Clarence O. Albinger, 87

Clarence O. Albinger, 87, of Saukville, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on the family farm in the town of Saukville on Feb. 9, 1914, to the late Henry and Margaret (Meyer) Albinger.

He joined the U.S. Army during World War II and served in Australia, New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan.

After his discharge, he returned home and started working as a mechanic at his twin brother's auto dealership in Saukville.

On June 22, 1946, he married Marie F. Schaeffer at St. Michael's Church in St. Michaels.

He continued working as a mechanic at Albinger Automotive until six months ago.

Clarence was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Saukville, American Legion Landt-Thiel Post 470, Waubeka VFW Flag Day Post, Catholic Knights and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include his wife; their children, Janet (Rick) Durante of Cecil, Gilbert (the late Terry) of Port Washington and Donald (Holly Roge) Albinger of New Berlin; seven grandchildren; a sister, Doris (Ray) Thelen of Plymouth; a brother, Lawrence (Marian) Albinger of the town of Saukville; a sister-in-law, Helen Albinger of Saukville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many, many dear friends.

Preceding him in death was his twin brother, Paul.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Saukville.

Father Karl Acker will officiate, and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Saukville.

Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.

An American Legion service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a parish vigil at 7 p.m.

Leland J. "Shorty" Sullivan

Leland J. "Shorty" Sullivan, 85, of Jackson died on Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Care Center.

He was born on June 7, 1916, to Michael (Angeline Arbeck) Sullivan in Iron Belt, Wis. He married Mayme J. Tarro on Feb. 7, 1942 at Montreal, Wis.

He was raised in Iron Belt. He was a graduate of Iron Belt High School, class of 1934. After service with the U.S. Army in World War II, he was a miner for Montreal Mining Co. of Montreal for 20 years. He then worked for U.W.M. as an engineer for more than 10 years and retired in 1977.

He was a member of Disabled Veterans of America of WWII and St. Frances Cabrini Church of West Bend.

He is survived by three daughters, Marianne (Elroy) Widhammer of Jackson, Kathleen Sullivan of Jackson and Sharon (John) Styba of Clancy, Mont; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Olive Savell of Shreveport, La., and Gloria (Earl) Brackett of Pence. Wisc.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife on Sept. 30, 1996; seven brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with Father Nicholas Widhammer officiating. Interment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials are appreciated.

Jason A. Russell
Jason A. Russell of Neosho passed away Friday, June 29, 2001 at the age of 21 as a result of a traffic accident in the town of Merton.

He was born May 16, 1980, in Milwaukee, the son of Kenneth and Deborah (nee Presti) Russell. He is survived by his parents; sister, Jessica Russell of Neosho; grandparents, Donald and Leona Russell of Colorado, and Emil and Beatrice Presti of Glenbulah; his great-grandfather, Charles Wesely Siggelkow of Withee, Wisc.; aunts,; uncles; other family members and many friends.

Jason was a graduate of Hartford Union High School, class of 1999. He worked at Balax Industries in North Lake and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in West Bend.

Visitation will be today from 4-7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 120 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Bishop Ralph Bound will officiate. Interment will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home of Hartford is serving the family.

Eugene A."Gene" Roos

Eugene A."Gene" Roos, 49, of West Bend died Saturday, June 30, 2001 at Hartford Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 26, 1952, to David (Edna Gitter) Roos in West Bend. He married Donna J. Kempf on Sept. 9, 1972 at Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church of West Bend.

He was raised in West Bend and attended West Bend East High School, graduating with the class of 1971. He then served in the U.S. Army National Guard during the Vietnam era. After marriage, the couple lived in West Bend. He was employed at Red Owl of West Bend for 10 years and later at Hansen’s Piggly Wiggly of Slinger for more than 21 years as the produce manager.

He was the track coach for Silverbrook Middle School in West Bend for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife; parents, David and Edna Roos of West Bend; two daughters, Wendy (Michael) Park of Richardson, Texas, and Sherry (fiance Nathan Downhour) Roos of West Bend; grandson-to-be Aaron Michael Park; one sister, Patricia (James) Redig of Kewaskum; special family pet, "Jesse"; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with Rev. Joseph M. Fisher officiating. Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend. Visitation will be at Phillip Funeral home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials are appreciated.

Edna C. Roos

Edna C. Roos, nee Gitter, 73, of West Bend, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

She was born Dec. 21, 1927, in the town of Wayne, to the late Joseph and Kungunda (nee Schraufnagel) Gitter, and married David F. Roos on Nov. 19, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Allenton.

She was employed at Amity Leather in West Bend for 15 years, and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Patricia (James) Redig of Kewaskum; a daughter-in-law, Donna Roos of West Bend; five grandchildren, Steven (Jan) Redig and Amy Redig, both of West Bend, Brian (fiancee Molly White) Redig of Fond du Lac, Wendy (Michael) Park of Richardson, Texas and Sherry (fiance Nathan Downhour) Roos of West Bend; a brother, Benno (Lorraine) Gitter of West Bend; three sisters-in-law, Rita Gitter and Evelyn Gitter, both of Milwaukee and Lou Gitter of Grafton; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a son, Eugene, and five brothers, Arnold, Felix, Alvin, Roman and Clem.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish, West Bend (due to construction at Holy Angels Church).

Rev. John Wutscheck will be the presider, and burial will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish will be Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services.

The Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, is assisting the family.

Victor E. Mayer
Victor E. Mayer of Alexandria, Minn., formerly of Barton, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria Minn. at the age 101.

He was born in Alexandria on July 28, 1899, to the late John and Christine (nee Johnson) Mayer. At an early age he moved with his family to a farm on Lake Mary just outside of Alexandria.

In 1923, he was married to his childhood sweetheart, Lillian Anderson. They moved to Chicago, Ill., and Victor started working for the Chicago North Western Railroad. He started as a freight clerk and then became a tour conductor from Chicago to several national parks.

In 1930, they moved to Barton where he became the station depot agent until 1960. From 1960 until his retirement in 1962 he was the station agent in Lincoln Park, Ill. After retiring, Victor and Lillian moved back to Lake Mary. She preceded him in death in 1968.

He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend and a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria.

He is survived by two children, Eugene (Aurelia Walker) Mayer of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Delores (Frank Mrazik) Kilby of West Bend; four grandchildren, Debbi (Chuck) Myrhum of West Bend, Dori (Dean) Hagstrom of Tempe, Ariz., Dawn (Mike) Petri of Kewaskum and Denell Staral of West Bend; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Elfie Mayer, one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Minn. Rev. Russell Osterberg will officiate and burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

Kenneth E. Klein
Kenneth E. Klein of Deerfield Beach. Fla., 77, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at North Broward Medical Center.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1924 to Edwin (Laura "Luella" Brennicke) Klein in Oakfield. He married Ruth E. Menger on April 29, 1967, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

He was raised in Oakfield and moved to West Bend in 1935. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was the owner and operator of Kirby Vacuums of West Bend and later Deerfield Beach since 1967.

He was a member of The American Legion, D.A.V. and V.F.M.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, of 34 years; four children, Kenneth Klein of Greensville, S.C., Karen Dunlap of Theresa, Korrinne Fate of Austin, Minn. and Kevin (Faye) of Granton, Wisc.; two step-children, Vernon (Jean) Rauch of West Bend and Sheri (Ron) Brooks of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Willard (Burnette) Klein of Kewaskum; one sister, Maryalyce (Walter) Rathke of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Melvin Klein of West Bend (killed in action in Korea in 1951).

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with Pastor Jon Baumann officiating, of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Newburg. Interment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park of West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home only on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
