Mary Margaret Barfknecht
Mary Margaret Barfknecht, nee Leonhard, 70, of Ladysmith, died Friday, July 20, 2001, in Marshfield.
She was born May 15, 1931, in Tony, Wis., to the late George and Jessie Leonhard, and married Ronald Barfknecht on May 8, 1952, in Ladysmith.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, John of Richmond, Va., Michael (Judy) of Ladysmith, Scott (Jill) of Green Bay; daughters, Peggy Novak of Ladysmith, Joan (Jerry) Williams) of West Bend, Julie (Chuck) Wiltrout of Goose Creek, S.C., Amy (Jim) Woelfer of Ladysmith, Ronda (Jerry) Brooks of Moundsview, Minn., Connie (Ed) Stoll of Ladysmith and Susan (Randy) Schlewitz of Ladysmith; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Dorothy) Leonhard of Sycamore, Ill., Thomas (Betty) Leonhard of West Point, Miss. and George (Mary) Leonhard of Wausau; sisters, Jane Laub of Holman, Jean Doughty of Ladysmith, Helen (Ed) Swanson of DeForest and Judie (Gary) Kunkel of Ladysmith; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was a brother, Jim.
She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
Mary was very active in the life of her family. Her humor, guidance, and love will be long remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
Fr. John Anderson officiated, and burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Ladysmith.
The Nash-Jackan Funeral Home, Ladysmith, assisted the family.
Marlene A. Oswald
Marlene A. Oswald, nee Ritter, 47, of Slinger, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at the Hartford Care Center, Hartford.
She was born Dec. 10, 1953, in Hartford, to Douglas and Mary Ann (Radermacher) Ritter and graduated from Hartford High School in 1972.
She later received her associate degree from the University of Wisconsin Washington County and continued with a year of schooling at Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Milwaukee.
After her marriage to Dennis G. Oswald on Oct. 1, 1977 at St. Kilian's Catholic Church, Hartford, the couple lived in the Slinger area.
She was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Milwaukee as an LPN and later worked at Sage Nursing Home, Milwaukee. Most recently she was a receptionist for Dr. James Algiers of Hartford.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Michael of Slinger; her mother,Mary Ann Ritter of Hartford; her mother-in-law, Laura Oswald of Richfield; a sister, Julie (Dan) Hawkins of Hartford; two brothers, Dave (fiancee Tina Dickmann) Ritter and Jerry Ritter, both of Hartford; and on Dennis' side, four sisters-in-law, Elaine Oswald of Richfield, Carol (Harold) Murphy and Sharon (Jerry) Remillard, both of West Bend and Terry (Jeffrey) Hamilton of Richfield; two brothers-in-law, Harold (Phyllis) Oswald of Richfield and Dean (Jeany) Oswald of Hartford; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her father, Douglas; her father-in-law, Frank Oswald; and two brothers, Thomas and Jeffrey Ritter.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Slinger, past member of the Christian Mother's Society and past member of the Hartford City Band.
Closing of the casket prayers will be Wednesday, July 25, at 9:30 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, Slinger, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Slinger.
Fr. Robert J. Bales will officiate, and interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Slinger.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 8 p.m.
Memorials are appreciated to The Huntingon's Disease Society of America.
Geneva M. Voeltz
Geneva M. Voeltz, nee Zwieg, 85, of Clintonville, formerly of West Bend and Mayville, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Pine Manor Health Care Center, Clintonville.
She was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Mayville, to the late William and Martha (nee Steinke) Zwieg, and graduated from Mayville High School in 1933.
After her marriage to Seymour A. Voeltz on Aug. 28, 1935 in Waukesha, the couple lived in the Mayville area. She later lived in West Bend.
She was a factory worker for Lomira Shoe Co. and Maysteel of Mayville, retiring in the late 1960s.
