Lillian Banaszak

Lillian Banaszak (nee Shimek) of Milwaukee, formerly of West Bend, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Wisconsin Lutheran Care Center in Milwaukee at the age of 98.

She was born on May 15, 1903, in Milladore to the late Joseph and Helen (nee Janousek) Shimek and was married to Clarence Kranenburg on Sept. 25, 1933 in Rockford, Ill.

They moved to West Bend where they owned and operated the Kranenburg Meat market. They also owned the Kranenburg Meat Store in Saukville. In 1939, Lillian and Clarence moved to Silver Lake. They retired and closed the meat market in 1964.

Clarence preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1967. Lillian was then married to Leonard Banaszak and they moved to Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 1979. She then married Alexander Nagy in 1989. He also preceded her in death in 1998.

Lillian was a former member of Eastern Star West Bend Chapter #73.

She is survived by a niece, Barbara (Jon) O’Mara of Boston, Mass.; and a nephew, Buster (Pauline) Shimek of Menomonee Falls; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Shimek.

Visitation will be Thursday at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with graveside services to follow at Washington County Memorial Park.

Mr. Edwin J. Amerling

Mr. Edwin J. Amerling, 97, of St. Kilian passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 29, 2001, at Mapledale Manor in Kewaskum.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1903, in the town of Wayne, the son of the late John and Magdalena (Kudek) Amerling, and on June 14, 1938, he was united in marriage to Rosemarie Boegel at St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian.

His wife preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1989.

Edwin farmed in the town of Wayne his entire life until 1995 when he moved to Mapledale Manor. He was a member of St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian, Holy Name Society, a Catholic Knights member for more than 75 years and a past member of AMPI.

Survivors include two sons, John (Anne) Amerling of Allenton and Richard (Sandra) Amerling of St. Kilian; two daughters, May (Lawrence) Fleischman of Lomira and Patricia (Richard) Schmidt of Kewaskum; a brother, Arnold Amerling of Kewaskum; 11 grandchildren, Charon (Stan) Schaefer, Joan (Dan) Laine, Steve (Bobbijo) Amerling, Colleen (Lee) Fink, Yvonne (Kyle) Abrahamsen, Michael (Carrie) Amerling, Gary (Stacy) Fleischman, Carey (Jeff) Eiselt, Sarah (Jeff) Harbridge, Tamara Schmidt and Samuel Schmidt; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Kathryn Werner, Sophia Petri, Agnes Hawig and Priscilla Kozslowski.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian following a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Father Victor Kemmer will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home today where a prayer vigil will be held at 8 p.m.

Janice D. Loeffler

A funeral service was held on Sunday, July 1, at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg for Janice D. Loeffler, who died on June 29, 2001, at the age of 66.
Rev. Wilmer Reichmann officiated at the evening service. Burial was held at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. Mueller Funeral Home of Cedarburg assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Loeffler was born May 19, 1935, in Watertown to the late Carl and Dorothy (nee Jaehrling) Hobus. She married James Loeffler in Watertown on Oct. 8, 1955. They moved to Grafton and have resided there for the past 12 years. She was an avid traveler and was also very active in the Cedarburg community. She was a member of the Cedarburg Woman’s Club, participated in the meals on wheels program, and was part of the Cedarburg Homemakers. She was also a member of the Gossling Girls of Watertown.

Survivors include: husband Jim Loeffler of Grafton; children Brian (Patty) of Grafton, Jeff (Kimberly) of Plover; grandchildren Ben, Mike and Tim, all of Grafton; Christopher and Jessica of Plover; sister Carla (Gene) Pettit of Fairfax, Va.

She is further survived by sister-in-law Elaine Iffland of Oconomowoc, brother-in-law Curtis (Sally) Loeffler of Lake Mills, other relatives and friends.

Memorials can be made to the First Immanuel Lutheran Church Organ Fund.

Ralph E. Krueger

A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday July 3, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg, for Ralph E. Krueger, 73, who died on June 30, 2001.
Entombment was at Resurrection Cemetery. Mueller Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Krueger was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 26, 1927, the son of the late Alvin and Rosella (nee Mueller) Krueger. He married Delores Schmidt on Oct. 27, 1950. Krueger worked as an engineer with the railroad. He also served in the Navy and the Army.

Survivors include: wife Delores; children Ralph (fiancee Diana), Kathleen (David) Hartwig, Joanne (Mark) Marschke, Michael (Penny), Carol (Terry) Johnson, Christine (Jerry) Kresse, Barbara (James) Clavette and Gerald; brother Robert Krueger; sisters Henrietta (Edward) Schamber and Lorraine (Harold) Gilman; sister-in-law Joyce Krueger; 18 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Memorials to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church are appreciated.

Bernice Ten Haken

Bernice Ten Haken, 87, a resident of Pine Haven Christian Home, died Wednesday evening, July 4, 2001.
Bernice was born April 19, 1914, in the town of Holland to Henry and Jennie Hesselink Ebbers.

She was a graduate of Wisconsin Memorial Academy, class of 1930 and later attended Sheboygan Teachers College.

