Frances E. Striedl
A funeral service was held on Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedarburg for Frances E. Striedl, 85, who died on Sept. 25, 2000. Interment was held at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. Schramka-Gunther Funeral Home of Cedarburg assisted the family with arrangements.
Survivors include: daughters Carol (Walter) Laabs, Sylvia (Guy) Preisler, Harriet (Lorenz) Rusch, Darlene (Jim) Engle; son Kenneth (Sue) Yass; sister-in-law Marian (Lloyd) Konrad of Texas; brother-in-law Richard Bellin.

Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association are appreciated.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Harry Yass and John Striedl; brother Carl Talledge; and grandchildren Christine Laabs and Robert Preisler.

Mary Raney
A memorial service was held Monday at Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg for Mary Raney (nee Hurth), 92, who died on Sept. 26, 2000.
Mrs. Raney was born May 30, 1908 in Cedarburg, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. O.J. Hurth.

She attended Milwaukee-Downer College and University of Wisconsin Law School. She was elected to honorary Order of the Coif and was admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin and Federal District Court.

Mrs. Raney was a member of Lake Bluff P.T.A., Auxiliary Board Protestant Home for the Aged, Shorewood Woman’s Club, Shorewood Opportunity School’s two-piano quartet group, Wisconsin Regional Writers, College Endowment, State Historical Society and its auxiliary, P.E.O Chapter W of Milwaukee, Shorewood and Cedarburg Woman’s Club, Bay Shore Lutheran Church, Milwaukee Athletic Club, North Shore Country Club and State Bar of Wisconsin. In addition, se was a life member of the Auxiliary to Milwaukee Boys Club.

Survivors include: daughter Mary Louise (Lawrence) McFadden of Woodbury, Minn.; sons Richard Fredric (Marlene) Raney of Glendale, Ariz., Dr. John Hurth (Karen) Raney of Glendale, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated.

Leo A. Fechter Sr.
Leo A. Fechter Sr., 70, of Random Lake, died at Valley View Medical Center, Plymouth, on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000.
He was born Dec. 16, 1929, in the town of Trenton, to the late August and Helen (Hentges) Fechter, and on March 31, 1951, married Mary Jane Schmitz at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Dacada

Leo was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, St. Mary's Chapel, Random Lake, as well as a member of The Holy Name Society.

He enjoyed working the farm, field work and playing cards with his card club.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, Anthony (Doris) of Adell, Leo Jr. (Sara) of Belgium, Thomas (Jo Anne) of Medford, William, Gerald (Julie) and Steve, all of Random Lake; four daughters, Mary Lou (Kenneth) Dommer of Grafton, Margie (Kenneth) Strack Sr. of Random Lake, Sandra (Joseph) Thill of Belgium and Jean (Timothy) Morrison of Adell; 23 grandchildren; a great-grandson; four brothers, Raymond (Arlene) of Florida, Ralph (Irene) of Newburg, August (Sylvia) and Richard (Martha), both of West Bend; three sisters, Martha (George) Meyer of Cascade, Clara (the late LeRoy) Neu of West Bend and Dorothy (James) Greismier of Hartford.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Elizabeth, and a sister, Barbara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Mary's Chapel, Random Lake, preceded by family rites at 10:15 a.m. at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium.

Father Richard Cerpich, pastor, will officiate, followed by burial in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home, 171 N. Royal Ave., Belgium, on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m., with a parish vigil at 8:30 p.m.

Paul Jan Nordin
Paul Jan Nordin, 43, of Kewaskum, passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born April 15, 1957, in West Bend, to Arthur and Faye (Schwartz) Nordin.

Paul was an avid lover of a variety of music and held special interests in hunting, fishing and woodworking.

He was a friend of many and will be missed by all.

He will always be fondly remembered by his special friends, Steve Bath of Kewaskum and Paula (Nordin) Timm of Milwaukee, and sadly missed by his canine companion, Aussie; his parents, Arthur and Faye Nordin of Kewaskum; his sisters, Sandy (David) Huehner of West Bend and Nancy Bushar of Ogema; his sister-in-law, Melva (Moths) Stockwell and brother-in-law (through marriage) Marty Stockwell and their children, Andrew, Patrick and Katie of Salem, Wis.; his former brother-in-law, Terry Bushar of Irma and his special nephew, Jonathan Huehner of West Bend.

His brother, Peter, preceded him in death in 1978.

Paul had many other close friends and acquaintances.

A memorial service will be held in Paul's honor at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of services .

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Paul's name has been established with the Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Wisconsin, 735 N. Water St., Suite 701, Milwaukee, 53207.

William Lubahn
William Lubahn, 89, a resident of the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend, formerly of Saukville, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at the Samaritan.

He was born Jan. 16, 1911, in Saukville, to the late William and Bertha (Mueller) Lubahn.

William worked on the family farm until entering the Samaritan Health Center over 50 years ago.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were five sisters, Mary Sudbrink, Gusta Parnitzke, Dela Katchever, Lena Kalies and Ella Miersch, and four brothers, Al, Clarence, Henry and Arnold.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington.

Rev. George Jorenby, pastor of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Saukville, will officiate, and burial will be in Union Cemetery, Saukville.

Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Richard C. Wittenburg
Richard C. Wittenburg of Ripon, formerly of Hartford, passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, 2000. He was 49 years old.

He was born in Hartford, son of Walter and Vera Wittenburg. He resided in Hartford for 44 years until he moved to Ripon in 1996. He was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford.

Richard is survived by his brother, Curtis Wittenburg of Rubicon; his sister, Loine (Floyd) Hockman of Brandon; two nieces, Dee and Emily Hockman of Brandon; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 107 S. Prairie Ave. (Highway 49), Brandon. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the church. Interment Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

Memorials to the Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.

Sylvester T. Rettler
Sylvester T. Rettler of Hartford passed away on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. He was 78 years old.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1922 in the Town of Hartford to John F. and Eleanor (nee Gehring) Rettler.

He was a member of the Wisconsin Alumni Association and the St. Kilian Holy Name Society. Sylvester was a dairy farmer.

He is survived by two brothers, Eugene (Virginia) and Wallace (Anna Maria) Rettler, both of Hartford; and two sisters, Valaria (Richard) Heppe of Allenton and June (Charles) Hagen of Iron Ridge. Sylvester is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leander Rettler.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford with Father Franklyn Becker officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends Monday at the Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment at St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery, Hartford.

William J. McConville
William J. McConville of Erin passed away on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at the Linden Grove Nursing Home in Menomonee Falls. He was 82 years old.

He was born in Erin on April 8, 1918 to John and Margaret (nee McGrath) McConville. He married Ann Mathews on June 18, 1949 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Thompson.

William was a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed wood-working and made birdhouses and birdfeeders.

He is survived by his wife, Ann of Erin; a daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Cook of Fond du Lac; a grandson, Paul (Betsy) O'Hearn of Hudsonville, Mich.; and a sister, Mary Wenninger of Hartford. William is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph.

A Mass of Resurrection was held on Monday, Oct. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of St. Therese, Holy Hill with Father Fred Alexander officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends on Monday at the church only from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment at St. Augustine Cemetery, Richfield.

Shimon Funeral Home of Hartford is serving the family.
