Harriet Snyder
Harriet Snyder of Milwaukee, formerly of Hartford, died on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospice in Milwaukee. She was 78 years old.

Harriet lived in Hartford for many years where she and her husband, Arthur, raised their family with fond memories. She was very active in Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #73. She was past Worthy Matron, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, a member of the American Association of University Women, The Ripon College Alumni Association and a long time member of The First United Methodist Church in Hartford.

She is the dear mother of Harry (Arlene) Snyder of Delray Beach, Fla., Thomas Snyder of St. Louis, Missouri, and Richard (Doris) Snyder of Seattle, Wash.; loving grandmother of six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; dear sister of Elizabeth Buchen of Princeton and Kathryn (Baxter) Newton of Madison. Harriet is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, and her son, David.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford. Services took place Sunday at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. under the Auspice of West Bend Chapter OES #73, followed by the religious service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Arv Arveson officiating. Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford. A memorial service was held on Monday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. at The Astor Hotel, Milwaukee.

Marvin G. Marklein
Marvin G. Marklein of Granville, Iowa, formerly of Hartford, died on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000 in Sioux City, Iowa. He was 85 years old.

He was born in Dodge on Sept. 12, 1915 to Arthur and Susan Marklein. He married Dolores Schmidt on Feb. 9, 1939 in Hartford.

Marvin and his wife lived in Hartford, where they raised their family. He worked at Wisconsin Motors in Milwaukee. Dolores died on Aug. 25, 1992, and Marvin remarried Virginia Koehler on April 8, 1994 in Granville, Iowa, where they made their home.

He loved airplanes and held a private pilots license since his 20's and owned several of his own planes. For many years, and until 1998, he attended the EAA Fly-in at Oshkosh. He was an avid salmon fisherman in Lake Michigan and motorcyclist.

Martin is survived by his wife, Virginia of Granville, Iowa; three sons, Gerald Marklein (fiancee Sarah Kinney) of Dardanelle, Ark., Daniel (Kathleen) Marklein of Goshen, Ken., and Duane (Suzanne) Marklein of Brookfield; a daughter, Charlotte Zurn of Pewaukee; a sister, Dorothy D'Ercole of San Diego, Cal.; step-children, Dennis (Helen) Pick of Sioux, Iowa, Michael (Andrea) Pick of Norkfolk, Neb., Scott (Lisa) Pick of Pipestone, Minn., Cheryl (Dr. William) Cavel of Omaha, Neb., and Patricia Rohde of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford from 10 to 11 a.m, followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sunday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville, Iowa. Interment St. Kilian's Cemetery.

Laurinda Leach
Laurinda I. Leach (nee Schaetzel) passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000. She was 89 years old.

She was born in Germantown on Jan. 15, 1911 to John and Rosa (nee Haushalter) Schaetzel. She married C. Stanley Leach in 1936.

Laurinda attended Germantown Elementary School, Hartford High School and graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1934. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. After graduation, she taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Rockfield. Following their marriage, she and her husband lived in Hartford.

Throughout her life in Hartford, she was active in many local and civic organizations including the Order of Eastern Star, Past Matron's Club of Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, American Association of University Women, Retired Teachers Association, Hartford Senior Friends and the First United Methodist Church of Hartford. In addition, from 1955 to 1976, she taught second, third, seventh and eighth grades at the Elementary School in Slinger.

She will be sadly missed but joyously remembered by her daughters, Laurie Jean (David R.) Geddeis of Rockford, Ill. and Mary Rose (George W.) Ringer of Los Altos, Cal.; her son, John Ralph (Kathleen A.) Leach of Naples, Fla., grandchildren, David (Vicki) Geddeis of Roscoe, Ill, Brian (Rebekka) Geddeis of Wichita, Kan., Leanne Geddeis of Seattle, Wash., Mathew and Kristen Ringer of Los Altos, Cal., Sara (Jay) Terry of Seattle, Wash, Jon (Jennifer) Leach of Columbus, Ohio, and Marnie (Brian) Tracek of Overland Park, Kan.; four great-grandchildren; and niece, Elaine (nee Schaetzel) Weidemann of Madison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in May, 1984; her parents; her brother, Laverne Schaetzel; her sister, Allegra Schramm (nee Schaetzel); and two nieces.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hartford, with Rev. Arv. Arveson and Elaine Weidemann officiating. Visitation for family and friends took place at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. preceding the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First United Methodist Church of Hartford or American Foundation for the Blind.

Walter W. 'Wally' Johann
Walter W. 'Wally' Johann of Hustisford passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital in Beaver Dam. He was 87 years old.

He was born in Sheboygan Falls on Feb. 25, 1913 to William and Annie (nee Drollinger) Johann. He married Ruth Miller on June 18, 1973 at Olivet Congregational Church in Columbus.

Wally owned and operated Johann Plumbing in Neosho for 35 years. He was the fire chief in Neosho for several years. He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Hustisford.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Gerald (Margaret) Johann of Horicon and Don Lee Miller of Neosho; a daughter, Barbara Ann (Donald) Daniels of Neosho; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Johann of Wabeno; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Wolf of Hartford, Florence (Joseph) Menuier of Grafton, and Dorothy Weiss of Hartford; a sister-in-law, Agnes Johann of Phelps; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Zahn of Illinois. Wally is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene; a brother, Marvin; a sister, Viola; and two brothers-in-law, Melvin and Willie.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Hustisford with Rev. Bond Haldeman officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends on Wednesday at the church only from noon to 2 p.m. Inurnment at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Neosho.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Michael's Building Fund appreciated.

