Harriet E. Schatz, 100
Harriet E. Schatz, nee Bauer, 100, of West Bend, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
She was born Jan. 1, 1900, in the town of Richfield, to the late William and Katherine (nee Reichert) Bauer.
After her marriage to Arthur J. Schatz on Nov. 25, 1920, in the town of Richfield the couple lived in Colgate.
She was very active in the community with volunteer work, with Homemakers Group of Washington County, North Lisbon and Community Memorial Hospital.
Harriet loved sewing, cooking and gardening.
Her husband passed away Feb. 15, 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Baumgartner of Jackson; six grandchildren, Dan (Sandy), LuAnn (Ed), Karen, John, Al (Lori) and Jeff (Debbie); 10 grandchildren; a sister, Eunice Klumb of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a son, Gordon; a son-in-law, Robert Baumgartner; a sister, and two brothers.
She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church of Colgate.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 16, at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend.
Rev. Cindy M. Thompson will officiate, and interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Colgate, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are appreciated to Zion United Methodist Church or the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

Eugene L. 'Geno' Swalby II
Eugene L. "Geno" Swalby II, 45, of Chisholm, Minn., formerly of West Bend, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 13, 1955, in Fond du Lac, to the late Eugene L. Sr. and Florence M. (Mossong) Swalby, and married Barbara Smith on March 29, 1982, in Mesa, Ariz.
He worked as a machine operator at Minnesota Twist Drill in Chisholm, and also served as a volunteer fireman in Chisholm for eight years.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Chisholm Blue Line Hockey Club and served as a youth hockey coach.
He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Geno graduated in 1973 from West Bend High School, and attended Arizona State University .
He had been a Chisholm resident since 1989.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kyler and a daughter, Katrina, both at home; two sisters, Kathleen (Butch) Becker of Merrill and Mary (Thomas) Ellmann of Fort Collins, Colo.; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was a son, Eugene L. III on Jan. 15, 1995.
Funeral services were held at the Rupp Funeral Home, Chisholm, on Sunday, May 14.
A memorial service was held at Grace Lutheran Church, Chisholm on Monday, May 15.

Edward A. Pawlicki
Edward A. Pawlicki of West Bend, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the Samaritan Health Center, at the age of 82.
He was born April 5, 1918, in Milwaukee, to the late Albert and Cecilia (nee Skiba) Pawlicki, and in 1941, entered the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II.
On May 3, 1943, he was united in marriage to Catherine A. Blatz in Milwaukee.
After his discharge from the Army, they settled in Milwaukee where he was employed as a maintenance engineer for the city of Milwaukee Water Department for over 30 years, retiring in 1978.
For the past 11 years, they made their home in West Bend.
Survivors include his wife; two children, William (Judy) of Delafield and Patricia (Jeffrey) Marble of West Bend; three grandchildren; three sisters, Henrietta Bartel of Milwaukee, Margaret Jankowski of Waukesha and Gertrude (Lester) Columbo of Milwaukee; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Theodore, and a sister, Helen Myszewski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 19, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend.
Rev. Gerald Brittain will be the presider, and entombment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the church only will be Friday from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, of West Bend is serving the family.

Ruben E. Ganns
Ruben E. Ganns, 91, of Slinger, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend.
He was born Aug. 15, 1908, on the family homestead farm in the town of Polk, to the late Andrew and Alice (nee Loose) Ganns.
On April 10, 1937, he married Verona Stange at the St. John's parsonage in New Fane. She passed away on May 10, 1998.
Ruben farmed on the family homestead until his retirement, and continued to live there until going to the Cedar Lake Health Care Center late last year.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Slinger.
Survivors include a daughter, Darleen Baerenwald of West Bend; two grandsons, Robert Baerenwald of West Bend and Jeremy Baerenwald of Slinger; a sister, Leona Laufer of West Bend, a brother, Walter Ganns of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Norma Stange of Plymouth; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a son-in-law, Herman Baerenwald; three sisters, Alma Peters, Bertha Hembel and Arabella Borchart; and a brother, Benjamin Ganns.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. John Tschudy of St. John's United Church of Christ, Slinger, will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to Hartford Memorial Hospital Life Line, St. John's United Church of Christ, or the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
Cremation will be held.

Martin V. Szivulka Sr.
Martin V. Szivulka Sr. of the town of Addison passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at St. Luke's Medical Center.
He was 82 years old.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1917, in Cudahy, to parents Anton and Mary (nee Kodron) Szivulka.
He married Blanche Budzinski on July 24, 1940 in Cudahy.
Martin was raised in the Cudahy area and was a graduate of Cudahy High School.
He played semi-pro football as a guard for the Cudahy Packers.
He worked as a member of the C.C.C. in Nevada in the late 1930's and served with the U.S. Army during WWII as a combat engineer.
Martin worked in quality control at Evinrude Outboard Motors for over 25 years.
He was an avid sports fan and gardener as well as a member of the Zunker-Held VFW #3358 of Slinger.
He is survived by his sons, Martin V. Jr. of Hartford and Allan A. of Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Michelle Szivulka of West Bend and Doug Szivulka of Rochester, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Lacey, Athena, Kolton and Chelsea; and one sister, Susan Gatford of Milwaukee.
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Blanche, on Dec. 12, 1991; and many brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 15 at 8 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger with Rev. William Frank officiating.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until the time of service.
Interment took place at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at Union Cemetery of Slinger.

Dorothy M. Komp
Dorothy M. Komp (nee Wiringer) of Hartford passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2000 at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee.
She was 82 years old.
She was born on Nov. 19, 1917, in Hartford, to Rudolph and Alice (nee Vincent) Wiringer.
She married Michael Komp on Nov. 25, 1936 at St. Kilian's Catholic Church in Hartford.
He preceded her in death in 1964.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Hartford.
She was a member of St. Kilian's Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Josvai of Hartford and Alice Quintin of Nashua, New Hampshire; a son, Gerald (Karen) Komp of West Bend; nine grandchildren, Ida, Samuel, Jason, Julie, Lisa, James, Jennifer, Lynn and Kristin; and five great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; and son, Michael.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at St. Kilian's Catholic Church, Hartford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. with Fr. Michael Petrie officiating. Interment St. Kilian's Cemetery.
Memorials to Diabetes Research Fund appreciated.

Alice H. Heindl
Alice H. Heindl nee Otten, 79, of Kewaskum, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.
She was born in Barton on April 8, 1921, to the late Andrew and Elsie (Fischenich) Otten, and married John Heindl.
He passed away on March 23, 1995.
Together they operated Johnny and Ollie's Tavern in Barton.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Thull of West Bend and David Thull of Mayville; two daughters, Karen Rivera of Omro and Sandra (Larry) Filo of Campbellsport; five grandchildren; a brother, Roman (Marcedes) Otten of Kewaskum; a sister, Grace Kuester of Hilbert; a sister-in-law, Jean Otten of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
There will be no services, and cremation will take place.
The Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, is assisting the family.
