Sylvia A. Keller

Sylvia A. Keller, nee Ehnert, of West Bend, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center, at the age of 91.
She was born July 6, 1909, in New Fane to the late Frank and Emma (nee Staege) Ehnert, and married Loran A. Keller on May 5, 1928, at St. John's Lutheran Church in New Fane.

Loran passed away on May 21, 1966.

After their marriage, the couple lived in New Fane and then Waukesha, until settling in West Bend in the early 1940s.

She was employed at The West Bend Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1975.

In addition to her employment, Sylvia was a full-time wife and mother. Her family was the most important part of her life.

She became involved in the activities of her children and later her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and canning.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend, the Ladies Guild at the church and the 25-Year-Club at The West Bend Co.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Collins of West Bend, Janet Reinhardt of Ontario, Calif. and Sandra (Raymond) Hilton of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Beverly; a son-in-law, Bill Reinhardt; a sister; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend.

Rev. George Mumm of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Joan C. Dahlen

Joan C. Dahlen, 73, of Bayport, Minn., formerly of Wet Bend, died Jan. 13, 2001, at St. Louis Park Plaza Healthcare Center.
She was born May 11, 1927, in Lewiston, Maine

Joan was a graduate of the college of engineering, University of Maine, and was a former employee and volunteer for Nova Services.

She was an active volunteer for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and was also an avid golfer.

Survivors include her children, Mark of San Diego, Calif., Marta (Kirk) Biegler of St. Louis Park, Minn., Karl of Madison, John Matthew (Brenda) of Stoughton; grandchildren, Kristopher, Caitlin and Samantha Biegler, and Kylie and Jordan Dahlen; a sister, Marjorie Jean (Norman) Black of Escondido, Calif.; a cousin, Hilda Monk of Auburn, Maine; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Theodore; a brother, John Childs Jr.; a son, John Carrol, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at the Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Avenue N., Stillwater, Minn.

Visitation at the funeral home will one hour prior to service.

Private interment will be in Staples, Minn.

Memorials are preferred to United Cerebral Palsy.

Beatrice C. Hatch
Beatrice C. Hatch, 89, a resident of the Beechwood Rest Home, formerly of Campbellsport, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at the home.

She was born July 27, 1911, in Dundee, to the late Edgar J. and Addie (Reed) Bowen, and married W. Robert "Tudy’ Hatch on March 20, 1930, in Fond du Lac.

He passed away on Oct. 11, 1986.

They had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1980.

The couple farmed together in the town of Ashford for many years and then operated the Fin 'n Feather in New Prospect from 1965 to 1976.

Beatrice greatly enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Robert H. (Marlene) of Campbellsport; five daughters, Betty (Ellis) Sook of Fresno, Calif., Donna (Carl) Ackers of Beltsville, Md., Joyce Halfmann of Kewaskum, Judy (Doug) Christensen of Hobe Sound, Fla. and Faye (David) Schmitt of Brownsville; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob (Sue) Bowen of California; two sisters-in-law, Dora " Mutz" Schleif of West Bend and Doris Bowen of Campbellsport; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a brother, Lyle; a sister and brother-in-law, Eunice and Cyril Gilboy; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Schleif; and a son-in-law, Richard Halfmann.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport.

Carole Ferber will officiate, and entombment will be on Saturday at Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

John L. Meyer, 54
John L. Meyer, 54, of Lodi, formerly of West Bend, died on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend.

He was born Sept. 26, 1946, in West Bend, to Walter "Son-ny" and Florence (nee Wagner) Meyer, and on Sept. 24, 1966, married Jean R. Hausmann at Holy Angels Church, West Bend.

John grew up in West Bend, graduated from West Bend High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

He had been employed with various companies in sales, and also managed Aimco Co. of Troy, Mich.

In 1990 the couple returned to West Bend where he was the owner of Productive Products Inc.

John's hobbies and interests included fishing, boating, traveling and golfing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

The time he spent with his children, and later with his grandchildren, were the most precious times of his life.

John was a cubmaster in Campbellsport and a member of the Fr. Casper Rehrl Council 1964 Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife and friend, Jean; two children, Jeffrey (Josephine) of Oakdale, Minn. and Jill Meyer (Brian Zimmerman) of Madison; two grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Meyer; his mother, Florence (William Sr.) Lehman of West Bend; two sisters, Ann Stoffel and Mary Kay (Ronald) Krell, both of West Bend; a brother, Walter P. "Butch" of West Bend; in-laws, Jerome and Anna Hausmann and Mark (Becky) Hausmann, all of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his father, Walter, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Hausmann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, West Bend.

Father Patrick Wendt and Fr. Charlie Wester will be the co-presiders, and cremation will follow.

Visitation at the church only will be Wednesday from 4 to 7:15 p.m.

The family has asked that memorials be given to the American Cancer Society or to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.

The Schmidt Funeral Home, of West Bend is serving the family.

John's family would like to extend a special thank you to all the friends and relatives for all of their prayers and love.

Special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman and Dr. Jon Treisman and the staff at the Vince Lombardi Clinic and St. Luke's Hospital.

Special thanks also to Fr. Pat Wendt, Fr. Charlie Wester and Alice Iaquinta and the Monday night prayer group at St. Mary's Church.

Robert E. Kent Sr., 73
Robert E. Kent Sr., 73, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, in Hot Springs.

He was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Milwaukee, to the late Edward and Margaret (Stelling) Kent.

He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, a U.S. Navy Veteran of Foreign Wars and a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Men's Club.

Robert retired from Faustel Inc., Germantown, as the vice president of manufacturing.

He was an avid golfer, tennis player, square dancer and enjoyed landscaping.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, of Hot Springs Village; a daughter, Pam (Tim) DeGroot of Racine; five sons, Robert (Liz) Kent of Corpus Christi, Texas, Michael (Diane) Kent, Patrick Kent and Kevin Kent, all of West Bend, and James (Julia) Kent of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, Abby and Nick Kent and Maggie and Tom DeGroot; a brother, Bud Kent of Port Orford, Ore.; two sisters, Laurie (Pete) Fahrendorf of West Bend and Bonnie Pope of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Thomas (Yvonne) Merrick of Oakland, Calif.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Barbara "Babs" Soudan.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 11 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village, with Rev. Victor Bieberle as the celebrant.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 1025 S. Seventh Ave., West Bend, with a reception immediately following in the church hall.

Interment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
