Lillian E. Hernickle
Lillian E. Hernickle, nee Timm-Twachtmann, 89, of West Bend, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center.

She was born on March 2, 1912, in Kellner, to the late Rudolph and Augusta (nee Oelke) Timm, and the family moved to West Bend in 1919.

Lillian married Joseph Hernickle on April 18, 1942, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend. He passed away on May 7, 1995.

Lillian was employed by Amity Leather Products for 17 years.

She was an active member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, the St. John's Ladies Aid and was also a member of the North Trenton Homemakers for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Joanne (Thomas) Faber of West Bend and Darlene Hynek of Luxemburg, Wis.; five granddaughters, Rhonda (Steven) Olsen of Chesterfield, Mich., Tammy (Douglas) Towne of West Bend, Angie Jonet of Green Bay, Tanya Van Pay and Waye Ann Hynek, both of Luxemburg; four great-grandchildren, Nicolle Towne, Tyler Towne, Adam Van Pay and Jocelyn Van Pay; two sisters, Esther (Clarence) Horbogen of Loves Park, Ill. and Sylvia Kinney of West Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, Sigfried (Laura) Twachtmann of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Timm of West Bend and Katherine (Walter) Dunst of Kingman, Ariz.; two brothers-in-law, John (Marie) Hernikl of West Bend and Andrew (Bernice) Hernikl of Tomahawk; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were three sisters, Louisa Timm, Clara Chapman and Amanda Buck, and a brother, William Timm.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend.

Rev. Cal Seban and Rev. George Mumm will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the church will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or the ALS Foundation are appreciated.

The Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the caring, concerned staff on the fourth floor of the Samaritan Health Center for the care Lillian received there.

LaVonne E. Holladay
LaVonne E. Holladay, nee Rudoll, 60, of West Bend, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Rockford, Ill., to the late Chester and Louise (nee Betley) Rudoll, and married John E. Holladay Jr. in Corinth, Miss.

LaVonne was a secretary at Fair Park School, Joint District 1 in West Bend. During her 30 years of service there, she touched the lives of many students as well as other staff members.

Even after her retirement in 1998, she was admired by all those with whom she shared her kindness and laughter.

She will always be loved and never forgotten.

Survivors include a son, John III (Sandy) Holladay of Beach Bluff, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Kevin and Brittany Green of Beach Bluff; a sister, Cynthia Olgelvie of Rockford, Ill.; a niece, Sherry (Mitch) Hayes of Lexington, Tenn.; three great-nieces and nephews, Tad, Emily and Elizabeth Hayes; the world's dearest friends, Dave and Jan King and their family, of West Bend, all of whom were very dear to her .

She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a sister, Karen Thornton, and a nephew, Tad Thornton.

A memorial service will be held Monday, June 18, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Cremation will take place at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.

Howard W. "Hawkeye" Hawkins
Howard W. "Hawkeye" Hawkins, 81, of West Bend, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at his home.

He was born March 1, 1920, in Glenside, Pa., to the late Walter and Frances (nee Stuhltrager) Hawkins.

He served in the U.S. Army for four years during World War II, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

Shortly after his discharge in 1945, he moved to Tulsa, Okla. where he graduated from Tulsa University with a degree in physical education.

While in Tulsa, he met and married Jennie Lou Brookshier on Dec. 2, 1945.

Howard was employed as a sales agent in the motor freight industry until retiring in 1980.

In 1968 the family came to West Bend.

After his retirement, Howard was a demonstrator at various supermarkets in the West Bend area, and also served as a volunteer mail clerk, delivering the mail to patients at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls.

His wife passed away on May 23, 1994.

Howard was a very active member of Sociable Singles, was a member of the Wet Bend Lions Club, and a former member of the Free & Accepted Masons.

