Mildred E. Merzdorf, 85
Mildred E. Merzdorf, 85, of West Bend, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Fredonia, to the late Paul and Lena (nee Parnitzke) Merzdorf.
She was employed at The West Bend Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1979.
Mildred was a charter member of Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, and volunteered at the Bethesda Lutheran Home for many years.
Survivors include two sisters, Norma Janz of Random Lake and Meta Harrington of Brookfield; a brother, Ray Merzdorf of Fredonia; many loving nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Arnold and Marvin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 28, at 2:30 p.m. at Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, with Rev. Joseph Fisher and Rev. David Meyer officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park West Bend.
Visitation at the church only will be Wednesday from 12:30 p.m until the time of services.
Memorials to Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, Bethesda Lutheran Home or Horizon Hospice are appreciated.

Nadine E. Kroh, 58
Nadine E. Kroh, nee Werner, of West Bend, formerly of Germantown, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at her residence, at the age of 58.
She was born Nov. 24, 1941, in Milwaukee, to Gilbert and Esther (nee Schmidt) Werner, and married Wayne Kroh on July 26, 1979, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Germantown.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Esther Werner of West Bend; her father-in-law, Gerald Kroh of Milwaukee; a cousin, Don (Charlene) McCubbin of Louisville, Ky.; a second cousin, Evelyn McCubbin of Louisville, Ky.; other relatives and many close friends.
Preceding her in death were her father, Gilbert Werner, and her mother-in-law, Evelyn Kroh.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 27, at 8 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend.
Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Graceland Cemetery, Milwaukee.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
Apollonia Zechner, 78
Apollonia Zechner, nee Jaeger, 78, of Campbellsport, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at her home.
She was born April 25, 1922, in Yugoslavia, to the late Baltasar and Margaret (Fessel) Jaeger, and married Joseph Zechner on June 12,1948, in Graz, Austria.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Margarete Zechner and Erika (Irvin) Wilke, both of Campbellsport; grandchildren, Heidi (Kevin) Reiley, Ericka (fiance Steve) Zechner, Anita (Doug) Hoppe, Henate, Tiffany and Scott Wilke; two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Connor; two sisters, Rosina Schmidt of Germany and Magdalena Schmidt of Hustisford; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was her husband on June 18, 1990.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 28, at 8 p.m. at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport.
Rev. Francis Malloy will officiate, and burial will be Thursday in Elmore Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 6 p.m. until the time of services.
Geraldine T. Niemuth, 71
Geraldine T. Niemuth, 71, nee Jaeger, 70, a resident of Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lomira, formerly of the town of Ashford, died Friday, June 23, 2000, at the home.
She was born Aug. 3, 1928, in the town of Ashford, to the late Jerome J. and Ann (Croell) Jaeger, and married Andrew Medinger in March, 1946. He passed away in 1953. On March 15, 1958, she married Leland Niemuth.
She was the owner and past president of Old Ironsides Battery Works in the town of Ashford until 1990.
Geraldine was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, Ashford, where she was the organist for many years.
She enjoyed horseback riding, showing horses, traveling, fishing and painting.
Survivors include her husband; children, Barbara (Michael) Camlin of West Bend, James (Helen) Medinger, Diane (Dennis) Gudex and Kevin Niemuth, all of Campbellsport; grandchildren, Angela, Jeffrey, Sheila, James A., Michael A., Nicholas and Morgan; great-grandchildren, Preston and Jaden; brothers, Eugene (Helen) of Campellsport and Orville of North Fond du Lac; sisters, Eunice (Gene) Bietsch of St. Kilian and Delores (Bud) Miller of Waupun; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a son, Richard; two brothers, Jerome A. and Richard, and a sister, Mary Ann Durham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Martin's Church, Ashford. Rev. Francis Malloy and Rev. Wayne Barta will officiate, and burial will be Wednesday in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Campbellsport.
Visitation at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Gerald W. Wagner, 48
Gerald W. Wagner, 48, of Eagle River, formerly of West Bend, died Friday, June 23, 2000, at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Hospital, Milwaukee.
He was born Jan 22, 1952, in Milwaukee, to Willis and Monica (nee Martian) Wagner, and married Mary Schoeder in 1975 in Port Washington.
He had been employed at Simplicity Mfg. in Port Washington for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Christy Wagner of Eagle River and Leslie Wagner of West Bend; a grandson, McKane Wagner of Eagle River; his mother, Monica Wagner of Saukville; a sister, Sandy (Tom) Whitman of Port Washington; three brothers, Dwayne and Willis, both of North Dakota, and Glen of West Bend; a nephew, Joel Wagner of North Dakota; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was his father.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 28, at 12:30 p.m. at the Ermenc-McLeod Funeral Home, West Milwaukee, followed by burial at 2 p.m. in Union Grove Cemetery, Union Grove.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Leonard W. Engel, 71
Leonard W. Engel, 71, of Jackson, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Brillion, to the late George and Alma (Maile) Engel, and married Arlene Stiewe.
She preceded him in death.
He was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Jackson, and worked as a teacher at Trinity Ev. Lutheran School, Jackson.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Engel of Laurel, Md., Phyllis (Jeffrey)Halter of Roswell, Ga. and Barbara Engel of Sussex; a sister, Verna Minzlaff of Marinette; three grandchildren, Heather Halter and Jeffery Halter Jr., both of Roswell, and Brittany Sturtz of Fond du Lac; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 29, at 7 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Jackson. Rev. Kenneth Schmidt will officiate, and burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Milwaukee.
Visitation at the church only will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Valiera M. Rieke, 84
Valiera M. Rieke, nee Schmidt, 84, of West Bend, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
She was born March 29, 1916, in Newburg, to the late Louis F. and Gertrude (nee Blau) Schmidt.
After her marriage to Hilton F. Rieke on Dec. 26, 1936, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg, the couple lived in St. Lawrence until settling in West Bend.
During World War II, Val was employed as a secretary for The West Bend Co.
Her husband passed away Dec. 11, 1962.
In 1974 she moved to Melbourne, Fla., returning to West Bend in 1994.
Survivors include two children, Donna (Brian) Dowling of Oconomowoc and John "Jack’ (Jean) of West Bend; five grandchildren, Loureen (Tony) Maier, Renee (Mitchell) Quick, Michael (Wendy) Dowling, James (Clarissa) Rieke and Brian (Molly) Dowling II; six great-grandchildren, Morgan, William "Trey" and Jacob Dowling, Kaitlin Maier, and Margaret "Maggie" and Jacob Quick; a brother, Lewis "Bud" of Kewaskum; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Schmidt of Kewaskum; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 28, at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with Fr. James Strupp officiating.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. until the time of services.
The family has asked that memorials be given to the Pet Therapy Program at Cedar Campuses.
Florence M. Shaw, 94
Florence M. Shaw, nee Hron, 94, of Milwaukee, formerly of West Bend, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee.
She was born Nov. 29, 1905, in Fredonia, to the late Ignatz and Clara A. (nee Crass) Hron.
At an early age her family moved to West Bend where she attended Holy Angels Grade School and West Bend High School.
On Oct. 28, 1933, she married John A. Shaw at Holy Angels Catholic Church.
He passed away Feb. 26, 1974.
Survivors include four children, Edith (Donald) Hoffmann of Amhurst, Donald (Sandra) of Shorewood, Diane (Edmond) Lipp of Phoenix, Ariz. and Ellen (William) Keeline of Naperville, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with Fr. Gerald Brittain officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.
