Gary E. Budzinski
Gary E. Budzinski, 69, of the town of Trenton, formerly of Glendale, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.

He was born July 26, 1931, in Milwaukee, to the late Gregory and Waleria (Andryszczyk) Budzinski, and graduated from Rufus King High School in 1949.

After his marriage to Carole R. Rossmiller on April 26, 1952, in Milwaukee, the couple lived in Glendale.

He later served for over eight years in the Army National Guard.

Gary was a maintenance man for the city of Glendale Water Department for over 30 years. He retired in 1992 and moved to the town of Trenton in 1996.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Debra (Craig) Stalter of Cedarburg, Sheree (Roger) Klumb of St. Louis, Mo. and Gregg (Sandra Terry) Budzinski of Lake Tomahawk; five grandchildren, Matthew (fiancee Nicole), Eric, Nicholas, Kaitlyn and Kayla; four sisters, Helen Weber of Freemont, Anne Clementi of Milwaukee, Wanda (Ken) Schermacher of West Bend and Phyllis Krumplitsch of Conover; a brother, Leonard (Pat Rogers) Budzinski of Brookfield; a sister-in-law, Mary Budzinski of Flagstaff, Ariz.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were three brothers.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Newburg and a past member of St. Mary Cestochowa Catholic Church of Milwaukee.

Gary was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the great outdoors.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Father Kenneth P. Knippel will officiate, and interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Newburg.

Visitation at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m.

Memorials are appreciated to the American Cancer Society.

George W. Rathke
Former Cedarburg resident George W. Rathke died Feb. 14, 2001 in Spring Hill, Fla. at the age of 90.

Services and internment were held in Spring Hill on Sunday.

Mr. Rathke was a retired foreman at Brunswick in Cedarburg, moving to Florida in 1978.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther (nee Tischer) Rathke.

Survivors include sons Derald (Barbara) and George M. Rathke, both of Cedarburg; daughters Sandra (David) Hoffmann of Cedarburg and Susan (John) Wittenberg of Plano, Texas; sisters Gerda (Marcus) Liesener and Esther Rathke, both of Milwaukee; brother Walter (Maryalyce) Rathke of West Bend; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hilda Wussow
Funeral services were held on Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bonduel, for Hilda Wussow, 92, former Bonduel resident, who died on Feb. 12, 2001. Rev. Leonard Wildauer officiated at the ceremony and arrangements were handled by Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano.

Mrs. Wussow was born April 23, 1908, in Bonduel to the late Helmuth and Emma (Tesch) Boettcher. Hilda married Charles Wussow June 22, 1925. He preceded her in death in 1959. She lived in the Cedarburg area for many years until 1992 when she moved back to Bonduel. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bonduel, and while in Cedarburg she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid. She also did volunteer work at a Cedarburg Nursing Home.

Survivors include: daughter Dorothy Zimmerman, Marble, N.C.; grandsons Alan (Kathy) Zimmerman and Barry Zimmerman; great-grandchildren Beck and Ava; and many nieces and nephews including Marge (Gordon) Ainsworth and Shirley (Bob) Koehler.

She was preceded in death by son Gerald Wussow; sisters Freda Boettcher and Hertha Peterman; and brother Paul Boettcher.

Harry R. Elert
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Cedarburg for Harry R. Elert, 73, of Cedarburg, who died on Feb. 18, 2001. Interment was at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin. The Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Elert was born March 7, 1927 in Milwaukee to the late Harry and Gladys (nee Petersen) Elert.

He was a retired employee of Briggs & Stratton, and served in the US Navy W.W.II aboard the USS Wiseman DE667.

Survivors include: wife Emily of 52 years of Cedarburg; children Michael R. (Honora) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Mark R. (Debbie) of Milwaukee and Mitchell R. (Joan) of Glendale; grandchildren Michael J. (Catherine) of West Bend, Mark Jr. of Milwaukee, Michelle, Nicholas and Alex of Glendale; great-grandchildren Adam and Jacob of West Bend; brothers Richard (Jeanette) of Milwaukee, Kenneth (Karyn) of Wauwatosa and Gordon (Barbara) of Milwaukee; sisters Ruth (Norman) Aas of Brown Deer and Carol (Jack) Hanson of Jackson; sister-in-law Jean (Don) Romang of Athens.

He was preceded in death by sister-in-law Evelyn Wanke.

