Jane E. Smith
Jane E. Smith, nee Keogh, was born to eternal life on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at Dove Health Care Center, Glendale, at the age of 78.
She was the loving wife of the late Robert N. "Smitty" Smith; dear mother of Carol A. (Lawrence) Willegal, Connie L. (David) Schneider and Judy M. Rozek; loving grandmother of Jonathan Willegal, Brian and Sarah Rozek, Peter, Elizabeth and the late John David Schneider.

She is further survived by many loving and caring friends and relatives.

Jane was a past member of St. Nicholas Church, Our Lady of Good Hope Church and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Aug. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Hope Church, North 41st and West Good Hope Road.

Interment was in Wood National Cemetery.

The Zwaska Funeral Home, Brown Deer, assisted the family.

Carla A. Sattler
Carla A. Sattler, 81, of Jackson, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, Jackson.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday from 5 p.m. until the time of services.

Edgar B. "Johnny" Ganns
Edgar B. "Johnny" Ganns, 86, of Slinger, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at the Hartford Care Center, Hartford.
He was born July 20, 1914, to the late Frank and Martha (Loos) Ganns, and graduated from Slinger High School in 1932.

Following his marriage to Lillian L. Brahs on June 12, 1943, at First Ev. Lutheran Church of Hartford, the couple lived in the Slinger area.

He was employed as a truck driver for Slinger Transfer and later was a carpenter for Ludy Zuern of Allenton. He then became self employed as a carpenter in the Slinger and surrounding areas, retiring in 1987.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Patricia (Frank) Endres of Willcox, Ariz., William Ganns of Chandler, Ariz. and Rodney (Debbie) Ganns of Slinger two grandchildren, Arian (Mike) Kase of Chandler and Crystal Beth Banns of Slinger; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Meta and Anna.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Slinger and a former member of the Slinger Fire Department.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. at The Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger, with Rev. John Tschudy officiating.

Interment will take place in Union Cemetery of Slinger on Monday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials are appreciated.

Armella M. Jacak
Armella M. Jacak, nee Schaefer, of West Bend, formerly of St. Anthony, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

She was born Nov. 10, 1907, in the town of Addison, to the late Frank and Emma (nee Hawig) Schaefer, and married Sylvan Jacak on Feb. 7, 1927, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Nenno.

Sylvan passed away on Aug. 1, 1983.

Following their marriage, the couple settled in Milwaukee, and in 1965 moved to St. Anthony. She came to West Bend in 1987.

Armella was a member of the Christian Women's Confraternity at St. Anthony Church.

Survivors include two children, LaVerne (Gerald) Mantych of Port Charles, Fla. and David (Marlyn) Jacak of Milwaukee; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Schaefer of Milwaukee and Isabelle Schaefer of St. Anthony; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were three brothers, Roland, Clarence and Elmer; a sister, Florence Reichert; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Schaefer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, Allenton. Father Richard Breitbach will be the presider, and burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services.

The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend, is serving the family.

Valentine Mergenthaler
Valentine "Whitey" Mergenthaler, 72, of Slinger, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at Hartford Memorial Hospital, Hartford.

He was born May, 1928, in Slinger, to the late Fred and Mary (Scharfenberg) Mergenthaler, and attended Slinger High School.

He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines, and later the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

After his marriage to Ann V. Duehning on Aug. 23, 1958, in Germantown, the couple lived in Slinger.

He was a master plumber and an all around general construction worker for various construction companies in the Washington County area, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Beth (Tom) Ziegelbauer and Paula (Tim) Lehn, both of Slinger; four grandchildren, Sherry Ziegelbauer, Ryan, Travis and Salina Lehn, all of Slinger; a sister, Frances (Roy) Crass of Slinger; a sister-in-law, June Mergenthaler of Hartford; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Ray and a sister, Sally.

He was a member of Construction Union Local 113 of Milwaukee.

Funeral services will be held on Monday Aug. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger, with Rev. John Tschudy officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery of Slinger at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Adeline K. Lemke
Adeline K. Lemke, nee Wolf, of West Bend, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at Harbor Haven Nursing Home, Fond du Lac, at the age of 67.

She was born Oct. 29, 1932, in the town of Wayne, to the late Herbert and Luciana (nee Simon) Wolf, and married Kenneth H. Lemke on Nov. 14, 1953, at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church, West Bend.

Ken passed away on Aug. 3, 1999.

Adeline enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and making crafts. She looked forward to the craft fairs where she and her daughters would display their handmade items. Holidays and family gatherings were her favorite.

Adeline loved to have her family around her. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her children, grandchildren and friends. She was very supportive of her children and grandchildren's accomplishments.

She will be sadly missed by all.

Adeline was a member of the Christian Women's Confraternity at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include seven children, Helen (Bernie) Kiefer of West Bend, Kathy (Dale) Raether of Campbellsport, Ruth (Keith) Luft of Fredonia, Jerry (Terri) of Cambpellsport, and Judy (Bruce) Survis, Karen Gerritson and Thomas, all of West Bend; 15 grandchildren a great-grandchild; five brothers, Marvin (Evelyn) and Simon (Clara), both of West Bend, Harold of Madison and Arthur (JoAnne) and Hebert (Jennifer), both of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Jean Mertens of Plainfield and Carol (George) Benike of Cambpellsport; a brother-in-law, Jack (Marie) Lemke of West Bend; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was a brother-in-law, Russ Mertens.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church. Father Patrick Wendt will preside, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until a prayer vigil at 8 p.m., and also Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Anton E. Konrath
Anton E. Konrath, 91, of West Bend, formerly of the Allenton area, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

He was born Nov. 22, 1908, in Rubicon, to the late Joseph and Katherine (nee Beder) Konrath, and married Marie Catherine Bingen on June 5, 1937, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Anton was a lifelong resident of the Allenton area where he owned and operated a dairy farm.

Survivors include his wife; four children Mary (Mark) Shekore of Aberdeen, S.D., James (Joanne) of Poway, Calif., Daniel (Olga) of Hartford and Joan (Michael) Geary of Mequon; eight grandchildren, Daniel (Monica), Erin, Jamie, Nikki, Brad, Scott, Stas and Caitlin; a great-grandson, Cole; two sisters, Veronica Yogerst and Virginia (Jim) Weyer, both of West Bend, and Norbert (Alice) Bingen of Allenton; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were four brothers and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 7:30 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, Allenton. Father Richard Breitbach will preside, and burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
