Alfred A. Ziegler
Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church for Alfred A. Ziegler, 83, who died on Sept. 10. Father Jeffrey Haines will officiate at the ceremony, and burial will follow at Washington County Memorial Park.
Mr. Ziegler was born on Dec. 4, 1916 in the Town of Jackson to the late Arnold and Amanda (nee Renard) Ziegler and married Elvera Rennicke on May 6, 1939 in Germantown. He operated the Ziegler Homestead farm in the Town of Jackson until retiring in 1972. On March 19, 1976 he married Pearl (nee Brophy) Hackbarth in Grafton. Alfred was a lifetime member of the Jackson Fire Department.

Survivors include: son Aaron (Gail) of Jackson; daughter Elaine (Dan) Krueger of Kewaskum; stepchildren Sue Ann (Charles) Hackbarth of Cedarburg, Wayne (Shirley) Hackbarth of Charlotte, N.C., Karl (Tracy) Hackbarth of Norwalk, Heidi (Brad) Rodenkirch of Campbellsport, David (Sandy) Hackbarth of Grafton and Steve (Mary) Hackbarth of Baraboo; 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 16 step-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Elvera and second wife Pearl and by a sister Viola Koehler.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Marie Schmid
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Divine Word Catholic Church in Cedarburg for Marie Schmid, 95, of Cedarburg formerly of Port Washington & Milwaukee, who died Sept. 9, 2000. Entombment was at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg assisted the family.
Mrs. Schmid was born Feb. 18, 1905 in Ketlsting, Germany to the late Wolfgang and Anna Raith. She married the late Peter Schmid on Sept. 23, 1926 in New York.

Survivors include: son Alvin (Nancy) Schmid of Three Lakes; sister Fanny Zoeller of Cedarburg; granddaughters Sue (Bill) Searls of Waunakee, Judy (Dan) Taitt of Cambridge; great-grandchildren Alex and Sydney Taitt of Cambridge.

Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice appreciated.

Gerald Van Ryzin
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Divine Word Catholic Church in Cedarburg for Gerald Van Ryzin, 74, who died on Sept. 9. Visitation with family will begin at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be private. Schramka-Gunther Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Van Ryzin was a Milwaukee Journal reporter for over 20 years and had a lifelong interest in books and newspapers.

Survivors include: wife Joan Van Ryzin; children Chris (friend Javier Calderon) Van Ryzin, Ruth (Yves) Riopel and Amy (Gerard) Curti; grandchildren Amber and Rachael Riopel, Madeline, Melanie, Steven and Joseph Curti; brother Joel Van Ryzin; sister Joan Yanny.

Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by brothers Robert and John.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice or donations to the Laubach Literacy Center are appreciated.

Judy R. Molley
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk, for Judy R. Molley, 57, who died on Sept. 10, 2000. Rev. Paul Engwald will officiate at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Krueger & Sons Funeral Home, Tomahawk.
Friends may call at the Krueger & Sons Funeral Home today from 4-8 p.m. and at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Mrs. Molley was born on Oct. 30, 1942, in Tomahawk, to the late Stearl Knipfer and Winifred Jordan. She was married to Frank Molley on Jan. 28, 1961 in Tomahawk.

She grew up in the Tomahawk area and was a 1960 graduate of Tomahawk High School. She was formerly employed at Harley-Davidson. She enjoyed being a member of the Cedarburg Players, designing costumes and taking part in local plays. She also enjoyed art, crafts and painting.

Surviving include husband Frank Molley of Tomahawk; daughter Janeene Molley of Tomahawk; sons Mike Molley of St. Augustine, Fla., Dan Molley, Don Molley both of Tomahawk; brothers Rodney (Marie) Knipfer of Tomahawk, Edward Knipfer of Tomahawk and Howard Knipfer of California; sisters Dolores Hein of Milwaukee, Pat (Don) Habeck of Tomahawk.

Further survived by five grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy E. Cyrier
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Cedarburg, for Dorothy E. Cyrier (nee Koch), 89, of Cedarburg, who died Sept. 10, 2000.
Services were led by Father Ed Wawrzyniakowski, with burial at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery, Mequon. Mueller Funeral Home of Cedarburg handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Cyrier was born May 17, 1911 in Chicago, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albin Koch. She married Paul R. Cyrier Sr. on Jan. 15, 1930, and he preceded him in death. Mrs. Cyrier was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

Survivors include son Paul (Rosa) Cyrier Jr. of Cedarburg; grandchildren Paula (Bill) Donahue of Seattle and Kathy (Glenn) McClune of Cedarburg; six great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Rose Brewer
Graveside services were held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton on Tuesday for Rose Brewer, who died Aug. 18, 2000. At the time of her death, Mrs. Brewer was a resident of Renton, Wash.
She was born in Michigan on Feb. 2, 1922 to Mary and Joseph Thomas and later moved to Grafton. She was employed for many years at Power Products.

