Harold G. Herther
Funeral services will be held today at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cedarburg, for Cedarburg resident Harold G. Herther, 72, who died Sept. 8, 2000 at Cedar Springs Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Visition will be at the church from noon until the 3 p.m. service. Rev. Wilmer Reichmann will be officiating, with burial to follow in the Immanuel Cemetery, Cedarburg. Arrangements are being handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg.

Mr. Herther was born April 30, 1928 in Slinger, son of the late Henry and Frieda (nee Krueger) Herther. He married Sylvia Wendt on June 4, 1955 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freistadt.

Survivors include his wife Sylvia Herther of Cedarburg; sons David (Linda) of Hartford and Ralph (Debbie) of Cedarburg; daughter Nancy (Shane) Kletzien of Port Washington; brothers Merlin (Viola) of Hartford Henry (Phyllis) of West Bend and Kenneth (Joyce) of Slinger; sisters-in-law Edith Herther and Caroline Herther, both of Slinger; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by brothers LeRoy and Norbert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church would be appreciated.

Robert W. Schmidt
Robert W. Schmidt, 75, of West Bend, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend.

He was born June 3, 1925, in Kewaskum, to the late Theodore and Marie (Kress) Schmidt.

After graduating from Ke-waskum High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 94th Infantry in Europe during World War II.

After returning to Kewaskum, Robert attended Marquette University and became an independent insurance agent.

He became a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Kewaskum and later for the West Bend Post Office, retiring in 1980 after 24 years of service.

Robert married Rita Albrecht on Aug. 10, 1957, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend. Together they made their home in Kewaskum, moving to West Bend in 1986.

Robert was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kewaskum, Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 of Kewaskum, Fred A. Schaefer VFW Post 1393 of West Bend, West Bend Country Club and Hon-E-Kor Golf Club.

He was also a former member and past president of the Kewaskum Kiwanis Club, former member of the Kewaskum Rescue Squad, former scout leader in Kewaskum and former coach for the Kettle Moraine Girls Softball League.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Amy Hammen of Kewaskum, Roberta Schmidt and Brad (Karolyn) Schmidt, both of West Bend; four grandchildren, Matt Hammen, Megan Hammen, Melissa Hammen and Alexander Schmidt; a sister-in-law, Donna Albrecht of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Thomas (Donna) Albrecht of Thiensville; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Julie; two sisters, Marjorie Koth and Rita Ferris-Martin, and a brother-in-law, Dr. James Albrecht, DDS.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend.

Rev. Mark Jones of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kewaskum, will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from noon until the time of services.

Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or Cedar Lake Health Care Center are appreciated.

Timothy D. 'Tim' Mueller
Timothy D. "Tim" Mueller, 21, of Madison, formerly of Allenton, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in Walworth County, following a swimming accident.

He was born Nov. 13, 1978, in Hartford, to Gerald and Nancy (Retzlaff) Mueller, and graduated from Slinger High School in 1997.

At the time of his death, he was starting his third year of college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and MATC.

He had been employed at Foley-Lardner Law Firm of Madison for more than two years.

Survivors include his mother, Nancy (Tim) Friedemann of Green Bay; his father, Gerry Mueller of Allenton; a sister, Robin Mueller of Hartford; four brothers, Daniel, Conner, Ben and Cody; maternal grandmother, Pearl Retzlaff of Hartford; maternal great-grandmother, Martha Derge of Hartford; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Johanna Mueller of St. Lawrence; aunts; uncles; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Harvey Retzlaff; maternal great-grandfather and paternal great-grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend.

Rev. James Hill will officiate, and entombment will be in Washington County Memorial Park on Friday at 10 a.m.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to the Tim Mueller Scholarship Fund at Slinger High School are appreciated.

Otto A. Laufer
Otto A. Laufer, 83, of Rubicon passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at the Linden Grove Health Care Center, Menomonee Falls.
He was born July 19, 1917, in West Bend, to the late Frank and Julia (nee Wiskerchen) Laufer, and married Beatrice Benike on Feb. 7, 1948, at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford.

Otto served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He enlisted in 1941, became a second lieutenant and went overseas in 1943. He became a captain in the Air Force in 1945.

Prior to entering the service, Otto worked at West Bend Aluminum for five years. After the service he worked at The West Bend Co. for a couple of years and West Bend Outboard Motors/Chrysler in Hartford for almost 25 years. He retired as plant manager in Beaver Dam 13 years ago.

Otto was a member of the Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post 19, Knights of Columbus, and St. Kilian parish.

He enjoyed working and fishing.

Survivors include seven sons, Michael (Debra) of Milwaukee, Joel (Geralyn) of Hartford, Alan (Carolyn) of Hartford, Julian (Jane) of Slinger, David of Denver, Colo., Peter (Lisa) of Hartford and John of Slinger; four daughters, Rachael of Stockton, Calif., Dona of Milwaukee, Emily of Slinger and Mary of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Muriel Laufer of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife; a son, Edward; and three brothers, Emerson, Robert and Francis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Kilian Church, Hartford.

Father Thomas Venne will officiate, and interment will be in St. Kilian Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials to St. Kilian's Building Maintenance Fund or the charity of the donor's choice are appreciated.

Lorinda E. Kirchner
Lorinda E. Kirchner, 82, of Wausaukee, passed away on Tuesday Sept. 12, 2000, at NewCare Convalescent Home in Crivitz.
She was born May 7, 1918, in Kewaskum, to the late Herman and Nettie (Schaefer) Butzlaff, and on Oct. 27, 1945, was united in marriage to Orin Kirchner at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.

The couple farmed in the town of Kewaskum until 1984 when they moved to Wausaukee.

Mrs. Kirchner was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Wausaukee.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Lucille (William) Perry and Diane (Edward) McAlpine, both of Wausaukee; three grandchildren, Melissa Perry, Jason and Jeremy McAlpine; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Harvey and Walter Butzlaff.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum. Rev. Mark Hannermann will officiate, and burial will follow in Lutheran Memorial Park, Kewaskum.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to Grace Lutheran Church are appreciated.

A.D. "Andy" Henderson
A.D. "Andy" Henderson, 67, of Newburg, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at the Veterans Hospital, Milwaukee.
Andy was born April 5, 1933 to the late James and Eva (Shultz) Henderson.

He served in the U.S. Navy and then resided in Milwaukee until 1972. He then married Geraldine Harr and moved to Newburg.

Andy was employed as a welder at Allis-Chalmers for 30 years, retiring in 1980.

Andy enjoyed fishing, watching the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and had been an amateur radio operator for the past 25 years.

He was a member of both Washington and Ozaukee ham radio cubs, and was a 21-year member of M.A.R.S. (Military Affiliated radio System).

He was very dedicated in providing radio and phone-patch contacts to service men and women stationed far from home. Andy was involved in many chapters through the Veterans Administration.

He was an active member of The American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans Amputee Support Group.

Andy went to the V.A. Day Treatment Center every day it was open until his health started failing. He enjoyed so many of the outings and activities, but most of all his friends there.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Gerald and Patricia (Andrew) Meier, both of Newburg; two stepsons, Lester Gocha of Milwaukee and Charles Gocha of Kiel; four stepdaughters, Gloria (Cody) West and Louise (Tony) Maples of Texas, Margaret (Joseph) Schrank and Mary (Thomas) Heitzenrater of Milwaukee; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a loving brother, Danny and Celia of Warren, Mich.

A memorial remembrance was held Thursday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Veterans Hospital, Milwaukee.

The Veterans Hospital and Borgwardt Funeral Home, West Allis, assisted the family.