Survivors include five children, Harriet (Warren) Udelson of Oak Park, Ill., Marilyn (Craig) Bower of Cottage Grove, Ken (Carol) of Norfolk, Va., John (Rev. Laura) of Rosendale and Kevin (Paulette) of Omaha, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; five sisters, Helen (the late Ernie) Yost of Silverdale, Pa., Jean (the late Lee) Dreisbach of Huntington Valley, Pa., Nancy Gowen of Warminster, Pa., Janice (Earle) Geiger of Glenside, Pa. and Marylou Platt of North Wales, Pa.; two brothers, George (Lee) of Glenside and Robert of Coopersburg, Pa.; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a brother, John (Margaret).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, West Bend, with Rev. Laura Hawkins and Rev. William Dushek co-officiating.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Hawkins home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Memorial Fund at Community Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 408, Menomonee Falls, 53052-0408.

The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

Dorothy Petersen Daniels
Dorothy Petersen Daniels, nee Nelson, 81, of Hartford, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2001.

She was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Jameston, N.D., to Eilert and Mary (nee Adams) Nelson, and married Albert Petersen. He passed away in 1992.

On June 16, 1995, she married Leo "Smiley" Daniels at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford.

Dorothy was a member of Hartford Senior Friends and St. Kilian Church.

Survivors include her husband; two children, Diane (Al) Pongratz of Shawnee, Okla. and Rod (Pat) Petersen of Slinger; two stepchildren, Michael Daniels of Hartford and Mary (Peter) Reilly of Elm Grove; six grandchildren, Terri (Alan) Pawlak of Milwaukee, John (Judy) Pongratz of North Carolina, Jerry (Donna) Pongratz of Texas, Ryan (Stephanie) Petersen of Minnesota Eric Petersen of West Bend and Kelly Petersen of Slinger; two step-grandchildren, Katie and Jay; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers; sisters; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 16 at noon at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford. with Fr. Michael Petrie officiating.

Visitation at the church only will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until noon.

Memorials to the Hartford Fire Department or the charity of the donor's choice are appreciated.

The Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family.

Wilma H. Leffingwell
Wilma H. Leffingwell, 77, a resident of the Edgewater Haven Nursing Home, Port Edwards, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Riverview Hospital.

She was born April 26, 1924, in West Bend, to the late William and Elsie (Benicke) Maas.

Survivors include a son, Curtis J. (Barbara Rae) of Shorewood; a daughter, Anne Marie Leffingwell of Wisconsin Dells; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 20, at 4 p.m. at Holy Angels Cemetery, West Bend

The Higgins Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, is assisting the family.

Richard L. Reysen
Richard L. Reysen, 53, of Adell, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee, where he had been a patient since Tuesday after suffering a stroke.

He was born March 3, 1948, in Sheboygan, to Laura (Luedtke) Reysen and the late Orlin Reysen.

He attended Beechwood Grade School and graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1966.

Richard worked at Gehl Co. in West Bend for 35 years and at the same time worked for Jim Pankow Construction in Plymouth for the past 16 years.

On Nov. 21, 1970, he married Agnes "Mike" Fellenz at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Scott.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Scott, and the Hexalbank Club for 25 years at Gehl Co.

Richard loved to use his hands to build and design many items. He was a very loving and caring individual.

Survivors include a daughter, Becky Reysen, at home; a brother, John (JoAnn) Reysen of Fredonia; a sister, Candice Reysen and her husband, Roger Uttech of Beechwood; his mother, Laura Reysen of Beechwood; five nephews, Chris (Theresa) Reysen of Greenbush, Jason (Jacky) Reysen of Green Lake, Nathan Reysen of Milwaukee, Noah Reysen of Fredonia and Ryan Uttech of Beechwood; two nieces, Meghan Reysen of Fredonia and Courtney Uttech of Beechwood; two great-nieces, Hannah and Abigail Reysen of Greenbush; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 17, at 7 p.m. at the Suchon Funeral Home, Plymouth.

Rev. William Robinson, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Scott, will officiate, and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 p.m. until the time of services.

A memorial fund is being established in his name.