Survivors include sons Robert Brewer, Richard "Allan" (Helen) Brewer of Buckley, Wash., and Raymond "John" (Midge) Klein of Port Washington.

Further survived by grandchildren Nikki Brewer and Tracy Brewer of Minnesota and Katie, Adam and Jason Klein of Port Washington; great-grandchildren, brother Albert (Lucille) Thomas of Port Washington and sister Amanda (Frank) Gregorio of Milwaukee.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson James Brewer.

Annabelle Tessar
Annabelle Tessar, 78, of West Bend, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, with her family at her side, following a short battle with cancer.

She was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Sheboygan Falls, to Herbert and Ruth (Isaacs) Grotenhuis, and on Feb. 17, 1951, married Allen A. Tessar at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kewaskum,

He passed away Sept. 22, 1976.

Survivors include three children and seven grandchildren, James Allen Tessar of Paw Paw, Mich. and his children, Joshua, Paul and Cole; Jack Edward (Sheila) Tessar of Shawano, and their children, Simone and Alex, and Amy (William) Pauers of Watertown, and their children, Allison and Mitchell; a sister, Ruth (Frank) Adamavich of Sheboygan; additional siblings, Richard (Marilyn) Edwards and Ruth "Dolly" (Eldon) Ramthun, both of Campbellsport, William Edwards and Gwendolyn (Jules) Dreher, both of Kewaskum and Patricia (Joseph) Darin of Brookfield; a sister-in-law, Imogene Grotenhuis of Beaver Dam; three brothers-in-law, Wayland (Darlene) Tessar, John (Mary) Tessar and Thomas (Donna) Tessar, all of Kewaskum; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Herbert and Ruth Grotenhuis and Dr. Richard and Alma Edwards; a brother, Lambert "Bud" Grotenhuis; her parents-in-law, John "Jack" and Lorinda Tessar; three sisters-in-law; and two nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, at Peace United Church of Christ Kewaskum, with Rev. Eric Kirkegaard officiating.

In honor of her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Friends may call at the church only on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to St. Joseph's Community Hospital Hospice, Kewaskum Education Youth Scholarship Fund (KEYS) or Peace UCC are appreciated.

The Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, is serving the family.

A special thank you to Dr. Marjorie Vukelich for your knowledge and support; to Rev. Eric Kirkegaard for your spiritual support offered to Annabelle and her family; to family and friends for your comforting visits, words and prayers; and to the staff of St. Joseph's Community Hospital for all your loving care, especially in the sub-acute and third floor hospice areas.

Mom will be deeply missed. She will lovingly be remembered for the quilts she made that tenderly touched the lives of many.

Jennifer E. Krause
Jennifer E. Krause, nee Hatchell, 49, of Milwaukee, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Milwaukee.

She was born March 31, 1951, in Clinton, N.C., to the late William and Thelma (nee Register) Hatchell, Sr.

Survivors include four children, Eddie (Tanya) and Daniel (Tracie), both of West Bend, Tony (Angela) of Kewaskum and Sally (Charles) May of Beaver Dam; two grandchildren, Anthony and Thomas May; four sisters, Judy Hatchell of Mississippi, Carolyn (Clyde) Pitchford of Newport News, Va., Frances Brunson of LaGrange, N.C. and Barbara Hatchell of Newport News, Va.; three brothers, William (Pat) Jr. and Ray (Chris), both of Goldsboro, N.C. and Durwood (Betty) of Clinton, N.C.; a special friend, Ronald Hedtcke of Milwaukee; other relatives and friends.

Visitation at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Sunday, Sept. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Private family graveside services will be held Monday at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Ruth M. Walz
Ruth M. Walz, nee Leberfinger, 78, of Milwaukee, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Luther Manor in Milwaukee.

She was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Milwaukee, to the late John and Marie (nee Block) Leberfinger, and married Cyril Walz on Dec. 1, 1945, at St. Agnes Church, Milwaukee.

After their marriage she was employed as a secretary at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for a few years. Later she worked in the customer service office at the Bayshore Boston Store, retiring in 1985.

Her husband passed away on Jan. 4, 1999.

Ruth was a member of the Guys and Gals Organization and the Christian Mothers at St. Albert's Parish and later at Blessed Trinity Parish in Milwaukee. She was active as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.

Survivors include three children, Robert (Marsha) of Hartford, William of Colgate and Kathleen (Frank) Lanza of Brookfield; six grandchildren, Kenneth (Jennifer) Walz, Robert Walz, Jonathan Walz, Jeremy Walz, Jason Lanza and Tracy Lanza; a sister, Doris (James) Rudig of Wauwatosa; two sisters-in-law, Marian Walz of Wauwatosa and Evelyn Walz of Sun Prairie; other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, at Blessed Trinity Parish, 39th Street and Courtland Avenue, Milwaukee.

Rev. Michael Savio will officiate, and entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery on Monday.

Visitation at the church only will be Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or Luther Manor Special Care Center, Milwaukee, are appreciated.

The Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.
