Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 710 N. Baird St. Survivors include his wife, Anna, Green Bay; three nieces, Kathy Berg, Seymour, Loretta Klaus, Green Bay, Betty La Count, Crivitz.

KASTER, Jane J. 85, of De Pere joined her husband in eternal rest Tuesday, July 30, 2002. Jane was born Oct. 3, 1916, in De Pere, the daughter of the late Fred L. and Nell (VanLannen) Baeten. On June 28, 1941, Jane married Arnold Kaster at St. Boniface Catholic Church, De Pere. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1995. Jane was a member of Christian Mothers, Catholic Foresters and the church choir for many years. She was also a former co-president of the Golden Agers. Jane loved knitting, baking and was also an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed making clothing for her children.

Jane is survived by two daughters, Judy (Ron) Schneider of Oshkosh, and Kathy (Bill) Bergstrom of Glendale; three sons, Kenneth (Sue) and David (Leah) Kaster, both of De Pere, and Kevin (Dee) Kaster of Green Bay; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. 10th St., De Pere, Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish rosary will be held at 7 p.m.. Visitation will continue Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1307 Lourdes Ave., De Pere, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated with Father Thomas Hagendorf, O.Praem., and Father Charles Brooks Saturday at church at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will take place in the Allouez Mausoleum.

Jane's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Renaissance Assisted Living and Rennes Health Center for their compassionate care.

LEURQUIN, Betty (Mrs. Elroy) Leurquin, 73, Green Bay. Visitation 3-6 p.m. today at Malcore Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St. Funeral service 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include one daughter, Dahlroes "Dolly" (Bob) Pavlik, Green Bay; two granddaughters; two step-grandchildren; one brother, Dick (Sue) Reuter, Green Bay.

LIEBERGEN, Martin J. "Marty" 82, Howard, died as a result of an auto pedestrian accident on Monday, July 29, 2002, in the Village of Howard.

Marty was born on Nov. 15, 1919, to George and Mary (Ferrier) Liebergen in Green Bay. He was a lifelong resident of the area. On May 24, 1941, Marty married the former Eileen A. Mercier at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay. She preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 1999. He served in the US Army during WWII in the American European theater, Infantry, in General Patton's 3rd Army 89th Division and received the Bronze Star. Marty was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Howard VFW Post #7534, of which he was a past Commander, NARFE Association, Concerned Hearts, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, Council #163, and 4th Degree, St. Jude Assembly Honor Guard. He also volunteered at the critical care desk at Bellin Hospital and was a Red Cross driver. Marty worked at the Green Bay Post Office for 35 years, retiring as Examination Specialist in 1981.

Marty is survived by his children, David M. and Susan K. Liebergen, Suamico, Barbara A. and Bob Krause, Georgia, Susan E. Liebergen and Paul G. Liebergen, both of Green Bay; grandchildren, Scott D. and daughter Hayden, Jody L. and Aaron Shaha, Maryland, and Matthew D. Liebergen, Shelly Diederich Bowden and husband Toby, Georgia, Gerald and Shelley Diederich and children, Nathan and Ryan, Georgia, Shawn and Jessica Diederich and son Ethan, Green Bay; two sisters, Marian and Cletus Shauer, and Carol and Earl Stone, all of Green Bay; one brother, John James and Mary Ellen Liebergen, Green Bay. He is also survived by a very special friend, Rose Strazzinski, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen; beloved infant daughter Helen; and two infant brothers, Bernard Donald and Bernard Francis.

The family will receive friends at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home West, 1145 Cardinal Lane, Howard, on Thursday, Aug. 1 (TODAY), from 4 until 8 p.m. Howard VFW Post #7534 service 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation continues after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until the cortege leaves for church. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Howard, with the Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Full Military Honors to follow. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Andrew J. Pfotenhauer, Funeral Director.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Marty's name.

A Special Thank you to the Howard Rescue Squad, Brown County Sheriff's Department, St. Vincent Hospital Trauma Center, and everyone who helped and assisted us in this tragic time. Dad, You were an inspiration to everyone. Your spirit of life was seen in your service to your country, your faith in God, the love of family, neighbors and friends. We will always remember your love of swimming, walking and dancing. You will be sadly missed but never forgotten. We love you, always, XOXOXO!

