Joseph N. Feider
Joseph N. Feider, Cedar Grove, died unexpectedly on his birthday, April 18, 2001, while visiting home. Since May, 2000 he had resided at the Sheboygan Progressive Care Center in Sheboygan.

He was born April 18, 1929, in the town of Holland, to the late Joseph P. and Helen (Laures) Feider, and attended St. Nicholas Grade School in Dacada.

After graduating from Random Lake High School in 1947, he worked with his parents' farming, cattle trucking and meat processing business.

On June 21, 1952, he married Elaine S. Schueller of the town of Belgium at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Dacada.

Mr. Feider was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Random Lake, and the former St. Nicholas Parish of Dacada. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 2035, Catholic Order of Foresters Court 1592, Catholic Knights Branch 164, the Luxembourg Society of Wisconsin and the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau.

In his parish he had served as a lector, Eucharistic minister and choir member.

Mr. Feider was a former member of the Wisconsin Independent Livestock Dealers Association, Wisconsin Contract Carriers Association and the Sheboygan County NFO.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary and Daniel of Cedar Grove; three daughters, Susan (Jack) Feider Kelly of West Allis, Doris (Gary)Feider-Schlenvogt or Port Washington and Rita (Jeff) Horstmeier of Dacada; 10 grandchildren, Jaclyn, Kaitlin and Sean Kelly, Joseph, Nic, Jacob and Alexia Horstmeier, Julie (Michael) Brey, Paul and Roberta Schlenvogt; two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Natalie Brey; three brothers, Anthony (Loretta) of Cedar Grove, Francis (Sharon) of Plymouth and James of Cedar Grove; four sisters, Dolores (Oscar) Schmidt of Lake Church, Helen (the late Ray) Schultz of Mequon, Margaret (the late Marvin) Mueller of Newton and Mary Ann (Joseph) Kirklewski of Grafton; five sisters-in-law, Lucille (the late Dr. Arnold) Feider of Sheboygan, Marian (the late Elmer) Feider of Milwaukee, Marcella (the late Wilmer) Feider of New Holstein, Beata (the late Kenneth) Schueller of Belgium and Nadine (Donald) Seubert of Menomonee Falls; many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were three sisters, Sr. Mary Helen Feider and infants, Bernice and Leona Feider; an infant brother, Robert Feider; and his stepmother, Anna Laures Feider.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, April 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Chapel in Dacada.

Fr. Richard Cerpich, pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, will be the celebrant, and burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Dacada.

Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium, from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, with a parish vigil at 7 p.m., and on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Lakes Education Endowment Fund, the Random Lake Area Interfaith Food Pantry or the Random Lake Fire Department Ambulance.

Evelyn M. Garbutt
Evelyn M. Garbutt, nee Shaffer, 85, a resident of Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

She was born in Hazelhurst, Wis. on July 31, 1915 to the late Charles and Abrie (nee Krupp) Shaffer.

After high school she moved to Milwaukee and attended business school. She then became a professional secretary at Cornell/St. Regis Paper Co. in Milwaukee until her retirement in 1972. She also had been a member of the Professional Secretaries Association since 1951.

Evelyn was married to Horace Garbutt on Aug. 1, 1975 at the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend. Together they lived in Milwaukee and Sarasota, Fla., while spending summers on Little Cedar Lake, West Bend. Horace preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1983.

She is survived by her stepdaughter Sandra (James) Ramsthal of West Bend; two step-grandchildren, Bob Ramsthal and Beth Ramsthal, both of West Bend; a sister Jane Shaffer of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Ruth Godsell of Whitefish Bay; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Jack.

Memorial services for Evelyn will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association are appreciated by the family.

Dr. James A. Weiss
Dr. James A. Weiss, 58, of Scranton, Pa., died Monday, March 26, 2001, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center following transplant surgery.

He was a graduate of West Bend High School, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a doctorate degree in chemistry from Penn State University.

Dr. Weiss had been a professor of chemistry at Penn State University in Scranton.

