Peter Michael Bavlnka
A memorial service was held last Tuesday at Fellowship Bible Church for Peter Michael Bavlnka, 42, who died on Oct. 20, 2000. Rev. Brian Thorstad officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton.
Mr. Bavlnka was born Feb. 15, 1958 in Milwaukee, son of Paul and Ruth (nee Pospical) Bavlnka. He married Barbara Cain on Aug. 6, 1977 in Shorewood. He was employed at Perlick Corp. as a pressbreak operator since 1977.

Survivors include: wife Barbara Bavlnka of Grafton; father Paul Bavlnka of Florida; children Andrew Bavlnka of Glendale, Melissa and Matthew Bavlnka of Grafton; brothers Paul Bavlnka, David (Rose) Bavlnka of Colgate, Tom (Heidi) Bavlnka of Wauwatosa; sisters Dianna Bavlnka of Richland Center, Jan Bavlnka of Milwaukee.

Further survived by uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Bavlnka.

Memorials to Youth and Family Project are appreciate.

Delbert F. Busch
Delbert F. Busch, 84, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
he was born May 30, 1916, in Greenwood, to the late Frederick and Alma (nee Goeke) Busch, and married Edith Einfeldt on June 4, 1943.

She passed away on May 20, 1949.

Delbert served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

After his discharge, he returned to Greenwood until his marriage to Violet Otto on June 15, 1950, in Owen when the couple came to West Bend.

He was employed at Bermico Co., formerly Line Material, and McGraw-Edison, retiring in 1981.

After his retirement, Delbert worked part time as a grocery bagger at the former Prescott's Super-Value until it started to interfere with his golfing.

Delbert was a member of West Bend Lodge 1398, Loyal Order of Moose.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Bruce (Bonnie) of Cranbury, N.J., Barbara Busch and Bonnie Busch, both of West Bend; three grandchildren, Rebecca (Brett) Kardas, Bridgette (Jason) Kwarvick and Bryan Busch; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beatrice (Arles) Offord of Mikana, Wis. and Jeanette Murphy of Black River Falls; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a son, Wayne.

Private funeral services will be held at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with Rev. Sharon Stier of Immanuel United Church of Christ officiating.

If desired, memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

Virginia A. Riesch
Virginia A. Riesch, nee Meyer, 79, of West Bend, formerly of Slinger, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
She was born June 30, 1921, in the town of Polk to Frank and Catherine (Kestell) Meyer, and was raised in Slinger by Michael and Anna Meyer of Slinger.

She graduated from Slinger High School in 1939.

After her marriage to Van E. Riesch on Jan. 20, 1941, at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Slinger, the couple lived in Slinger where she was the co-owner and operator of Van's Custer Stand of Slinger for over 20 years (1950-1970s).

She was also a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Slinger.

Her husband passed away June 11, 1990.

Survivors include six children, Susan (David) Peplinski of Cecil, Michael (Ruth) of Gillett, Mary (David) Riesch Titus of Washington D.C., David of Milwaukee, Teresa Riesch of Rock Hill, S.C. and Kathleen (Robert) Racine of Slinger; three grandchildren, Michelle Peplinski of Madison, Sean Riesch of West Allis and James Racine of Slinger; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Helen Stoehr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at noon at the Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger.

Father Robert J. Bales will officiate, and cremation will take place at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac, with interment of ashes in (old) St. Peter's Cemetery, Slinger.

Visitation at the funeral home only will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

Eugene F. Jaeger
Eugene F. Jaeger, 71, of St. George, Utah, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000.
He was born June 19, 1929, in Milwaukee.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; four children, Bruce (Keri) Jaeger of Kirkland, Wash., Michael (Renee) Jaeger of Moreno Valley, Calif., Jerry Jaeger of Los Angeles and Sharon Jaeger of Long Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Mavis (Howard) Lang of West Bend.

Funeral were held Saturday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. at the St. George Catholic Church.

