Catherine E. Maiers
A Mass of Christian burial will take place today at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg for Catherine E. Maiers, 95, who died on Dec. 5, 2000. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. Jelacic Funeral Home, Milwaukee, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Maiers was born Nov. 1, 1905, in Manchester, Iowa, daughter of Benjerman and Antonette Benson.

Survivors include: children Janice (Jerry) Dieringer of Longmont, Colo. and William (Jane) Maiers of Friendship; grandchildren Steve (Carol) Maiers of Hancock, Karen (Marc) Kroening of West Bend, Connie (Gregory) Ziebell of West Bend, Joseph Maiers of Cedarburg, Michael Bell of Big Spring, Texas, Amy (Tim) Menefee of Ft. Collins, Colo.; great-grandchildren: Tim, Josh, Matthew, Pamela, Amanda, Adam and Katie; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband Aloyious, daughters Lorraine Peplinski and Joyce Bell, and granddaughter Bonnie.

Annette Wirth-Kalishek
A funeral service was held on Nov. 24 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Grafton for Annette Wirth-Kalishek, 68, who died on Nov. 20, 2000. Rev. Mark Wagner officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington. Interment was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Grafton.
Mrs. Kalishek was born March 16, 1932 in Grafton, daughter of Arnold and Gertrude (nee Wulff) Kaul. She married Thomas Wirth on Sept. 6, 1958, and he passed away on Jan. 26, 1984. She married Donald Kalishek on Dec. 30, 1988 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Grafton.

Mrs. Kalishek worked in the accounting department at Trak International. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Grafton, and the Rose-Harms Legion Post Auxiliary in Grafton.

Survivors include: husband Donald of Port Washington; sons Scott (Sherry) of Phillips, Paul Wirth of Houston, Texas; step-daughters Kelly (Mel) Lightner of Kimberly, Heather Kalishek of Eau Claire; grandchildren Brock and Paige Lightner; brothers Frederick "Fritz" (Arlene) Kaul, Arnold "Huns" (Darlene) Kaul and Robert Kaul, all of Grafton; sisters Ilma (Fritz) Kratz of Grafton, Elizabeth (Frank) Errard of Cedarburg, Eleanor Maul of Mequon and Marlene Kraemer of Grafton.

Louise C. Wendelborn
Louise C. Wendelborn, nee Richter, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, at the age of 96.

She was born Feb. 25, 1904, in West Bend, to the late Charles and Barbara (nee Weinert) Richter.

Prior to her marriage to Chester J. Wendelborn on Sept. 8, 1924, in Rockford, Ill., she was employed at the Enger-Kress Co.

Her husband passed away on April 10, 1952.

Louise was employed in the laundry department at St. Joseph's Community Hospital for more than 20 years.

Survivors include five children, Eugene, Audrey Brumm, Carol (Floyd) Potter, all of West Bend, Donald (LaVerne) of Clintonville and Noraleen (Marvin) Gutterman of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a granddaughter, Margaret Ann Potter; a great-grandson, Anthony James Potter; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Wendelborn; and two sisters, Cecelia Behling and one in infancy.

A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend.

Fr. John Wutscheck will officiate, and burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery.

Those who wish, may give memorials to the Holy Angels School Trust Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Thomas N. Frederick
Atty. Thomas N. Frederick, 50, of Jackson, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 11, 1950, in Rhinelander, to Clarence and Therese (nee Smith) Frederick, and married Jennie Christy Davenport on Dec. 16, 1994, in West Bend.

Tom grew up in Eagle River, and received his BA degree from the University of Wisconsin, and then attended the UW Law School, receiving a JD degree.

He had a private law practice in Elkhorn until being named corporation counsel for Ashland County.

Tom also served as an assistant attorney general with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, and was a judge advocate while serving in the U.S. Navy.

After his discharge, Tom was named corporation counsel for Juneau County, and at the time of his death, was an assistant city attorney in West Bend.

He was a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Angela (Elliot) Christy-Faulkner and their children, Zoe, Ian and Iris of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Victoria Marie Frederick of Jackson; his mother, Therese Rose Frederick of Iron Mountain, Mich.; his parents-in law, Donald and Melva M. Davenport of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Clarence (Gayle) and their children, Lee, Eric and Clare of Land 'O Lakes; four brothers-in-law, Mike (Cathy) Davenport, Thomas (Letitia) Davenport, Jeff (Mary) Davenport and Paul (LeAnn) Davenport; five sisters-in-law, Patricia Matson, Maureen Mofford, Lori Fisher, Linda (Doug) White and Kelly (Dan) Kaiser; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding him in death was his father, Clarence.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend.

Fr. Gerald Brittain will officiate, and inurnment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Cancer Care Center at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Janet M. Ziebart
A funeral service was held yesterday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg for Janet M. Ziebart, 61, of Cedarburg, who died on Dec. 10, 2000. Interment was at Immanuel Cemetery. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Ziebart was born May 18, 1939 in Milwaukee, daughter of James and Dorothy (nee Stencel) Slivinski. She worked for Ceramite Corp. and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.

Survivors include: children Lee (Jolene) Ziebart of Mequon, James (Kris) Ziebart of Delafield, Lori (Tony) Bliesner of Port Washington; grandchildren Jacob and Lucas Ziebart of Mequon, Brian, Nicholas and Katherine Ziebart of Delafield, Jessica, Nicole, Justin and Samantha Bliesner of Port Washington; and sister Barbara (Wally) Schramke of White Lake.

Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Harold J. "Bud" Protiva
A memorial service was held Wednesday at St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Mequon for Harold J. "Bud" Protiva, 92, who died on Dec. 7, 2000.
Mr. Protiva was born in Amory, Miss. He coached football at Kirksville State Teachers College in Missouri and in Hannibal, Mo., before moving to Tampa in 1938. He worked for the Tampa Coca Cola Bottling Co. for 32 years. He was a member and former president of the Kiwanis Club of Tampa, former president of the Plant High School Dads Club, former member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla.

Survivors include: daughters Harriet Bunn Foster of Germantown, Frances Protiva Kruse, Odessa, Fla.; sons-in-law Hensley Foster and Jess Kruse; grandchildren Tucker and Chris Kruse of Tampa, Fla., Mark Foster of Odessa, Fla., Bunny Bauernfeind of Germantown, Nancy Carr of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; great-grandchildren Jessi, Collin and Kyle Kruse of Tampa, Fla., Brian, David and Andrew Bauernfeind of Germantown, Joey, Lauryn and Marky Foster of Odessa, Fla. and Dylan Carr of Highland Ranch, Colo.

Further survived by other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Willow Springs Scholarship Fund, Willow Springs High School, Willow Springs, MO 65793.

Florence E. Kochanski
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, at Spirit Life Church in Mequon for Florence E. Kochanski (nee Reiherzer), 82, of Cedarburg, who died on Dec. 5, 2000. Family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Florence was born August 4, 1918 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Alois and Hilda (nee Chesock) Reiherzer.

Survivors include: daughters Liz (John) Demontmollin of Cedarburg, Janet Stamper of Cedarburg; grandchildren: Lisa (Tim) Tansen of Plymouth, Jacquelynn Demontmollin (Aaron Layman) of Houson, Texas;, John Demontmollin (Alyssa Stephenson) of Harrison Township, Mich., and Jennifer Demontmollin (Dan Merkel) of Shorewood; great-grandchild Josiah Tamsen; brothers Gerald (Lenore) Reiherzer of Port Washington and Al (Rose Marie) Reiherzer of Elkhorn.

Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Florence was preceded in death by brothers Richard, Jim, Bill and Dan.

Leo R. Knetter
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Divine Word Catholic Church in Cedarburg for Leo R. Knetter, 24, of Grafton, who died on Dec. 10, 2000. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton. Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Knetter was born June 1, 1976 in Port Washington, son of Robert and Nancy (nee Krall) Knetter of Grafton. He was a commercial fisherman in Alaska.

Survivors include: parents Robert and Nancy Knetter of Grafton; brothers and sisters Patrick (Louise) Knetter of Port Washington, Michael (fiancee Laura) Knetter of Grafton, Jack (Donna) Knetter of Waubeka, Cheri (Greg) Richardson of Grafton, Lauri (Brian) Helm of Jackson, Larry (Kathy) Knetter of Houston, Texas, Lynn (David) Heritsch of Wausaukee, Lisa (Jim) Poplin of Kingwood, Texas, Lu Ann (Curt) Paul of Milwaukee, Lois (Greg) Ross of Port Washington, Frank (friend Danyal) Knetter of Grafton, Mary Knetter of Juneau, Alaska and Jill Knetter of Cedarburg; grandfather Frank Krall of Arpin; godchild Dean Knetter of Waubeka.

Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice is appreciated.

Marie M. Henke
A funeral service was held on Tuesday at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend for Marie M. Henke, 79, who died on Dec. 8, 2000. Fr. Jeffrey Haines officiated at the ceremony. The Phillip Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Interment was at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery of Mequon following the service.
Mrs. Henke was born Dec. 14, 1920 in Sheboygan County, daughter of John and Elizabeth (nee Reis) Plier. She married Walter F. Henke on May 7, 1938 at St. Cecilia Church of Thiensville. Her family felt she was the world’s greatest cook and always had time to give. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of West Bend.

Survivors include: children Janice (Ed) Dietrich of Grafton, Ron (Pat) Henke of Cedarburg, Roger (Marlene) Henke of Colgate, Kathy (Jim) Gardipee of West Bend, Marilyn (Jim) Bria of West Bend.

Further survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends, and special companion "Moon" the family dog.

Her husband, a sister and a brother preceded her in death.

Memorials to the Journey House Learning Center, 1900 W. Washington St., Milwaukee are appreciated.

Earl A. Gierach
A funeral service was held on Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton for Earl A. Gierach, 71, of Grafton. Interment was in the church cemetery. Rev. John Suelflow officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton.
Mr. Gierach was born April 17, 1929, the son of Behn and Christina (nee Hilgendorf) Gierach. He married Janice on Sept. 16, 1961 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington.

He worked as a shipping clerk for Mack Metal and also on the family farm.

Survivors include: wife Janice Gierach of Grafton; children Cheryl (John) Wagner of Belgium, Kay Kernats of Cedarburg, Keith Gierach of Grafton; sister Lydia Stern of Menomonee Falls; brother Gerhard (Lenore) Gierach of Sheboygan; and dear friend Gary Kasper of Menomonee Falls.

Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
