A funeral service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cedarburg, for Henry E. Kurth, 85, who died on April 30, 2000. Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the church. Rev. Randolph Raasch will officiate at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg. Burial will be at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.
Mr. Kurth was born Jan. 3, 1915 in Cedarburg, son of Henry C. and Augusta (nee Lenat) Kurth. He married Rose Kressin on Sept. 2, 1944 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Friestadt. He worked as a dairy farmer in the Town of Cedarburg all his life and attended First Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: wife Rose Kurth of Cedarburg; sons Norbert (Cheri) Kurth of Cedarburg, Roger (Jan) Kurth of Columbus and Kenneth Kurth (friend Denise) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter Claire (Dennis) Sampolinski of Columbus; sister Adela Hill of Cedarburg; brother Milton (Wollie) Kurth of West Bend; grandchildren Scott Sampolinski of Thiensville, Sarah and Susanna Sampolinski, both of Columbus, Shawn Kurth, Chad Kurth, Michael Kurth and Austin Kurth, all of Cedarburg, Melissa Kurth, Bryan Kurth and Brandon Kurth, all of Columbus, Tania Kurth, Tasha Kurth and Andrew Kurth, all of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sisters-in-law Norma (Wilmer) Ehlke and Ellen Wolfgram, both of West Bend.
Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandson Christian, two brothers and three sisters.
Memorials to the church are appreciated.

Mary Jane Janzer
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington for Mary Jane Janzer, 74, who died on April 28, 2000. Rev. Allan Sommer officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Poole Funeral Home, Port Washington. Entombment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington.
Mrs. Janzer was born May 17, 1925 in Port Washington, daughter of Mathias and Martha (nee Klein) Hansen. She married Robert H. Janzer on June 26, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington.
She operated the former Janzer’s Lunch on Grand Avenue in Port Washington from 1957-’73 and was also a clerk for the former Hoffman’s Drug Store, and sales associate at Lueptow’s Furniture. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and Christian Women, the former Daughters of Isabella, Port Washington Senior Center and Badger Ford Model A Club.
Survivors include: daughter Sue (Jim) Montana of Saukville; sons Mike (Lisa) Janzer of Port Washington and John Janzer of Oostburg; grandchildren Christine (Mark) Warrix of West Allis, Amy Montana of Grafton, Becky (Joe) Schueller of Cincinati, Ohio, Mandy Janzer of Milwaukee and Justin Janzer of Port Washington; sisters Esther (Bill) Bley of Port Washington of Doris (Ray) Tiegs of Grafton; brothers Paul (Joan) Hansen and Jim Hansen, both of Port Washington; sisters-in-law Barbara (Joe) Hoffmann of Milwaukee, Lois (Ralph) Boos of West Allis and Dorothy (Jerry) Paczesny of Mukwonago; brother-in-law Loeschel Pierringer of Port Washington.
Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, sister Ruth Pierringer and brother Tom Hansen.
Memorials to the St. Mary’s Organ Fund are appreciated.

Mary C. Karius (nee Hernandez)
Mary C. Karius (nee Hernandez), formerly of Slinger, died on Saturday, April 29, 2000 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center where she had been a resident. She was 69 years old.
She was born on June 14, 1930, in Fond du Lac, to the late Manuel and Bernice (nee Roberts) Hernandez. Mary was employed as a cook in the Slinger School District for 13 years and also worked as the manager of Susie's Pizza in West Bend and Slinger for six years.
Survivors include four children, Susan Karius of Slinger, Daniel P. (Margaret) of Chilton, Michael A. "Pudge" (Mary T.) and Henry P. "Hank", both of Slinger; five grandchildren, Eric, Sara, Dana, Michael and Ricky; one great-granddaughter, Cassandra; two brothers, Joe (Mary) of North Fond du Lac and Frank of Fond du Lac; five sisters, Rosie Hernandez and Shirley Abler, both of Fond du Lac, Margaret Hernandez of Milwaukee, Mary Lou (Gerry) Ruck of Wild Rose and Patty (Steve) Como of Florida; and a special cousin, Pat Johnson of Slinger. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin; one brother-in-law, George Abler; and one sister-in-law, Judy Hernandez.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Slinger, with Father James Strupp as the celebrant. Burial took place on Wednesday, May 3 at 10 a.m. at the new St. Peter's Cemetery, Slinger. Visitation was held at the church on Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, served the family.

