Marie Schmidt
A funeral service was held on Tuesday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Cedarburg for Marie Schmidt (nee Grieser) 91, of Cedarburg. Interment was held at Immanuel Cemetery and Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Schmidt was born Sept. 27, 1909 in Yugoslavia, daughter of the late Mathias and Maria (nee Reiter) Grieser. She married Valentine Schmidt on Nov. 27, 1927. They immigrated to Cedarburg in 1956. Mrs. Schmidt was a homemaker and was a passive member of the Milwaukee Liederkranz.

Survivors include: daughter Maria (Othmar) Dreiseitel of Sun City, Ariz.; son Franz (Mary) Schmidt of Cedarburg; grandchildren Alfred Jakober of Milwaukee, Richard (Linda) Jakober of Brookfield, Gerald Schmidt of Fond du Lac, Gabriele (Tom) Horrigan of Brookfield, Doris (Bruce) Rasmussen of Grafton, Christine (Peter) Spitz of Grafton, and Sylvia (Eric) Arvold of Cedarburg; great-grandchildren: Erin, Tom, Kevin Horrigan of Brookfield, Amy and Anthony Rasmussen of Grafton, Ryan and Regan Hammetter of Grafton, Derek, Ryan and Bradley Jakober of Brookfield, Matthew and Adam Arvold of Cedarburg.

She also has surviving relatives in Germany.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church appreciated.

Dorothy Ann Radue
A funeral service was held on Tuesday at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Freistadt for Dorothy Ann Radue, 77, who died on Nov. 11, 2000. Rev. Robert E. Johnson officiated at the ceremony. Burial was held at Trinity Freistadt Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg.

Mrs. Radue was born March 6, 1923 in Milwaukee, daughter of Rudolph and Ada (nee Groth) Maas. She married Clarence L. Radue on June 26, 1948 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Thiensville. Along with being a housewife, Mrs. Radue was her husband’s farm partner. She attended Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: husband Clarence Radue of Mequon; sons Clarence P. (Sandra) Radue of Mequon, Martin (Linda) Radue of Grafton, Daniel Radue of Mequon, John Radue of Mequon; grandchildren Eric, Jamie, Jennifer, Andrea and Nathan; brother Raymond (Trudy) Maas of Wauwatosa; sister-in-law Marie Klumb of Mequon; nephew Ray (Fran) Klumb of Mequon; niece Joyce (Neil) Dobberpuhl of Cedarburg.

Further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son Arthur.

Memorials to Concordia University or Milwaukee Lutheran High School are appreciated.

Thomas L. Maser
A memorial service was held on Monday at Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon for Thomas L. Maser, 45, of Mequon, who died on Nov. 9, 2000. Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, Mequon assisted the family with arrangements.
Survivors include: wife Jean; children, Jenna, Jon and Michael; parents, William and Dorothy Maser of Plymouth; father-in-law Ray Krechel; brother-in-law, John (Debbie) Krechel; sister-in-law, Judy (John) Martschinke.

Also survived by other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Tom Maser Memorial Fund, M & I Bank in Mequon are appreciated.

Philip W. Martin
A funeral service was held Wednesday at Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford for Philip W. Martin, 82, who died Nov. 12, 2000 at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Rev. Edward Freese officiated at the ceremony; Shimon Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford.
Mr. Martin was born Nov. 2I, 1917 in Stanton, Neb. to Rev. Philip and Marie (nee Schoenhals) Martin. He married Marjorie E. Uber June 20, 1942 in Milwaukee.

He was a member of St. John’s UCC, Hartford, Mayville Historical Society and the Maysteel Quarter Century Club. He was a supervisor and a safety inspector during his many years at Maysteel. He loved gardening, pitching horseshoes, bowling and singing in the church choir. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include: daughters: Mary Lynne (Alan) Schultz of Cedarburg, Jo Ellen McAvoy of Waukesha and Jane Martin of East Troy; grandchildren Scott (Kathy) Schultz of Fish Creek, Todd Schultz of Madison, Chad (Julie) Schultz of Kewaskum, Erin (Tom) Saeger of Austin, Texas and Megan McAvoy of Whitewater; great-grandchildren Taylor, Devan and William Schultz.

Further survived by sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Marjorie, two sisters, three brothers and a granddaughter, Heidi Schultz.

Memorials to Winnebago Lutheran Academy or St. John’s U.C.C., Hartford are appreciated.

Vincent "Vin" A.Y. Konig
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wisconsin Memorial Park (Chapel of the Flowers, in the main building), Brookfield, for Vincent "Vin" A.Y. Konig, 87, of Grafton. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service. Mueller Funeral Home of Grafton is assisting the family.
Mr. Konig was born on May 12, 1913 in Queens, N.Y., son of the late William George and Alma (nee Young) Konig. He married Margaret E. (nee Hoenigke) on June 14, 1941. He served in the National Guard 32nd Red Arrow division from 1938-1941. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Cedarburg and served on the Grafton School Board for 17 years (1949-1966). Mr. Konig owned and operated Industrial Door Service and he also repaired radios and TVs out of his house.

Survivors include: wife Margaret (nee Hoenigke) of Grafton; children: Jon Konig of Oshkosh, Jeffrey (Kathy) of Waukesha, and Kerry (John) Bliss of Corvallis, Ore.; grandchildren: Jeff, Jason, Jim, Adam, Benjamin, Christopher and Jessica.

He is survived by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jim.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the American Parkinson’s Association Inc., 1250 Hylan Blvd., Suite 48, Staten Island, NY 10305.

