Viola Agnes Hughes
Viola Agnes Hughes, Mountain, Wis., born July 21, 1908 born again in Spring 1973, was caled home to the Lord, June 28, 2000. Surviviors include three daughters, Sherell Trentin, Marinette; Virginia Loyd Maul, Oconto; Joycelyn John Repavich, Tucson, AZ; three sons, Don Joan Dergin, Muskego; Tom Hughes, Mountain; TEd Carol Lee Hughes, Racine; sister, Bernice Pagel, Milwaukee; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchilren. she was preceded in dath by her husband, Earl; daughter, Nancy; son, Gary; one grandndughter; one grandson; one daughter-in-law, two sons-in-law; and two brothers. Visitation was held on saturday, July 1, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Northwoods Bible Fellowship Church, Lakewood. Funeral services followed at noon with Pastors Scott Van Laanen adn Dennis Larson officiating. Interment at the Mountain Cemetery. Phyllis M. Urbanek
Phyllis M. Urbanek, 72, of Lena died unexpectedly Saturday, July 1, 2000 at community Memorial Hospital Oconto Falls. She was born to the late George and Christine Urbanek Gering January 22, 1929 in Lena. Phyllis worked 31 years at the spruce School as custodian. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church Lena where she was a member of the Ladies Aid in her early years. She is survived by her husband, Emil 'Smokie'; 1 son, Lon Urbanek, Lena; I daughter, JoAnn Bob Trepanier, Green Bay; 2 granddaughters, Misti and Stacey Trepanier both of Green Bay; 2 brothers, George, Jr. Eileen, Missouri; Melvin June, Crivitz; 2 sisters, Joyce Al Fenske, Green Bay; relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by and infant daughter, Cleo, and 1 sister, Helen Fuller/Lyons. Friends called at the Rhodes-Charapata Funderal Home, Lena Monday, July 3, 2000 from 9-11:30 AM. Funeral service was held at 12:00 PM at Our savior Lutheran Church, Lena, with Pastor Ryan Landwehr officiating. Interment at Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce.
Lucille Belongia
Lucille M. Heroux Belongia, 86, 100 Park Ave., Oconto, passed away June 22, 2000 at Oconto Memorial Hospital. Lucille was born February 18, 1914 at Oconto to the late Edward and Mary Hazen Heroux. She married Wilton Belongia October 12, 1935. Lucille was a member of Holy Trinity Parish lifelong member at St. Peters and St. Anne Society. She was an avid card player and loved to crochet. Survivors include her husband, Wilton, of 65 years; two daughters, Patricia Ray Detaege of Green Bay and Helen Belongia of Green Bay; one brother, Mike Elaine Heroux of Oconto; one granddaughter, Becki Detaege of DePere; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cecil Heroux of Peshtigo, Alfred Dutch Zimmerman of Oconto, Conrad Gen Sylvester of Suamico, Delores Kaster of Green Bay, Pearl Bauers of Kenosha, Vester Gertrude Belongia of Oconto, Rosemary Belongia of Kenosha, Eldon Larson of Bloomington, MN, Faye Schultz of Rochester, MN, Edna Belongia of Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was held at the Gallagher Funeral Home in Oconto from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Friday with St. Anne Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Wake Service at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Peter's Site, with Rev. David C. Ruby officiating. Burial at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for the Holy Trinity Parish New Church Building Fund.