Interment was in the Tonaquint Cemetery, St. George.

Geraldine E. Greuel
Geraldine E. Greuel, 80, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
She was born on May 19, 1920, in West Bend, to the late Albert and Ida (nee Kohlweg) Greuel.

Geraldine was a lifelong resident of West Bend, and for over 40 years was employed as a production worker at the former Pick Manufacturing.

Her greatest joy was to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her family's cottage in Green Lake County.

Survivors include a son-law, Gary (Karen) Schneider of West Bend; two grandsons, Travis (Michelle Kempthorne) Schneider and Luke (Holly) Schneider; five great-grandchildren, Quintin, Laurin, Jarrod, Hannah and Zachary; a sister, Anita Feurst of Ripon; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Paulette Ann (nee Greuel) Schneider and a brother, Roland "Squinty" Greuel.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, West Bend, with Rev. James Eckblad officiating.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church only on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

Dorothy T. Baertlein
Dorothy T. Baertlein, 63, of Rubicon, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, at St. Patrick's Chapel, Thompson. The family will greet relatives and friends Saturday at the chapel only from noon until 2 p.m.

The Shimon Funeral Home Hartford is assisting the family. 673-9500.

Hazel Dorothy Hopefl
A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church Cemetery for Hazel Dorothy Hopefl, 94, who died on Oct. 29, 2000. Fr. Ed Wawrzyniakowski officiated at the ceremony. Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg, assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Hopefl was born March 28, 1906 in Chicago, Ill., daughter of Julius B. and Veronica (nee Schwab) McKay. She married the late Michael Hopefl and attended Divine Word Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing sheepshead.

Survivors include: daughter Rosemary Winkler of Cedarburg; granddaughter Deborah (Anthony) Kranitz of Cedarburg; grandson Daniel (Cynthia) Winkler of Grafton; great-grandchildren Matt, Tia and Kevin Kranitz, Mark, Matthew and Laura Winkler.

Further survived by many foster great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael and her parents.

Eugenie "Jean" Esser
Former Mequon alderperson Eugenie "Jean" Esser, 63, died Oct. 30, 2000 at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa as result of injuries sustained in an auto accident on Oct. 5 at the intersection of Hwy. 33 and Northwoods Road in Saukville.
Funeral serivces will be held Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Washington, at 7:30 p.m., with Farther Allan Sommer officiating. Visitation will be at Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, on Friday from 4-7 p.m.

Burial will be Saturday at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington.

Mrs. Esser was born in Flint, Mi. on Sept. 8, 1937, daughter of the late Adolph and Gertrude (nee Kielbrey) Doderer. On Jan. 20, 1957 she married Peter Esser of Mequon.

The couple lived in Mequon most of their married life, moving to Saukville several months ago.

Mrs. Esser was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Washington.

She is survived by her husband Peter Esser of Saukville; children Sharon (Dale) Ducat of Green Bay, Jacqueline (Kjell) Bjorgen-Esser of Aas, Norway, Steven (Patricia) Esser of the Town of Erin, Theresa Esser of West Allis, Kerry (Michael Nattoli) Esser of Shorewood, Patrick (Christine) Esser of Cedarburg and Valerie (Mark Smith) Esser of Saukville; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

Gilbert "Gilly" Burmeister
Gilbert "Gilly" Burmeister, 86, a longtime volunteer with the Cedarburg Fire Department, died Oct. 21, 2000.
Funeral services were held Oct. 22 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. Arrangements were handled by Schramka-Gunther Funeral Home, Cedarburg.

Mr. Burmeister was a member of the CFD for more than 50 years, and also served as a volunteer with the Cedarburg Police Department for 10 years. He is also a former member of the Cedarburg Commission on Aging.

Survivors include wife Vernona "Vera" Burmeister; daughter Nancy (Don) Scharninghausen; granddaughter Laura (Ward) Steinmann; grandson Justin Steinmann; sisters-in-law Erna Burmeister and June Fischer; many other relatives and friends.