Shimon Funeral Home of Hartford assisted the family.

Cecilia A. Eimer
Cecilia A. Eimer (nee Mayer) of Pewaukee passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000 at the Hartford Care Center. She was 76 years old.

She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Oct. 30, 1924 to August and Anne Mayer. She married Melvin Eimer on Sept. 22, 1956 in Wauwatosa.

Cecilia worked for Cutler-Hammer for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin; daughter, Lynda (Ronald) Chronister of West Bend; son, Arthur (Karen) Rudd of Anoka, Minn.; stepson, Richard (Jane) Eimer of Duluth, Minn.; six grandchildren, Shannon and Autumn Chronister, Kelly (Jeff) Rudd Schwenn, Kristi Rudd, Brian and Cory Eimer; and sisters-in-law, Helen Christman and Barbara Kempker, both of Hartford. Cecilia is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Anne Scott and Judy Mayer.

Funeral Services will be Friday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. at Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford with Rev. John Tesch officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends Friday at the Shimon Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

Susan D. Borlen
Longtime Waukesha resident Susan D. Borlen (nee Wenninger) passed away on Monday, Nov. 13, 2000 at Linden Grove Health Care Center in Waukesha. She was 95 years old.

She was born in Hartford on Aug. 12, 1905 to Bruno and Rosalie (nee Mahlberg) Wenninger. She married Edward D. Borlen on Nov. 25, 1930. Edward died on May 18, 1991.

Most of her married life, she farmed with her husband. First, for Arthur Davidson (a founder of Harley-Davidson) and later on their own farm on Racine Avenue.

Mrs. Borlen was a charter member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waukesha, the St. Mary's Seniors and St. Mary's Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Waukesha Serra Club, the K.C. Auxiliary and the Catholic Study Club. She was the first secretary of Catholic Memorial High School Home and School Association, a fifty-year member of the Catholic Knights and the last member of the Goerke's Corners Homemakers Club.

Mrs. Borlen is the beloved mother of Judith A. Kelliher of Hartford and Robert E. (Barbara) Borlen of Bend, Ore. She is the dear grandmother of Pamela (Mark) Heyde of Wausau, Michael (Terri) Kelliher, James Kelliher, Christopher (Theresa) Kelliher, and Daniel (Michele) Kelliher, all of Waukesha, Teresa (Jeff) Wolf of Columbus, Audrae (Ken) Odegaard of Lakeview, Ore., Susan (Lane) Dukart of Ft. Collins, Col., and Matthew (Jennifer) Borlen of Bend , Ore. She is the great grandmother of Kristin, Michael, Noah, Allison, Eli, Tori, Brady and Peyton Kelliher, Eden, Amara, Justus and Jonah Wolf, Kurt, Kirsten, and Konnor Heyde, Jens, Eli and Nate Odegaard, and Haley and Finn Dukart. She is the sister in law of Jerome Borlen and Mary Wenninger, both of Hartford. Also surviving are other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Borlen; her parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, Nov. 16 at noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Fr. Brian Mason will celebrate the Mass. Friends may call on Thursday at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Blvd. from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. A procession will begin at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. Thursday to St. Mary's Catholic Church for the noon Funeral Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Waukesha.

Memorials would be appreciated to either the Waukesha Catholic School System or the Tyme Out Center.

Donald C. Olsen
Donald C. Olsen of Hartford died Monday, Nov. 13, 200 at Hartford Memorial Hospital at the age of 74 years.
He was born Nov. 25, 1925 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Tod and Claire Olsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen Jane.

Donald is survived by this children Janet (Thomas) Scholtka of New London, Vivian (Keith) Breunig of Hubertus, Todd (Keiko) Olsen of Commerce, Mich., and Matthew Olsen of Houston, Tex. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Olsen of Portland, Ore. and his sister Jonie (Keith) Smith of Portland, Ore., eight grandchildren and a special friend, JoAnn Jennaro of Milwaukee.

Private services were held.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.

Gene R. Belott
Gene R. Belott, 47, of Beaver Dam, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 20, 1952, in Beaver Dam, to the late Richard and Alice (Nelson) Belott, and married Susan McDermott on June 14, 1975, in Beaver dam.

Gene was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam, and a 1971 graduate of Beaver Ham High School.

He worked at TAB Products in Lomira, Power King in Beaver Dam and most recently as a manufacturing engineer at Helgesen Inc. in Hartford.

He was also a former disc jockey at Tubby's and Fletch's in Beaver Dam, and was a drummer in numerous bands.

Gene was a member of the ASQ quality control professional organization.

Survivors include his wife; his cousins, Frank (Char) Belott of Round Lake Beach, Ill., Armin Broderdorf and Beverly Broderdorf, both of Fall River, and Jeanette (Eugene) Schmidt of Beaver Dam; his aunt, Helen Schullz of Fall River; his mother-in-law, Joyce (Archie) Moore of Largo, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Michael (Kim) McDermott of Columbus, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Lisa Schwarzenbacher of Beaver Dam; his nephews, Jesse, Joey, Brock and Ryan; and other cousins, relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his father-in-law, Richard McDermott and aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Father Daniel Massie will officiate, and interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