Survivors include his wife, Paula; a son, James and daughter, Catherine of Scranton; a brother, Arnold of Virginia; and his stepmother, Clara Weiss of Kewaskum.

Other survivors include Marie (Orville) Strachota, Marguerite Baumgartner, Kathryn Merriam and Joseph (Maybelle) Weiss, all of West Bend.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Arnold and Constance Weiss.

Funeral services were held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Scranton.

Paul Allen Schumacher, Sr.

Paul Allen Schumacher, Sr., 50, of West Bend, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2001.
He was the beloved father of Paul Allen Jr., David and Mark Schumacher; brother of Shirley (Rodney) Wagner, Marlene (Jim) Mundt, Donna (Tom) Tomashek, Marvin (Marlene), Harold (Carol), Kenneth (Annette) and Wayne (Audrey) Schumacher.

He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 26, at 6 p.m. at Valhalla Memorial Gardens Chapel, 5402 N. 91st St., Milwaukee.

The Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services, Milwaukee, is assisting the family.

Marie M. Mueller

Marie M. Mueller, nee Gundrum, 84, of Nabob, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend.
She was born April 21, 1917, in the town of Addison, to the late Albert and Anna (nee Stoffel) Gundrum.

After her marriage to Theodore J. Mueller on May 8, 1940 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Allenton, the couple settled on a farm in the town of Addison. Together they farmed until retiring and moving to Nabob.

Marie loved crocheting and quilting and was also an avid sheepshead player.

Her husband passed away Sept. 26, 1999.

Survivors include seven children, Ted (Bernice) of West Bend, Anna Reinders of Lomira, David (Chris) of West Bend, Beverly (Steve) Styve of St. Petersburg, Fla., LaVern (Gene) Kauper of Hartford, Bonnie (Donald) Yogerst of Richfield and Dorothy (Harry) Bitz of Milwaukee; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a son, Pfc. Robert on April 25, 1966, in Vietnam; a great-grandson, Mikey Wolfram; three sisters; and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, at 9:45 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthias Chapel, Nabob.

Father Alois VanBeek will be the presider, and burial will follow in St. Matthias Cemetery,

Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m.,and also on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the 9:45 a.m. prayer service.

Memorials would be appreciated.

Lester R. Zielicke
Lester R. Zielicke, 72, of Boltonville, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2001, at the Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center in Sheboygan.

He was born March 29, 1929, in Boltonville, to the late Alvin and Ida (Marquardt) Zielicke, and on Feb. 3, 1951, married Joyce Cotter at St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Michaels.

His wife passed away on Feb. 25, 1998.

Mr. Zielicke was employed by Bolens in Port Washington, retiring in 1991 after 44 years of service.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Zielicke of Boltonville; three grandsons, Chris Zielicke of West Bend, Anthony and Justin Zielicke, both of Boltonville; a sister, Dorothy Zemlicka of Milwaukee; stepbrothers; stepsisters; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at the Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum.

Father James Strupp will officiate, and burial will be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday in the Boltonville Union Cemetery, Boltonville.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Diane Dewane

Diane Dewane, 67, of the town of Kewaskum, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2001, at the Hartford Care Center in Hartford.
She was born Dec. 25, 1933, in Racine, to the late J. Dewey and Marion (Cooper) Christensen, and on Aug. 29, 1959, married Charles K. Dewane in California.

He passed away on July 18, 1998.

Mrs. Dewane was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.

She was a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing, and was employed for 18 years by Hartford Memorial Hospital, Hartford, as a surgical nurse.

Survivors include three children, Patrick Dewane of Beaver Dam, Julie (Randy) Dewane Schwantes of Barrington, Ill. and Lynn Dewane of West Bend; three grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel Gilane and Kelly Schwantes; a brother, David Christensen of Racine; a sister, Colleen Christensen of Racine; other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at 6 p.m. at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, town of Wayne.

Father Mark Jones and Father Elroy Pesch will concelebrate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4 p.m until the time of services

Memorials to the charity of the donor's choice are appreciated.

The Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, is serving the family.