On June 24, 1937, she married Rev. Reuben Ten Haken in Hingham Reformed Church. Rev. Ten Haken preceded her in death in 1987.

Bernice was a teacher for many years and taught at Horace Mann School and Random Lake Public Schools until her retirement in 1976. She was also a missionary, faithfully serving with her husband, in various mission fields.

Bernice was a member of Hingham Reformed Church as well as The Sheboygan County Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly (Dale) Heinen of Kiel and Mary Elizabeth "Beth" (Larry) Spoerl of West Bend; two sons, Robert (Betty) Ten Haken of Plymouth and Bruce (Kathleen) Ten Haken of Holland Mich.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Chester (Bertha) Ten Haken of Sheboygan Falls; a sister-in-law, Lillian (William) Joosse of Sheboygan Falls; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Rueben, Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Hingham Reformed Church with family services at 2:45 p.m. Rev. Steven J. Bakker will officiate. Burial will take place in the Hingham Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home of Oostburg Sunday evening from 4-8 p.m. and on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of service at Hingham Reformed Church.

A memorial fund has been established in Bernice’s name.

James A. Marshall

James A. Marshall of Tamarac, Fla., formerly of West Bend, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at University Hospital in Tamarac at the age of 77.
He was born on March 31, 1924 in Tacoma, Wash. to the late Walter and Marie (nee Hardtke) Marshall and married Mary Joyce Kalt on April 13, 1946 in Wauwatosa.

Joyce preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 1999.

After their marriage, they settled in the Milwaukee area. In 1960, they moved to a farm near West Bend where they lived until moving to Tamarac in 1983. James worked at A.O. Smith for many years until his retirement.

James was a member of the Adrian Neubauer Post #8658 V.F. W. and the Lt. Ray Dickop Post #36 American Legion where he was a past Post-Commander and adjutant. He was past commander of the Washington County American Legion Council and was active in the legion and their conventions.

Survivors include three children, John (Linda) of Ogema, Jane (David) Bath of Newburg and James W. (Diana) of Rib Lake; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Marshall, Michael Marshall, David L. (Traci) Bath, Cynthia (Mark) Waraksa, Crystal Marshall, Tracy Marshall and James A. Marshall; two great-grandchildren, Kyle Bath and Lauren Joyce Waraksa; a brother, Robert (Marilee) Marshall of Arizona; a sister-in-law, LaJune Volmer of West Allis; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday form 10 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with graveside Military Tires at Washington County Memorial Park at 1 p.m.

Edward H. Schnorenberg

Edward H. Schnorenberg of St. Lawrence passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at the Hartford Memorial Hospital. He was 85.
He was born Dec. 21,1915, in Hartford to Edward and Anna (nee Held) Schnorenberg. He married Marie Limbach on Sept. 27, 1941 at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, Hubertus.

Ed was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He was an implement dealer mechanic at St. Lawrence Garage for many years. He retired from International Stamping after nine years of service. He was a volunteer firefighter for the St. Lawrence Fire Department for more than 60 years. His service included being fire chief for more than 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, three daughters, Judy of Slinger, Jo Ann (John) Kovach of Texas and Jean (Mike) Briggs of West Bend; five grandchildren, Martin, Nick, Michelle, Jacqueline and Stephanie; three brothers, Robert (Frances) of West Bend, Clarence (Mildred) of Hartford and Ralph (Nancy of Hartford; two sisters, Irene Esser and Mary Ann (Oliver) Funk, both of Hartford; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey, a granddaughter, Gwendolyn,; parents; three brothers, James, William and John; a sister-in-law, Hilaria Schnorenberg and a brother-in-law, Norman Esser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father Alois Can Beek officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends today at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, from 4-8 p.m. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:45 p.m. Interment will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery.

The Shimon Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Leonard H. Redinger

Leonard H. Redinger of Slinger died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital at the age of 62.
He was born on Jan. 20, 1939, in Tappen, N.D., to the late William and Rachel (nee Wittmier) Redinger.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, and moved to West Bend in 1960. Leonard was united in marriage to Anna Vorpahl-Berndt on April 20, 1990, in West Bend. They moved to Slinger in 1996.

He was employed as a truck driver for moving companies and had been employed fro many years at Chips Express Moving and Storage in West Bend. Leonard also delivered the Journal/Sentinel in the town of West Bend for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; four step-children, Penny (Bob) Fichtner of Richfield, Kelly (Dawn) Berndt of Kewaskum, Brett (Ann) Berndt of West Bend and Todd (fiancee Debra Krajewski) Berndt of Campbellsport; five step-grandchildren, Krystal, Misty, Austin, Steffanie and Hannah; two sisters, Virginia Kamoni of James Town, N.D. and Marlene Piatz of Clinton, Iowa; three brothers, Jim (Diane) Redinger of Fruitdale, S.D., Don (Carol) Redinger of Two Rivers and Larry Redinger of Milwaukee; other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Monday at 4 p.m. at the Myrhum Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. Rev. David Cooper and Rev. James Castillo of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Slinger will co-officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