He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Memorials to Horizon Hospice, Faith Lutheran Church or Unlimited Jazz Limited appreciated.

Shirley M. Fatla
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at Divine Word Catholic Church in Cedarburg for Shirley M. Fatla (nee DeCleene), 63, of Grafton, who died on Feb. 16, 2001. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Grafton. Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Fatla was born Aug. 20, 1937 to the late Elmer and Gladys (nee LeCloux) DeCleene and she married Anton "Tony" Fatla on Nov. 13, 1954 in Armstrong Creek.

She was a waitress for many years, a member of the Rose-Harms American Legion Auxiliary in Grafton and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include: husband Anton "Tony" of Grafton; children Randy of Grafton, Ann (Jay) Wissmueller of Grafton, Gary of Grafton, Tammy (Tom) Tanski of Appleton, Jamie (Judi) of Grafton, Amy (Bryan) Quinn of Green Bay, Danny of Grafton and Scot (Michelle) of Grafton; grandchildren Stacy and Adam Fatla of Grafton, Amy and Jaayson Wissmueller of Grafton, Shannon, Amber and Ashley Tamski of Appleton, Jacob, Ben and Emily Fatla of Grafton, Caitlin and Alyson Quinn of Green Bay and Nicholas Fatla of Grafton.

She is further survived by brothers, sisters, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Foundation appreciated.

Geraldine L. Wolff

Geraldine L. Wolff, nee Malchow, 80, of West Bend, formerly of Prescott, Ariz., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa.
She was born June 8, 1920, in Lakefield, Minn., to the late August and Anna Malchow, and on Dec. 3, 1940, married Howard Wolff in Lakefield.

Together they farmed in Middletown Township in Jackson County, Minn., until retiring in 1976 after which they moved to Prescott.

Her husband passed away in 1996, and she moved to West Bend last year to be closer to her son.

She was a member of the American Ev. Lutheran Church in Prescott, and a juried member of the Arizona Water Color Association. Her artwork has been featured in various galleries in Sedona, Ariz.

Gerri is survived by two children, Charles (Jean) Wolff of Kewaskum and Pamela (Dale) Cramer of Redwood Falls, Minn.; six grandchildren, Charlotte (Bob) Martin of West Bend, Scott (Melissa) Wolff of West Bend, Todd S. (Corrine) Wolff of Menomonee Falls, Todd C. (Kelly) Wolff of West Bend, Chad Kamolz of Phoenix, Ariz. and Patrick Kamolz of Redwood Falls, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren, Bryanna, Haylee, Christopher, Richie, Candace, Bobby and Jonathan; special friends, Barbara Lighthart of Richfield and Eleanor Siegel of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were three sisters and five brothers.

Private family services will be held Saturday at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home West Bend.

Rev. Oscar Kraft of Our Saviors Lutheran Church will officiate, and inurnment will be in Veterans National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.

Memorials to the West Bend Art Museum are appreciated by the family.

Frances M. "Fran" Wiedmeyer
Frances M. "Fran" Wiedmeyer, nee Gierlinski, 87, of Hubertus, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born April 26, 1913, in Milwaukee, to the late John and Anna (Kotecki) Gierlinski.

After her marriage to Leo G. Wiedmeyer on June 10, 1930, at St. Mary's of The Hill in Hubertus, the couple lived in Hubertus where she worked the family family farm with her husband.

Later she worked for various places as a baker, including the Fox and Hounds in Hubertus and in the deli at Hansen's Piggly Wiggly in Slinger, retiring in 1983.

Her husband passed away May 26, 1996.

Survivors include five children, Germaine Wagner of Hartford, Vivian (Francis) Whelan of Hartford, Darrell (Arlene) Wiedmeyer of Richfield, Thomas (Patricia) Wiedmeyer of Campbellsport and Judith (Paul) Schuster of Allenton; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a brother, Raymond "Bob" (Frances) Gierlinski of Milwaukee; a sister, Irene (Thomas J.) Aliota of Milwaukee; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were four sisters, four brothers, a grandson, Luke Whelen, and a granddaughter, Sherri Wiedmeyer.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richfield, and the Christian Mother's Society.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Richfield.

Father Charles Hanel will officiate, and interment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials are appreciated to the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center or to the charity of the donor's choice.

The Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger is assisting the family.
