Walter F. "Bud" Dickmann

Walter F. "Bud" Dickmann, 81, of West Bend died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 3, 1919, in Noonan, N.D., to the late Theodore Sr. and Meta (nee Hetebrueg) Dickmann, and moved with his family to West Bend the following year.

Upon graduating from West Bend High School in 1937, he began working at the Gehl Co. until enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He attained the rank of staff sergeant and proudly served as a reconnaissance map maker during World War II in the Pacific Theater, based at Pearl Harbor.

On June 5, 1947, he married Betty J. Lochen, his beloved wife of more than 54 years, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend.

Bud retired from the Gehl Co. in 1984 after 47 years of service in the purchasing department.

He was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and the Hexelbank Club of Gehl Co. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, West Bend Lodge 1398, the Milwaukee Association of Purchasing Management Inc. and was on the board of directors of the West Bend Blood Center, where he was a record blood donor.

Bud was an avid reader, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He was a champion marksman in the Marine Corps and at the Barton Sportsman's Club. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Diane (Kenneth A.) Troedel of West Bend and John (Jeanne) of Bremerton, Wash.; three cherished grandchildren, Aaron and Adam Troedel and Sarah Dickmann; in-laws, Ora Dickmann and Ollie "Bud" and Lucy Lochen; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Theodore Jr. and a sister, Henrietta.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 28, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Fr. Jeffrey Haines will officiate, and interment of ashes will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Blood Center Research Foundation or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The family would like to express their thanks to the many friends and relatives who visited, prayed and assisted in Bud's care.

Special thanks to Dr. Robert Gibson, Dr. Marjorie Vukelich, and the caring staff at Kettle Moraine Oncology, the Outpatient Services nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital and the kind and gentle staff of Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice.

LaVerne E. Fischer

LaVerne E. Fischer, nee Meiller, 79, of West Bend was born to eternal life on Sunday, June 24, 2001.

She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence; loving mother of Keith (Rebecca) and Pamela (Jeffrey) Mueller; loving grandmother of Amy (Lee) Libecki, Branden and Zachary Fischer, Aaron and Christopher Mueller; dear sister of Beatrice (William) Moresco and Robert (Helen) Boralski. She is further survived by a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, at 7 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church (Pleasant Valley Road), Jackson, with interment in the church cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association are appreciated.

The Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg, is assisting the family.

Troy R. Silah
Troy R. Silah, 25, of West Bend, died Monday,June 25, 2001, in Milwaukee after a long struggle with cancer.

He was born on May 2, 1976, in Madison, to Richard M. and Patricia (nee Sonnenberg) Silah. He moved with his family to California in 1977, and to West Bend in 1988.

Troy graduated from West Bend East High School in 1994, and from Moraine Park Technical College in 1998.

At the time of his death he had been employed as a computer consultant for Whittman-Hart Computer Consulting in Milwaukee. Troy had also been employed at the Kettle Moraine YMCA from age 16 until last August.

Survivors include his parents, Richard M. Silah and Patricia Silah, both of Milwaukee; two brothers, Adam and Christopher, both of Milwaukee; his girlfriend, Jennifer Schlefke of West Bend; aunts and uncles, John and Karen Silah and Gary and Mary Silah, all of Fond du Lac, Robert and Ann Galle of Menasha, Paige and Janice Borchart of Racine, Michael and Kay Gannon of Fort Collins, Colo.; his step-grandparents, Myron "Doc" and Mary Lou Bartelt of Fond du Lac, and Lori Sonnenberg of Fond du Lac; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Marvin and Marion Sonnenberg, and his paternal grandparents, Richard P. and Helen Silah.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church., West Bend.

Rev. Joseph Fisher will officiate, and cremation will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park, Milwaukee.

Visitation at the church only will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to the Kettle Moraine YMCA are appreciated.