Sharon Johnson
Memorial services will be held this evening for Sharon Johnson (nee Vanden Heuvel), 57, who died Nov. 12, 2000 at her Grafton home.
A Mass will be held at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Grafton. The family will receive friends following the service. Arrangements are being handled by the Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton.

Mrs. Johnson was born Jan. 4, 1943 in Sturgeon Bay, to John and Leona (nee Kaster) Vanden Heuvel. She married Dennis Johnson on May 16, 1964 in Green Bay.

Mrs. Johnson worked at SEEK Inc. in Grafton for 12 years. She and her husband were named citizens of the year in Grafton in 1996 in recognition of their community involvement, and she was also very dedicated to the Los Toros Library in the Dominican Republic.

Survivors include her husband,Dennis of Grafton; children J. Brent Johnson of Milwaukee, Kindra L. (Jason) Busalacchi of Brown Deer and Justine M. (fiancee Jesse Kopp) of Grafton; granddaughter Riley Elizabeth of Milwaukee; parents John and Leona (nee Kaster) Vanden Heuvel of Green Bay; mother-in-law Lucille Johnson of Green Bay. She is further survived by eight brothers, three sisters, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

In lieu of flowers memorials to the Los Toros Library Fund appreciated.

Paul G. Hilmes
A funeral service will be held tonight at 6 p.m. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth for Paul G. Hilmes, 57, who died on Nov. 12, 2000.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Rev. Thomas Burton will officiate at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Suchon Funeral Home.

Mr. Hilmes was born Aug. 27, 1943 in Milwaukee, son of Eugene and Mildred (nee Schultz) Hilmes. He married Mary Schultz on Oct. 15, 1977 at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. He retired in 1999 from M-B Industries in New Holstein, where he was a sales representative. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and was a member of golf leagues, bowling leagues, snowmobile clubs, rod and gun clubs and the Bolens Racing Team.

Survivors include: wife Mary Hilmes of Plymouth; daughters Jessica Hilmes of Milwaukee, Debra (Todd) Jones of Henderson, Ky., Carol (Bob) Lauterbach of Clarksville, Tenn., Michelle Hilmes of Cape Coral, Fla.; 4 grandchildren; mother Mildred Neman of Cedarburg; brother Dudley (Edith) Neman of Mequon; sister Yvonne Welzien of Grafton; mother-in-law Martha Schultz of Plymouth, sister-in-law Sharon (Ed) Dampier of Valdosta, Ga.

Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by brother Dion.

A memorial fund is being established in his name.

Edgar G. Burkhardt Jr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Spring Street Church of Christ, 6200 Spring St., Racine, for Edgar G. Burkhardt Jr., 77, who died on Nov. 13, 2000. Guy Roberson will officiate at the ceremony. Private burial will be in the family section of the Town Schleswig Cemetery. Draeger Langendorf Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Burkhardt was born Aug. 5, 1923 in Kiel, son the Edgar and Emma (nee Klessig) Burkhardt Sr. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps from March of 1943 until March of 1946 and earned the rank of staff sargeant. He was the founder and president of Dynacom, Inc. of Cedarburg.

He married Anita Parsley Gist on Nov. 27, 1993. Mr. Burkhardt was a member of Spring Street Church of Christ, the West Racine Kiwanis Club, Howard Schroeder American Legion Post #457, the Blind Veterans Association, the Society of Automotive Engineers, and founder of CMOS Computer Club. He was a volunteer entertainer for Lincoln Village Convalescent Center and the Becker Shoop Home.

Survivors include: wife Anita of Racine; children David Burkhardt of Grafton, Jeanne Miscikowski of San Diego, Calif., Judy Becker of San Diego, Calif., Jill Burkhardt of San Diego, Calif., Janice Fitzgerald of Mequon, Nancy Samster of Minocqua; 16 grandchildren; sister Elizabeth Licato of Milwaukee; brothers William Burkhardt of Madison and James Burkhardt of Minneapolis, Minn.

The family has suggested memorials to the Racine Literacy Council, 734 Lake Ave., Racine, 53403.

Theodore H. ‘Ted’ Werner
Theodore H. "Ted" Werner, 78, of Slinger, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Ruth Hospice of Milwaukee.

He was born Jan. 4, 1922, in Slinger, to the late William and Aurelia (Mauch) Werner, attended Werner's Pond School and graduated in 1939 from Slinger High School.

He farmed on the family homestead through 1944, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

After the war he worked as a postal clerk for the Slinger Post Office, retiring in 1984.

Ted married Marie A. Hauser o Nov. 6, 1954, in Rubicon.

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Slinger, ushered for over 50 yeas, served on the church council and was on the cemetery committee.

Ted was chief ranger for the Catholic Order of Foresters and was a lifetime member of the Zunker-Held VFW Post 3358 of Slinger.

Ted served as chairman of the Washington County Park Planning Commission, was a member of the Hartford Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, the Slinger Housing Authority and the Slinger Village Board.

He was the loving husband of Marie dear father of Jane (Gary Abrams) Werner of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Thomas Werner of Sussex; cherished brother of Carol (Jerry) Rolefson of the town of Lisbon and Mary Ebert and William P. (Joan) Werner, both of Hartford; brother-in-law of Gertrude Werner of Hartford; loving nephew of Lillian Werner of Waukesha and Marie Fassbender of Slinger.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Herbert; an infant son, David; and a son, Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Slinger.

Father Robert J. Bales will officiate, and interment will be in Old St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Visitation at the church only will be Friday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials are appreciated to the Washington County Park Memorial Fund or the American Diabetes Association.

The Phillip Funeral Home, Slinger, is assisting the family.
