Roger K. Hanson
Roger K. Hanson of Neosho passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000 at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee. He was 55 years old.
He was born in Lily, South Dakota on Oct. 15, 1944 to Arthur and Thelma Hanson.

Roger is survived by his children, Ken (Gina) Hanson of Hartford, Steve (fiancee Toni Sapienza) Hanson of Hartford, and Tim Hanson of Neosho; his fiancee, Donna Gloyd of Neosho; sisters, Shirley (Al) Felchle of Redfield, South Dakota and Diane (Jerry) La Forte of Raytown, Missouri; brother, Dave (Kellie) Hanson of Sequim, Wash., He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 25 at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services followed at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Dan Schwerin officiating. Interment took place on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Jerome C. "Jerry" Gasper
Jerome C. "Jerry" Gasper of Slinger, formerly of Wauwatosa, was received into heaven by his mother, Billie, and his father, Rudy, on Aug. 26, 2000.
He was the beloved brother of Judy (Ron) McCann, Anita (Paul) Thoma, Doug (Sandy) Gasper, and Don (Bethine) Gasper; proud uncle of Margaret, Steve, Maryellen, Maureen, Melissa, Peter, Kayla, Paul, Keith, Allison and Jennifer. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by his cousin, Jimmy Henson.

Jerry was a member of Kaiser-Frazer Club and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church of Milwaukee. Visitation was held on Wednesday at the church only from 4:30 to 6 p.m. A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery of Milwaukee on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m.

The Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger is serving the family.

Edgar B. "Johnny" Ganns
Edgar B. "Johnny" Ganns of Slinger passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000 at the Hartford Care Center. He was 86 years old.
He was born in Slinger on July 20, 1914 to Frank and Martha (nee Loos) Ganns. He married Lillian L. Brahs on June 12, 1943 at First Ev. Lutheran Church of Hartford.

Edgar was raised in Slinger and graduated from Slinger High School in 1932. After marriage, he and his wife lived in the Slinger area. He was employed as a truck driver for Slinger Transfer and later was a carpenter for Ludy Zuern of Allenton. He then became a self-employed carpenter in the Slinger and surrounding areas, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Slinger and a former member of the Slinger Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; three children, Patricia (Frank) Endres of Willcox, Ariz., William Ganns of Chandler, Ariz., and Rodney (Debbie) Ganns of Slinger; two grandchildren, Arian (Mike) Kase of Chandler, Ariz. and Crystal Beth Ganns of Slinger. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Meta and Anna.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at The Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger with Rev. John Tschudy officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment took place at Union Cemetery of Slinger on Monday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m.

Jean G. Dorn
Jean G. Dorn (nee Ryder) of Oconomowoc passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000 in the Town of Oconomowoc as the result of a traffic accident. She was 77 years old.
She was born in Hustisford on Nov. 4, 1922 to Howard and Flora (nee Randall) Ryder. She married Harold E. Dorn in 1942 in Merton.

Jean was a homemaker and a member of Kettle Moraine Senior Citizens and Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church Circle. She attended Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church, Stone Bank.

She is survived by her husband, Harold E. Dorn; five sons, Larry (Judy) of Holcomb, Malcolm "Mac" (Susan) of Oconomowoc, Terry of Golden, Col., Brad (Margaret) of Burlington and Kevin (Julie) of Iron Ridge; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kettle Moraine Presbyterian Church, Stone Bank. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. with Rev. John Baumann officiating.

Memorials to Kettle Moraine Presbyterian Church or to the Stone Bank Lions Club.

Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home of Oconomowoc served the family.

Michael O. Carr
Michael O. Carr of Milwaukee passed away on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000 at his residence. He was 57 years old.
He was born in Madison on May 22, 1943 to Sherman and Marianne (Nee Fara) Carr.

Michael enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1967. He was stationed at Grand Haven, Mich., Portland, Maine, Sault Sainte Marie, Mich., Portland, Ore., and Eureka, Cal. He made three trips to the Antarctic aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter "Icebreaker." His father, Sherman, accompanied him on the last sailing of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter "Glacier" 12 years ago as it sailed back to the United States from Sidney, Australia. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as Chief in 1997.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Carr of South Haven, Mich.; his mother, Marianne Carr of Hartford; brother, Sheldon (Shirley) Carr of West Bend; stepchildren, Charles, Cheryl and Kevin; stepgrandchildren, Tre and Tyce; two nephews, Richard and Ryan; one niece, Kristin; three aunts, Betty (Eugene) Willette of Beaver Dam, Jean Waege of Tomah and Therese Carr of Hartford. He is further survived by many cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman on March 15 of this year.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford. Visitation took place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials to American Heart Association or Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic appreciated.

Lawrence J. Baasch
Lawrence J. Baasch of West Bend passed away on Monday, Aug. 28, 2000 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of West Bend. He was 70 years old.
He was born in the Town of Saukville on Dec. 9, 1929 to Joseph and Louise (nee Ponath) Baasch. He married Tina Taylor on April 9, 1952. He later married the late Mary Sina on Aug. 3, 1957. Following her death, he married Delores Kuehl (nee Fick) on Sept. 10, 1983.