Alfred "Wimpy" Prochnow
Alfred "Wimpy" Prochnow, 74, of Campbellsport died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

He was born July 8, 1926, in Wausau to the the late Arthur and Ella (Bahr) Prochnow, and married Jeanette Rauch on March 17, 1951, in Dundee.

He was a truck driver for Olsen Trucking, Superior Trucking, Kloke Readi Mix, and Precision Metals.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Campbellsport.

Wimpy enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Dale (Bonnie), Kenneth (Delores) and Ronald, all of Campbellsport, Barbara (Melvin) Ruplinger of West Bend, Richard (Kriss), Donna (Tom) Toth, Robert (special friend Deb), Randall (special friend Lori) and Allen, all of Campbellsport; nine grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Carol) of Wausau; a sister-in-law, Delores Prochnow of Wausau and a special friend, Joyce Tucker.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Franklin.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, June 29 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Campbellsport.

Rev. Paul Cerny will officiate, and burial will follow in Elmore Cemetery.

Visitation at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials are appreciated.

Helen L. Frank, 76

Helen L. Frank, nee Radschlag, of Hartford passed away Friday, June 29, 2001 at the St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee. She was 76 years old.

She was born October 26, 1924 in Hartford to Albert and Clara Radschlag. She married Wilmer Frank on June 1, 1946 at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartford.

Helen was a member of Peace Lutheran church and the Hartford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a past volunteer for Hartford Memorial Hospital Hospital Transportation.

She is survived by three children, Glenn (Janet) of Hartford, Gloria (Gene) Derge of West Bend, and Donna (Ed) Grant of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Eric Derge (fiance, Bridget), Angela Derge (fiance, Jon), Jodi Ehmke, and Juli Ehmke; a brother, Robert (Evelyn) Radschlag of Hartford; a brother-in-law, Dale (Violet) Frank of Eden; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Frank of West Bend.

Helen is further survived by Bruce Ehmke, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer in 1994.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 1 at 7 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Hartford with Rev. Daniel Westendorf officiating.

Visitation at the church only, on Sunday from 4-7 p.m.

Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

Winifred Huber, 77

Winifred Huber, nee Kuhm, 77, of West Bend, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community hospital.

Win was born on Sept. 15, 1923, in Milwaukee, to the late Dr. Herbert W. and Frieda (nee Sprenger) Kuhm.

She attended Wauwatosa High School, and in 1946 graduated from the former Milwaukee State Teachers College (presently the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) with a degree in primary education.

She taught in the Milwaukee Public School system, tutoring children with long-term chronic illnesses in their homes.

On June 21, 1947, she married Joseph F. Huber at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wauwatosa.

Win was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, the Christian Women's Confraternity, the Parish Library Commission, a 50-year member of the West Bend Women's Club, the Book Review Luncheon Club, the Wisconsin and Washington County Historical Societies, a charter member of the Bailey-Matthew Shell Museum in Sanibel, Fla. and the Campanila Society of the Milwaukee Archdiocese.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Joseph J. (Linda) of Sun Prairie, John M. (Susan) of Milwaukee, Lisa K. (William) Johnson of Madison and David J. (fiancee Kathy Zima) of Green Bay; six grandchildren, Scott J. (Kelly) Huber of Milwaukee, Atty. Kate R. Huber (Joseph Freihammer) of Astoria, N.Y., Amanda Huber of Dahab, Egypt, Annake M. Huber of Milwaukee and Laura and Daniel Johnson, both of Madison; a sister, Jordyce (Laurence) Hyink of San Mateo, Calif.; special family member, Lucille Kuhm of Milwaukee; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (due to the remodeling project at St. Frances Cabrini Church).

Fr. Michael Petersen will be the presider, and entombment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m., and also Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be given to St. Frances Cabrini School, the Parish Building Fund, Columns Scholarship Foundation for Technical Education or the charity of one's choice.

Win's family is grateful for the excellent tender care of the ICU team and the Hospice team at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