Lester J. Heinecke
Lester J. Heinecke of West Bend died on Thursday, April 27, 2000 at his residence. He was 80 years old.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1919, in Theresa, to the late Emil and Elsie (nee Zimmel) Heinecke. He married Nelda R. Koller on Sept. 20, 1944.
Lester and Nelda farmed in Kohlsville until the 1970s. He was later employed in maintenance at The West Bend Company until his retirement in 1981.
His favorite pastime was working in his gardens. He will be remembered for the abundance of fresh-picked vegetables and the gorgeous flowers he grew every year.
Survivors include Nelda, his wife of 55 years; seven children, Dianne (Tom) Hetland of Rhinelander, Ken of West Bend, Elaine (Tim) Bong of Campbellsport, Merlin (Laurie) of Iron Ridge, Allen (Jayne) of Allenton, John of West Bend and Jeannine (Marty) Mittelstadt of Campbellsport; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Helen Rate of Oklahoma, Adeline Kempken of Oconomowoc, Lucille (Ray) Roecker of Fond du Lac, Bernice (Donald) Schmidt of Richfield, Mary Ann (Frank) Ewert of Neosho and Arlene (Walter) Kohler of West Bend; three sisters-in-law, Marcella Heinecke of Oconomowoc, Florence Heinecke of Kewaskum and Dorothy Heinecke of St. Anthony. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gerald, in 1993; five brothers, Edwin, Erwin, Harry, Merlin and Robert; and one sister-in-law, Agnes Heinecke.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend and on Monday, May 1 from 9:30 until the time of funeral services at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Kohlsville. Services began at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Steven Bode officiating. Burial followed at Holy Angels Cemetery, West Bend.

Raymond Erhardt
Raymond Erhardt, formerly of Slinger, passed away in Tucson, Ariz. on Jan. 11, 2000. He was 77 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters, Lynn Rae Mattson, Marsha (Jack) Bardeen, Deverah (Paul) Kielb; son, Randall (Donna) Erhardt; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Jo Ann) Erhardt and Donald Erhardt; sisters, Penny (David) Griffin and Maryann (Eric) Olson; and brother-in-law, James Bowman.
Memorial services will be held at the Phillip Funeral Home, Slinger, on Saturday, April 29 at 11 a.m. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Remembrances to the Washington County American Legion, P.O. Box 101, Allenton, Wis. 53002, are appreciated.

Thelma DeMerchant (nee Roberts)
Thelma DeMerchant (nee Roberts) of Hartford passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2000 at Hartford Memorial Hospital. She was 82 years old.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1917, in Rosebud, N. Mex., to Warner and Lydia (nee McMillan) Roberts. She married Ivan DeMerchant on Sept. 30, 1945 in Amarillo, Tex.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Philpitt of Hartford and Diane DeMerchant of Milwaukee; son, Wayne (Sandra) DeMerchant of Hartford; seven grandchildren, Leda (fiance Dan Ketelhohn) Traub of Texas, Stacy Philpitt of South Milwaukee, Alex (Michelle) De-Merchant, Derek DeMerchant, Adam DeMerchant, Rayna De-Merchant and Natira De-Merchant, all of Hartford; six great-grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, and Ariel Traub, Zoe Hoffman and Amber and Katherine Ketelhohn; brother, Thane (June) Roberts of Texas; sister, Cumo (Willard) Cross of Connecticut; and special friends, Rev. Bervie Scott of Sauk City, Mabel Margelowsky and Audrey Koehler, both of Hartford. Thelma is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan; and brother, Wayne Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Arv Arveson officiating.
Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
