William C. Damerow
Cedarburg native William C. Damerow died at his home in Battle Creek, Mich. on Nov. 19, 2000 at the age of 78.
Born Feb. 8, 1922, he was the son of Otto and Lillie (nee Eickstedt) Damerow.

Mr. Damerow served during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was employed as an electrician at General Foods Corp. for 25 years before retiring in 1984.

Mr. Damerow married Doris E. Hulsebos on June 17, 1945 in Bellevue, Mich.

Survivors include his wife Doris Damerow; sons Edwin C., John C. and Dale M. Damerow, all of Battle Creek, Mich., and Brian K. Damerow of Bellevue, Mich.; daughter Luann J. Wickham of Battle Creek, Mich.; sister Lillian Dobberpuhl of Cedarburg; eight grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, a great-grandchild, a stepgreat-grandchild, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Karen, a brother, Clarence Damerow, sisters Edna Mueller, Mabel Musbach, Alice Lange and Ester Damerow.

Memorials to support hospice or diabetes work would be appreciated.

Arthur C. Schmid
Arthur C. Schmid, 79, of West Bend, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lomira.

He was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Dubuque, Iowa, to the late Arthur F. and Freida (nee Bremmer) Schmid.

He grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Rufus King High School in 1939.

Shortly after high school he moved with his family to Little Green Lake, West Bend.

During World War II he served in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy.

On June 21, 1946, he married Verna Johnson in Puckaway, Wis.

The couple lived in Chicago from 1947 to 1948 where he worked as a tool and die maker at Fastener Corp.

They moved to West Bend in 1949 and he continued to work as a tool and die maker.

In 1959 he started Midcities Tool and Die in Barton which he owned and operated for many years and currently served as chairman of the board.

He was a member and past master of the West Bend Masonic Lodge 138 F&AM, Tripoli Shrine, Knights Templer and Scottish Rite.

He was past president of Washington-Ozaukee County Shrine Club and was very active in taking handicapped children to the Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children in Oak Park, Ill.

Art was a member of the Barton/West Bend Fire Department for 21 years and served as captain of the rescue squad.

He was also a past Boy Scout leader for Troop 16 and past school board treasurer of Barton School.

He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking and working at his business.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Kelly (Mary) Schmid, Arthur (Debra) Schmid Jr., Kevin (Terri) Schmid and Kurtis (Henrietta) Schmid, all of West Bend; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; three sisters-in-law, Pat Smith of Prairie du Chien, Diane (Paul Oliver) Johnson of West Bend and Audrey (Jack Shannebarger) Hamann of Creston, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Charles (Rose) Johnson of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Kenneth.

A Masonic funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend.

Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to the Masonic Lodge, Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children, or a charity of the donor's choice are appreciated.

Raymond J. Schmidt
Raymond J. Schmidt, 88, of West Bend, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at the Samaritan Health Center.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 10 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 p.m. until a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m., and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

ROBERT A. KUENZI
ROBERT A. KUENZI, 93, formerly of Beaver Dam, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Hillside Manor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at noon, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Visitation at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, will be Saturday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Florence C. Tieglman, 87
Florence C. Tieglman, nee Gerlach, of West Bend, formerly of Newburg, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000 at the Menomonee Falls Health Care Center at the age of 87 years.

She was born on April 9, 1913 in Newberg to the late Oscar and Ella (nee Schultz) Gerlach.

In 1929 she moved to Milwaukee and opened a bakery, which she ran until her marriage to Anton G. Tieglman on June 30, 1934 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Newburg.

The couple moved back to Newburg in 1946, and her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1987.

She was a life member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Newburg, the St. John's Ladies Aid and she was a former choir member.

She also worked as a volunteer at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.

She is survived by two children, James (Sandy) Tieglman of Milton and Nancy (Alan Ortlieb) Rose of Menomonee Falls; six grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Koepp of West Bend, Krysta (Al) Schellinger of Iron Ridge, Grant Rose of Menomonee Falls, Denise Rose of Menomonee Falls, Stephanie Miller of Milton, and Heather Miller of Milton; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Koepp, Madelyn Koepp, Brett Schellinger and Mackenzie Schellinger; a sister, Alice Mey of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Leoba Mechelke.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Newburg, and burial will follow in St. John's Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Myrhum- Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, on Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from noon until the time of services.

Carroll H. Janz, 70
Carroll H. Janz, 70, of Cedarburg, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000.

Janz graduated from M.S.O.E and later worked for the Joesph P. Jansen Co. for over 26 years.

Janz was a retired member of the Plasterer & Cement Mason Union #599.

Janz was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army in Japan during the Korean War.

He was one of the original vendors of the West Bend Farmers Market.

Janz was the beloved husband of Eleanora (nee Nicolaus), and the loving father of Nathan (Jill), Mark (Carolyn), Ellen Lilburn, Joel (Joan), John (Jean) and Paula (Kevin) Barta.

He was the dear grandfather of Allison, Adam and Zachary Janz; Amanda (Chad) Martin; Laura, Jessica and Stephanie Janz; Charlene Lilburn, Devan and Blake Janz; Alexia and Izabel Janz; and Daniel Barta. He was the dear great-grandfather of Cody Martin, dear brother of Clarence (Dorothy) Janz, Clara (Robert) Quass and Shirley (Sylvester) Peters.

Janz is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Tanner Janz; parents, Jacob and Irma (nee Groth) Janz; one brother, Alvin Janz, and two sisters, Hazel Schaefer and Lucille Gatzke.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan.2 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Kohlsville, and interment will be at the church cemetery.

He will be in state at the church on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church are appreciated.

He will be greatly missed by all.