MAHONY, Robert D. "Bob"

MAHONY, Robert D. "Bob", 81, died July 19, 2002, in Thousand Oaks, Calif., from bone cancer. He was born March 29, 1921, in Cleveland, Wis., to the late John and Theckla (Wagner) Mahony. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's Grade School and West High School, class of 1939 in Green Bay. He joined the Army Air Corps in December 1940. As a Bombardier Navigator, he was wounded over Berlin in March 1945, for which he received the Purple Heart. Robert then got his degree as a Mechanical Engineer from Marquette University, Milwaukee, in 1949. After working in several locations, he retired from Hughes Aircraft in California.

While in World War II service, Bob married Mary T. Vail, an Army Nurse. Bob and all his family have been fans of the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Pam Mahony, Molly Mahony (Paul) Smith, all of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike (Jan) Mahony, Malibu, Calif.; Tom (Kay) Mahony, Boulder, Colo.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Mahony, Mill Valley, Calif.; and one sister, Peggy Eisenreich, Green Bay.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, on Jan. 15, 2002; and a brother, Jackie, in August 1929.

His remains have been cremated. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Northridge, Calif.

If desired, memorials may be sent to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #20, P.O. Box 6175, Bakersfield, CA 93386 or a Local Hospice c/o Mike Mahony, 32443 Pacific Coast Hwy., Malibu, CA 90265. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the Mahony family.

NEWMAN, Clara E. (Mrs. Hilbert) 89, rural Denmark was born into eternal life on Tuesday morning, July 30, 2002. Clara was born in the Town of Glenmore on May 25, 1913, the daughter of Anton and Anna (Shimon) Hoffman. Clara Hoffman was united in marriage with Hilbert J. Newman on Oct. 5, 1935, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, New Denmark. Mrs. Newman was a lifelong resident of the area and was engaged in farming with her husband for many years. Clara enjoyed her hobbies of gardening, sewing and baking cookies, kolatches and rye bread. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the church Alter Society.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph (Doris) Newman, Maribel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcella (Gerald) Novak, and Mary (Francis) Pietsch, Denmark. She is further survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Deborah Landt, sons Benjamin and Patrick; Michael (Dawn) Novak, daughter April, all of Denmark, and Susan (Jim) Steeno and their children, Alexander, Jacob, and Kaylee, Little Chute.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Hilbert, in 1988; one brother, Adolph Hoffman; and two sisters, her twin, Mrs. Alfred (Agnes) Leiterman and Mrs.George (Christina) Leiterman.

Friends may call on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 (TODAY), from 4 to 8 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County R, Denmark. Parish prayer service will be 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. directly at All Saints Catholic Church, 145 St. Claude St., Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, 10:30 a.m. at the church with Monsignor Bob Gulig officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

OLSON, Mrs. Ethel Frances 79, Green Bay. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Friday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Schauer & Schumacher Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., is assisting the family.

STEFFENS, Connie L. (Cohen) 51, Suamico, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 29, 2002.

Connie was born on March 18, 1951, to C. Bernard and Joyce (Matzke) Cohen in Green Bay. She graduated from Denmark High School and attended NWTC. She was a resident of the area all her life. She married Donald E. Steffens on April 4, 1970, at St. Mary's Church in Glenmore. She was a caregiver of the elderly and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Emergency Rescue Squad-Howard/Suamico, and an American Red Cross volunteer.

Connie is survived by her children and grandchildren: Lee and Keri Steffens and son, Brock, Green Bay; Jon Steffens, Molly Steffens, both of Green Bay, and their father, Donald Steffens; her parents, C. Bernard and Joyce Cohen, Denmark; four brothers: Michael and Nancy Cohen and daughter, Bridget, Fort Atkinson; Kevin and Janet Cohen and children, Tara and Kelli, Greendale; Charles Cohen Jr. and son, Justin, and friend Sara Jansen, Denmark; John and Lisa Cohen and children, Brenden, Sean, and Aidan, Appleton. Also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clem and Sadie Matzke and William and Lucy Cohen.

The family will receive friends at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home West, 1145 Cardinal Lane, Howard, on Friday, Aug. 2, from 4 until 8 p.m. Visitation continues after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until the cortege leaves for church.