Her husband passed away on Oct. 27, 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene (John) Gishkowsky of Shawano and Jan (Dan) Hersant of West Bend; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Voeltz of 29 Palms, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, Stacey, Charles, Jon, Kyle and Shannon; four great-grandchildren, Megan, Brittany, Cody and Nicholas; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude "Gertie" Zwieg of Mayville and Sylvia Zwieg of Lansing, Mich.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was a son, Roy.
She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, West Bend.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, at 4 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, West Bend.
Pastor Joseph M. Fisher will officiate, and interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Mayville, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m

Christine R. "Mickey" Kimla
Christine R. "Mickey" Kimla, nee Korneli, 70, of Newburg, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at the Mequon Care Center.
She was born on Dec. 25, 1930, in the town of Trenton to the late John and Anna (nee Schmid) Korneli, and on Oct. 18, 1952, married Eugene F. Kimla at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg.
Mickey was a lifelong resident of the Newburg area.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jed of Newburg; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Korneli of West Bend, Anita Korneli of Princeton and Gina (Art) Helm of Saukville; a brother-in-law, Jerome (Mert) Kimla of Saukville; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a son, Gene on Sept. 27, 1999; three brothers, George, Albert and Theodore; and three sisters, Priscilla Korneli, Louise Fahney and Margaret Fahney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 23, at 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg.
Fr. Robert Sampon will be the presider, and burial will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the parish cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of the Mass.

Wayne A. Schmidt
Wayne A. Schmidt, 60, of Allenton, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2001, at home with his family at his side.
He was born in Hartford to the late Aurelius and Florence (nee Pope) Schmidt, and married Shirley Roemer on Oct. 22, 1970 in Waukegan, Ill.
Wayne worked at Briggs and Stratton for 29 years.
He played tuba for many years and was a member of the Concertina Club and Nubby's Dots.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Dawn Schmidt of Las Vegas, Nev., Pam Schmidt of West Bend, Jeanette (Scott) Meissner of Slinger and Carolyn (Douglas) Duernberger of West Bend; three sons, Jim (Cheryl) of Iron Ridge, Keith (Susan) of Neosho and Randy (Holly) of Hartford; 11 grandchildren, Keri, Stacy, Dustin and Ashley Schmidt, Sarah Schmidt, Jason Schmidt, Kyle, Ryan and Brandon Meissner, Shayla and Sadee Duernberger; a sister, Arlene (Bob) Lincoln of Riverside, Calif.; a brother, Benny (Connie) Schmidt of West Allis; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a son, Raymond, and a sister, Elvira (James) Weiss.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, at 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford.
Rev. James Castillo will officiate, and interment will be Thursday at 10:15 a.m. in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sylvia J. Bloecher
Sylvia J. Bloecher, nee Didier, 85, of West Bend, died on Monday, July 23, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center.
She was born Nov. 21, 1916, in Decada to the late Hubert and Mary (nee Mumm) Didier.
Following her marriage to Edgar A. Bloecher on Nov. 23, 1935, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newburg, the couple settled on a farm in the town of Saukville. In 1963 they moved to Farmington and continued farming there.
Her husband passed away on Dec. 2, 1981. In 1983 Sylvia came to West Bend.
Survivors include a son, William of West Bend; two grandchildren, Annette Wenzel of Wauwatosa and Evea (Ron) Kind of West Bend; a grandson-in-law, Mark Wenzel of Milwaukee; two great-grandchildren, Scottie and Jimmy Wenzel; five sisters, Rose Lang of West Bend, Florence Bartolli of Milwaukee, Leona Kaker of Port Washington, Germaine Bowe of Wauwatosa and Dolores Bowe of Sheboygan; two brothers, Roman Didier and Edward (Laura) Didier, both of Port Washington; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Ruth Heidemann; two brothers, Leonard and Victor; and three sisters, Esther Pawley, Verna Paddock and Marcella Craig.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, at 3 p.m. at John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newburg.
Rev. Jon Baumann will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Friday from 1 to 2:45 p.m.
