Gordon Edward Schroeder
Memorial services were held Tuesday at St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Mequon for Gordon Edward Schroeder of Thiensville, 82, who died Nov. 2, 2000. Following the memorial services a party, at Gordon’s request, was held at the Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post #447 in Mequon.
Mr. Schroeder was a certified public accountant. He was retired from his own accounting and tax-service company, Anderson & Schroeder, in Cedarburg. He was also retired from Phillip Lithographs Inc. of Grafton.

He was a disabled veteran and a member of James S. Hays Lodge #331 F & AM, the Wisconsin Scottish Rite Bodies and Tripoli Shrine and its Jesters. He was also a member and past president of the Cedarburg-Grafton Rotary Club. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow.

Survivors include: wife of 63 years Shirley M. (nee Cosper); daughter Vicki Lynn Champion; son Bruce Cosper (fiancee Sharon) Schroeder; grandchildren Eric Champion, Nicole Champion and Evan Schroeder; brother Chester (Mary) Schroeder; nieces, nephews and many wonderful neighbors and friends.

Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Mequon served the family.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children were suggested by the family.

Lillie Marie Schedler
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for Lillie Marie Schedler (nee Schlict) of Thiensville, who died on Nov. 3, 2000 at the age of 100. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Funeral service arrangements were handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg.
Mrs. Schedler was born March 25, 1900 in Canton, Kan., the daughter of the late August and Anna (nee Klinkerman) Schlict. She married Herman Schedler on June 21, 1925 in Hillsboro, Kan. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and active with the Ladies Aid and the choir.

Survivors include: husband Rev. Herman Schedler of Thiensville; children Florence (Mas) Hayakawa of Monte Sereno, Calif., Robert (Sharon) Schedler of Wausau, Richard (Lorraine) Schedler of Stevens Point, Harold (Yvonne) Schedler of Sacramento, Calif. and Eugene (Shirley) Schedler of Thiensville; sister Edna Glahn of St. Josephs, Mo.; sisters-in-law Margaret Schedler of Indiana , Edna Schedler of Oshkosh, Louella Schedler of Eau Claire, Esther Schedler of Butler and Minna Thames of Sun City, Ariz.; brother-in-law Walter (Charlotte) Schedler of Iron River.

Further survived by 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren other relatives and friends.

Robert C. Saltzmann
Longtime Cedarburg resident Robert C. Saltzmann died Nov. 6, 2000 at the age of 75.
Mr. Saltzmann was born in Milwaukee on Feb. 19, 1925, son of Herman and Emma (nee Sengbusch) Saltzman. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Saltzmann married Arlene Arnold on June 14, 1947. After his retirement the couple moved to the northwoods, where he was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Arlene Staltzmann, daughters Linda (Bill) Oakes and Janis (John) Chapman, both of Cedarburg, and Diane (Michael) Gray of Matthews, N.C.; grandchildren Benjamin, Linsey, Joshua, Timothy, Daniel, Joseph and Hannah; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Esther, brother Alfred and daughter Nancy.

A military memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Land O’ Lakes, Wis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Land O’ Lakes VFW Post 8400 or Hope Lutheran Church, N. 1756 Hwy. B, Land O’ Lakes, WI 54540 or to the family.

Harriet "Bunny" Protiva
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Tampa, Fla., for Harriet "Bunny" Protiva, 90, who died on Nov. 3, 2000.
Mrs. Protiva married her childhood sweetheart, Bud Protiva, and they shared 69 happy years.

Survivors include daughters Frances (Jess) Kruse of Odessa, Fla. and Harriet (Hensley) Foster of Jackson; grandchildren Bunny (John) Bauernfeind of Germantown, Mark (LeeAnn) Foster of Odessa, Fla., Nancy (Steve) Carr of Denver, Colo., Tucker and Christopher Kruse, both of Tampa, Fla.

Further survived by 10 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Memorials to Alzheimers Association or charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated.

The Schramka-Densow Funeral Home assisted the family.

McKenna L. Lorenz
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade for infant McKenna L. Lorenz, who died Oct. 31, 2000.
Rev. Richard Bidinger officiated at the service, with interment at the church cemetery in Cascade. Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton, assisted the family.

McKenna was born Sept. 15, 2000, the daughter of Gary and Jennifer (nee Spieth) Lorenz of Cascade.

She is survived by brother Tanner Lorenz; grandparents Ron (Harriet) Spieth of West Bend and Bruno (Delores) Lorenz of Grafton; great-grandfather Brendan Williams Sr. of Escanaba, Mich.; uncles Mike Spieth of Milwaukee, Larry (Mary Jo) Lorenz of Port Washington, Ron (Jeanette) Spieth of West Bend and Matt (Anne) Spieth of Plymouth; aunt Marge Keller of West Bend; cousins, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Tanner Lorenz college fund would be appreciated.

