Fred Kraatz

Funeral services were held for Mr. Fred Kraatz on Monday, Aug. 13 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton. Visitation was held at the funeral home from 1-3 p.m. Rev. John Suelflow of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church officiated.
Kraatz died peacefully at his home in Grafton on Aug. 9, 2001 at the age of 81.

He was born on Nov. 21, 1919, son of the late Fred Kraatz Sr. He later married Ilma (nee Kaul) on May 8, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton. He was a decorated World War II veteran and was a member of the Rose-Harms Post #355 of Grafton. He was also a veteran of foreign wars.

He is survived by his wife Ilma (nee Kaul) of Grafton; children Steve Kraatz of Milwaukee and Yvonne (Robert) Breul of Milwaukee; grandchildren Chris Breul of Milwaukee and Jen (Shannon) Decker of Milwaukee.

He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

John F. "Jack" Bert

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church for John F. "Jack" Bert, 74, of Cedarburg, who died on Aug. 14, 2001 at St. Mary’s Ozaukee Hospital.
Visitation will be at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg on Friday, Aug. 17 from 4-8 p.m. with a parish vigil at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Bert was born in Milwaukee on March 28, 1927, the son of the late Elmer and Marian (nee Renner) Bert. He married Rita (nee Nack) on Oct. 7, 1950 in Milwaukee. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He is a retiree from Rockwell Automation of Mequon.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of more than 50 years, Rita of Cedarburg; children John R. "Jack" (Sandy) Bert of Indiana polis, Mary Jo (Jim) Fuhry of Bayside, Maxine (Jack) Biskobing of West Bend, Anne (Don) Wick of West Bend and Margaret Bert of Boulder, Colo.; grandchildren Angela Bert of Indiana polis, Nick Fuhry of Richfield, Erica Fuhry of Bayside, Marcus Biskobing of West Bend, Brian and Karen Wick of West Bend; brother-in-law Roland (Harriet) Nack of Jackson; sisters-in-law Joanne O’Brien of West Allis and Marian Martiny of Citrus Springs, Fla.

He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

The Mueller Funeral Home is assisting the family.

William E. "Bil" Boyer

William E. "Bil" Boyer was born to Eternal Life on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 201, in Downers Grove, Ill., at the age of 67.
He was born in Milwaukee.

He is the loving father of Gene (Mary), Bob (Cheryl), Sheri (Marc) LePine, John and Tom (Jenny); proud grandfather of Stephanie, Beth Anne, Hannah, Josh, Ryan and Brittnay; dear brother of Jeaninne Powers; special and caring friend of Mary; further remembered by nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday at Three Holy Women Catholic Parish-Holy Rosary Church, 2011 N. Oakland Ave., Milwaukee, from 9 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. There will be a private inurnment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated.

The Schmidt & Bartelt, Funeral and Cremation Services, Wauwatosa, (41) 774-5010 is serving the family.

Hazel B. Wisnefske
Hazel B. Wisnefske (nee Metz) of West Bend died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at the Home Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira at the age of 95.

She was born Sept. 15, 1905, in Shiocton, to the late Alvin and Margaret (nee Kling) Metz and married Walter Wisnefske. Walter precedes her in death.

Survivors include one son, Donald (Violet) of West Bend and six grandchildren, Gloria (Don) SearVogel of Ogdensberg, Marilyn (David) Kasten of West Bend, Greg (Linda) Wisnefske of Lomira, Donna (Paul) Kogler, Mike (Heidi) Wisnefske and Jackie Olson, all of West Bend; 20 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Alliet; and two brothers, Claude and Harland.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with Rev. Victor Hackbarth officiating. Burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from noon until the time of services.

Arthur C. Paul

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg for Arthur C. Paul, 73, who died Aug. 16, 2001 at Cedar Springs Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., the time of service. Interment will be at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Paul was born on March 21, 1928, the son of Berniece (nee Johnson) and the late Arthur Paul. He married Audrey Mueller on Aug. 13, 1949 at St. Francis Borgia Church.

He worked for Water Soft of Grafton for 36 years and was a member of the Cedarburg and Grafton Rotary clubs as well as the Wisconsin Club of Gulf Shores in Alabama. He had many hobbies, including golf (he had 3 holes in one), hunting (he shot a 10-point buck), fishing and woodworking.

