Dr. Frank J. Schwulst
Dr. Frank J. Schwulst of Manhattan, Kansas passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2000 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He was 61 years old.
He was born in Brookfield on Aug. 19, 1938 to parents Hugo and Alice (nee Weber) Schwulst. He married Linda Susan Wild on June 30, 1962 in Freeport, Ill.
He graduated from Hartford High School and the University of Wisconsin at Platteville. He received his Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, in animal husbandry.
Dr. Schwulst worked at the American University of Beirut, in Beirut, Lebanon from 1968 until 1974 and then as associate professor at Kansas State University from 1974 until 1997 at the Northwest Kansas Research Extension Center in Colby, Kansas. In 1997, he transferred to Manhattan. His main area of research was with sheep.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby and attended Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan. He was a member of various professional organizations.
Dr. Schwulst was a former member of the daycare board, a member and former president of the school board and a member of the city council, all in Colby, Kansas.
He was an avid reader, sportsman and bird watcher.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; one son, Lance Schwulst of New York; his mother, Alice Schwulst of Hartford; two grandchildren, Gabriel Schwulst and Desiree Rivas, both of Long Beach, Cal.; and one sister, Paula (Gerry) Coffey of Hartford. Dr. Schwulst is further survived by four nieces, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mathew (Anna) Schwulst; his father, Hugo Schwulst; and his brother, Tom Schwulst.
A Memorial Mass was held on Wednesday, July 21 at 11 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Manhattan, with Father Lawrence Grennan officiating. Inurnment will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Cemetery in Monches.
Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, Manhattan, Kansas and Shimon Funeral Home are assisting the family.

Anthony L. "Tony" Schmidt
Anthony L. "Tony" Schmidt of St. Lawrence passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at Hartford Care Center. He was 75 years old.
He was born in the Town of Hartford on Sept. 19, 1924 to parents Anton and Katherine (nee Piel) Schmidt.
Anthony was a dairy farmer in the Town of Hartford his entire life. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
He is survived by four sisters, Martha Hahn of Slinger, Leona Schmidt of West Bend, Esther Multhauf of Rubicon, and Eleanor Schmidt of Hartford. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Norbert.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, July 22, 2000 at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father Alois VanBeek officiating. Visitation was held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment took place at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery following the Mass.
Masses or memorials to St. Lawrence Catholic Church are appreciated.
The Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger assisted the family.

William F. Kestly
William F. Kestly was born into eternal life on July 23, 2000. He was 85 years old.
He was born in Milwaukee on Nov. 1, 1914, son of Dr. Ralph C. and Hedwig (nee Wilscewska) Kestly, stepson of Helen (nee Gaulke) Kestly. He graduated from Marquette High School and attended Fordham University. He had bachelor of arts and master of education degrees from Washington University in St. Louis.
His service in WWII was in North Africa and Italy. After working at Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Milwaukee, he was recalled by the Air Force in 1950. During his Air Force career, he was stationed in Norway, Illinois and Germany. He retired from the Air Force as a colonel in 1967 and taught high school German for 11 years.
He was preceded in death by his dear daughter Catherine VonDemfange. He was the beloved husband of Eileen (nee Else), dear father of Mary (Richard) Brittnacher and Robert Kestly, and proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends. He was beloved by all.
Visitation was held at the Matenaer-Schramka Funeral Home in Hartford from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26. A Mass of Christian Burial took place at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Kilian's Catholic Church. Burial was at the new St. Kilian Cemetery following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee or Marquette High School.

Violet T. Jecklin
Violet T. Jecklin (nee Rose), formerly of Hustisford, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at the Hartford Care Center. She was 90 years old.
She was born in Mapleton on March 21, 1910 to parents Walter and Ida (nee Maas) Rose. She married Lester Larson in 1935, and they lived in Hustisford. Lester passed away in 1966. In 1970, she married Orville Jecklin. They also lived in Hustisford until moving to Hartford in 1988. Orville passed away in 1994.
Violet was a Red Cross Volunteer for 30 years. She was a hairdresser and owned her own beauty shop in Hustisford for many years. She was also a member of the Hartford Senior Friends.
She is survived by a sister, Lily (Al) Luedtke of Henderson, Nev. and a brother-in-law, Orville Kirchoff of Hartford. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ivy Kinkel and Esther Kirchoff.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 21 at 7 p.m. at Divine Savior Lutheran Church, Hartford with Rev. Tom Feiertag officiating. Visitation was held on Friday at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Hartford Senior Friends prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Burial was private at Hustisford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Red Cross, Hartford Senior Friends or Divine Savior Lutheran Church appreciated.

