Aileen E. Schoedel

Aileen E. Schoedel, nee Monroe, 78, of West Bend, formerly of Milwaukee and Mt. Morris, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
She was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Pennsylvania, to the late George and Bertha (Sullinger) Monroe, and at an early age moved to Milwaukee.

After her marriage to Stanley A. Schoedel on July 6, 1968, in Milwaukee, the couple lived in Milwaukee.

She was employed as a secretary at G.E. of Milwaukee, retiring from General Electric and moving to Mt. Morris and later to West Bend in 1978.

Her husband passed away on May 7, 2001.

Survivors include her special niece, Christine (Thomas) Hurst of Georgetown, Colo.; special nephews, Daniel (Jane) Glowacki of Waukesha, Michael (Kathleen) Glowacki of Castle Rock, Colo., and Bill Drees of Milwaukee; and on Stanley's side, two brothers-in-law, Donald (Bernice) Schoedel of Shawano and Roger (Jane) Schoedel of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Karen (Leo) Trepes of Crivitz and Kathleen (Robert) Butcher of Mission, Texas; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her death were four sisters and two brothers.

Aileen was a member of Mt. Morris Holden Lutheran Church of Wautoma and a member of Sisters of Pythias-Purity Temple 26 of Milwaukee.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, at 11:30 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Pastor David N. Schoob will officiate, and interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials are appreciated to the Mt. Morris Holden Church, ELCA, of Wautoma.

E.W. "Mel" Guse
E.W. "Mel" Guse, 97, a longtime resident of Jackson, died on Monday, June 11, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.

He was born Dec. 9, 1903, in Medina, N.Y., to the late Rev. Herman and Anna (nee Meyer) Guse.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Ron (Chris) Rose; grandchildren, Robert (Judy) Guse, Vicki Guse, Cindy (Robert) Stib, Wendy (Don) Thompson Laurie (Kevin) Hickey and James (Carolynn Weggen; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren two sisters, Loretta Albrecht and Evelyn Larsen and a brother, Carl Guse. He was also the fond neighbor of Mark, Stacey, Abby and Alicia Frasse.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Anita (nee Prahl), and two children, Robert Guse and Carol Rose.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton, with Rev. John Suelflow officiating.

Visitation at the church will be Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.

The family has asked that memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton.

The Mueller Funeral Home of Grafton is assisting the family.

Keith E. Topel
Keith E. Topel, 59, of West Bend, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at his residence.

He was born May 21, 1942, in Milwaukee, to the late Earl and Lauretta (nee Lange) Topel, and at the age of 5 moved with his family to Newburg.

After his marriage to Judith Habeck on Sept. 15, 1962, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Newburg, the couple moved to West Bend.

Keith was an employee of the Gehl Co. in West Bend.

He was a former member of the West Bend Chapter of the Harley-Davidson Owner's Group (H.O.G.) and the Boltonville Bunch Snowmobile Club, and was a member of the Farmington Historical Society and Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Bend.

Keith also enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Scott (Jayne) Topel of Kewaskum, Shelly Rowe of Petal, Miss. and Skip (Christine) Topel of West Bend; seven grandchildren, Todd Topel, Kayla Topel, Cory Rowe, Alyssa Rowe, Devin Rowe, Amanda Topel and Kimberly Topel; two sisters, Jan (Ted) Rogne of West Bend and Phyllis (Steve) Voeks of Smithville, Mo.; a brother, Neil (Karen) Topel of Montello; his father-in-law, Merton Habeck of Riverview, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Sally (Richard) Mielke of Campbellsport; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, at 7 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend.

Rev. Oscar Kraft of Our Savior's Lutheran Church will officiate, and burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Jean C. Ponfil

Cedarburg resident Jean C. Ponfil, 72, died at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg June 11, 2001.
Services will be held Thursday, June 14 at Mueller Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. She will be intered at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.

The Crivitz native was born to Leonard and Hazel (Sandborn) Lohff on Oct. 12, 1928.

She married Paul Ponfil Aug. 29, 1953 in Crivitz.

She was a member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon.

Survivors include her husband Paul of Cedarburg, her son Scott (Jean) of Grafton, her daughter Melissa (Michael) Sheveland of Grafton, grandchildren Jamie and Cody Sheveland of Grafton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Betty L. Weber

A memorial service will be held for Betty L. Weber, 74, of West Bend Saturday, June 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Chapel in Watertown.
She passed away June 11, 2001 at Marquardt Memorial Manor in Watertown.

The former Betty L. Lorenz was born April 18, 1927 in Milwaukee to Harry A. and Marie (Hummer) Lorenz. She married Russell Weber in Wauwatosa June 7, 1947.

Mrs. Lorenz was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend.

Prior to her illness, she was active in many community organizations.

Survivors include husband Russell of West Bend; her children Cindy (Lance) Clenard of Illinois, John (Pam) Weber of Thiensville and Cathy (Phil) Neidner of Watertown; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister Jessie Ladewig of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; one brother-in-law John Townsend of Ontanogan, Mich.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The service will be held at Bethany Chapel at Marquart Memorial Manor located at 1020 Hill St. in Watertown. Memorials to the Marquardt Memorial Manor Foundation would be appreciated.

The Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

James W. Dewitz

James W. Dewitz, 50, of Iron Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Hartford Memorial Hospital, Hartford.
He was born March 9, 1951, in Fond du Lac, to Walter and Marcella (nee Franke) Dewitz, and married Bonnie Legate on June 29, 1984, at the Capitol Building in Madison.

Jim graduated from Horicon High School in 1969, and worked for International Stamping in Hartford for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Melanie (Leon) Stratman of Jackson, Joshua Dewitz of Juneau and Angel Legate of Barton; four grandchildren, Mekenzie and Noah Stratman, Juliya Dewitz and Isaiah Legate; his parents, Walter and Marcella Dewitz; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Legate of Mayville; two sisters, Sandi (Larry) Kohrt of Mayville and Jean (Rich) Binkus of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Joe (Pat) Dornacker of Hartford and Rod (Terry) Legate of Jackson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, and a nephew, Travis.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, at 12:30 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, with Rev. Ron Pinc officiating.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Willard W. Justman
Willard W. Justman, 84, of West Bend, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center.

Our deeply beloved Willard has peacefully passed away from this life to the next.

He has been greatly loved by his late wife, Eleanor (nee Kurz), whom he married June 29, 1940, in Milwaukee; the Zebrowskis, Joy, Cliff, David, Jennifer, Kaeleigh, Claire and Alexandra, Jeffrey, Susan, Jonathan, Jeffrey and Angela; the Justmans, Wayne, Dawn, Christy, Jaimi and Ethan; sisters-in-law, Jean Eidler, Esther (James) Cronin and Alice Detloff and their families.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Anna (nee Gruenweller) Justman; a brother, Larry (Maxine) Justman and a sister, Ruth (Al) Reinhardt.

At Willard's request, private family services were held.

The family requests memorials be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.
