Adeline U. Gunst
Adeline U. Gunst (nee Zirbel) of Mayville, formerly of Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000 at Mayville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was 95 years old.
She was born in the Town of Herman on Jan. 13, 1905 to John and Emma (nee Retzlaff) Zirbel. She married Walter Gunst on April 23, 1932 in the Town of Herman.

Adeline farmed, together with her husband, in the Township of Herman. She was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Huilsburg and the Trinity Ladies Society.

She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy (James E.) Dorst of Mayville and LaVerne (Ken E.) Schulz of rural Iron Ridge; one son, Leland (Elaine) Gunst of rural Hartford; one sister, Gertrude (Wilmer) Kuhnke of Twin Lake; one brother, Alfons (Hertha) Zirbel of rural Hartford; one sister-in-law, Ida Gunst of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother; her husband in 1962; two sisters, Marcella Jens and Linda Nehn; and one grandson, David Schulz.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Huilsburg with Rev. Willard A. Marquardt officiating. Visitation took place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31 at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville and also on Friday from noon until the 2 p.m. service. Burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Huilsburg.

Arlyne Ann Wegner
A funeral service was held Wednesday at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Grafton, for Arlyne Ann Wegner, 77, who died on Sept. 3, 2000. Rev. Franz Rigert officiated at the service, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton.
Mrs. Wegner was born Oct. 4, 1922 in Cedarburg, the daughter of the late Harry and Lillian (nee Wolf) Van Langen. Arlyne married Howard Wegner June 19, 1943 in Grafton.

She is survived by her husband Howard of Grafton; son Jon Scott (Lynn) Wegner of Grafton; grandchildren Jeremy (Erin) Wegner of Port Washington, Lara (Scott) Lipinski of Milwaukee and Leah (Sami) Madi of Fox Point; great-grandchildren Ashton, Jacob, Nicholas and Hailey; cousin Audrey Bassett of Des Plaines, Il. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Wegner was preceded in death by son Brian and grandchild Bradley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Grafton are appreciated.

Adeline J. Hilgendorf
Funeral services were held Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church for Adeline J. Hilgendorf, 70, who died on Aug. 31, 2000. Interment was at the church cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton.
Mrs. Hilgendorf was born June 29, 1930 in Rockford, Ill., to William and Erna Bohlmann. On Aug. 8, 1954 she married M.D. Hilgendorf who was beginning his final year of studies at Concordia Theological Seminary.

Shortly after their marriage, her husband was called as a pastor in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. As they served in church work, they lived in Park City, Mont., Buhl, Idaho, Engadine, Mich., Tuscola, Ill.; Ann Arbor, Mich.; and Grafton. In 1989 she retired from the University of Michigan Hospital, where she worked as an administrative assistant in oral surgery. She was active in her church membership, loved to sew, garden, fish and take care of her family.

Survivors include: children Stephen (Ann) of Tuscola, Ill, Thomas (Mary) of Houghton, Mich. Ruth (Tom) Bretz of Villa Grove, Ill., Mary (Jack) Appleby of Atwood, Ill., Nathan (Julie) of Washington Township, Mich., Daniel (Renee) of Dexter, Mich., Lois (Tony) Love of Ann Arbor, Mich., Rebecca of Whitefish Bay.

Further survived by 13 grandchildren; 1 sister Vinita (Marvin) Brutlag and 1 brother Bernell Bohlmann both of Herscher, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hilgendorf Ministerial Scholarship Fund, c/o The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Endowment Fund, 1333 S. Kirkwood Rd., St. Louis, MO 63122 would be appreciated.

Joyce O. Fuller
Services were held Tuesday at the Unitarian Church North in Mequon for Joyce O. Fuller, who died on Aug. 31, 2000 at the age of 57 from congenital heart failure.
Mrs. Fuller was born in Canton, Ohio, to Wilfred and Arlene Laughery. While a student at Glenwood High School in Canton, she discovered her desire to serve others in need. She directed that passion by becoming a nurse, receiving a full scholarship to attend Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, where she graduated in 1964.

The following year, Bob Fuller persuaded her to marry him. After he completed college in Indiana , they moved to Wisconsin in 1967 and have resided in the Town of Grafton since 1968.

Joyce was a devoted nurse for over 30 years starting at St. Alphonus Hospital in Port Washington and continued with St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon.

Survivors include: husband Bob; sons Bregan and BJ (Brad); sister Mary Margaret Mears of Louisville, Ohio; brother,Mark Laughery of Moorpark, Calif.; and their spouses and children. Further survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Her family requests that any tributes to her reflect her love of animals by making donations to either: Pine View Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, W 4953 Hwy. H, Fredonia, WI 53021 or the Ozaukee Humane Society, 2073 Hwy. W, Grafton, WI 53024.

Jean E. Davis
Jean Elizabeth Webster Davis, 81, an Arlington, Va. homemaker who was active in community groups, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, in Arlington Hospital, after suffering a stroke.