James "Jim" Gifford
James "Jim" Gifford, beloved son of John M. and Emma Gifford of Naples, Fla. went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 22, 2000 at All Childrens' Hospital. He was 15 years old.
Jim moved to Naples in 1989 from Hartford. He was a freshman at Gulf Coast High School and a member of the Open Home Church, Messiah Lutheran Church and R.O.A.R. (radio controlled car club).
He is survived by his parents, grandmother, sisters, cousins, other relatives and many special friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 27, 2000 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Chapel, 3520 Tamiami Trail North. A joyous celebration of Jim's life will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5800 Golden Gate Parkway on Friday, July 28 at 10 a.m. with Reverend Ronald Biel officiating. Burial to follow at Naples Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Childrens' Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice in his memory.

Irene Josephine Richter, 74
Irene Josephine Richter, nee Muellenbach, 74, of Slinger, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at home with her family at her side.
She was born April 4, 1926, in St. Cloud, to the late Frank and Clara (Grabb) Muellenbach, and attended St. Joseph's Catholic School.
On Aug. 6, 1955, she married Richard L. Richter.
They resided in Milwaukee, Madison, and, for the last 38 years, in Slinger, Cedar Lake Hills, where she raised her family.
Survivors include her husband; four children, Lisa (Rick) Beder of Campbellsport, Rick of Slinger, Katie (Joseph) Wholean of Verona and Julie (David) Yerges of McFarland; five very cherished grandchildren, Clair, Quinn, Devin, Hunter and Alexandra; two sisters, Bernadette Fenton of Madison and Adeline Laudolff of Fond du Lac; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Frank of Palmyra; two sisters, Gloria Voelker of Sheboygan and Lorraine Greenaway of Miami, Fla.; and a niece, Judy Kuhn of Sheboygan.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Slinger.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Slinger, with Fr. Robert J. Bales officiating.
Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory in Fond du Lac, with interment of ashes in St. Peter's Cemetery, Slinger.
Visitation at the church only will be Saturday, Aug. 5 from 9 to 10 a.m.
Memorials are appreciated to St. Peter's Church or Kettle Moraine Oncology at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of West Bend.
The Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger, is assisting the family.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Vukelich, the Kettle Moraine Oncology Department and Lynn B. and Laurie B. of the Horizon Hospice of West Bend.

Lucille M. Thomas
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg for Lucille M. Thomas, 71, who died on July 23, 2000. Father Robert G. Sampon officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend. Interment was held at St. Augustine Cemetery in the Town of Trenton.
Mrs. Thomas was born Oct. 26, 1928 in the Town of Saukville, daughter of John and Lillian (nee Hoffmann) Wollner.
She married Lawrence M. Thomas on May 26, 1948 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in the Town of Trenton.
After their marriage the couple lived in the Town of Jackson.
She was devoted to her family and enjoyed gardening and playing cards.
She was a lifetime member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and a member of the Christian Mother’s Society and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg.
Survivors include: husband Lawrence M. Thomas of West Bend; children Gerald (Sandra) Thomas of Campbellsport, Patricia (Richard) Klumb of Fond du Lac, Marjorie (William) Klumb of West Bend, Edward Thomas of the Town of Jackson, Marlene Bichler of Sheboygan Falls, Robert (Sue) Thomas of Cedarburg and James (Tammy) Thomas of the Village of Newburg; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; brother Leroy (Delores) Wollner of the Town of Saukville; sisters-in-law Alice (Leo) Schickert of West Bend, Sister Mary Ann Thomas of Oshkosh; brothers-in-law Ralph (Hildegard) Thomas of the Town of Jackson and Joseph Woeckel of Newburg.
Further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters-in-law.

Robert G. Post
Funeral services were held in Mountain, Wis. for former Grafton resident Robert G. Post, 62, who died July 10, 2000 at the Zablocki Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Arrangements were handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg, with burial at Mountain Cemetery in Oconto County.
Mr. Post was born Nov. 20, 1937 in Milwaukee, son of Louis and Ellanore (nee Hintz) Post.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-’59.
Mr. Post married Evelyn Nelson on April 26, 1963 in Waukegan, Ill.
He worked as a printer, and was heavily involved in Boy Scouting, holding various leadership posts while living in Grafton.
He was also a member of Indian Hills Snowmobile Club and REACT Club in Grafton.
Survivors include wife Evelyn Post of Mountain, Wis.; sons Ronald (Dawn) Post of Cedarburg, Kenneth J. Post of West Bend and William R. Post of Grafton; sisters LaVerne (Norman) Eifler and Elaine Wuerl, both of Cedarburg, and Sandra Lee (Charles) Plyer of Park Falls; grandchildren Elizabeth and Timothy Post, both of Cedarburg; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by son Michael William Post.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.
