Katherine E. Guske
Katherine E. Guske, 88, a resident of the Cedar Lake Campuses, West Bend, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

She was born Jan. 5, 1913, in Milwaukee, to the late Andres and Elizabeth (Boschek) Wahn, and married Walter Guske in 1930 in Milwaukee.

She had been employed with Children's Hospital in Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Journal and for many years with Sears Roebuck, retiring from Sears in 1980.

She and her husband lived at Cedar Lake since 1973.

Her husband passed away in 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, June (Rev. Harold) Hein of South Elgin, Ill.; granddaughters, Karen (Alan) Teal of Germantown, Tenn., Deborah (Dr. Michael) Masoncup of St. Charles Ill. and Christel (Russel) Tabler of Carrollton, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Bethany Teal of Germantown, Tenn., Meredith and David Masoncup of St. Charles; and other relatives and friends.

Katherine, faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was a loving servant of Christ, and a member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church, Hartford.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 27, at Divine Savior Lutheran Church, Hartford.

Rev. Thomas Feiertag will officiate, and interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

Visitation at the church will be Friday from noon to 2 p.m.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford, is serving the family.

Harold J. "Babe" Gromacki
Harold J. "Babe" Gromacki, 78, formerly of Jackson, was born to eternal life on Friday, April 20, 2001.

He was the beloved husband of the late LaVerne "Trudy;" loving father of Cheryl (Len) Conley, Gregg (Diane) and Dianne (Don) Merkel; proud grandfather of Tamatha (Mark) Engholm, Robyn (Eric) Hammes, James (Judi) Greenup, Carie (Craig) Everson, Thomas, Angie, David and Katie Merkel; and brother-in-law of Donald (Rogene) Trudell, Ruth Gromacki and Don Schablow.

He is further survived by seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Ray and Al; a sister, Beverly; and a sister-in-law, Marian.

Harold served in Europe during World War II as part of the 357 Search Light Battalion.

A funeral Mass was held Wednesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, Milwaukee, with interment in Wisconsin Memorial Park.

The Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Service, Wauwatosa, assisted the family.

Dorothy Mae Ottosen
Dorothy Mae Ottosen, nee Lowery, 72, of Richfield, entered into eternal life on Monday, April 23, 2001, at Virginia Highlands Nursing Home, Germantown, surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born April 28, 1928, in Texas, to Russel and Maude Lowery, and on Nov. 12, 1946, married George H. Ottosen.

Together they owned the Double O Tavern in Richfield which they operated successfully for many years.

Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her husband; her mother, Maude Lowery of Texas; three daughters, Mary (Wayne) Erickson of Fond du Lac, Christine (Edward) Kincaid of Seattle, Wash. and Karen Feagin of Texas; four sons, Steven (Dolly) Ottosen of Menomonee Falls, Charles (Vicki) Ottosen of Lake Mills, Pat Ottosen of Richfield, Michael Ottosen of Alvin; 23 grandchildren, Travis and Tonya Erickson, Linda Solberg, Michael and Dale DuPree, Michelle and Michael Thompson, Kelly, Kim and Shawn Schultz, Michael Jr., Angie and Nicholas Ottosen, Kevin Jubeck, Jesse and Elizabeth Ottosen, Denny, Tim, Rhonda, Donna, Mike, Andy and Jeff Ottosen; many great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marian (John) Grasse of Mequon; a long-time friend, Mary Ellen Ottosen of Pewaukee; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her father, Russel Lowery; two brothers, Neil and Bud Lowery; three sons, George Ottosen Jr., Robert Ottosen and Joseph Ottosen; and a daughter, Linda Ottosen.

Memorial services for all who knew and loved her will be held Saturday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend, with Father James Strupp officiating.

Dorothy should be remembered as a compassionate and charitable woman with a warm heart and an open hand.

Special thanks is given to Virginia Highlands Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice, both of Germantown, for providing our loved one with comfort and outstanding care.