Doris Larson
Doris Larson, 71, 8732 Hwy 41, Oconto, passed away unexpectedly June 21, 2000 at Bay Area Medical Center. Doris was born June 22, 1928 at Oconto to the late Adolph and Frances Faust Janssen. She married Malcolm Larson on November 3, 1951. The couple operated a dairy farm all their lives in the Town of Little River. Malcolm preceded her in death on February 22, 1998. Doris was a cook at Holy Trinity School for 23 years. She was Town Treasurer for the Town of Little River and was a proof reader for the Oconto County Reporter. She enjoyed her Bridge Club and Sewing Club and was a member of the Catholic Knights and Holy Trinity Parish. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Mike Wos of Oconto; three sons, Thomas Beth Larson of Lena, Gerald Debbie Larson of Oconto and Roger Marlene Larson of Menominee, MI; one sister, Elaine Earl Theabo of Red Granite; one sister-in-law, Celia Janssen of Rothschild; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Lawrence and Clayton. Visitation was held at the Gallagher Funeral Home in Oconto from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Joseph Site, with Rev. David C. Ruby officiating. Burial at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
Alfred G. Delzer
Alfred G. Delzer, 77, of Abrams died Friday, June 23, 2000 in Green Bay. Alfred was born March 29, 1933 in Morgan to the late Hugo and Ella Retzlaff Delzer. He married Lois Brendemehl. She preceded him in death April 6, 1994. He owned and operated a Dairy Farm for 35 years. He collected and restored old tractors. Also he loved music and played the accordian and guitar. Alfred was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Abrams. Alfred is survived by two daughters Patti John Adamski, Shawano; Susan Darrell Cwiak, Green Bay; four brothers Otto Delzer, Oconto Falls, Hugo Betty Delzer Jr., Oconto; Herald Beryl Delzer, Sampson; George Joan Delzer, Sampson; two sisters Anita Hansen, Flintfield; Dorothy Petka, North Chase; and four grandchildren. Alfred is preceded in death by his wife Lois and twin infant daughters Joyce and Janet. The family received relatives and friends at the GHallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 9 P.M. Monday, June 26, and again on Tuesday from 10-11 A.M. at Calvary Lutheran Church, Abrams. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at church with Rev. Alan Klessig officiating and burial at Riverside Cemetery.
Donald Okray
Donald Okray, age 68, Logan Road, Suring, formerly of Brookfield died unexpectedly June 25, 2000. He was born March 9, 1932 in Brown County to the late John and Helen Okray. Don married Beverly Albert November 20, 1954 and the couple lived in Brookfield until he retired as a siding applicator in 1996 and moved to Suring. He enjoyed visiting with his many friends and liked to do woodworking. Survivors include his wife Beverly of Suring, his 2 sons and their families. Scott Kari Okray of Sussex, Brad Patty Okray of Brookfield. Also survived by brothers, sisters, and many other relatives and friends. Don had 4 grandchildren, Chad, Andrea, Carissa and Taylor. He is reunited in peace with Taylor who preceded him in death. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, June 30, 2000 at Pinelawn Cemetery Chapel from 10:00 A.M. until Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. The Gruetzmacher Funeral Home of Suring is in charge of arrangements.
Lucille Coffey
Lucille Coffey, 93, Oconto Falled, died Thursday morning, June 22, 2000, at Sharpe Care, Ltd. She was born Aug. 19, 1906, in Bonduel, to August and Amanda Bleck Runge. She graduated from Gillett High School with the Class of 1925 and went on to attend teacher's training in Shawano. Following graduation from teacher training, Lucille taught elementary school at Sohr School in rural Bonduel for four years. She later taught in the communities of Shawano, Angelica and Gillett. On June 20, 1936, she married Robert Coffey in Oconto Falls. Lucille lived in the Oconto Falls area for most of her life and was a longtime member of Immanual Lutheran Church, Gillett and the Oconto County Homemakers. Survivors are two nieces, Jeanne Gary Braun, Oconto Falls; Sue Dan Larson, Superior, Wis.; her great-nieces and nephews, Marc Karen Braun and their children, Abigail and twin sons, Ethan and Evan, all of Shawano; Stacy Brett Lucht and their daughter, Natalie, Oshkosh; Gina Braun, Madison; Greg Braun, Oconto Falls; Carley Larson, Superior; a special niece, Thalia John Shimmon, Green Bay. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Coffey in 1968; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle and Merton Wagner and Margaret and Maurice Lindsay. Friends called at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls after 2 p.m. Sunday until the time of services. Funeral 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Deacon Ralph Beversdorf officiating. Burial in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
William (Bill) Cleven
William Bill Cleven, 39, of Gillett, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in a Madison Hospital. The son of David Cleven and the late Ruth (Van Lanen) Cleven was born July 22, 1960, in Green Bay. He was a graduate of Seymour High School. Bill worked at Packerland Packing Company for 12 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his father, David; two children, Trista and Nathan Cleven; his fiancee, Flo Buffalo and her children, Michelle, Michael, Richard and Corey Buffum; his six siblings and their spouses, Cynthia (David) Boreen, Green Bay; Diane Gary Stephani, Waukesha; Bonnie James Worlund, Green Bay; Keith Judy Cleven, Cedarburg; Christian Cleven and his fiancee Darcy, Oneida; Jason Cleven and his special friend Kerren, Menominee, Mich.; nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Cleven. Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home, 305 North Tenth St., De Pere, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday today. Parish prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oneida, after 9:30 a.m. Thursday until time of service. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. George Lenzer officiating. Burial to follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, DePere.