In addition to his wife, Audrey of Cedarburg, he is survived by children Karen (Greg) Nelson of Cedarburg, Trudy (Dave) Lewis of Des Plaines, Ill., Tom (Sara) Paul of Roseville-Shoreview, Minn., and Scott (Meg) Paul of Renton, Wash,; grandchildren Missy (Chuck) Tate of Bloomington, Minn., Kevin (Nicole) Nelson of Grafton, Brenda, Todd and Tim Nelson of Cedarburg, Andy and Matt Lewis of Des Plaines, Ill., and Rebecca Paul of Roseville-Shoreview, Minn; great-grandchild Ian Nelson; his mother, Berniece Bode of Cedarburg; brothers Lynn (Leila) Paul of Cedarburg; Merritt (Carol) Paul of Sun Prairie; brothers-in-law, Alvin Mueller of Montello; Bernard Uebelher of Milwaukee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials to the charity of your choice are appreciated.

Earl B. Matthes

A funeral service was held on Monday, Aug. 13 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mequon for Earl B. Matthes, who died on Aug. 10, 2001 at the age of 89. Interment took place at Valhalla Cemetery.
The Schramka-Densow Funeral Home, Thiensville, assisted the family.

Mr. Matthes owned and operated the Earl B. Matthes Company, which manufactured and serviced overhead cranes for more than 50 years. He was also an active volunteer at the Mequon Care Center.

Survivors include: wife Mildred (nee Behrens) (Kreiter); son Neil (Kate) Matthes; daughters Nancy (Greg) Bennett, Marna (Brent) Akerley, Susie Kreiter; grandchildren Nina (Quillin), Colin, Blake, Nick, Lydia, Brian, Ross and Zach; great-grandchildren Cade and Peyton.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the American Heart Association are appreciated.

Audrey E. Dommer

A funeral service was held on Sunday, Aug. 19 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington for Audrey E. Dommer (nee Race) of Saukville, who died on Aug. 15, 2001 at Lasata Care Center at the age of 86.
Visitation was on Sunday at the church. Interment was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Grafton. Mueller Funeral Home of Grafton assisted the family.

Mrs. Dommer was born in Saukville on April 26, 1915, the daughter of the late Charles and Matilda (nee Buchen) Race. She married Arthur Dommer on Sept. 4, 1937 in Saukville.

She worked for Northern Signal of Grafton for many years.

She is survived by her husband Arthur; son Glenn (Ruth) Dommer; grandchildren Denis (Dan) Hofmeister, Kim (Phil) Apfelbeck, John (Michele) Peszko, Cynthia (fiance Fred) Peszko, Jacqueline Wisler and Susan (Dave) Godersky; a brother Donald Race; 10 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Bret J. Dierbeck

Bret J. Dierbeck, 19, of Slinger, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, from injuries suffered in an auto accident in the town of Erin.
He was born March 30, 1982, in Menomonee Falls, to Jerome and Ann (Daniels) Dierbeck, was raised in Milwaukee and moved to the Slinger area in 1985.

He graduated from Slinger High School in 2000, and at the time of his death was employed as a factory worker for Zinc Plating Inc. of Slinger.

Survivors include his mother, Ann Dierbeck and Denny of Slinger; his father, Jerome "Chuck" Dierbeck of Slinger; two sisters, Kelly and Carla Dierbeck, both of Slinger; maternal grandparents, Gordon and Ardith Daniels of Germantown; paternal grandparents, Jerome and Bernice Dierbeck of Whiting; aunts; uncles; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, of West Bend.

Fr. Mark Develis of Holy Hill will officiate, and cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend, with interment of ashes in Washington County Memorial Park of West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are appreciated.

Harold E. Nischke
Harold E. Nischke, 86, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend.

He was born Aug. 18, 1915, in Richfield, to the late Henry and Emma (Winters) Nischke, and on Sept. 26, 1936, married Lucille Schommer at St. Mary's Catholic Church, South Milwaukee.

Mr. Nischke was a member of St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian and was employed by Carl Johnson for over 25 years.

Prior to retirement, he was employed by Arm Tool and Metal Products in West Bend.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Lawrence "Buzz" (Joan) Nischke of Dundee and Geri (Barry) Murre of Kewaskum; a sister, Lorraine Slicker of Evansville, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Darlene Brown; two brothers, Clarence and Gilbert Nischke; and a sister, Eleanor Zarske.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, at St. Kilian Catholic Church, St. Kilian.

Fr. Victor Kemmer will officiate, and burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

The Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, is serving the family.
