Daniel L. Nelson
Daniel L. Nelson, 30, of Hartford, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Hartford Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1970, in West Bend, to Terry and Gloria (nee Stenberg) Nelson.

After graduating from West Bend East High School in 1988, he became an electrician. He began working at Schnabel Electric and was currently employed at Circle Electric.

He loved hunting, fishing, golfing and playing pool.

Survivors include his parents, Terry and Gloria Nelson of West Bend; a sister, Darlene (Scott) Hall of West Bend; his maternal grandmother, Elaine Stenberg of Taylor; a niece and nephew, Ashley and Derek Hall of West Bend; a special friend, Claudine Beimborn and her children, Danielle Swan and Brittney Beimborn, all of Hartford; aunts; uncles; other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 30, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Bend.

Rev. Terry Berg will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., and at the church on Friday from noon until the time of services.

Alfred C. "Rusty" Stauss
Alfred C. "Rusty" Stauss, 72, of Jackson, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born March 7, 1929, in Mayfield to the late Alfred G. and Alma L. (nee Grob) Stauss, and married Alice L. Liesener on Feb. 27, 1954, at Christ Lutheran Church, Jackson.

Rusty was the owner of Stauss Masonry until retiring in 1988.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Brotherhood, and was also a member of the Jackson Area Business Association for many years.

Rusty is survived by his beloved wife, Alice, and four loving daughters, Linda (Patrick) Cleary and Sandy (Scott) Greve, both of Slinger, and Susan Stauss and Rhonda (Gordon) Bell, both of West Bend.

He is the proud grandfather of Ryan, Jenna, Sean, Brett, Spencer and Leah, and is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, at 6 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Slinger.

Pastor Alan R. Lindberg will officiate, and burial will be Friday in Christ Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be Thursday from 2 to 5:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Threshold or St. Luke Lutheran Church.

The Schmidt Funeral Home of Jackson is serving the family.

John P. "Jay" Van Blarcom IV
John P. "Jay" Van Blarcom IV, 65, of Canyon Lake, Calif., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 21, 2001, in Denver, Colo.

He was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Kewaskum, to the late John P. and Frances M. (Raether) Van Blarcom III.

Survivors include four sons, Dr. Stephen (Jodi) Van Blarcom of Colgate, John P. (Sharon) Van Blarcom V of Waldorf, Md., Michael Van Blarcom of Menomonee Falls and Timothy (Vicki) Van Blarcom of Schofield; his former wife, Phronsie Van Blarcom of Menomonee Falls; seven grandchildren Timothy, Cynthia, Daniel, Michael, Bailey, Katie and Jacob Van Blarcom; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Bruce, and a sister, Leah.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kewaskum, with Father Mark Jones officiating.

Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday.

The Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, is serving the family.

Jessica Lynn Simon Abnet
Jessica Lynn Simon Abnet, 24, of Green Bay, formerly of Campbellsport, died Friday, March 16, 2001, of injuries suffered in a hit-and-run accident in Cocoa Beach, Fla.

She was born on March 12, 1977, in West Bend, to Lester and Shirley (Sauer) Simon, and married Frank M. Abnet on Aug. 19, 2000, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Onalaska.

Jessica attended St. Matthew's Grade School and was a member of St. Matthew's CYO where she performed in numerous CYO plays.

She was a member of the Campbellsport 4-H Club for 10 years, the Fond du Lac County 4-H Ambassadors and Junior Leaders Organization where she held numerous office positions.

Jessica graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1995 and in the summer of 1995 toured Great Britain as a People to People Ambassador.

She graduated from Viterbo College in La Crosse on May 14, 2000, with a double major in business management and human resources, and was employed by Festival Foods.

Survivors include her husband; her parents, Lester and Shirley Simon of Campbellsport; three brothers, Michael and Jeffrey, both of Campbellsport, and Thomas of West Bend; a sister, Lisa of Campbellsport; grandparents, Linus and Florence Simon of Campbellsport, and Clarence and Martha Sauer of St. Kilian; aunts and uncles, James Simon of Campbellsport, Rev. John Simon of Reeseville, Dale and Shelly Simon of Fond du Lac, Ken and Lauri Simon of West Bend, Paul and Jane Simon of Campbellsport, Steve and Ronda Simon of Boerne, Texas, David and Marie Sauer of Campbellsport, and Dan and Sue Sauer of St. Kilian; numerous cousins and friends; her parents-in-law, Deacon Frank and Janet Abnet of Onalaska; a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Abnet; Frank's family, Nancy and Bud Fee, Gertrude Abnet, Beverly Fee, Malcolm and Betty Gilbertson, Bonnie and John Sweeney, Alan and Vickie Gilbertson, Sandra Gilbertson, Levi Gilbertson, Dominick, Simon and Gabriel Sweeney, all of the La Crosse area, and dear friends, Tad and Erin Strittmater.

Jessica is further survived by great aunts and uncles, Benno and Maryanne Miller, Francis Miller, Norbert Broecker, Rita Zehren, Anna Gassner, Leo and Ellenmarie Simon, Felix and Lenarda Hildman, Marion Sauer and Jerome and Doris Mayer.

Preceding her in death were grandparents, Frank and Victoria Abnet.

Jessica will be remembered for her vivacious smile and unlimited energy.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Campbellsport.

Rev. John Simon and Rev. Francis Malloy will concelebrate.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, March 23, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Onalaska, followed by burial in Onalaska City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Jessica Abnet Memorial Fund.

Alois J. Martin
Alois J. Martin, 78, of Neshkoro, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 25, 2001.

He was born Aug. 23, 1922, in the town of Addison, Washington County, to the late Jacob and Anna (Langenecker) Martin.

Alois was a member of St. Antony Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a farmer and had worked at the Kasten Corporation for 15 years.

Alois had been coming to the Neshkoro area since 1978 where he loved nature and fed his deer and birds.

He was a kind, thoughtful, goodhearted man and will be missed by everyone he touched.

Survivors include a sister, Margaret (Louis) Zitzelsberger of Brothertown; a niece, Madlyn (William) Bittner of New Holstein; a nephew, Alois Zitzelsberger of Brothertown; other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 30, at 1 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, Allenton.

Fr. Richard Breitbach will officiate, and burial will be in St. Antony's Catholic Cemetery near Allenton.

Visitation at the church will be Friday from noon until the time of services.

The Wachholz Funeral Home, Montello, is assisting the family.

Helen F. Zimdars

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. this evening at the Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg for Helen F. Zimdars, who died on March 25, 2001, at the age of 91. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Rev. Dale Erickson will officiate at the ceremony. Burial will be at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg. Mueller Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Zimdars was born May 8, 1909 in Milwaukee, daughter of Paul and Clara (nee Priebe) Wiebe. She married Paul Zimdars on June 11, 1932 in Cedarburg. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.

Survivors include: daughters Dorothy Rabener of Cedarburg and Lorraine (Robert) Schmitz of Cedarburg; sister Shirley (George) Kohlwey of Saukville; sister-in-law Myrtle Wiebe of Thiensville; daughter-in-law Erika Zimdars of Cedarburg; son-in-law Walter Baehmann of Mequon.

Further survived by 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, sons Kenneth and Kermit, daughter Lucille Baehmann, son-in-law David Rabener, two brothers and a sister.