Sylvester F. "Tiny" Terlinden

Sylvester F. "Tiny" Terlinden, 83, a lifelong resident of Kewaskum, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.
He was born Dec. 2, 1917, in Kewaskum, to the late Albert and Mathilda (Wehling) Terlinden, and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 94th Division.

Tiny was a member of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384, Kewaskum, and Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.

Tiny was a talented musician who had three orchestras, playing organ every Friday night at Hon-E-Kor Country Club in Kewaskum for 19 years, and on Saturday nights at the Glacier Inn in Kewaskum for eight years.

He was a member of the Musicians Union and was employed by Miller's Furniture Store in Kewaskum for many years.

Survivors include a sister, LaVerne "Tudy" (Henry) Becker of Kewaskum; a step-niece, Gladys Seefeldt of West Bend; a nephew, James Becker of Kewaskum; a niece, Judy Becker of Brookfield; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Ione Terlinden.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27, at 7 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ, Kewaskum.

Rev. Eric Kirkegaard will officiate, and burial with military graveside rites will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Peace United Church of Christ Cemetery, Kewaskum.

Friends may call at the church on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

The Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, is serving the family.

Joseph F. Banovich

Joseph F. Banovich, 87, of West Bend, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
He was born June 30, 1913, in Milwaukee, to the late Stefan and Anna (nee Fischer) Banovich and married Lorraine Huber on Nov. 28, 1935, at St. Michael's Church, Milwaukee.

Joseph was employed at Cutler-Hammer in Milwaukee for over 40 years, retiring in 1975.

He cherished the time spent at Little Cedar Lake during the summers for many years, and in the early 1970s the couple moved from Milwaukee to live at the lake year round.

Later the couple moved to the Park Place condominiums where they enjoyed living for several years.

His wife passed away on April 7, 1991.

Joseph was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, and the Knights of Columbus Father Casper Rehrl Council 1964 in West Bend. He was also a former member of the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge.

He was very competitive and was always a good sport. He loved baseball and was an amateur and semi-pro umpire for many years.

Joseph also enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, horseshoes and playing cards.

He was a good storyteller and his grandchildren loved to listen to his stories.

Joseph cherished his friendships and enjoyed hosting social activities. He was dearly loved by his family and all the friends who met him.

Survivors include two children, James (Jacqueline) Banovich of West Bend and Susan (Kenneth) Oxendorf of Spring Hill, Fla.; eight grandchildren, James (Sandy) Banovich, Patricia (Douglas) Delashmutt, Kathryn (Kenneth) Gassner, Stefan Banovich, Amy Banovich, Sandy (Joseph) Polito, Eric Oxendorf, and Susan (Herb) Parsons; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew Banovich, Christopher Banovich, Kaitlyn Banovich, Allyson Banovich, James Siegel, Angela Zurn and Meghan Schuster; two sisters, Anna Goosen of Manitowoc and Mary Leffingwell of Milwaukee; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Eva Jelak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 30 at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend.

Rev. Gerald Brittain will be the presider and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until the vigil service at 7 p.m. and on Monday from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Henry N. Krell

Henry N. Krell, 75, of Ripon, formerly of the West Bend area, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Michalene's Nursing Home, Ripon.
He was born Aug. 9, 1925, in the town of Trenton, to the late Henry and Margaret (nee Habersetzer) Krell.

Henry was employed at the former Gilson Foundry in Port Washington. He then became acquainted with Bob and Kathleen Nehm, working for them on their farm in the town of West Bend. For the past number of years, Henry had been living in Ripon.

Survivors include four nieces and nephews, Robert (Jean) Krell of West Bend, William (Char) Krell of Newburg, Mary (Ken) Kudek of Kewaskum and Marjie (Pat) Gadzinski of Manitowoc; dear friends, Robert and Kathleen Nehm of Ripon; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, William and Theobald.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27, at 7 p.m., at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend.

Fr. Gerald Brittain of Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, will officiate, and burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, town of Farmington.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