Lawrence enlisted with the U.S. Army in 1947 and served his country at various bases including Heidelberg, Vilsack, Grafenwoehr, Germany, Japan and Vietnam. He was discharged in 1974. He was employed at the West Bend Company and by Washington County, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, the American Legion, VFW, DAV, The Moose Lodge of West Bend, and the Newburg Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, camping and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Delores of West Bend; seven children, Sharon (Wayne) Cowan of Houston, Tex., Catherine (Gregory) Arbo of Berwick, Maine, Joseph (Jeanna) Baasch of West Bend, Theresa Finn of West Bend, Norine Baasch and Janet Caudell, both of North Carolina, and Eugene Sina of Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren, Christopher, Rachael and Geoffrey Arbo, Susan, Jeffery and Pamela Jo Baasch, Dennis, Andrew, Alicia and Thomas Finn, and Jamie and Julie Sheets; six step-grandchildren, Brianna, Jeremiah and Eliza Bartelt and Wayne, Bruce and Jennifer Cowan; four step-great-grandchildren, Cameron and Alex Cowan, Lexi Cowan, and Devaughan Cowan; three sisters, Adeline Haug, Dorothy (Gerald) Zimdars, and Theresa Weinert. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and John; one step-son, Michael Strel; and wife, Mary Sina on May 3, 1981.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. at The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend with Father Patrick Wendt officiating. Visitation was at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Angels Cemetery on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m.

Memorials are appreciated to the Holy Angels Building Fund or the charity of one's choice.

James W. Page
James W. Page of Hartford died on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, resulting from a motorcycle accident in the town of Polk.
He worked for the Wisconsin Color Press Co. in Milwaukee.

James is survived by his parents, Donald & Barbara of Twenty-Nine Palms, Cal.; brothers, Richard and Donald Jr. Page of Twenty-Nine Palms, Cal.; sister, Dawn (Steven) Krocka of Hustisford; nephews, Cody and Jason; niece, Sabrina; and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Sinissippi Island, Hustisford at 3 p.m. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Please meet at 4554 Lake View Road., Hustisford, to be ferried to the island. Interment will take place in California.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.

Valentine "Whitey" Mergenthaler

Valentine "Whitey" Mergenthaler of Slinger passed away on Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 at Hartford Memorial Hospital. He was 72 years old.
He was born in Slinger on May 1, 1928 to Fred and Mary (nee Scharfenberg) Mergenthaler. He married Ann V. Duehning on Aug. 23, 1958 in Germantown.

Valentine was raised in Slinger and attended Slinger High School. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and later in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. After marriage, he and his wife lived in Slinger. He was a master plumber, an all-around general construction worker for various construction companies in the Washington Country area, retiring in 1982, and a member of the Construction Union Local #113 of Milwaukee.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; two children, Beth (Tom) Ziegelbauer and Paula (Tim) Lehn, both of Slinger; four grandchildren, Sherry Ziegelbauer, Ryan, Travis and Salina Lehn, all of Slinger; one sister, Francis (Roy) Crass of Slinger; and one sister-in-law, June Mergenthaler of Hartford. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ray; and one sister, Sally.

Funeral services were on Monday, Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at The Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger with Rev. John Tschudy officiating. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Interment took place at Union Cemetery of Slinger on Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 10 a.m.

Agnes Linzmaier
Agnes Linzmaier (nee Stencil) of Iron Ridge passed away on Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 at the Hartford Memorial Hospital. She was 82 years old.
She was born in Marathon on Sept. 27, 1917 to John and Anna (nee Nowacki) Stencil. She married John Linzmaier on June 27, 1953 at Holy Angels Church in Milwaukee.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Woodland. She was fun-loving with a very quick wit.

She is survived by a step-son, Joseph (Lois) Linzmaier of Dawsonville, Geo.; three brothers, Eddie (Rose) Stencil of Milwaukee, Benedict Stencil of Milwaukee and Theodore (Martha) Stencil of Marathon. Agnes is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1982; a brother, Walter; and four sisters, Mary Stencil, Emma Uraminski, Josephine Labutsky and Helen Badzinski.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Woodland with Father Russel Stommel officiating. The family greeted relatives and friends Tuesday at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford from 4 to 8 p.m. A prayer vigil was held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Woodland.

Clayton W. Seifert
A funeral service will be held Friday at 6:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Port Washington for Clayton W. Seifert, 89, who died on Aug. 26. Visitation will be at the church after 4 p.m. Pastor Jeff Suddendorf will officiate at the ceremony, with Eernisse Funeral Home assisting the family with arrangements. Burial in Union Cemetery, Port Washington.
Mr. Seifert was born Jan. 24, 1911 in Ford Dodge, Iowa, son of James and Bertha (nee Gifford) Seifert. He married Gladys Pierce on May 23, 1936 in Woodstock, Ill. He worked for 47 years installing acoustical ceiling tile for E.T. VerHalen Co. in Milwaukee. Mr. Seifert was a member of Sheet Metal Workers International Assoc. Local No. 18 for over 50 years and was also a member of the Carpenters Union.

Survivors include: daughters Sally Jo (Robert) Keller of Mebane, N.C. and Jeri Ann (James) Schmit of Port Washington; grandchildren Robin ("Chip") McCraw, Kurtis Keller, Jennifer Schmit, Christopher Schmit, Kathleen (Steve) Kohl and Michael Schmit; seven great-grandchildren.

Further survived by Wes and Mary Blumenberg of Port Washington, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gladys Seifert, brothers Erroll and Carroll Seifert and sisters Jeanette Bub and Daphna Zahn.

Memorials to Alzheimers Assoc. of Southeast Wisconsin, Port Washington Food Pantry or First Congregational Church Habitat for Humanity Project are appreciated.
