Harlan A. Nickasch
Harlan A. Nickasch, 77, of West Bend, formerly of Appleton, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Appleton, to the late Ruben and Stella (Schultz) Nickasch and graduated from Appleton High School.
He attended the University of Missouri along with naval training in Columbia, Mo., and also attended diesel engineering school in Detroit, Mich.
He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served as a "frogman," now known as the Navy Seals, and was injured in setting a depth charge off Borneo.
Following a stay in a Medford, Ore. hospital, he was discharged on Dec. 15, 1945.
He married Joan L. Liesche the same day at the Camp White post chapel in Medford.
He was employed at the West Bend News, Serigraph Printing and later Kettle Moraine Treatment Center.
He loved to golf and travel, and was a past member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 1398 of West Bend.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Rebecca (Ken) Sarsha of Springfield, Ill., Terrance (Karen) Nickasch of Milwaukee, Cynthia Parulski of Iron Ridge and Kevin Nickasch of West Bend; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dwain Nickasch of Appleton; a sister, Lois (James) Ver Kuielen of Appleton; three sisters-in-law; aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 1, at 3 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend.
Rev. Victor Hackbarth will officiate, and interment will be in Southeastern Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., and also on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Ellen M. Loy
Ellen M. Loy, nee Trueb, 73, of West Bend, formerly of Sauk City-Prairie du Sac, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 1, 1927, in the town of Troy, Sauk County, to the late Louis and Mable (Schneller) Trueb.
After her marriage to Frederick A. Loy on May 31, 1947, in Dubuque, Iowa, the couple lived in the Sauk Prairie area until moving to West Bend after retirement.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Martha Loy of Madison, Marie (Robert) Schultheis of West Bend and Charles (Joanne) Loy of Davie, Fla.; a granddaughter, Dann Marie Loy of Davie, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Franz Wyttenbach of Sauk City; a special friend, Max; a sister, Dorothy (Verne) Peck of Rockford, Ill.; a brother, John (Ardis) Trueb of Lady Lake, Fla.; dear cousins; nieces; nephews; other relatives and special friends.
Preceding her in death were three sisters.
She was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church of West Bend.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Ridge Retirement Community Assembly Room.
Pastor William Dushek will officiate, and cremation will take place at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac with inurnment in Roselawn Memorial Park of Madison.

Peter G. Brumm
Peter G. Brumm, 72, of Cecil, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at the Cedar Lake Home Campus, West Bend.
He was born May 8, 1928, in Hartford, to the late Wendeline and Vina (nee Gehl) Brumm.
Peter served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Cecil American Legion Post 392, the Shawano VFW Post 2723, and the Shawano County 40 & 8 Club.
He was also a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil.
Survivors include a sister, Mickey (Marvin) Husar of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Ann Brumm of Neosho; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, John and William.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford.
Fr. Michael Petrie will officiate, and interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
The family will greet relatives and friends Thursday at the church only from 10 to 11 a.m.

Leroy W. Bruesewitz
Leroy W. Bruesewitz, 72, of Campbellsport, formerly of West Bend, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend.
He was born Nov. 21, 1928, in the town of Farmington, to the late Frank and Minnie (Puestow) Bruesewitz, and served with the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1956.
After his marriage to Gloria M. Barwind on Dec. 14, 1957, the couple lived in West Bend and finally settled in Campbellsport in 1997.
He was an inspector for the Gehl Co. of West Bend for over 34 years, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Scot (Mary Ann) Bruesewitz of West Bend; two grandchildren, Jared and Amanda; a brother-in-law, Harry Barwind of West Bend; two nieces, Linda (Lionel) Remillard of Allenton and Barbara Gary of Chicago, Ill.; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Harold Schneider; two sisters, Dorothy Fabian and Esther Bradley; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Fabian.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Campbellsport and the Hexelbank Club, Gehl's 25-Year Club.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Campbellsport.
Pastor Paul A. Cerny will officiate, and burial will take place in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the church only will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

Mary Peterson
Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 26, at Faith Lutheran Church in Cedarburg for Mary Peterson (nee Jacobs) of Cedarburg, 68, who died on Feb. 23, 2001. Interment was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery Cedarburg. The Mueller Funeral Home of Cedarburg assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Peterson was born on June 9, 1932 to the late Edmund and Gertrude (nee Bahringer) Jacobs. She married Robert Peterson on Dec. 29, 1951 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg.
She was a member of the Cedarburg Woman’s Club and the Peter Wollner American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She worked at the clubhouse at Mee-Kwon Golf Course for over 20 years.
Survivors include: husband Robert Peterson of Cedarburg; children; Mary (Alan) Bert of Cedarburg, Jeannie (Clyde) Pipkorn of Cedarburg, Steve (Joyce) of Germantown, Keith (Yvonne) of Foothills Ranch, Calif.; grandchildren Brian (fiancee Kate) Bert of Arlington, Texas, Kelly (David) Lambrecht of West Bend, Angie Bert of Cedarburg, Joey, Joshua and Jonathan Pipkorn of Cedarburg, Nicholas and Tara Peterson of Foothills Ranch, Calif.; step-grandchildren Andrea and Rachel Culver of Germantown; brothers Richard (Joan) Jacobs of Grafton, Gerald (Joyce) Jacobs of Greendale.
She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Ronald "Tony" Nielsen
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. this evening at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington for Ronald "Tony" Nielsen of Port Washington who died on Feb. 26, at the age of 45. Father Jay Lambert of St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Mequon will officiate at the ceremony. Following cremation, his remains will be buried at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. Visitation will be at the Eernisse Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. today.
He was born Nov. 30, 1955 in Neenah, son of Ronald and Patricia (nee Sanderfoot) Nielsen. On March 24, 1979 he married Debra Edminster in Grafton.
He worked at his family’s business DIMAT Inc. in Cedarburg as a ceramic engineer.
Survivors include: wife Debra; children Sarah, Ronald Jr. and Robert; parents Ronald and Patricia Nielsen of Cedarburg; brothers James (Laurie) of Port Washington, Randall (Janice) of Centerville, Ohio and William (Connie) of Neenah.
He was preceded in death by his sister Laura Jacoby.