Judith Rust Deetjen
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton for Judith Rust Deetjen, 66, of Grafton. Interment is today at Forest Home Cemetery.
Mrs. Deetjen was born on Jan. 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Fred and Florence (nee Schmidt) Rust. She worked as an elementary school teacher. She was a former member of the Ozaukee Baptist Church, a member of the order of Eastern Star Lodge # 147; a Grafton Falls 4-H leader for 36 years and member of the St. Mary’s Ozaukee Pulmonary Rehabilitation support group.

Survivors include children Diana (James) Wiechert of Cedarburg, Daryl Deetjen of Hartford, Donald Deetjen of Grafton and Denise (Glen) Wegge of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren Janet, Jeffrey and Julie Wiechert, all of Cedarburg, and Everett Wegge of Nashville, Tenn.; sister Dorothy (Robert) Tubesing of Wauwatosa; nieces and nephews Jeanne Klatt of Appleton, Karen (Pete) Wood of Madison, Richard (Carole) Tubesing of Independence, Minn. and Donna (Emmette) Helm of Overland Park, Kan.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Donald and Everett Rust.

Memorials can be made to the Ozaukee Co. 4-H Foundation or the St. Mary’s Ozaukee Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Harriet Snyder, 78
Harriet Snyder of Milwaukee died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000 at the age of 78 years.

Preceding her in death were her husband Arthur and her son David.

Dear mother of Harry (Arlene) Snyder of Delray Beach, Fla., Thomas Snyder of St. Louis, Mo., and Richard (Doris) Snyder of Seattle, Wash. Loving grandmother of six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Dear sister of Elizabeth Buchen of Princeton, Wis. and Kathryn (Baxter) Newton of Madison. Also survived by other relatives and friends.

Visitation Sunday, Nov. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Services Sunday at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. under the Auspice of West Bend Chapter OES #73, followed by the religious service at 7 p.m., Rev. Arv Arveson officiating. Interment is at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

Memorial service Monday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m. at The Astor Hotel, 924 E. Juneau, Milwaukee.

Harriet was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #73. She was past Worthy Matron, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, a member of the American Association of University Women, The Ripon College Alumni Association and a long-time member of The First United Methodist Church in Hartford.

Harriet lived in Hartford for many years where she and her husband, Arthur, raised their family with fond memories.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, 226 S. Main St., Hartford, is serving the family.

Sarah ‘Sailor’ Risse, 87
Sarah "Sailor" Katheryn Risse, 87, of W6505 Highway 144, Random Lake and a resident of Silver Creek went home to be with her Savior on Friday Nov. 10, 2000.

Sailor was born on Nov. 24, 1912 in the town of Scott, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Peter) LeFever. On Feb. 20, 1936 she married the late Rollin F. Risse in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1999. Sailor and her husband owned and operated Risse Implement and Hardware for 32 years. After selling the business they owned Sarah’s Upholstery for 20 years until 1995.

Sailor received Christ as her personal Savior in 1964 and was an active and dear member of Grace Bible Church in Adell.

She was also a member of the Silver Creek Fire Department Auxiliary.

Sailor and her husband were well known for their warm hospitality, also having an open door to their home, usually serving cookies or a piece of pie. She was an accomplished story teller, and enjoyed sewing and quilling.

She is survived by one daughter, Jane (Ed) Wiebe of Fredonia; two sons, Dean (Jane) Risse of Silver Creek and Ron (Duanne) Risse of Little Kohler; seven grandchildren, Todd (Debbie), Timm (Lori), Tom and Mona Risse, Tammie (Jeff) Broin, Shane Wiebe and Laura (Todd) Kraiss; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Madelyn Seider and Eileen Ulberg, both of Adell, Naomi (Al) Schladweiler of Silver Creek, and one brother, Ralph (Leona) LeFever of Random Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2000 at Open Door Bible Church, 3420 Highway LL, Port Washington, with Pastor Sid Litke officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul UCC Cemetery in Silver Creek on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Friends may call at Open Door Bible Church on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 5:30 p.m. A time of fellowship and light refreshment will follow the service at 7:30 p.m. at the Silver Creek Fire Hall on Highway 144 in Silver Creek.

A memorial fund is being established in her name.

The staff of the Huehns-Wenig Funeral Home of Oostburg is serving the family.

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ McCabe, 85
Elizabeth "Betty" McCabe, nee Mieczkowski, 85, of West Bend, was born to eternal life on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000.

She was the beloved wife of the late Carlyle McCabe; loving mother of Patricia (Ralph) Heyward, Sandra McCabe, Jerrold (Margie) McCabe and John (Brooke) McCabe; proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; beloved "Aunt Betty" to many nieces and nephews. Betty will be missed by other relatives and many friends.

She touched many lives through her involvement in various organizations throughout the years.

Visitation at the Krause Funeral Home, 9000 W. Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a vigil service at 5:30 p.m., and at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 8200 W. Denver Ave., on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association are appreciated.
