Robert A. Balon, 52
Robert A. Balon, "Bullet Bob," age 52 years of West Bend passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Community Memorial Hospital of Menomonee Falls.
He was born March 13, 1948 in Milwaukee to Steve Balon and the late Ann Balon (nee Filo). On July 1, 1967, he married Beverly A. (nee Wagner), at St. Leo’s Church in Milwaukee. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, three children; Tony (friend Anni), Tina (Jeff) Mayer, and Tracy A Balon, sister; Pat (Dick) Krueger. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
Bob was an avid hunter with a great love for the outdoors.
He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Wings over Wisconsin.
He started his own construction business of custom home building and remodeling (R. Balon Construction).
He touched many people’s hearts in many ways and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, May 22, 2000 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with closing of the casket prayers at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m.
Father Patrick Wendt will be officiating. Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in the town of Farmington, following the Mass.
Visitation will be at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend on Sunday May 21, 2000 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with an 8 p.m. prayer vigil.
Memorials are appreciated. The Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend is assisting the family.

Elmer A. Stange, 93
Elmer A. Stange, 93, of Beechwood, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Beechwood Rest Home.
He was born June 19, 1906, in the town of Scott, to the late Frank and Ida (Engelmann) Stange, and on Aug. 15, 1931, married Edna Klug at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Scott.
The couple farmed on the homestead in the town of Scott from 1931 until their retirement, and had made their home in Beechwood since 1981.
Mr. Stange was an insurance agent for Heritage Mutual Insurance Co. for 45 years, Franklin Mutual Insurance Co. for 50 years, and also worked with Wilson Insurance Co. for many years.
He was an elder and member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Scott, and held other church offices, and was a member of the Lutheran Layman's League and Dartball League for 40 years.
He was also a member of the Beechwood Fire Department for 50 years, the XYZ and ABC Senior Citizens organizations, a Beechwood school bus driver for 15 years, an umpire for Rainbow Baseball League, organized the Beechwood Little League Baseball and was active in the area recycling program.
Survivors include his wife, Edna, a resident of the Beechwood Rest Home; two daughters, Cordell (Roger) Strack of Kewaskum and Corinne (Edward) Koepke of Beechwood; seven grandchildren, Debra (Glenn) Grosz, Douglas (Brenda) Strack, Diane Strack, Sherry (Tim) Cullen, Michael (Joy) Koepke, Lori Koepke and Julie Koepke; six great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Edna Stange; three brothers, Oscar, Clarence and Carl "Jack" Stange; and a great-grandson, Timothy Cullen.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Scott. Rev. William Robinson will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church only on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to the Lutheran Layman's League or The Lutheran Hour are appreciated.

William W. Chapman, 75
William W. Chapman of West Bend, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, at the age of 75.
He was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Hubbell, Mich. to the late William and Gertrude (nee Moerke) Chapman, and married Mary Ann Kilday.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Mary Ann; a stepdaughter Valerie Marsch of New York, N.Y.; a sister, Florence (Merlin) Nelson of Spring Green; a brother, Roland (Marie) of Oconomowc; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Wally.
According to Bill's wishes, there will be no visitation or services
A commital service will be held at Southeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Union Grove.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

Lorena M. Heberer, 91
Lorena M. Heberer, nee Deckliver, 91, of New Fane, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Beechwood Rest Home, Beechwood.
She was born Dec. 13, 1908, in the town of Scott, to the late Wilhelm and Henrietta (Vetter) Deckliver, and on June 28, 1930, married Arthur O. Heberer at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Scott.
Her husband passed away on May 13, 1987.
Mrs. Heberer was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane, the LCW and New Fane Kettle Riders Snowmobile Club.
Survivors include two children, Marilyn (Eugene) Bohn of Kewaskum and Ira (Marleen) of New Fane; two granddaughters, Monica Bohn of Horicon and Susan (Jeff) Wells of Allen, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Kelly Wells of Allen, Texas; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, two sisters and a great-granddaughter, Jamie Rose Wells.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 22, at St. John Lutheran Church, New Fane. Rev. Mark Eckert will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church only on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to St. John New Building Fund are appreciated.

Leonard L. Sarnowski, 77
Leonard L. Sarnowski, 77, of Adell, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend.
He was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Milwaukee, to the late John and Clara (Kocanski) Sarnowski, and on Feb. 5, 1944, married June Jagielski in Milwaukee.
Mr. Sarnowski was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kewaskum, and a former member of St. Matthias Catholic Church, Auburn.
He retired from the Milwaukee railroad in 1982 after 33 years.
Mr. Sarnowski served in the U.S. Army from 1942-'45, serving in the European Theater during World War II where he received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Milwaukee VFW No. 2304 and Chapter 1 DAV.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Leonard A. of Campbellsport, Melvin of York, Neb., Joyce McSweeney of St. Francis, Patricia (Darve) Jason of Milwaukee and Donna (Jim ) Brown of Germantown; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph (Erica) of Milwaukee and John (Nancy) of Greenfield; a sister, Frances Walter of Waupaca; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Raymond and Ronald, and a sister, Bernice Somers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at St. Matthias Catholic Church, Auburn. Father Mark Jones will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church only on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Kathryn 'Katie' Kaehny, 81
Kathryn "Katie" Kaenhy, nee Lorenz, 81, of the town of West Bend, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 22, 1918, in the town of West Bend, to the late Henry and Catherine (nee Wagner) Lorenz.
After graduating from high school, Katie attended Normal School and taught in the West Bend area until her marriage to Robert J. Kaehny on April 26, 1943, at Holy Angels Church, West Bend.
After Bob's discharge from the U.S. Army they settled in Germantown, and since 1956, the family has lived in the town of West Bend.
Katie was the bookkeeper for Quality Cabinet Shop for many years, retiring in 1990. She was also a poll worker for the town of West Bend and volunteered in the library at St. Frances Cabrini School.
Survivors include her husband; seven children, Jack (Kathy), Don (Janice), Mike (Sandie), Bob (fiancee Kathryn Paulson) and David (Lisa), all of West Bend, Pat (Richard) Schroeder of Oregon, Wis. and Paul (Judy) of Oconomowoc; 17 grandchildren, Michelle (Jerry), John, Lisa (Brian), Jeff (Deanne), Peter, Andy (Andrea). Joe, Rachel, Tessa, Brian, Karen, Becky, Sarah, Tony, Daniel, Megan and Natalie; a brother, Frank (Genevieve) of Milwaukee; a sister, Carolyn Kirschman of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Lorenz of West Bend; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, with Father Jerome Rinzel, a nephew, as the presider. Burial will be Wednesday in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 4 to 6:45 p.m.
Those who wish may give memorials to the American Cancer Society or to St. Frances Cabrini Church Building Fund.

Willard J. Calenberg, 79
Willard J. Callenberg, 79, of West Bend, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of West Bend.
He was born Dec. 15, 1920, in Allenton to the late Alex and Clara (nee Landvatter) Calenberg, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
After his marriage to Marian R. Klein on June 7, 1947, in West Bend, the couple moved to rural Newburg and later to rural Saukville. They settled in West Bend nine years ago.
He was employed at Mercury Marine for over 40 years, retiring in 1986.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Carol (Marisa Laviola) of Woburn, Mass. and Thomas (Christine) of West Bend; three grandchildren, Alex, Kristyn and Kathryn; two sisters, Ruth (Jerome) Wollner and Florence (Fred) Juedes, both of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend. Pastor William Dushek will officiate, and interment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials are appreciated.