Born in Brooklyn, Wis., Mrs. Davis grew up in West Bend, where her father operated a dairy farm.

She graduated in 1938 from West Bend High School and the next year enrolled as a student at the Groves-Barnhart School for Secretaries in Madison.

From 1939 to 1943 she worked for the West Bend Aluminum Co. and for the Enger-Kress Co.

Mrs. Davis, who had lived in Arlington since 1954, settled in the Washington, D.C. area in 1943 while she was serving in the Navy Waves during World War II.

She earned an honorable discharge from the Waves in 1948 shortly after marrying Vernon E. Davis, a native of Louisville, Ky.

In the 1960s, '70s and '80s, she was active in the Virginia Extension Homemakers, serving the Garden City, Arlington, club as secretary and president.

In the 1970s, Mrs. Davis was the extension homemaker president. Her major contribution was to assemble and edit Arlington' Extension Homemaker's cookbook "Kitchen Treasures."

Since the mid-1970s, Mrs. Davis had been been active in the Women's Committee for the Arlington Symphony and the Arlington Historical Society. In the 1990s, she was active with the Navy Women's Association.

She also held memberships with the Smithsonian Institution, the Washington Performing Arts Society and the National Organization for Women.

Her life ended peacefully after a four-year history of strokes and complications thereof.

Survivors include two sons, Warren F. Davis of Arlington and Alan W. Davis of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Doris Williams of New Raymer, Colo.; a brother, Robert (Beverly) Webster of Watertown, and a sister, Mary Webster-Abitz (Raymond Abitz) of Juneau, Wis.

Preceding her in death were her husband, and her parents, Helen and Wayne Webster.

Stuart M. Wiedmeyer
Stuart M. "Chopper" Wiedmeyer, 50, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in Outagamie County.

He was born March 15, 1950, in West Bend, to the late Ferdinand and Henrietta (Guntly) Wiedmeyer, and married Kathleen I. Beder on March 12, 1977, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Slinger.

After their marriage, the couple lived in West Bend where he was employed at the Gehl Co. and later was a self-employed truck driver for his company S.N.K. Trucking of West Bend.

He was a member of the Tombstone-Pickeral Snowmobile Club and the Lilly Snow Birds.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Nicholas of West Bend; three brothers, Eugene (Noreta), Jerome (Eileen) and Fritz (Judy), all of West Bend; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend.

Father Cicero Guise will officiate, and cremation will take place at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Joseph N. Lorenz
Joseph N. Lorenz, 84, of West Bend, formerly of Germantown, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
He was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Grafton, to the late Joseph and Margaret (Doppel) Lorenz, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

After his marriage to Ida S. Strauch on April 3, 1948, at St. Columba Church of Lake Five, the couple moved to Germantown.

He was a car man for Milwaukee Railroad, retiring in 1975.

In 1996, the couple settled in West Bend.

He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church and the Car Man's Union.

Survivors include his wife; seven children, Mark of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Paul of Pine Bluff, Ark., David (Chris) of Mequon, Rita Lorenz of West Bend, Julia (Mike) Desterhoft of Campbellsport, Ralph (Sue Ann) and Alice Lorenz, both of Menomonee Falls; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild a brother, Arnold (Gertrude) of Mequon; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Jerome; a sister, Marcella Molling; and a daughter, Mary.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend.

Father Jeffrey Haines will officiate, and cremation will take place at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials are appreciated to St. Frances Cabrini Church or the charity of the donor's choice.

Peter J. Gonring, 88
Peter J. Gonring of West Bend died Thursday, Sept. 7, at his residence at the age of 88 years.

He was born on March 28, 1912 in the Town of Addison to the late John and Katherine (nee Dornacker) Gonring. After his marriage to Hildegard Wiedmeyer on May 18, 1935, they settled in West Bend. Peter was employed at the West Bend Co. from 1934 until his retirement in 1974. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, gardening, cracking hickory nuts and raising rabbits.

Peter was a very active member of the Fr. Caspar Rehrl Council #1964 Knights of Columbus, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the 25 year Club at the West Bend Company.

His wife preceded him in death on March 5, 2000.

Survivors include five children: Carol Rohringer of St. Norbert, Manitoba, Don (Patricia), Rita (Phil) Hanson, Denis (Ann), and Alan (Norene) all of West Bend; a daughter-in-law: Barbara Gonring of New Berlin; 16 grandchildren: Martin & Carol Rohringer, Russ, Bruce, Steve & Faith Gonring; Ann Elizabeth, Patrick, Joan & Thomas Gonring; Jeff & Todd Hanson; Laurel Thompson; Julie, Kevin & Aimee Gonring; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 brother: John of West Bend; other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by one son: James; two sisters: Margareth Proeber and Angeline Duma.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 11, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 7 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Father Gerald Brittain will preside. Interment of the cremated remains will be at Holy Angels Cemetery Visitation will be Monday at the church only from 5 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. Memorials may be given to Holy Angels School Trust Fund. The Schmidt Funeral Home is serving the family.
